Sooo, why is everybody quiet?
Bearing in mind that science has demonstrated that there are at least ten dimensions and possibly a thousand more (but we can only perceive 4, four!!, geniuses that we are), and being neither on the side of atheists nor religionists, I want to present the following screenshots.

Also:

Since we have demonstrated that nothing is still something, why can't the universe come from that nothing that is something, and that nothing itself be eternal?

Why is there something instead of nothing?

All these people that have had supernatural experiences, where do they come from? Like this woman below, where are those voices from?

All these "glitches in the matrix", why do they occur?

The two guys, you never asked how cogito was proven wrong - sign of intellectual non-curiosity!
This is too scattered and all over the place. When did science prove ten dimensions please. When did you demonstrate that nothing is something. How and when was "cogito proven wrong?"

Even Ondo State produces more than these states combined!

And yes, almost 90% of Nigeria's oil is produced in the Niger Delta.

I don't agree that infinite regress is impossible.
A thing that is caused necessarily requires a trigger. In the scenario of an infinite regress, one cannot locate a trigger. A trigger is an event that has to occur at a definite point. An infinite regress provides no such point. Extending forever into the infinite past it goes backward in such a way as makes it impossible to locate an event.

To render this lucid, an analogy will suffice. Let us say that the event we are looking for a cause for is the movement of a ball into a goal post. As such, there is a need for the ball to be kicked into the goal post - that will be the definite cause.

But if we look to an infinite regress of causes - in order words, we need someone to give the order to the player to kick the ball, and we need another someone to give that person the instruction to give that order, and we need another person to give the permit to the person giving the instruction to give the order - and so on and so forth into an infinite regress - the ball will never get kicked - the event will never happen.

Now, this is a mere analogy, but variations of it have been used in philosophical thought to help us understand that where there is an infinite regress, there will be no resultant event ever. Therefore logic shows us that where there is a definite caused event, there cannot be an infinite regress of causes.

I sincerely hope this is lucid and crystal clear.

Plus infinite regress is not the only way this thing could be, an infinite cyclical chain is a possibility, not to talk of other unknown possibilities.
With an infinite cyclical chain we would be talking about a self existent thing, which has always existed and keeps cycling itself. Now not only have we agreed that the physical universe is not self existent, but I have given reasons why it cannot be - physical mutable things cannot be self existent.

I didn't agree to 6 & 7. Why can't there be an infinite chain of events? Also why does the chain need to be one direction? What if the chain was cyclical, infinitely cyclical? 6 doesn't get you out of explaining why the so many unknown possibilities are to be discarded in favour of a self existing element.
Are you seriously saying you don't know of the impossibility of an infinite regress in a causative chain?

Of course I have and my cogitations lead me to think there are probably many possibilities I have no conception of and I have very limited tools by which to figure out which of them is most likely. I don't think self existence is the only plausible mechanism for the existence of the "pre-universe thing" to put it simply.
It seems to me you are not factoring the premises in proper order -

1. Something cannot come out of nothing
2. The Universe is Something and it exists
3. The Universe had a beginning, it is not eternal in the past
4. The root elements of the universe - the constituent energy and matter of which it is formed, also have a beginning and are not eternal in the past
5. We agree that a pre existing element must have caused the universe to be
6. An infinite regress of causative pre existing elements is not possible as you cannot have an infinite regress in a causative chain
7. Consequently there must per force be a necessary (permanent and self existent element) at the root of the causative chain for anything whatsoever to exist.

This is the rationale - and it is sound and secure reasoning.

Alot of muslims and non-muslims have been killed for false allegations.

There's no way a muslim would blaspheme Mohamed, they simply wanted the person dead.

1. On 12th May 2021, a Nigerian Home-Economics student was killed after She allegedly made blasphemous statements about Prophet Mohammed in her class's WhatsApp group.

2. On 9 August 2008, a Muslim mob in Kano state beat to death a fifty-year-old Muslim man who blasphemed Mohammed.

3. On 9 February 2008, a Muslim mob rioted in the town of Sumaila in Kano state. The mob acted upon the alleged distribution of a leaflet that allegedly slandered Mohammed. The mob killed a Christian police inspector and two civilians, and wounded twenty others. The mob set fire to vehicles and destroyed the police station.

4. On 28 September 2007, a Muslim mob rioted at Tudun Wada in Kano state. The mob killed nine Christians, burned several churches, and destroyed the homes and businesses of some non-Muslims. The Muslims complained that Christian students had drawn a picture of Mohammed. The Christians reported that the violence erupted after they had prevented one of their members from converting to Islam.

5. On 21 March 2007, a mob of Muslim students and neighbourhood extremists beat to death Christianah Oluwatoyin Oluwasesin, a mother of two and a teacher at Government Secondary School of Gandu in the city of Gombe. A student complained that Oluwasesin, a Christian, had touched a bag which allegedly contained a Quran, and had thereby defiled the Quran.

6. In February 2006, thousands of Muslim rioters went on rampages in different states. The rioters burned churches, torched Christian shops and homes, and killed Christians. The reason for the violence was ostensibly outrage at the publication in the Danish magazine Jyllands-Posten of cartoons that some Muslims consider blasphemous.

7. In February 2006 in Bauchi state, Florence Chuckwu, a Christian teacher, confiscated a copy of a Quran from a pupil who was reading it during an English lesson. The incident provoked rioting by Muslims. The riot killed more than twenty Christians and destroyed two churches.

8. On 20 November 2002, Muslim and Christian mobs rampaged in the cities of Kaduna and Abuja. The rampage began after an article in a daily newspaper, Thisday, suggested that Mohammed would have approved of a Miss World pageant that was taking place in Abuja. Thisday columnist Isioma Daniel wrote that Mohammed would probably have taken a wife from among the contestants. Muslim mobs accused the newspaper of blasphemy, and burned down its office building in Kaduna. Then the mobs attacked churches and properties owned by Christians. Christian mobs confronted the Muslim mobs. Soldiers and police intervened. About two hundred and fifty people died. Isioma Daniel fled Nigeria ahead of a fatwa that called upon Muslims to kill her.

9. On 14 July 1999, in the village of Randali in Kebbi state, a Muslim mob beheaded Abdullahi Umaru. The mob accused Umaru of blasphemy against Mohammed.

I've never been a supporter of APC, the only thing I'm actively against is incompetence of which the leader of the obidient cult is second to none. And it's my sincere belief that despite his failure as a governor, he would have had a good chance of winning the election if his obidients were not so toxic and amateurs, insulting everyone instead of building bridges. And they obviously don't seem to have learnt their lessons.

Obidients (who are usually dense and understand nothing except to insult) keep blaming others for electing APC again but they fail to understand that without them APC would not have won the election

To answer your questions I don't believe what I think has any influence on decisions being made at the top, but here are my answers.

1. Despite the fact that all 3 frontrunners agreed that the subsidy needed to go, I do not agree with them. The petroleum subsidy was one of the few benefits Nigerians were enjoying from the inept government. Our key problem in Nigeria is not lack of money, it is corruption and mismanagement of funds. So if we get a good leader who can plug most of the loopholes in the funds being mismanaged, prosperity will abound.

2. Floatation of the naira: bad and lazy idea that only seems good because they can't think of anything else to do make the naira stronger. Because they're looking for better plasters to stop the bleeding instead of stitching the injury.

3. This is just the beginning. Inflation is going to continue if nothing is done about the basics. Reduce expenses, improve production, have long term goals and plans. So everyone crying now should save their tears for the future because it's going to get worse. Maybe later it will get better if he truly knows what he's doing and cares for the nation, but I doubt.
I am impressed, and I concur with your take on the three posers.

You really believe it changes little? If this is a simulation then the question of what was there before the simulation was launched makes no sense from perspective of those in the simulation, because there is no before that.. From perspective of us in the simulation (which, from our perspective, was launched 13.8 billion years ago) we can only say that reality did not exist before our simulation was launched. It was less than nothing: there was no reality, no existence, no nothing!
No, there would have been the simulator. Still a pre existent thing. And from our view, from the view of those within the simulation, the simulator would be transcendental and beyond time and space.

As you'd see from my response already I disagree that these are the only possibilities. We are so very thoroughly handicapped in exploring this matter since the events are both beyond our current level of ingenuity and the gulf of time that separates us. How can you bring any certainty to this without a solid evidentiary backing?
It is very true that we are terribly handicapped in this matter and that, by the way, is why it is good to be agnostic generally, as stated by the OP, Politeactivist. It is also wise and signals the right humility which we should have in light of our smallness in the vastness of the cosmos.

However the question of inferring that a self existent element must exist for anything to exist at all is a matter of pure deductive and inductive logic. It is not the sort of thing for which some sort of physical evidence can or should be produced.

My puzzlement is why you are so quick to land on this as the explanation. How have you eliminated every other possibility given that we'd not know what this thing even is? Why do you think that this thing we do not know itself is not the outcome of a whole different process we have no conception of? Why is it not possible it was some sort of universe build machine that expends itself in creating a universe? Or even just magic. You insist this is the logical conclusion but you seem to skip all these possibilities to land on this one without showing why.
Any pre existing "universe build machine" would be subject to the same premises. It would either have to be self existent or something else caused it to be - in a chain of causative agents which can only end up with a self existent thing. The principles and premises would remain the same.

You see, that would only amount to pushing the question one step back. Who created the universe? Mr. X. Who created Mr. X? The question with form an infinite regression - which is impossible in a causative chain and can only be logically answered at its root by the existence of something self-existent.
Christianity Etc › Re: Einstein On Freewill; Atheists & Religionists Respond * by DeepSight(m): 2:42pm On Feb 14, 2024
Deepsight:
Good. So you see, the question then remains - what was the nature of that which preceded and triggered it?

Perhaps I should pause a little here to point out why, at all events, since things exist, then something or the other must be self-existent and thus be eternal in the past.

You see, we agreed that something cannot come from nothing. We also agreed that nothingness does not exist. This leaves us only with the existence of "somethings." Now for "somethings" to exist, the only logical possibility is that there is a "something" or there are some somethings which existed by default - i.e: existing was their default state - they were necessary as opposed to contingent things and thus always existed - they were self existential. This is absolutely the only scenario in which anything exists at all, otherwise there would be nothing in existence whatsoever.

The challenge therefore is to identify what those self existential things are. Two of those things are infinite time and infinite space - and these are to be distinguished from the limited and finite time and space we talk about as arising from the big bang - and which are physical or attached to the physical. Infinite time could not but exist, and the same goes for infinite space because in the default state of reality there can exist no boundaries. These two self existential elements form the root of potentialities which is immaterial, and which for me is the fundamental core of the invisible source of all reality - which is what is called God.
Lordreed -

Permit me to add that some people have put it this way - when we look at the premises we have built up and agreed upon, we are left with either a self existent universe or a self existent God. I think we have agreed that the universe and the matter / and energy at its root are not self existent and this leads us to a self existent God, however one may then wish to describe it.

Banish any conception of an anthropological God in conceptualizing this. We are talking simply about a primordial root source and force.

This is the absolute truth and nothing but the truth. Nigerian bankers are the main cause of the dollar crisis we have in Nigeria. They are all criminals pretending to be bankers. Have you ever wondered why Nigerian bankers are the richest bankers in the world. How many actual banking do they do that the likes of Wigwe, Elumelu, Ovia are richer than US, UK, Chinese and even Swiss bankers. Banking business is supposed to be collecting money from customers and lending to other customers and profiting from the difference. Nigerian bankers business model is all about round tripping - they collect money from government at official rates and selling to Nigerians at blackmailer rates through bureau de change and mallam. They are singlehandedly responsible for the destruction of the Naira.

This is why Abacha jailed them all, they are all criminals. When Abacha liberalised the Banking industry, these criminals duped ordinary Nigerians billions of naira with wonder banks. They were the ones that destroyed that noble policy.
As true as what you have written is in terms of dollar profiteering, one cannot say these folk destroyed the naira. They didn't float the naira for heaven's sake. You know who did.
