anigbajumo: Wat a wack judgement...
Google search highest assists in LA liga Nd Barcelona..
He has played with different players in midfield and forward, let me educate u...
Messi, eto Nd ronaldinho Messi eto Nd henry Messi henry and villa Messi perdro and villa Messi Pedro Nd Sanchez Messi Suarez and neymer Messi Suarez and dembele yet he won best players with 5 of these sets, wat do u guys want again...
U guys said it was because of xavi and iniesta he won word best yet after their departure he has won it 2x and have highest assist with both combine, he is simple the greatest. My line of thought is quite different from what you pointed out over there, infact you only collaborated what I said, playing in the midst of such players helped Messi alot, mind you I didn't say Messi wasn't a terrific player but I still insist that his inability to prove himself outside Barcelona environment will always cast doubt on the claims of his GOAT status to me n others, it's a fact that environment contribute alot to our performances n productivity. |

With exceptional performances which made the Commentator to say that some players are world Class but messi is Messi Class bro... Nobody remembers the second place no matter how many,a team that wins just a single gold medal is always ahead of teams with hundreds of silver medals, maradona won just single world cup for Argentina but he is highly respected till date n if not for his poor discipline he would still be rated ahead of Messi in Argentina. |

mysportdab: Barcelona fans have voted Lionel Messi's wonder striker against Getafe in 2007 as the greatest goal in the club's history, MySportDab reports.
Fans have been voting for three months and there have been over 500,000 votes casted in total.
Sixty four goals were selected at the start of the year and it was narrowed down to three Messi goals and one from Sergi Roberto.
Messi received 45% of the votes for his goal against Getafe, while his goal against Athletic Club in the Copa del Reyfinal took 28% of the votes and 16% voted for his solo run in the Bernabéu in the Champions League.
11% of people thought Roberto's strike that completed a remarkable turnaround against Paris Saint-Germain in 2017 was the best goal.
Messi's goal against Getafe consisted of the Argentine picking up the ball on the halfway line before slaloming past several players including the goalkeeper to score.
Watch Video below...
See;https://www.mysportdab.com/2019/03/lionel-messi-solo-goal-vs-getafe-voted.html As long as Messi doesn't prove himself outside the Barcelona environment,I can not accept him as the true GOAT.messi enjoys wonderful assistance from the assemblage of gifted players at Barcelona as compared to the other clubs in la liga,in other league like the English premier this is not always the case, therefore the ability of a player to prove himself over so many leagues no matter what means a lot, that's why I respect Christiano alot especially for his age. |

joshchisimdi: Lai Mohammed while appearing before the House of Representatives’ Committee on Information, National Orientation, Ethics and Values, disclosed that Nigeria is denied foreign loans over herdsmen/farmers’ clashes. According to the Minister of Information and culture, the Federal Government had to engage an international public relations consultant to manage the bad press following the misrepresentation of the clashes between herdsmen and farmers by the foreign media.
He further revealed that they had to send delegations to the United Kingdom and the United States, to execute media campaigns. Lai Mohammed who was asked to explain the engagement of the foreign media and PR lobby consultancy contracts awarded by the Federal Government, disclosed how Nigeria was denied foreign loans over herdsmen/farmers’ clashes.
He said; “This government has been denied loans because of the misinformation that have been spread out there. The world has become a global village and what happens in Nigeria today reverberates all over the world. And we, in the administration, face a lot of challenges, especially from the comments of the foreign media, from the sometimes hostile positions of foreign governments, even foreign parliaments. So, it is the duty of the Ministry of Information to regularly lobby and address international media in the countries.
“I remember that in 2018 we made two trips to the UK and two trips to the US, and these two trips helped tremendously in actually helping the people in the Diaspora and foreign governments to understand the real dynamics of the herdsmen/farmers clashes.“Until we got there, the impression held by many of them was that the thing was Christians/Muslims, North/South and that time we had to book for interviews with CNN, BBC, Aljazeera, Reuters and AFP. I think it is an important part of governance so that if you cannot mould their opinions, at least it can give them the opportunity of hearing our own side of the story.”

The colloquium holds annually to mark the birthday of the former Lagos governor.
This year’s colloquium, which has the theme “Next Level: Work For People”, is ongoing at the International Conference Center (ICC), Abuja .

nairavsdollars: Igbos Have Themselves To Blame For Voting Atiku - APC
The ruling APC said it does not deserve any blame for not zoning the position of Senate President or Deputy Senate President to the South-East.
Rather it said the South-East should blame itself for queuing behind Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the PDP in the just concluded general elections.
The party was reacting to the outburst of Orji Uzor Kalu, who said that unless the APC makes him the Deputy Senate President of the 9th Senate, he will fight to become the Senate President.
Yekini Nabena, Deputy National Publicity Secretary of APC, in a chat with Daily Independent said while nobody is stopping Kalu from contesting for the position of Senate President, the reality is that he cannot win since the zoning arrangement didn’t favour him.
According to him, rather than getting angry with APC leadership, Kalu should blame his people in the South-East for putting all their eggs in one basket by rejecting President Muhammadu Buhari and casting over 90 percent of their votes for Atiku.
“That shouldn’t be a problem. He can contest for the position of Senate President. But the issue is, can he win? Nobody is stopping him from contesting. Igbo people always play themselves out. So, Kalu cannot blame APC.
“He should blame his own people from the South-East. He should blame them because they don’t know how to play politics. They play politics like a one-way thing. They all voted for Atiku in the presidential election. So, now that Atiku lost, who will help people like Orji Kalu? 99.9 percent of them followed Atiku.
“So, what is Kalu crying for? He should go back to his people and educate them on how politics is played especially at the national level. They should play 50-50. If this one didn’t work, the other can work.
“So, Orji Uzor Kalu must go back to his people and educate them because he himself is not worthy to be Senate President or Deputy Senate President. So, if he wants to contest, he can do so. Nobody is stopping him. But I know that he cannot win”, he said. https://www.independent.ng/lawans-senate-presidency-forgone-conclusion-apc/ Just imagine the monumental insults!,orji kalu is not worthy to be in the Senate! by Apc ooh!, igbos were only been played by Apc abinitio, the best option for the igbos was to get a concrete commitment from Atiku n support him fully but okorocha n orji kalu thought they know it all, igbos are the architect of their own problem but it's really a pity that such industrious people can be so played all the time. |

INEC who spoke through its National Commissioner, Alhaji Mohammed Haruna, told politicians across the country to emulate Saraki and his calmness in accepting defeat.
Alhaji Haruna who commended the people of Kwara state for holding peaceful elections, said this on Wednesday at the presentation of Certificate of Return to Alhaji Abdulrahman Abdulrazak, Kwara state governor-elect and 24 elected members of the Kwara State House of Assembly. The INEC National Commissioner who urged the opposition to criticise constructively, appealed to the governor-elect not to see members of the opposition as his enemies. iphedhayhor: By Shola Adekola - Lagos On Mar 27, 2019
As intrigues and counter-intrigues continue amongst members of the National Assembly over the sharing of positions in the coming ninth Assembly, the Senator-Elect for Abia North Senatorial District, Orji Uzor Kalu on Wednesday declared that he would vie for the Senate President should the All Progressives Congress (APC) does not zone the deputy Senate President seat to South-East zone.
Kalu said the federal government cannot afford to edge out the South Eastern part of the country out of distribution of positions in the new dispensation.
Kalu while speaking with some journalists at the international wing of the Murtala Muhammed Airport yesterday, insisted that since the position of the Senate President (SP) had been allocated to the North West that the South East cannot settle for less than the Deputy Senate President (DSP) position.
According to Kalu, as a Senator representing a zone from South East, nothing will stop him from running for the position of the deputy senate president openly on the floor of the Senate.
“I want to respect the party’s wish on the Senate Presidency and the second position is what we are not going to allow to leave the South East. So as far as am concerned, in the South East, I am going to run openly on the floor of the House as Deputy Senate President. I am not going to listen to anybody. Nobody who is going to be the Deputy Senate President is more loyal than I am to the party.
“I learnt they ceded the DSP to the North West, but it is not right to do anything like that. We are going to contest this vehemently on the floor of the house. I have the backing of my colleagues. I am going to be withdrawing from the Senate Presidency to run for DSP because the party is supreme. Whether they gave it to an individual that is left for the party at the national assembly to decide, but for the DSP, I will contest with any candidate on the floor of the house.
“I know our Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole is a listening Chairman and President Muhammadu Buhari is a man of justice. So, if justice must prevail, you bring the Senate President from the North East and DSP from the South East. The chairman is from the South-South, the President is from the North West, the Vice President is from South West, the President of Senate will come from the North East, whether it’s Lawan or Ndume, these people will decide that on the floor of the House.
“So, for me, Nigeria is tripod; Ibo, Yoruba and Hausa. So, we are going to get the DSP and I will fight on the floor of the House like no other person has fought. This is not challenging the party, rather, this is looking for justice.
“Buhari said he will be addressing issues of injustice. This is part of the issues. You cannot tell us to go and be Chief Whip. I don’t have a whip to whip anybody. So, we will be very willing to add values to the nation. I am loyal to the people, I am loyal to Nigeria, which is important. I am not going to be loyal to individuals. You don’t build loyalty to a section of people or individuals.
Vowing to contest the Senate president position if the position of the deputy senate presidency is not zoned to the South East, Kalu declared: “I believe there is a co-existence between the religious people. So, I am not going to be DSP for anybody. Otherwise, if they don’t listen, I will also contest for the Senate President on the floor of the House. I will join the race because it is going to be a shopping matter. I can shop than any other person they are putting there. I have the capacity and capability to shop because the whole thing will be shopping on the floor of the House. If the party continues this way, I will run for the SP.
“Positions are part of representations. I am saying if we have DSP, it gives a sense of belonging to everybody. I am not saying I am representing a section. If they go to a meeting, you have the President, Vice President, Senate President and Deputy Senate President but you don’t have anybody to represent the South East. That is unfair and that is what I am saying.
“I am not a tribalist, but someone who is fair. I want justice. If the party doesn’t want a crack, they should zone it properly through the geopolitical zones of the country. A man who has taken the presidency is not supposed to take the Deputy Senate President.
“We are not going to quarrel, but we will sort it out. We are not going to vote PDP, you should be rest assured of that. We are going to vote for APC members for SP and DSP. I have friends everywhere. It will be a shopping matter. I have over 56 Senators on my radar who have already signed for me for either SP or DSP. They believe in equity.”

Politics › Re: Several ‘flaws’ Identified In Atiku’s Presidential Election ‘server Result’ by Deepthoughts: 7:08pm On Mar 27, 2019 |
ogwoliun: The computation of presidential election results filed before the elections petition tribunal by the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, shows that all accredited votes cast in 33 states of the federation were shared between him and President Muhammadu Buhari.
Mr Buhari was declared the winner for a second term of four years with 15,191,847 votes to defeat Mr Abubakar who polled 11,262,978 votes. The two got lion share of the 27,324,583 valid votes recorded in the election. Over 1.2 million votes were also voided in the course of the election.
However, excerpts of court filings published by PREMIUM TIMES give Mr Abubakar’s state by state breakdown of votes which, he claims, placed him ahead of Mr Buhari with 18,356,732 against the incumbent’s 16,741,430 votes. The result is exclusive of figures from Rivers State.
The Flaws Mr Abubakar’s purported result implies that no invalid votes were recorded in the 33 states, and none of the 71 other presidential candidates obtained any score. In three states; Abia, Bauchi and Cross River, the documents show that the two candidates collectively got votes higher than the number of accredited voters.
Mr Abubakar claims that he obtained the results from the server of the electoral commission, INEC.
The document is included in the petition filed by Mr Abubakar in a suit seeking his declaration as the validly elected president.
The purported result shows that Mr Abubakar defeated the incumbent president by a margin of 1.6 million votes.
The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed the alleged figures as a product of the opposition’s “hallucination.”
Different result: Contrary to Mr Abubakar’s computation, INEC’s official result obtained from the electoral commission’s website show that all the 73 candidates who participated in the election scored some votes.
The result showed that 71 other candidates in the election shared the remnants of 869,758 valid votes collated.
The person who came a distant third in the election, Felix Nicholas, of the Peoples Coalition Party (PCP) scored a total of 110,196 votes.
He was followed by Obadiah Mailafia of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) who polled 97.874.
Gbor Terwase of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) clinched the fifth position with 66,851 votes.
Candidates with least scores are Angela Johnson of Alliance for a United Nigeria (AUN) with 1,092, Abah Elaigwu of Change Advocacy Party (CAP) with 1,111 and Edosomwon Johnson of the Nigeria Democratic Congress Party (NDCP) with 1,192 votes.
The Atiku result In Mr Abubakar’s home state of Adamawa, where INEC officially declared Mr Abubakar winner with 412,266 against Mr Buhari’s 377,488, Mr Abubakar claims that he got 646,080 out of the total 815,680 accredited voters with Mr Buhari scoring 161,600. The result show only the two got all the possible votes.
In Akwa Ibom, Mr Abubakar and Buhari, according to the computation, received all the votes by the 925,370 accredited voters with Mr Abubakar polling 587,431 votes ahead of Mr Buhari’s 337,939.
It is another clean sweep in Enugu as Mr Abubakar claimed that the state’s 965,940 accredited voters gave him 698,119 as against 267,821 for Mr Buhari.
The 1,169,303 voters accredited in Sokoto State, according to the purported result, all shared their votes between Mr Abubakar (552,172) and Mr Buhari (617,131). Mr Abubakar’s 442,380 votes allegedly polled in Taraba and Mr Buhari’s 188,389 votes put together represent 630,769 total accredited votes for the state.
Yobe’s 750,745 accredited votes, Mr Abubakar claims, were shared in total between him and Mr Buhari who got 443,904 against Mr Abubakar’s 306,841
In Zamfara, the result shows that total accredited votes of 792,796 were shared between Messrs Abubakar and Buhari with the former having 379,022 while the latter got 413,774.
Irregularities? Aside the exactitude between summation of figures for the two candidates and the number of accredited voters, there are other issues that are either arithmetic errors or over voting.
In Abia, for example, 853,050 were recorded as “accredited voters (actual)” but the sum of the votes allotted to Mr Abubakar and Buhari alone, outshot the accredited voters by 10,000.
Mr Abubakar, according to the result, polled 664,659 while Mr Buhari obtained 198,391.
It is a similar case in Bauchi, where the total for Messrs Abubakar and Buhari’s purported votes outnumber total accredited voters by 287 votes.
Mr Abubakar claims 187,668 votes a far cry from 854,037 the document said Mr Buhari obtained. The summation comes to 1,041,705 while the document gives the total accredited voters as 1,041,418.
In Cross River, the document shows that votes obtained by the two leading candidates amount to 691,640 which is higher than the 690,890 accredited voters’ figure by a total of 750 votes.
Tribunal Continues Sitting The presidential election petition tribunal has continued to hear Mr Abubakar’s petition against Mr Buhari’s victory.
On Monday, the tribunal granted Mr Abubakar and the PDP the permission to serve the petition on Mr Buhari and the APC through substituted means.
https://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/headlines/322565-several-flaws-identified-in-atikus-presidential-election-server-result.html Apc should stop ranting n just get prepared to meet Atiku in court simple. |

sogodihno: their is nothing to mark in ur word, ur word is useless, saraki is the worst senate president since 1999, anything is beta than saraki as Senate president Some of you for reasons of sentiments you feel everyone should just be a zombie to buhari but that would never happen, the NASS led by the Senate president is never meant to be a rubber stamp of the executive but to check mate the executive, prevent abuse of power n protect public interest, you people hated saraki because he stood his ground n refused to be a stooge of anybody n not because he did anything wrong, you people are always delibrately blind to buhari's short comings n blunders but so quick to pass blame to others for buhari's sake,eg the budget issue,Apc/buhari knew they are supposed to present the estimates before the 3rd quarter elapses considering the long legislative process required for it's passage but buhari will dubiously present the estimates by almost year end n turn around to use media propaganda to blame the NASS for delays,he does this because he wished the NASS will just approve the budget with out scrutiny to pave way for him/his parties "saintly" siphoning of funds, people like you will never see the wrong in that but will want saraki crucified for opposing the dullard, take it or leave it very soon Nigerians will sing the praises of saraki.Apc as a party itself with her mentality of strong men such as buhari, Tinubu, oshiomole etc should brace up for crisis within the next two years that would see buhari been rubbished. |

Tundemuttee: Senator Ali Ndume of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has insisted that he would challenge the decision of the party in choosing Ahmad Lawan to be the next Senate President.
Ndume who addressed journalists in Abuja claimed that he had received an endorsement from President Muhammadu Buhari and National Leader, Bola Tinubu, to become the next leader of the ninth Senate.

Whiteangel1234: Its unfair and treachery to take the goodwill of the people of Anambra South for granted more reason to ban all this small political parties .
APC is a cursed and rejected party in Anambra state , we removed Andy Ubah a sitting APC Senator who also defected from PDP in 2016 .
Ifeanyi Ubah won in an unknown YPP but less than 1 month he have already defected into APC which was entirely rejected in Anambra state . Did He think he won because he can share money ? He did not share money more than Andy Ubah of APC or the ruling APGA candidate yet we voted for him
Its clear he don't want to re-contest for the senate again maybe his plan is to contest for Anambra state Governor in 2022 under APC because as it stand now he is the only high ranking APC member in the whole of Anambra state and maybe positioning himself for Governorship in 2022 . But I want to assure him that his Governorship Ambition in dead on Arrival and when he failed and move back to contest again for Senate he will also be rejected for this treachery and sabotage of our collective intelligence . Now what excuse can he give for decamping other the vain pursuit of selfish political power,if we don't do away with the phenomenon of decamping it will never augur well for us. |
Politics › Re: 2019 Presidency:even Your Family Rejected You–bmo Mocks Atiku For Going To Court by Deepthoughts: 8:03am On Mar 26, 2019 |
edunwablog: The Buhari Media Organisation (BMO) has said Abubakar Atiku’s suit challenging the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari would fail because it lacks merit.
The group said this in a statement signed by its chairman, Niyi Akinsiju and Secretary Cassidy Madueke, on Monday in Abuja, asserting that the suit was a waste of time.
The group said that Atiku knew that he had no chance of victory even before the elections and is only attempting this suit to hoodwink Nigerians and ultimately waste the time of the country’s judiciary.
“Atiku Abubakar has yet to wake up from his hallucination that he can steal a chance to defeat Buhari in an election.
“If the Presidential elections were to hold ten times, Atiku will lose ten times to Buhari.
“Atiku knew it, even before the elections were held, that he never stood a chance at beating Buhari at the poll,’’ the group said.
BMO noted that Atiku’s loss at the 2019 Presidential Poll was evidence of Nigerians rejecting the former Vice President.
The group said that the majority of Nigerians have rejected Atiku and he must come to terms with that.
The group also said it is not against Atiku exercising his constitutional right to seek justice in a court of law.
It therefore insisted that Nigerians are aware that his claim to seeking a mandate in the court is only a pipe-dream as the entirety of his observations lack merit, false and only a waste of time.
The group noted that what the courts would eventually do would be to stamp the authority of victory on Buhari at the end of the day.
The group reiterated that Atiku’s loss started at his polling unit where Buhari beat him.
“The signs were very clear before the elections, during the elections, and with the eventual victory of Buhari been the popular appeal across the country.
“Atiku’s rejection by Nigerians started with his own household,’’ he said.
https://www.akelicious.net/2019/03/2019-presidency-even-your-family.html Hahahahahaaaaah!,Apc are afraid jittery n confused,BMO you'd better go n help buhari to start preparing his defense because Atiku/pdp have certainly got a lot up there sleeves n they are going to hit you guys real bad. |
Politics › Re: Buhari Moves To Prevent National Assembly Hijack by Deepthoughts: 7:58am On Mar 26, 2019 |
titiloyeblog: news @ titiloyeblog.com
All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders yesterday moved to prevent the “hijack” of the new National Assembly leadership. They met with would-be lawmakers.
President Muhammadu Buhari dined with serving APC senators and senators-elect at the New Banquet Hall of the State House.
The meeting came on the heels of a similar parley between APC National Chairman Adams Oshiomhole and House of Representatives members-elect at the Shehu Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja.
At the President’s meeting with the lawmakers were APC leaders, including Lagos, Plateau, Kogi, Kaduna, Jigawa, Kebbi, Zamfara and Osun governors.
Oshiomhole and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, were also present.
Although, details of the meeting were unknown, it is believed to be connected with zoning and selection of the leadership of the Ninth National Assembly.
Unlike in 2015 when the leadership was hijacked by senators, against the wish of the APC leadership, the ruling party is determined to ensure that its wishes prevail now.
The dinner, which started around 8pm, was still in progress at the time of filing this report.
Senators Ahmed Lawan, Ali Ndume and Danjuma Goje have indicated interest in Senate President.
Also yesterday, Oshiomhole ruled out the possibility of the ruling party sharing legislative powers with the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Giving an insight into what to expect from the Ninth National Assembly, the party chair insisted that the mistakes of 2015 would not recur.
The leadership of the National Assembly was constituted on June 8, 2015 against the directive of the party. Those listed for principal offices were meeting at the State House when the lawmakers elected Dr. Bukola Saraki as Senate President and Ike Ekweremadu of the PDP Deputy Senate President.
Addressing the Representatives-elect, Oshiomhole said the APC was not prepared to share principal offices and headship of critical committees with the PDP, except for positions reserved for minority members.
Oshiomhole told the lawmakers that Nigerians have reposed confidence in the APC, giving it overwhelming majority in the House and will use the numerical strength to its advantage.
According to him, Nigerians have punished 15 out of the 16 senators who defected the APC by not re-electing them.
He urged the members to collaborate with the government on the implementation of the party’s programmes.
He said: “The first is the challenge of ensuring that this time around we ensure that we have a leadership of the National Assembly that shares the vision of the executive. Although we speak to separation of power, but there is only one government and unless the various arms pursue the same agenda, it is difficult for the executive to realise its purpose because legislative backing is often required for the executive actions.
“So, I will expect that you bear in mind that we are one family joined together as shown in our broom, with a share commitment to bail Nigeria out of the condition in which we found it in 2015.
“And that you have the numbers and we will use those numbers to ensure that we have a leadership that commands the trust and the respect of all the members of the House of Representatives.
“There will be contestation; that is why we are in democracy, but after the contestation and debate, we have to agree, and once you have agreed, you move forward.
“We have the numbers to produce the Speaker and we will produce the Speaker who must be a member of the APC. We have the numbers to produce the Deputy Speaker and we will use the numbers to produce the Deputy Speaker, who must be a member of the APC. We have the number and we must use the number to elect a House Leader who must be a member of APC.
“We have the numbers and we will use the numbers to produce a Chief Whip and a Deputy Whip who must be members of the APC. I think the only position that we are not interested in is the Minority Leader. Let it remain minor in the hands of the minors in the opposition.
“We will not share power in the House of the Representatives and the leadership must ensure that critical committees that drive government are chaired only by APC members. If the Nigeria people wanted them to be chairmen of committees they would have voted for them.
“So, all the chairmen of committees, except the one that is statutorily reserved for opposition, which is Public Account, they can have that. So, we would not do the kind of thing that happened the last time in which some APC members as members of the leading party became distance spectators in the management of committees, when PDP had majority of the strategic committees in the House, that will not happen in the next Assembly.
“We are aware that they believe they can use the divide and rule by sponsoring many people within our ranks to contest for which of the position so that they then become the king maker and in return the person will offer them some chairmanship seats.
“Honourable members and comrades, I’m sure you are not going to do business with them. We will see them as partners in progress but in democracy, the rule is, and it is a universal rule, majority must have their way but minorities must be allowed to have their say.
“So, the PDP and other minority can have their say, but working together APC must have its way in legislative agenda, in the leadership of the National Assembly and the leadership of the committees in the National Assembly. I thought we should make this thing clear so that those who may not understand what is happening don’t fall into the trap.”
Calling on the would-be lawmakers not to allow anybody to divide them, Oshiomhole said his leadership will consult with President Muhammadu Buhari and all the leaders of the APC.
“We will work out a sensible zoning formula that seeks to carry everybody along and give people chances to demonstrate their capacities and their capabilities. We are working on that,” he said, adding:
“Somebody told me the opposition party people are already doing something, raising money to bribe people and I said, ‘no, we are anti-corruption, we cannot be corrupted’.
“If they bring N1 billion to each member, a PDP person will not be Speaker, a PDP person will not be Deputy Speaker, a PDP person will not be Whip, a PDP person will not be Leader and a PDP person will not take any of the committees that are meant for the ruling party. We are determined to achieve that and be rest assured that the party will stand by you.”
Congratulating the in-coming lawmakers on the electoral victory, the party chairman said: “We are proud that Nigerians in your various constituencies have reposed confidence in the APC.
“I was looking at the number this morning and I realised that at the level of the House of Representatives, the Nigerian people gave the APC a resounding vote of confidence.
“Before the election, we had about 190 members. The Nigerian people elected and re-elected 223 members of the House of Representatives on the platform of the APC. This has given us overwhelming majority, almost two-third that we need even if we want to amend the constitution.
“I like to, on your behalf, thank the Nigerian people for reposing confidence in our party. I would like to say that by the same token, the Nigerian people has reposed less confidence in the major opposition who went into the election with more members and returned with 111 members.
“It is easy the first time to ask people to give you the benefit of the doubt. But when you have occupied an office for four years, and the people choose to favour your party to the extent to which they have favoured the APC, it is a thing of joy. We are grateful to the Nigerian people for giving us the number we need to carry through our legislative agenda.”
Alluding to party supremacy, Oshiomhole said: “For us to be able to enjoy our numerical strength in the House of Representatives, we must recognise that we were elected on a party platform.
“Over the last couple of weeks, I have been invited by INEC to forward names rising from court decisions to the effect that APC has won in a certain constituency even when there is dispute about who is the candidate.
“I am sure that when you went to vote, you did not see the portrait of any candidate, but the logo of the APC, which is the broom. Something unique about the broom is that when you pick a stick of broom, you can easily break it. But when it is together, as it is in our logo, it will be difficult to break.
“The essence of that broom is to remind us that when you are together, we share ideas together, make decisions on the basis of inclusion and we carry everybody along, we encourage debate, contestations and agree that at the end of the day, agreement reached are binding on all, then we will be as strong as the broom in our logo.
“We have called this meeting to remind us that we have a huge task ahead of us. Nigerians have voted the way they did and they expect new vigour and have injected new blood into the House of Representatives and I am sure that you have all come determined to make a difference in the way the National Assembly is run.
“As people who are active, you are very familiar with the issues that bogged down the National Assembly between 2015 and 2019, arising from a unique concussion and I pray that this time around, we have all learnt a lesson from our immediate past and allow the positive lessons of our immediate past to shape our future.
“You have been elected at a very challenging time to provide legislative backing for APC agenda and manifesto. Our President, who has been reelected, reminded us that the three critical issues on which we canvassed for votes in 2015 are still valid even now in 2019.
“The President is doing everything possible to turn the economy around and to ensure that we work and create job led growth and not jobless growth where we celebrate abstract statistics that does not reflect the quality of life of the Nigerian people.
“We must work hard to rebuild the economy, strengthen the private sector, create job, make the business environment friendly, and expand the capacity of our current investors.
“If Nigerians consume what we produce, our economy will grow in double digits and that growth will reflect on the quality of lives of our people. What has been missing has been leadership and that President Buhari has brought.
“We need to sustain and deepen these policies and I sure that some aspects of it will require legislative intervention. We will need to reinvent the manufacturing sector. If we have sensible and sustainable industrial policy in place with appropriate legislative backing to give people the confidence of policy stability, even to cloth half of our population will generate more than ten million jobs in the textile sector alone.
“There is no reason while Michelin should not return to Nigeria, especially if we have sensible industrial and trade policy that discourages the importation of these items which we were producing before. All these need a collaborative National Assembly.
“We need to pursue sensible monetary policies and should not price the funds out of the reach of the ordinary person. There must be coherence in all our policies so that we can witness sustainable growth and get our young people busy.
“President Buhari has a rare opportunity to now think of what legacies to leave behind for Nigerians. He has spoken about corruption and we all know that it is one factor that has destroyed the country.
“What we owe the Nigerian people is to create an environment for people to work and earn a living and for investors to have decent results for their investment and this also requires legislative action.”
