wirinet: Obviously, he is not a stupid businessman. Dangote is one person I admire and respect a lot, he is a patriotic Nigerians and takes huge business risks. Its just that in this refinery business, he miscalculated. He believed he will alway get government backing and patronage, not realising that a king might come to power that does not know Joseph. A king who does not know Joseph! Indeed! It seems you have been quoting the bible more frequently of recent. I also saw you tell someone that flesh and bllod did not reveal the non-profitability of refineries to him. Have you been on the road to Damsacus recently and did someone accost you on the way? |

wirinet: Flesh and blood did not reveal thus secret to you but the holy spirit. Refinery business around the world is not a profitable business, unless of course you secure a source of cheap crude, either by stealing or other underhand tactics. Why dangote decided to pump in billion of dollars into the refinery business instead of other more profitable and less volatile business is a mystery to me. He is not a stupid businessman, this we know. So he must know what we do not know. |

Wickedfact: Before you commend Burkina Faso, go to the country. If you can't, visit Burkinabe pages on social media and get reactions from citizens.
The youth corper who is their President is being derided daily. Nothing is working there apart from the photographers snapping the President.
Since the US withdrew, the Islamist militants have taken a greater part of Burkina Faso. Even Russians are being killed there. Just 2 weeks ago, soldiers abdicated from their responsibility and it was civilians digging trenches.
The fugitive called Yahya Bello is far far better than the Burkina Faso President. At least, under Yahya Bello, kidnappers saw shege in Kogi. Burkina Faso has always been an extremely poor and struggling country. That hasnt changed. This is not to say that they have suddenly started prospering no. It is simply noting the fact that they have been able to stick up their middle finger at Ecowas and the imperialist west. France in particular. |

Doylestown92: Those countries in Europe and the other one, Canada which you mentioned are not dictatorships, because of the US. Canada sits right above the US, and everything about it is American, except the fact that it answers to the British Monarchy. Now, Germany was once under a dictatorship, even after Hitler was defeated. It was US president Ronald Reagan who went to Berlin, at the Brandenburg Gate, where Germany was divided, and called for the reunification of Germany under a democracy. Would you also care to know that most of the countries in Europe are under NATO, so how is ever possible for a dictator to take over? You underestimate the power of the US. Quick reminder: Russia is a dictatorship, yes they have no gun rights that's why it happened. Rubbish. |

jaxxy: America is smart enough to solve its gun control policies. They need to take these discussions seriously and arrive at a better resolution for public safety. It will not happen until the day there is a mass shooting in a gathering where the children of a significant cross section of the country's political elite are killed in significant numbers. |

MEEVEET: Most people don't understand why USA allow their citizens to hold guns
1) so that no leader can ever be a dictator This was only relevant back in the day when the amendment was passed. It is no longer what stops dictatorship. Other advanced democracies such as those in Europe are under no threat of dictatorship and yet they do not keep this inane gun policy. 2) there would never be a military coup in American Where is the military coup in Europe or Canada? 3) America can never be conquered... Even if you defeat the army there are 300 million army to fight This is meaningless. Not only is it almost impossible to conquer the USA by virtue of its location, not to speak of it military prowess, the simple truth is that if indeed it was ever conquered, in the modern age, a gun behind every door will be meaningless in light of the technology which will be available to any power capable of having invaded and subdued it. The truth is there is no excuse for the refusal to permit sensible gun control other than primitive sentiments. No one says guns should be banned, only sensible gun control is asked for. A person has to show a good credit record to get a loan for heaven's sake, why should a person not be of sound mind and character to apply for a gun? |

nairalanda1: There is one solution to the fuel crisis
ALLOW FUEL TO BE SOLD AT MARKET PRICE
Then ye shall see no scarcity, and fuel will flow freely
Yes, I know, APC Is evil, and yes, I am a bad person who does not understand economics, and nigbati tinubu, buhari.....but the truth has been since the 1980's...that removing subsidy totally and allowing fuel to be sold ...right now at N1500 per liter...is the way forward.
You can abuse me all day long, but no matter how many tantrums you throw...it still does not change the fact that things have to be sold at a profit. ...and that APC's ignoring of that basic economic fact is why we are here.
SO, keep abusing...it shows you as immature children, not mature adults. You are an accursed murderer and all the hardship that you wish upon poor and suffering Nigerians will be multiplied a thousandfold and visited upon you. |

This president is a curse. A curse that Nigeria needs to rid itself of, otherwise it will decimate Nigeria. The handwriting is on the wall already. You had a protest about hardship - he did not accede to even a fraction of any request by the people. So far from acceede to anything, barely a month after the protests, steps are being taken to effect a further hike in the prices of PMS.
That level of insensitivity is not ordinary. It is demonic. There is something truly dark and otherworldly about the rapacious intent of this president. We must arise and resist this president before he sucks our blood and the blood of our children dry. |

SmartPolician: At least read the article before replying someone. This article has nothing to do with petrol scarcity; it's about setting a new price for pms. Oh I did read the article. I was responding to you, not to the article. You were talking about the smuggling. Probably in response to the article, in which raising the price of PMS was referred to as a solution to smuggling. It is no accident that the Minister is saying this at this time, in the midst of this biting PMS scarcity. All of these are allussions and insinuations that smuggling is part of the problem that leads us here. It is just a side symptom my brother. Official corruption is the A - Z of this matter. |

SmartPolician: At this point, I cannot even blame the government. Nigerians of all tribes are bloody opportunists and dubious people.
Your government is subsidizing petroleum products and you are selling it to your neighbours at the expense of your country and still claim to love the country. I have never seen a people as terrible as Nigerians. Think. Think deeper. Did smuggling start today. There has always been smuggling. Anyone who tells you that the fuel scarcity is because of smuggling is pulling the wool over your eyes. The scarcity is on account of official corruption in high places, within NNPC to be precise. |
