Gbadebo19: You easily know them when you get them boxed to the wall. Imagine someone asking me to affirm objectivity as if objectivity is attained by affirmation. Is it not a third party reading the thread that would determine who is objective from the points and evidence adduced? A person who justified the seizure of a buffer zone agreed by multilateral involvement is talking. Shior. Thank heavens i didnt waste my time. |

rabzy: Okay that is noted. But in the event that all your subjects or a significant majority of your subjects have become converts to a new religion, then does a king need to or have to steadfastly/needlessly adhere to a tradition or religion that his people has spurned/rejected or modernized as they see fit. Do the present people not have a right to change their tradition or culture to something new/different that can in decades or centuries become an "old" tradition for future generations, just like their forbears also adopted, adapted or created traditions that lasted to their own era. This is a very interesting and sound question. All I can say is yes, culture evolves. However I doubt that the Native culture has actually evolved in the place being discussed notwithstanding the the popularity of foreign religions. |

Lookmun: I have not said that the issue is with the religion but I think practitioners of the religion can do things better. Can Islamic leaders be more vocal about the ills of extremism? It’s not enough to distance oneself from a terrorist attack. The education and campaign against extremism needs to be very loud.
I recall the time when a student made comments about the Prophet, many notable figures in Nigeria were either neutral or supported the burning of the lady. These things can embolden extremists to do worse things even if the religion doesn’t promote such.
In fact the reason for this conversation was my response to someone that said “the blame is with the other party.” I was simply saying that where there is an internal problem, try and take responsibility rather than blame others. Muslims really need to stand up against Islamic extremism. I agree. |

histemple: Given your response, I am convinced that you now understand where I was pointing to.
First, is that the police lacks the interpretative jurisdiction to arrive at such decision as to whether or not the actuating circumstances, and the timing of actions, align with the relevant provisions of defense of provocation.
That, is entirely the job of the court.
But let it be understood that the police cannot exonerate a premeditated murder simply because there was a provocation. Even when the defense of provocation has been established, the court often resort to reducing the sentence ONLY. That's what I said. . . "Mitigating factor. . Reduction of punishment." |

If you want to talk about the Gaza war, read the attached P.S below
P.S: The preamble of Hamas constitution is a commitment to wiping out the Jewish state. Did you know that? Okay, sorry I called you ignorant. Now will you affirm objectivity? In fact, let's do a simple test to establish that objectivity. Can you answer a simple yes or no to this question. Have both sides committed atrocities in this decades long conflict. Yes or no. Your answer to this will ascertain your objectivity. In case you wonder, my answer is yes. |

histemple: Let me give you an example of how the law operates.
Let us say somebody raped your daughter. Then rather than reporting it to the police, you decided to "teach him a lesson by beating him to death, you will be arrested by the police and charged to court for murder.
And it's not the duty to ask whether the deceased actually raped your daughter. In fact, it has become immaterial. It may not be entirely immaterial. It may go to establishing provocation which may mitigate the punishment. If there hadn't been time for passion to cool. . . |

I don't intend to waste my time if you cannot confirm your objectivity. It would be useless having a debate on this matter with any person who is hardwired to defend Issrael even if they dropped a nuclear bomb on his village. And there are many such people, especially among Evangelicals in Nigeria, and they are a dime a dozen on this board. So pardon me, I need to know ahead if it's a waste of time. PS: I already pointed out a number of issues if you were serious you would have noticed each one on its own merit. |

P.S: Instead of just screaming ignorance, maybe I should remind you that you haven't said a single thing to justify what you call illegal. Culture › Re: Oluwo Of Iwo: "Awujale's Death Frees Yorubas From Ritual Slavery" by DeepSight(m): 8:32pm On Jul 17, 2025 |
rabzy: So must the first Islamic emir permit them not to bury him according to islamic rites, when he believes doing this will negate the whole point of his conversion and prevent him from aljanna? Constantine was the first Roman emperor that was said to become a christian, he was not buried according to Roman burial rites. He was said to be baptized on his deathbed and buried according according to "xtian" rites. There are thousands of examples of Kings who had a clean break during their reign from the cultures and rites that brought them to the throne and they established a different culture/rites going forward which then became the new tradition and culture. And most times these changes dont all occur during the reign of the first king that converted, it takes place over several reigns, each king taking the people and culture further and further away from the previous culture and tradition. From the Mongolian kings of Central Asia to the Mughal emperors of India, to the Viking Kings of Scandinavia down to the Turkic rulers of Anatolia, you can hardly find a clean break as you posited in your comments Well, I take a diferent approach. I simply say that as a traditional king, your duty is to be a custodian of tradition. Therefore the very act of conversion to a foreign religion is, in my view, already a betrayal of your people, your oath, your culture, your role, your stool and your tradition. You should step down from the throne. |

Gbadebo19: Can you please list those illegal things and let us determine whether they were actually illegal? There is no point. You yourself already mentioned how they have seized a buffer zone agreed under United Nations auspices. Is that not an arrangement that must have involved multi-lateral negotiation and understanding? So if you proceed to defend that, why should I waste my energy. It is clear there is nothing you will not defend and engaging you will be a waste of my energy. You even went so far as to say the other party doesnt have to agree to any demilitarized zone. In short, Israel is supreme. If you can defend something like that how dare I mention anything about illegal settlements in the West Bank, and the continuous expansion of same? How dare I mention anything about genocide and occupation in Gaza and the West Bank? How dare I mention anything about apartheid policies? How dare I mention anything about ICC indictment of Netanyahu? Oh no, its obvious what you will say. No need. Have a good evening sir. |

Lookmun: I have only one question for you. If all these crisis are being sponsored by the West and Israel, why do they always use Islamic Extremists? Why are Islamic extremists always the willing tools for their agenda. There are thousands (if not millions) of religions in the world including Buddhism, Sikhism, Christianity, Confucianism, Taoism, Shinto, Jainism. But Islamic extremists are always used.
Let’s tell ourselves the truth please Here is the problem. You probably don't know that the USA trained Osama bin Laden. You probably don't know that the Taliban was trained and supplied by the USA as a former ally. You probably don't know that Netanyahu funded Hamas deliberately. And much more. Gbadebo19: There is something you are not getting. You need to understand why it was done. I said it was done when the Assad regime fell. The flow of weapons from Iran to Syria through that channel would have been critical for Israel. Secondly, Iran was against the HTS regime and would have done anything through that channel to arm separatist groups to pose a challenge to the Jolani regime. In short, it was something you could call a necessary evil. But come on, this argument of necessary evil is old and has always been used by aggressive imperialist states. It was used by the USA against Sadam Hussein over non existent Weapons of Mass Destruction. It was used by Hitler against Poland after his false flag operation by the border. It has been used innumerable times by Israel against her neighbours. It was used by France and the West against Gaddafi. Heck, it was even used by good old Idi Amin against Tanzania who ended up defeating him! It is a weak old excuse by aggressive states. What I need you to assure me of first is that you are not one of those who justify everything Israel has ever done - no matter how atrocious. |
