DesChyko: These aremay be exams for the client. For the provider, these are jobs. They are requests for a sample and the use is entirely at the client's discretion. The rights to the use (and ownership) is what is being paid for. If you had read on, you'd see a review (not sure if that is real or not), where the client said it wasn't up to their expectation. That basically sums it up. What is being paid for is a sample work.
Again, where the OP specifically wrote - "thesis, dissertation, project or assignment" - this argument cannot fly. That is a clear advertisement to write exams for other people. All of those are exams.
I am tired of repeating myself.
Just be well guided and don't end up one day being made a scapegoat. Such is both unethical and illegal. Have a good day.
Before we could strongly condemn such acts, supervisors (of which I'm one of them. (Before they will say one thing, one thing)) should learn how to correct their students in a constructive way. We teach students many things but fail to teach them research methodology properly. That's the root of the problem. Enjoy your day.
Greatzeus: After the announcement by CBN that old notes are to be totally faced out by Feb 10, which was later extended by a week to February 17. And the excruciating cash crunch that followed the policy, certain APC Governors like El-Rufai, Dapo Abiodun, Ganduje etc were confident that Old naira notes will still be spent in Nigeria for a long time and called CBN bluff.
Do you think with the election results that has seen Bola Ahmed Tinubu as President Elect, that the policy will be scrapped and Old naira notes will be allowed to be legal tender again, at least until the new notes are evenly distributed in the country?
Personally, if I were BAT, I would just send a private and quiet message to be delivered through a discreet but influential individual in person to the CBN Governor. Reverse now, or you are gone by sundown on May 29th.
And not just gone oh, I mean gone and off to jail.
backnbeta: This is not allowed in academia. The only service you can contract out is data collection and not the writing whether literature review or post field report writing! On a low, data analysis is allowed by a third party, but then, that's why we do statistics. This is not good, it's intellectual fraud
DesChyko: An essay is any form of writing; including all of which the OP mentioned. It's not restricted to letters and the likes. And offering to provide that service to anyone is not illegal; at least there is no legislation against that.
If he had simply said "Essay writing services, that would be fine." However offering to write a thesis, dissertation, project or assignment - is certainly unethical and illegal.
All of those are examinations of various kinds and what he is advertising is a service to assist clients with cheating.
What you use the sample work for is at your own discretion.
This would have flown if the OP did not specify "thesis, dissertation, project or assignment."
ComputerOperato: Practical is my first name. Now, if your supervisor rejects your project (many supervisors won't even tell you what you did wrong. You will only chop abuse and have your paper flung at you) and you come to me (who provides writing services), I could term it proofreading and write the whole damn thing. That's why I mentioned proofreading (for the legal cover). Cest fini.
Again, it is done all over. So no need castigating him. (I really don't like the brazen advert though).
Once again, you sound so practical I really cant quarrel with what you say - save to reiterate that such practices are unethical and illegal - once its an examination - and such things as a thesis, dissertation, project or assignment - all qualify as exams.
DesChyko: We're talking of essay writing services, not a student's contract with their institution (which can take any form). You're blurring the lines.
You are the one blurring the lines because you defended the OP. If its any general essay, thats fine. But the OP specifically wrote - "thesis, dissertation, project or assignment" - - -
These are exams. And knowingly writing someone else's exam is both unethical and illegal.
Are we still talking about the essay writing services provider here?
Please stop playing the Ostrich and pretending not to have seen the words - "thesis, dissertation, project or assignment." Stop acting as though you dont know what those things are and the implications they have.
DesChyko: Thank you. Essay writing services is a legitimate business enterprise. The legality or illegality of it is solely on the shoulders and at the discretion of the client.
You keep saying "Essay Writing Services" - (which I agree with) and deliberately closing your eyes to what the OP stated. He specifically stated "thesis, dissertations, projects or assignments" - these are not just Essays. These are examinations - ALL of them are examinations for the purpose of awarding a certificate or degree! So this is not just any essay and embarking on such is both unethical and criminal.
Ol boy, you can do Essay writing. Its ok. Its legit. But of its if an academic nature of - paper you know is an examination, then its both unethical and illegal.
And I dont know where you got the idea from that something unethical is "legit." Ethics hold a high place in academia and one will be disqualified or a certificate will be withdrawn even for ethical reasons aside from law.
Unethical? Illegal? In this country? Okay. I hear you.
The country where a large percentage of studies (both undergraduate and postgraduate) are self-sponsored. These people have to choose one: (i) Work and make money to pay the necessary fees (and outsource some of their assignments). (ii) Concentrate on studies and drop out of school due to inability to fulfill the necessary financial obligations. I believe you know which option many people will go for.
As to being legal, nothing stops you from hiring a proofreader to go through your work. And you are back to square one (writing services).
Bottom line. If you have someone sponsoring you in school, you have no business with writing services.
Now you are sounding more practical than the other fellow and I hear you. And no, proof reading is not a problem. I have not addressed myself to proof reading.
However I repeat, having someone else write papers on your behalf, where such papers are of an academic nature and qualify as exams, is both unethical and illegal.
DesChyko: Of course the work must belong to someone, in this case, my client.
I definitely will not be writing my thesis, dissertation, project or assignment and expect me to pay myself??
It must belong to someone who owns the right to the work once the transaction is completed.
I dont understand this. It doesnt make any sense in an academic context. Are you suggesting that purchasing one's thesis, dissertation, project or assignment is acceptable in academia?
What sort of education are you talking about? Do you realize that you are saying one may simply pay his way through all tests in all schools? And that there is nothing wrong with that?
DesChyko: None of these refers to the person providing an essay writing service.
Its certainly applicable to him when he does so knowingly and with the intention of illicit completion of an exam. As I noted, the OP specifically stated that he helps to write "thesis, dissertations, projects and assignments" - all of which qualify as exams."
I also stated that such is unethical in academia. You didnt address that. A thing which is unethical may not be illegal.
I will be greatly surprised if there is any university in the world which will award a degree if it is aware that the recipient did not write his papers himself.
DesChyko: He provides essay writing services which is a perfectly legal job. What for and how that work is used is not his job. I render a legitimate service, I get paid for it; and pay my taxes from it.
Anyone can own K.A. Stroud's Engineering Mathematics; it becomes a person's property when they purchase it. The person who uses it to prepare for an examination and the person who takes it into the hall for an examination have no bearing on the legitimacy of K.A. Stroud's business of producing the work.
His advertisement specifically mentions the writing of "your thesis, dissertation, project or assignment" - All of which are examinations of various kinds.
As a consequence the argument that he is divorced from what the finished work is used for cannot fly.
If you run things differently, say so, and distinguish what you do from what he is doing.
DesChyko: Can you provide the Section of the laws which declares this punishable?
Sections 2 & 3 of the Exam Malpractices Act against procuring any answer sheet (a work done by another person can be so construed) and against impersonating another person (it is impersonation to claim under your name the work of another person for any test which is going to be assessed with marks (such qualifies as an exam).
We just need to know these things. I'm an academic research writer myself and I'm not short on clients. Hell, I even run away from some because the brain can only be pushed so hard 😁
Don't get things twisted. One can hire even a ghost writer for general purposes. Here is the question. Is such permitted in academia?
For purposes of academic assessment, examinations, academic project dissertations to be assessed for degrees. doctorates, professorships?
DesChyko: Nope. What he is advertising is a perfectly legit job opportunity. It's pathetic that you celebrate brazen robbery of people's votes but condemn a legitimate job of producing sample academic work. Enlighten yourself first before putting yourself in the spotlight.
ComputerOperato: If he's not doing a good job, that's one thing. But to those castigating him.... Americans... Indians (especially) and other countries do this. Is ww.scribbr a joke to you?

SenatePresdo: Fine, you shouldn't argue against the truth just to sound intelligent or liberal.
Also -
Has it occurred to you that this is the first time we are seeing Governors who contest for the Senate losing elections - about five so far have lost! This is telling - it shows that the new system has worked to an extent, even if not fully and not properly, and even if rigged in many places. We should therefore not through out the baby with the bath water and should be balanced and fair in our assessment.
wirinet: Even though it's not an ideal world, that doesn't mean we should accept fraud/scams/rigging as normal, and stop striving for idealism. What do you expect dino to do, after numerous assurances from Mahmood Yakubu himself that this would not happen?
Yes there is a possibly of glitches in the system, but not on the scale as experienced on election day and immidiately after. Various reports from party agents, observers and the general public suggests something more sinister by INEC officials handling the BVAS and IReV. Unexpected failures can be ameliorated or substantially corrected, but INEC did not show any willingness to address the issue.
I still don't understand the kind of glitches that would not make most of the BVAS machines malfunction at the same time and unresolveable for over 2 days when INEC has a fully functional IT department specifically dedicated for that purpose.

SenatePresdo: Fine, you shouldn't argue against the truth just to sound intelligent or liberal.
I am not trying to sound any particular way. I am just being practical here. You cant reasonably ask for a cancellation of -
1. The entire election - because irregularities certainly were not everywhere
2. The election based on non-perfection of BVAS implementation - because the law does not say so.
Gather the evidence of malpractices (and there is abundant evidence) - and seek a review or contest the results at the tribunal. This is what is practical.
wirinet: What do you say about Mahmood Yakubu's assurance to the political parties in November 2022 that the results will be uploaded in real time on Election day
And then his volte-face yesterday when Dino asked him to explain why the results were not posted as promised before he starts announcing the results?
In an ideal world, Dino is right, but it is not an ideal world, it is Nigeria.
Do you deny the probability and likelihood of failure of such tech in the Nigerian environment?
Don't get me wrong, I am by no means saying there hasn't been some hanky panky. But you really can't say you expected it to go seamlessly in Nigeria with such tech. No one who has lived in Nigeria can expect that.
And what do you do when the hitches unavoidably show up?
SenatePresdo: Cancellation of the entire result, or declare it inconclusive.
Anything short of uploading results to INEC portal from the polling Units is a sham.
INEC deliberately shut down their portal, as to enable them to rig.
Their whole system is fraudulent and should never be allowed to stand
Do you acknowledge that in Nigeria where nothing works (power/ bank ttransactions/ internet/ petrol/ cash/ water/ security) it is possible and probable that genuine problems with BVAS and IREV can arise?
SenatePresdo: When the Judiciary is heavily compromised, even up to the supreme Court?
If they can bypass electoral process, what is mere Judiciary process that they cannot manipulate?
There is already a heavy tension currently, cancelling or withholding the fraudulent election is the only thing that can quench it.
If INEC announces Tinubu as winner, Nigeria will go into tumoroil.
My major question to you is, if they cancel it what will happen?
Let us first be clear: what are you advocating -
1. A wholesale cancellation of the entire election OR 2. A cancellation of the election only in those places where there were clear irregularities, violence, ballot snatching, etc.
Secondly, is it your position that -
1. The election should be cancelled because of the imperfect deployment of BVAS and IREV IREV OR - 2. Is it not more reasonable that uploads should be completed, however late, and then comparisons are made between what is uploaded and what was declared - as INEC has said will be done upon review based on complaints?
Finally - Take into consideration that ALL the results being announced are signed by all party agents.
SenatePresdo: It will do no harm if it's cancelled, which harm will it do, tell me?
So if an armed robber is stealing from your shop, and you decides to call the police as to stop them.. someone will tell you calling the police to stop the robbery will do more harm, then you allow the thief continue stealing?
One thing with Nigerians is that when evil is favoring them, it becomes a sweet evil.
Believe you me, I have no dog in this race and Bola is someone I deeply despise.
There is a history in this country: and the cancelation of collation will certainly raise tensions - it will be a dangerous step. There is a legitimate way to go about addressing grievances and people should take advantage of the established due processes to do so.
I am also not sure that the law says that where there are glitches or hitches with the technology, an election must be cancelled. Rather, there are other means to proceed with the collation while such hitches are addressed.
You really need to make a very string case for cancellation because its a big deal.
burp18: Interesting timesOrtom failed whole fully in Benue. PDP could have won until it broke up into factions. LP helped Tinubu become president. People were already tired of the APC. Votes that could have guaranteed the PDP a win was split with LP.
And Kwankwaso. And G5.
So effectively PDP broke into four camps - The mainstream PDP, the G5, the Labour Party driven by Obi who departed PDP, and Kwankwaso's NNPP.
You cant break into four like that and not have a problem. Like they didnt learn from what happened to Jonathan when five Governors left PDP .
