TV01: The Jews were and have always been very conscious of maintaining their lineage, culture, traditions, customs and language. The more conservative amongst them typically marry other Jews. They are not alone in this regard. We see it amongst Asian populations in Britain. They rarely "marry out". I am not claiming there has been no inter-mingling or even dilution as you term it. Or even a population of secular Jews. But Jews they remain Fair enough but 2000 years of wandering together with the fact that as you yourself have pointed out, you have secular Jews, you also have those who are not strictly conservative and inter marry, and many many other factors in that large expanse of time clearly must factor. One thing you commonly touted is that Israeli Jews are are essentially of Ashkenazi stock. This is wrong. The Misrahi constitute a greater proportion of the starting population, having migrated from the surrounding middle-eastern nations. It is worth noting that diasporic Mizrahis numbered close to a million pre-state of Israel. There are now only a few thousand left outside Israel. What happened there? There are also Sephardic, Falasha and others. Ashkenazi Jews are in the majority today. At the very minimum half of the Jewish population. This is the reality. Nonetheless my position is that there should be a fair sharing of the land. What occurs today is not fair. Likewise the trope that Israel is an ethno-nationalist or Apartheid state. Again, not evidenced and not true. Israel has minorities and a 20% Arab\muslim demographic with full rights (except military conscription). Per above, no Middle-Eastern country can boast of that kind of minority representation or treatment. The "Palestinians" outside of Israel chose the side of the Arab\muslim invaders during earlier confrontations and paid the price. Israel is incontestably an apartheid state and even the bold in yours above admits it. But no one who knows the way the West Bank is administered today can deny this. Are you familiar with whats going on there? For heavens sake they even partition and have different roads and roads Palestinians are not allowed to use, etc. What could be more apartheid? Both Nelson Mandela and Bishop Desmond Tutu of South Africa affirmed that the practices of Israel were exactly akin to what they experienced in apartheid South Africa and this informs the historical support of South Africa for Palestine. The fact is the the Palestinians in both the West Bank and Gaza are a caged and occupied people under the jackboot of Israel, and that is both colonization and apartheid. |

tctrills: Oga, come to think of how racist you are becoming. There is beginning to be very little difference between how you sound and how Hitler sounded about race. For someone so obsessed with race, you have become the very thing you claim to fight against. You have become the black Hitler, talking about the dilution of race just as Hitler did. He would be very proud of you. Hitler, like you, believed that mixing with other races would lead to decline. In Mein Kampf, he wrote that all great cultures of the past had perished because the original creative race had become corrupted through mixing with other races. He saw racial purity as a matter of natural law, comparing it to breeding in animals, saying that strong breeds decline when “mixed” with weaker ones. This is what your hatred for the Jews has made you become. I explained what I meant by dilution and I know you understood it, so stop trying to be funny. Its simply science. I myself am mixed so rest. |

Toruibestate: That’s my community — Agadagba Igbedi, in Kolokuma Kingdom, Bayelsa State.
I am from the ancestral home of the Kolokuma Kingdom, which also serves as the ancestral home of all Ijaws. Our heritage runs deep, tracing back over 10,000 years to the very origins of the Ijaw people.
I come from the same clan as the Governor of Bayelsa State and the same family as the First Lady of Bayelsa State, Mrs. Gloria Diri.
My late father, who passed on September 5, was laid to rest on the same sacred land where the first Ijaw man once lived — because our family lands form part of that ancient island, the cradle of Ijaw civilization.
@Ditari of Ijaw Are you sure you are not just making claims based on what your people insist on? Because aside from the town/ village cited, certainly your claim of 10, 000 years ago is more than questionable. --------------------------- The question of a single "ancestral home" for all Ijaw people is complex, as their history involves deep antiquity and multiple migrations within the Niger Delta. However, historical and oral traditions point to a few significant centers:
The Central Niger Delta: The general area of the Central Niger Delta (including what is now Bayelsa State) is widely considered to be the most ancient place of Ijaw settlement and a key dispersal point. Linguistic studies and archaeology confirm a very long presence here, dating back to at least 800 BCE.
Agadagba-bou: Oral traditions often mention Agadagba-bou, an ancient city-state located in the Central Delta (specifically in the Igbedi Creek area of Wilberforce Island in present-day Bayelsa State). This is sometimes referred to as the first ancient Ijaw city-state and a major center from which the descendants of the legendary ancestor, Ijo, dispersed between about 700 AD and 1050 AD.
The Oru People: More broadly, the Oru or (H)Oru people are identified in some historical narratives as the most ancient ancestors of the Ijaw, believed to have been an aboriginal or autochthonous people of the West African region, with deeper ancestral origins possibly tracing back to the Nile Valley and Lake Chad region before they settled the Niger Delta.
While Agadagba-bou is perhaps the closest one can get to a singular early dispersal point in the Niger Delta, the ultimate ancestral origin is often discussed in terms of the older Oru people and a much earlier migration into the Delta region.*Culled. Scholars also say that the Ijaw people are the descendants of the ORU. The ORU migrated from the Nile River Valley and Lake Chad region in northeastern Nigeria to the delta region of the Niger River. This is one of the reasons tribalism is meaningless. Human migration and inter-mixture is too deep. https://study.com/academy/lesson/ijaw-history-culture-facts-oldest-tribe-nigeria.html |

Toruibestate: If there’s any tribe in Nigeria that takes the crown for having the most unusual, funny, and downright strange names, it has to be the Ijaw people — whether from Bayelsa, Delta, Rivers, Ondo, Edo, or Akwa Ibom. Especially those from the first three!
I’m from Bayelsa, and honestly, the kind of names you hear among our people will leave you laughing or wondering how they came about. You’ll meet people bearing names like Lifeboat, Emergency, Air, Zinc, and even Table. Believe it or not, I even know someone whose real name is Kitchen!
Now, if you move over to the Rivers Ijaw, especially the Bonny people, their style is purely English — names like Green, Brown, Jumbo, Hart and Fyneface. Then you have the famous surnames from Kalabari like West, Briggs, and Bob-Manuel.
Even among Ijaw politicians, the trend continues — check out names like Heneiken Lokpobiri, James Manager, and Government Ekpemupolo. Tell me which other tribe can compete with that!
But honestly, I’ve told my people before — one day, if you don’t have at least one name that shows the Ijaw in you, people might start questioning if you’re truly Ijaw.
As for me, I’m keeping the culture alive. My two children have proper Ijaw names before their “organized” English names.
My daughter: Olaere Sonia
My son: Ayakpo Richard
@Ditari of Ijaw The funniest I ever heard was this girl named Apili. Guess what. That was the short, funkified version, because her name was Appeal-Court. |

Christianity Etc › Re: God In Human Form by DeepSight(m): 6:08pm On Oct 17, 2025 |
honesttalk21: Then to your claim that the essence of Christianity and Judaism is not submission to God that’s a misunderstanding of their very foundations. Submission to God is the golden thread running through every covenant in Scripture.
Abraham, called the friend of God, was tested precisely in his willingness to submit. Genesis 22 celebrates his readiness to obey God’s command without hesitation and that is pure submission.
Moses and the covenant at Sinai were built on the same principle. If you obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be My treasured possession. (Exodus 19:5).
Even Jesus peace be upon him is portrayed in the Gospels as the perfect model of submission. Not my will, but Yours be done. (Luke 22:42). His greatness was in surrender, not self-assertion.
That’s the very spirit of Islam not a new faith, but the conscious yielding to God’s will that every true prophet embodied. A personal relationship with God doesn’t cancel submission; it completes it. Relationship without submission becomes self-will, and submission without relationship becomes empty ritual. The Qur’an unites both heartfelt devotion anchored in obedience to the One God of all prophets. On this point you are right and my son and mentee Kukutente23 is most obviously wrong. |

Kukutente23: If you were asking a woman to become your wife and you tell her to be faithful to you so that you will be faithful to her and bless her in return. Would you term that a contract of submission? Let us not be distracted. Look at the verses I gave you and note that they are in the nature of absolute commands of submission, obedience and servitude. In fact, they also speak of fear. That is as absolute as it gets, it is clear. You should not try to change the matter by speaking about the mere example of human marriage. That is far from these direct and absolute commands. By the way as you know I just selected a few verses. I know you know almost hundreds can be produced, many with terrible consequences as retribution for failing to submit and obey. You know surely, the Book of blessings and curses in Deuteronomy. |
Christianity Etc › Re: God In Human Form by DeepSight(m): 3:49pm On Oct 17, 2025 |
Kukutente23: No Sir. It is very false to say Judaism and Christianity preaches submission to God. Judaism was borne out of a covenant between God and Abraham. In the covenant, the children of Israel are required to follow God's instructions and ordinance and he will in turn bless them and make them invincible, the supreme of the earth Christianity on the other hand is a relationship that seeks to restore man to the relationship God had with Adam in the wilderness. It was a relationship of friendship and mentorship not slave-master relationship. In fact, Adam was more or less like a pet to God in the garden of Eden. Islam's emphasis on submission is based on the belief that humans are slaves to God. This characterization totally negates both Judaism and Christianity. Abraham was God's friend. David was a man after God's heart. Moses was God's oracle whom he spoke with face to face and most importantly, Jesus is God's Son. So the idea of being slaves to God is at variance with Judaism and Christian beliefs. Thank you I hear you, but note I said with varying degrees of emphasis. And that is indubitable. The Islamic conception of being slaves to God is clearly an extreme. Nevertheless it is wrong to say it is completely absent in the other Abrahamic faiths to a different degree especially considering that many in those faiths are called "servants" of God. Quibbling between both words would be, for me a bit pedantic - nonetheless, leaving that aside, it is all too easy to drag up verses in both the NT and OT prescribing submission to God. Surely you dont need me to drag them up? Okay then, tell us how these do not clearly prescribe absolute submission - Old Testament -
Deuteronomy 13:4:"You shall walk after the Lord your God and fear him and keep his commandments and obey his voice, and you shall serve him and hold fast to him."Ecclesiastes 12:13:"The end of the matter; all has been heard. Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man."New Testament
Direct Command to Submit to God James 4:7
"Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." |
Christianity Etc › Re: God In Human Form by DeepSight(m): 3:32pm On Oct 17, 2025 |
Kukutente23: It doesn't matter how you seek to twist it or hide under semantics. The fact remains you have driven yourself into a cul de sac If you say Islam is not a new religion but continuation of the old that has existed from the time of Adam, then it cannot be the one being referred to as a new song in Isaiah since something "new" implies something unseen or unheard of before.
If on the other hand you say Islam is a new religion then it means the Quran was lying as it claimed Islam already existed since the time of Adam. In fact, Islam had troubles being accepted willingly by the Meccans and surrounding tribes which made it become a political religion that required full subordination of the people through violence and coercion. This is in clear contrast with Isaiah 42v3 that says "a broken reed he will not bruise nor a smoking flax quench" signifying a peaceful and gentle disposition devoid of any iota of violence or threats of violence
And in actual fact, there is nothing new about Islam in the real sense. None of its practices or beliefs were novel. The shariah law has very clear resemblance with the mosaic laws. You pray five times like the Zoroastrians and face the east like them as well. In fact, the five pillars of Islam existed before Muhammad and even the Kaaba existed before him. So pray how can Islam be a new song?
The Jews in Mecca and Medina and the surrounding regions never accepted Muhammad as a prophet try as much as he did to court them. He joined them to face Jerusalem in prayer still they rejected him. He claimed to be like one of their prophets still they denounced him. He did pilgrimage to Jerusalem still they knew him not.
Most importantly, the essence of Christianity and Judaism is not submission to God. That is a big fallacy. Christianity is a religion that looks to develop a personal relationship with God through His Son Jesus Christ. Judaism was a communal relationship with God through his covenant with Abraham. None of them preached submission to God neither was their theme about submission. Afterall, Jacob the progenitor of the Israelites fought with the Angel of God in his sleep which earned him the name Israel. I think it's very questionable to say that any Abrahamic religion does not preach submission to God. They all obviously do albeit with differing degrees of emphasis. |
