But, just imagine if we have state Police...imagine what would have happened..
The State Police under the control of the Governor would want to enforce the Governor's directive and other security agencies under the control of the FGN would want to enforce maybe the court order..
Na wahala go happen This is a great question and will be resolved by the clear delineation of the respective jurisdictions of the state and federal police forces in the relevant legislation just as obtains in the USA (where there is even county [LGA] police). |

Life strikes good people with incurable diseases and takes them away and leaves the wicked to a happy and unrevenged wealthy old age. Life heals one randomly and infects another randomly. Life makes one feel beloved by God and another persecuted by God. Life does all these things. |

Jman06: Arrest is part of the prosecution process in Nigeria.
If the protest is on account of hardship in the country, it'll be a different kettle of fish. You that is typing so sanctimoniously, I'm sure that if the protest is to overthrow the incumbent president, you'll support the protesters' arrests. Why would I? First and foremost the incumbent president is both a criminal and a curse to this country. Secondly I simply will never support the arrest of peaceful protesters. It is anti democratic. Look, I simply conclude you neither understand the meaning of democracy nor deserve its privileges. You are primitive. |

jmoore: Learn to read between lines to know when hoodlums are threatening violence.
Ganduje desecrated Kano emirate and another governor is repairing the damage done. A protester is saying the one repairing it will cause breakdown of law and order. How does that make sense? How does that warrant arrest? Anyone can claim "hoodlums are threatening violence" easily. Where is the violence? |
Culture › Re: Protest Against Reinstatement Of Sanusi As Emir Of Kano Hits Villa, NASS by DeepSight(m): 2:06pm On May 24, 2024 |
Jman06: When people take bribes from corrupt politicians to embark on selfish protests, they should be arrested! Likewise when journalists are bribed to write rubbish! A journalist who writes falsehood to tarnish someone's image should be arrested and made to face the law. The law does not provide that anyone who writes something false should be arrested. It provides that he can be sued for libel/ defamation. The law also does not provide that peaceful protesters should be arrested. It actually guarantees the right of peaceful assembly. Again, I ask you, do you want to live in a democracy or not? |

If DSS is not useless, they should arrest the protesters. They are indirectly threatening to unleash violence. What is wrong with you guys? Why do you always advocate the desecration of democratic rights? You want peaceful protesters to be arrested. And many like you support the arrest of journalists and bloggers for simple free speech. How then will you later say you want to live in a democracy? Do you understand what a democracy is at all? |

Politics › Re: Traditional Council Crisis: Put Edo First, Senator Okpebholo tells Oba, Obaseki by DeepSight(m): 11:03am On May 24, 2024 |
JuanDeDios: Yes. The British removed Oba Ovonramwen in 1897.
However, it's not as easy. The thing is, you can pick anyone from certain families to be emir of Kano. But in Benin, only one person, the eldest surviving son of the last king, can be king. So if the state government removes him, Benin would go kingless until he dies in exile and his eldest son is enthroned. However, the political cost of doing that will be such that no governor would contemplate it lightly. Of course, if he was removed because he was manifestly bad and everyone agrees, the traditional council might agree for a regent to reign in his place until his death and it's time for his son, the crown prince. But, again, even with primogeniture, regency often leads to disputes, as we saw in Ubiaja and other places. Thx for this expatiation. |

Politics › Re: Reno Omokri Gives Reasons For Criticizing Peter Obi by DeepSight(m): 10:42am On May 24, 2024 |
HitlerWasRight: Obi is a student of Zik.
He learnt not only from Zik's success but also from his mistakes.
Zik also had a mob cult behind him who went by the collective name "Zikists".
These were delusional Marxists who saw Zik as their Lenin.
The Zikists were not only highly vitriol like our Obidient mob but also did not shy from commiting acts of terrorism against the British colonial govt. One of their members was arrested after trying to assassinate the British colonial governor.
The Zikist spurn familiar phrases that are used by their descendants today such as "civil disobedience".
At every act of public nuisance and violence carried out by the Zikists, Azikiwe did not hesitate to dissociate himself from the group whom he (Zik) labelled as a "headless mob" - sounds familiar?
It's believed by most historians that Zik lost a bulk of his supporters following his condemnation and dissociation from the Zikist mob and later on, in his rejection of an independent biafran state.
Obi has been trying to avoid all of Zik's mistakes hence why he never cautions or condemns his rabid followers and their Biafra side hustle in IPOB. I am interested in knowing what advised your choice of moniker please. |

We must learn the hard way
Since una say drug addict is the chosen one Do you know the tragedy? Nigeria still will not learn. Something that has become clear to me is that the only two remotely decent leaders this democratic dispensation has produced were handpicked for us. Yaradua and GEJ. OBJ arguably was produced by the military. The other two, (Buhari and the present frog) who emerged in some seeming democratic chaos of its own, are beyond lamentable. No matter what, even if an absolute famine results from BAT's horrific policies, I tell you, I have realized that there will be no learning curve. Not only will many people still vote for him, but they will also still vote for and defend criminals like him. It may take up to a century for this self-destructive trend to change in Nigeria. |

DIVINEEVIDENCE: I would read up on Akaluka, but I would like to know why you term his consolidation drive as illegal. Its not the consolidation I said is illegal. Its the forced bail outs given to banks. He printed N620 Billion to do that. Under the laws of Nigeria, all monies, no matter how sourced (even by printing) first accrue to the Consolidated Revenue Fund and can only be used thereafter according to law, either as per the constitution or under appropriation by the legislature. Sanusi ignored this, and this was very illegal. He was actually summoned by the NASS over this, but he used his gift of the garb to blow the nincompoops away. Bank bail outs were carried out in many countries of the world during the same period and each and every country obtained legislative approval first. Nigeria was the only exception. |
