Did you know any of that either?

QuinQ: What about Tacitus? See below + He didn't mention Jesus by name, rather as "Christus" and said he was executed by Pilate. Notably he was referring to the origin of the term "Christian." He wrote a century after the claimed birth of Jesus of Nazareth, and was talking about the great fire of Rome under Nero and the persecution of Christians. By the time he was writing, the claims of who was the founder of the Christian sect would have been his reference. That the said Christus was executed, is not my particular dispute or contest, nor do I say such a character never existed, but for me, it is open to contestation. Certainly, there were many different people with elements of the Jesus story in their lives at the time. |
Christianity Etc › Re: Why Is Jesus Not Included In Academic History Books? by DeepSight(m): 7:12pm On Jan 07 |
musicwriter: Historians have already dismissed supposed Joseph's comment about Jesus as a forgery, unfortunately, people are not aware of this fact.
Josephus NEVER said anything about the Jesus of the Bible, instead the Roman empire inserted comments into Josephus's writing to make it appear as if he was talking about the Jesus of the Bible. It was an age of religious forgery to prove the existence of Jesus by any means possible, including by fraud, in fact, they called it "pious fraud" and it was deemed as doing the " good work" of the Lord.
Use any good AI like Grok and put in the following question "how do historians know that Josephus's comment about Jesus Christ is a forgery?" Of course, you can ask subsequent questions around that + No need for me to check it out, I am very well aware of this. I was actually assessing your credentials. Pass mark. |

musicwriter: Stop misleading people!!
Again, historians mentioned the names of Jesus'ES of that day that deserved a mention (I've already given you names of some of them). And your Jesus was more prominent than those mentioned- according to your Bible.
A Jesus that was born by a virgin, walked on water, fed multitudes, healed the sick, etc, would have been more important to any historian.
Tell me why historians mentioned names of LESS important Jesus'ES instead of the more important one in your Bible? + What do you say of the references by Josephus. Just asking. I am not a believer, FYI. |

The whole place isn't bigger than a local government area (LGA) in Nigeria. So, your whole perception of the size of the place is wrong to begin with.
Yes, historians of that day recorded names of everything, including names of Jesus'ES of that day. But none of them came across or ever heard of the Jesus of the Bible who's supposed to be the most popular according to your Bible. The reason is because your Jesus NEVER existed. + He is probably a combination of several people, ancient wisdom from the far east and wild imagination. |

Cherryediva: Hello everyone, sorry for the long post I got married at 22, my husband was 40 at the time. We have been married for 5 years and we have a child together.
My concern is that my husband is not able to satisfy me sexually at all, which is frustrating, I have talked to him about it nothing seems to change. Financially, he is struggling, partly because he gambles a lot. He also drinks alcohol heavily.
I work too but he doesn't want me to have my own money he is always collecting money from me. He doesn’t have clear goals, ambition, or a vision for the future, and this makes me feel stagnant in the marriage.
He is a good man in terms of character. He doesn’t cheat, he doesn’t abuse me at all, and he treats me well overall.
I’m confused because while he is good to me, I feel stuck and unfulfilled. I would really appreciate advice from y'all who have been in similar situations or who can offer honest guidance. Thank you.
Google Image + Alcoholic, seizes your money, gambles - is your definition of a good man? And this is also your definition of a long post? Sister, go think wella. In defense though, of the great invention that is alcohol (the anesthetic with which men endure the surgery of life), it is only bad when taken to excess without control. |

Seriously though, the thing about the crucifixion method is that it was not just a method of execution - but a method of torturous execution.Let me be careful to say though that there is the idea that the cross had some other significance and also the idea that he was actually hung from a stake, not a cross. I only add these as the obsessive academic that I am, for they are moot and meaningless points. |

LordReed: Yes the issue is the tales of supernatural occurences. You have no wayto support those without simultaneously accepting any other similar tales from other religions.
Like I pointed out to you using the now infamous Nazi symbol which was NOT a symbol of hate before the Nazis started using it, symbols can be repurposed for any thing. You Christians for example believe the rainbow to be a symbol for something other than LGBTQ pride symbolism. The cross previously being a symbol of shameful death doesn't mean anything in the grand scheme of things, it is what it means to you Christians that matters. In other words a symbol is only as meaningful as you want it to be. + But it still remains so laughable to me because if they executed Bros Jay with a gun, so na so gun for be the symbol today? |

jaephoenix: You're just making this thing painful for yourself. Who created Satan? Yhwh! Is Yhwh omniscient? Yes! So why did he create Satan,a being he knew would bring in evil into the world and corrupt his angels and humans? When you say god has a rescue plan,do you mean flooding the world? Because an all knowing god would not flood the world if he knew sin would comeback. If he knew sin would return, why flood the world in the first place? What was the point? + These and more are fundamental issues about some religious ideas of God which can never be resolved. Particularly the Abrahamic God. That God who tests his follower with a command to kill his son, who destroys the life of a faithful one to win a wager with the devil, who conspires through lies and commands genocide, whose recipe to forgive his own creation from the imperfection he created them with is ritual sacrifice of his alleged son. . . That sort of being can only be despised by any sane person. Thankfully, it is a figment of the imagination of man. Not so thankfully, that imagination is powerful enough to have caused untold misery. |
