themomentng: Abiodun Akinlade, the preferred candidate of Ibikunle Amosun, governor of Ogun state, for the 2019 governorship election in the state, has defected from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Allied People’s Movement (APM).
The defection of Akinlade, who represents Egbado south and Ipokia federal constituency of Ogun, was announced at the house of representatives on Thursday.
Three other members of the lower legislative chamber also moved to other parties. They are Rabiu Kaugama from Jigawa who moved from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Salisu Koko from Kebbi who also joined APC but from SDP and Mohammed Ajanah from Kogi who defected from APC to PDP.
Akinlade had lost the governorship ticket of the APC to Dapo Abiodun despite all efforts put in place by Amosun to make him secure it.
More to follow… All these people will be fighting oshiomole but don't have the balls to condemn buhari as the leader of the party, ask them n they will tell buhari is not aware of what happened, fool! |

Politics › Re: 2019: Atiku Is Planning To Sell Nigeria On Alibaba- Sowore by Deepthoughts: 10:09am On Nov 29, 2018 |
lekanolas: Presidential campaign ahead of the 2019 elections has officially kicked off, and as expected, the verbal fireworks from the candidates have begun.
On Wednesday, the Presidential candidate of the Africa Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore was a guest of Bounce News’ #60Minutes, where he entertained questions from viewers on his campaign agenda.
One of the issues he spoke about is the proposed sale of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC by former vice president Atiku Abubakar who is the candidate of the PDP.
Sowore was asked what he planned to do with the corporation if elected since the current administration’s efforts at un-bundling it have yielded little results.
Here is what he said: “The person who unbundled NNPC probably didn’t even understand the meaning of unbundling. You cannot unbundle NNPC and then make yourself the minister of Petroleum Resources. And then he made the Chief of Staff the member of the board of NNPC.”
On the proposed sale of NNPC by Atiku, he said: “The man who wants to sell NNPC spent 8 years of his life as the vice president of Nigeria selling off whatever they could sell, but where did that take us?
“The NNPC that Atiku is planning to sell, he is not going to use the money from that sale on Nigerian people. In the first place, who is Atiku going to sell NNPC to? He is going to sell it to Atiku.
Read More: Unlike Atiku, Buhari Says Privatising NNPC Not His Government’s Priority
“Atiku bought a bunch of companies. He is one of a few Nigerians that cannot explain how he made his wealth and if he is already telling you that he wants to sell NNPC, you can understand that he is going to put Nigeria on Alibaba for sale.
“And that is why he is leading a charge; they are charging towards Nigeria right now, a bunch of criminals are waiting in the wings so that as soon as Atiku wins, they can’t wait to sell whatever they can find in this country to themselves and take over the country and all of you who are ‘Atikulating’ will find yourselves completely ‘Atikulooted’ by the time they are done. That is what they are used to doing.”
But what does he plan to do with the corporation if he is elected?
He said: “What we need to understand is that this entity belongs to the Nigerian people. Run the place transparently with very competent and honest Nigerians and make the wealth from there available to the Nigerian people.
“You know what I would prefer to do instead of giving oil blocks to politicians, I will give it to universities, so that whatever profit they make, they can invest in education.
“They can invest it as part of the university’s wealth to create more opportunity for young people to go to school. I am just giving that as an example, it is not part of our manifesto yet, but these are progressive and creative ways of investing in the future.”
http://news.bounce.ng/Content/2019-atiku-is-planning-to-sell-nigeria-on-alibaba-sowore-20181128 sowore made so much noise without answering a simple question, how many of the refineries in the US or other developed countries are own by the government?, business in the developed countries we always make references to is control by the private sector, this is path Atiku want to drive Nigeria economy on,but sentiments n hate induced by propaganda will not let us see reasons, when dangote petrochemicals finally comes on stream then we will realize our folly, this was exactly how sentiments was used to prevent Awolowo from ruling this country despite his proven capacity, competence n achievements. |

Politics › Re: My Son In-law Will Contest Imo Gov’ship In Another Party – Okorocha by Deepthoughts: 10:08am On Nov 28, 2018 |
JosEast: Governor Rochas Okorocha, yesterday, gave a hint that his son-in-law and former Chief of Staff, Uche Nwosu, will vie for the Imo State governorship on the platform of another party.
Nwosu, who is also a governorship contender of the APC, and others who did not make it during the recent primary elections, would most likely quit the ruling party for another to pursue their ambitions.
Okorocha said he would not stop any of his aggrieved loyalists from defecting.
Our correspondent gathered that no fewer than 27 members of the Imo State House of Assembly and National Assembly candidates, including Nwosu, who felt aggrieved from the conduct the APC primaries, may be heading to another party before the substitution window closes on December 1.
Okorocha said while he would support their aspirations elsewhere, he remained in APC and would contest the Orlu senatorial election under the party.
The governor, however, maintained that Nwosu and all the aggrieved candidates remained his choices and would get his support under any platform they chose to realise their ambitions.
Okorocha, speaking at a media parley in Owerri, said Nwosu under whatever platform remained his preferred governorship candidate, describing the emergence of the APC governorship candidate, Senator Hope Uzodinma, as “the worst imposition in Nigerian political history.”
But the Imo governor reassured President Muhammadu Buhari that his followers would deliver him at the presidential election and vowed to deal with any of them who disobeyed him.
According to him, “What will happen is that while they move to realise their ambition under any other platform, I remain in APC and support them. Such parties will have no presidential candidate, but will adopt President Muhammadu Buhari as their candidate.
“What we saw in Imo APC was a clear case of injustice and the worst imposition in history. The party members are aggrieved and they will be moving to another party to pursue their ambitions and I am not going to stop them, but we are going to form alliance with whichever party they choose to deliver President Buhari.
“In the 2019 general elections, we are going to vote for candidates and not political parties. I am in the best position to assess the candidates and I know that among all the governorship candidates, Nwosu remains the best. I have told Imo people to check the records of those clamouring to govern the state before voting for them.
“What is happening in Imo APC is interesting and strange, a party known for uprightness, justice and fairness as exemplified by President Muhammadu Buhari, has been dented by the actions of the national chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, for whatever reasons he is yet to disclose.
“I have been trying to manage the situation but I have no moral justification to stop the aggrieved candidates who felt short-changed from realizing their ambitions in any other party but I have not left APC and do not intend to leave APC. But you must realize that in Imo we don’t play party politics but politics of individuals. People did not join APC because of anybody but because of me,” he said.
Okorocha expressed regret that Imo people were short-changed by the three major political parties – APC, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) – in their choice of governorship candidates, saying that all of them were imposed on the people.
When Daily Trust sought the views of Nwosu on the comments of the governor, he was non-committal.
Nwosu, who was silent on his next line of action, however, gave assurance that he would mobilize all the aggrieved APC members to work for President Buhari’s victory in spite of any provocation.
He said the actions of the APC national chairman would not affect his support for President Muhammadu Buhari.
https://www.dailytrust.com.ng/my-son-in-law-will-contest-imo-govship-in-another-party-okorocha.html This is an opportunity for imo people to proof how wise or foolish they are,the choice is theirs. |

PreciousJuice: God have mercy, How can anyone hoping for a better future in this damned nation wish to have NNPC privatised?? NEPA was privatised few years ago not up to a decade, fast forward to today, phcn now laments insufficient resources and capacity to handle the nation's electricity sector, why? Because loans have been acquired by the shareholders in order to haste profit making and some of the phcn assets are used as collateral, I mean they (shareholders) are investors doing business for the sole purpose of making profits, not investing to serve the nation, NO Privatising either 50 or 90% of NNPC simply means, allowing Atiku (if elected) to sell to his conglomerates and associates, thereby making him and his cohorts the driving force of the nation's main economy ( crude oil) I am not supporting this chaotic move, To all social media influencers and bloggers of backwardness, continue getting paid to confuse the nation, you all are on a fruitless mission, this country will NEVER go back to a state of deceptive and rotten leadership, Well meaning Nigerians like me that are not politically motivated but rising to a clarion call for patriotism will exercise our voting right come 2019, we are very aware ATIKU is never an option for us. Thanks to this thread, I can finally express my thoughts on Atiku and NNPC privatisation. Go and sit down, don't let hate induced by propaganda becloud your judgement.NITEL was not privatised, what's it fate today with the coming of the GSM companies?,same fate awaits the NNPC/REFINERIES when dangote petrochemicals n the likes comes on stream soon, the singular major reason why NEPA appear to fail is because the level of tarriff n customer metering is very poor which makes revenue generation or recovery to be poor n unattractive to attract massive investment unlike the GSM,it certainly takes proper know how, dexterity, sagacity, courage, discipline n determination to successfully establish n continuously manage business for years no matter the origin of that business so Atiku certainly deserves commendation n a chance to pilot the affairs of this country,it was this same kind of sentiments n hate that caused Nigeria to loss the leadership of Awolowo n what it would have brought despite his clear examplified capacity. |

Politics › Re: We’ll Miss 2019 Target For Refineries’ Revamp – Kachikwu by Deepthoughts: 12:01pm On Nov 27, 2018 |
nwakibie3: ’Femi Asu
The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr Ibe Kachikwu, has said the plan to get the nation’s ailing refineries to work at almost full capacity will not materialise by 2019.
Kachikwu stated this on Monday in Lagos at the 18th edition of the International HSE Biennial Conference on the Oil and Gas Industry in Nigeria organised by the Department of Petroleum Resources, in conjunction with other stakeholders.
Last year, the minister vowed to resign if the country failed to attain self-sufficiency in the refining of petroleum products by 2019.
When asked to state the year that Nigeria would be self-sufficient in refining petroleum products, Kachikwu, who was a guest on BBC Hard Talk in London on May 22, 2017, replied, “I have said 2019, and that is the target that I gave.”
Earlier on May 4, 2017, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation expressed commitment to actualise the December 2019 target set by the Federal Government to end the importation of petroleum products into the country.
The Group Managing Director, NNPC, Dr Maikanti Baru, was quoted in a statement as saying at the Nigeria Oil Industry Award Dinner during the Offshore Technology Conference 2018 in Houston, United States, that measures had been taken to achieve the target.
He explained that in terms of refining and production of local petroleum products, the ongoing arrangement with the original builders of the refineries to return them to at least 90 per cent capacity utilisation before the 2019 deadline was still intact.
Kachikwu said on Monday in a keynote address that 10 out of the over 40 licensed modular refineries had got into serious work, with three likely to come on stream towards the end of next year.
He said work was ongoing on the four refineries owned by the NNPC, adding, “Hopefully in the next board meeting next week, we will be able to come to final landing on the commercial terms for those investments. If we do, that brings in the processing of 445,000 barrels of crude.
“Even though I had wanted in my usual bullish nature to get this thing driven so that we can have all the refineries working by end of 2019, obviously it will slip a bit. But what is important that we must begin the process. We are going to deliver those barrels refined by 2020, so be it.”
On the refinery being built by Aliko Dangote in Lagos, with a capacity of 650,000 barrels per day, the minister said, “We are working very hard with him on it.”
The PUNCH reported on November 8, 2019 that the proposed rehabilitation of the nation’s refineries had suffered delays as the third-party financiers for the project had yet to be announced, more than a year after the NNPC said 28 firms had expressed interest in its financing.
Nigeria has four refineries, two in Port Harcourt and one each in Kaduna and Warri, with an installed capacity of 445,000 bpd, but they have continued to operate far below the installed capacity for many years.
https://punchng.com/well-miss-2019-target-for-refineries-revamp-kachikwu/ If the refineries are not sold like Atiku said the same fate that befell nitel with the Advent of GSM will befall the refineries when dangote petrochemicals finally comes on stream then we all realise our folly. |
Politics › Re: Boko Haram Kills 70 Soldiers In Metele, Borno State - Premium Times by Deepthoughts: 8:54pm On Nov 22, 2018 |
Splashme: HOW BOKO HARAM KILLED OVER SOLDIERS IN METELE ATTACK - SURVIVOR
A Nigerian soldier who survived the deadly attack on a military base in the northern part of Borno State on Monday said they suffered a heavy casualty due to lack of adequate weapons.
The soldier, who managed to escape the attack alongside other injured troops, said at least 70 soldiers died in the attack.
He said the corpses of the slain Nigerian soldiers are yet to be evacuated, days after Boko Haram took advantage of their lack of munitions, and dealt them a devastating defeat.
The attack at Metele village in Guzamala local government area of the state happened on Monday evening.
PREMIUM TIMES broke the story on Tuesday detailing how rampaging Boko Haram insurgents overran a Nigerian Army battalion in Borno State on Sunday, killing the unit’s commander and dozens of soldiers.
Military sources told PREMIUM TIMES that large cache of arms, ammunition, and military equipment were carted away by Boko Haram fighters during the attack on 157 Task Force Battalion in Metele, Guzamala Local Government Area, at about 6:00 p.m.
Security analysts described the attack as a huge setback for government forces trying to push terrorists further out of Nigeria’s north-eastern flank.
The attack came amidst rising fears for the fate of the troops from the base, which has suffered several attacks in recent past.
PREMIUM TIMES reported on Monday that there were efforts being made to evacuate corpses of the fallen soldiers on Tuesday morning.
But according to some of the soldiers who survived the attack, the move to evacuate the littering corpses was thwarted by the Boko Haram fighters who held their ground and forced the soldiers to abandon the mission.
How Metele was attacked According to the soldier who survived the attack, their location was invaded after Boko Haram allegedly issued a threat letter last Friday that it would soon take over four strategic military locations around the Lake Chad region.
PREMIUM TIMES has not been able to see or confirm any copy of the threat letter mentioned by the military sources.
“The attack came at about 6pm on Monday evening”, said the soldier.
“When the soldier on top of the observation post alerted that a large number of Boko Haram fighters were advancing, we all got alarmed as we took cover and waited within the base in Metele.
“The fight did not last for more than 45 minutes; but it was bloody because the Boko Haram fighters had more armament advantage that the soldiers.
“When we realised the fight would be against us, we decided to retreat from the camp, but it was rather too late. The camp was surrounded with barbed wire, and the enemy fire was coming from the direction of the entrance. We were like surrounded.
“One of the drivers of the gun trucks decided to push through the barbed wire so that other vehicles could follow and escape, but the truck got stuck, that was how many of our soldiers in other vehicles and those on foot were massacred.
“Those that managed to escape with injuries made it on foot through Cross-Kauwa to Monguno where they boarded commercial vehicles, some even sat in the booth of the Golf cars to get to Maiduguri.
“The Boko Haram made away with about seven gun trucks of the Nigeria army.
The senior non-commissioned military source said no fewer than 70 soldiers were killed while many others who were outgunned by the Boko Haram fighters had to flee.
The soldier, who claimed to have made it to Maiduguri on foot after escaping the heated battle, said an attempt to return to the battlefield to evacuate the bodies of the fallen heroes was thwarted by another attack from the insurgents.
The soldier, who pleaded strict anonymity in this report, informed PREMIUM TIMES that troops in the field are still facing serious challenges of inadequate ammunition and motivation.
The soldier said the deployed team that went to evacuate the bodies of the soldiers could only pick about five corpses before they suffered yet another ambush attack from Boko Haram fighters, forcing them to abandon the mission and fled.
“Up till yesterday, Wednesday, the evacuation of the corpses have not been completed, to the best of my knowledge,” he said.
The source said troops have been recording death of many soldiers almost on a daily basis as Boko Haram sustained attacks on military formations.
“We need the world to hear how we are being sent to slaughter as though our lives don’t matter,” he said.
It could be recalled that on August 12, a group of soldiers stationed at the Maiduguri International Airport staged what seemed a mutiny following a protest over military authority’s move to redeploy them to the frontline.
The soldiers insisted that the redeployment would put them in danger following the fact that those deployed earlier suffered serious casualty due to inadequate arms and ammunition.
The military command in Maiduguri dispelled the claims of the soldiers and some of the revolting soldiers were later court-martialled.
The source to this report said despite the protest and the subsequent court-martial, some of the soldiers that were deployed still suffered the fate that befell their colleagues.
“Some few weeks ago, about 75 of us from our own unit here in Maiduguri were deployed to the front line and it took the grace of God for about 40 of us to return alive.
“When we returned and gave our complaint, we were asked to go back again to Metele, an area near Kangarwa forest, and we have been there for about three weeks now fighting a defensive battle.
“We beg the Nigerian media to help us by echoing out our muffled voices. The children of poor Nigerians have been turned into chicken meant for easy sacrifices by our commanders.
“We are being killed on daily basis as if our lives don’t matter. Of course as soldiers we signed to lay down our lives in defence of this country, but certainly not in the manner we are being presented for slaughter without dignity. A soldier should die fitting and not being chased or overpowered.
“Our morale has been dampened so badly – not only because we are not given our due allowances; but for the fact that we have been outgunned by the Boko Haram.
“The situation has gone so bad that it has gotten to a stage that soldiers would be rushing to pack up their camps and flee upon hearing the news that Boko Haram fighters are advancing.
“We have suddenly lost our spirit of launching attacks because of lack of resources to prosecute the battle. Many of us are ready to do our best, but there has been no requisite support from those sending us out there.
“As I am talking to you now, we have about 70 corpses of soldiers littering the battleground in Metele and when we went to evacuate them on Monday, the Boko Haram gunmen came out in large numbers from all angles – so we had to abandon the corpses after just picking five of them. We left most of the corpses there as I am talking to you now.
“The media need to give this clear picture to the world – Nigerians need to know what we are facing here in the battlefield. Only some of us that escaped managed to get to Maiduguri on Tuesday, but many others are yet to surface.
“The fact of the matter is that we still have a very large number of Boko Haram terrorists out there. As far as the Nigerian army is concerned, it will take more than ten years to chase out Boko Haram from our hinterlands, without the help of foreign forces.
“We can only brag that we can defeat them; but in reality, we lack the capacity to do so, given the kind of approach we accord to prosecuting the war.”
Metele is, for now, regarded as one of the strongholds of Boko Haram in the northern part of Borno State.
It could be recalled that it was in Metele that about 18 Nigeria soldiers were killed and about 151 soldiers and six officered were declared missing when insurgents raided an outpost of 157 Battalion on October 8.
The military had reported that it had killed at least 76 Boko Haram fighters in Metele while giving seven soldiers dead and 16 injured as the official figures of casualties recorded during the attack no troops’ location.
The military, both at the army headquarters, Abuja and at the theatre command in Maiduguri, have not responded to text messages sent to them by PREMIUM TIMES for this report.
https://www.premiumtimesng.com/regional/nnorth-east/296967-how-boko-haram-killed-over-70-soldiers-in-metele-attack-survivor.html There is something I don't understand with this report,in one breath the army are complaining of lack of arms,in another breath the army said the victorious Boko Haram took away a large cache of arms n amunitions, one even get the impression of poor synergy n coordination amongst the military in this fight, how can this kind of attack occurred n last without prompt air support for ground troops,I think the army need to have her own air combat wing at Least with attack helicopters n drones which can be easily operated any for close operational n combat support instead of depending on the air Force all the time, the air Force can be call in for when jet fighters, bombers or massive air transport is required, this buhari/Apc administration has been decieving Nigerians all along in this fight against Boko Haram by blocking media reportage of the true state of the war but polluting the air daily with imaginary Fabrications n propaganda of triumphs while blaming pdp just to cover up their lies n deciets, where is the over one billion dollars that was withdrawn for the fight against the widely decimated Boko Haram?,very soon keyamo will claim the pdp imported the Boko Haram fighters to discredit buhari, it's time we sack buhari n his gang n give Atiku s chance if he fails we boot him out too.may the souls of late soldiers rest in peace n God's blessings n mercy upon the bereaved families. |

Nigerian Crime Buster, Abba Kyari has finally come out to clear the air over the death of the notorious armed robber, Michael Adikwu who died in police custody yesterday.

"Notwithstanding that he confessed to have Personally killed 22 innocent Citizens on the day of the Offa Bank Robberies and the fact that he was previously charged to court for another Armed robbery and was granted bail by the Court before he masterminded the Offa bank Robberies, We Still wanted him Alive to Recover more Rifles and intended Charging him to court again before he got Sick and died at the beginning of the case."
"Pls Nigerians Should be Aware that Offa Bank Robber Micheal Adigun is not Among the 5 that Publicly Confessed to be Political Thugs and all those 5 are alive and Charged to Court already. "We have nothing to hide on the death of One Armed Robber among Plenty we arrested and we are Open to any form of Investigation that can be done on the death of this Notorious Bank Robber as we continue our unrelenting Search for the remaining gangmembers at Large."

The demand was contained in a statement by Mr Saraki’s Special Adviser (Media and Publicity), Yusuph Olaniyonu, while reacting to a statement by Kwara State Commissioner for Justice, Kamal Ajibade.

Cc, Lalasticlala There is hardly any politician in Nigeria that doesn't relate with thugs, what the accusers of saraki should prove is whether saraki procured arms for those thugs n whether he asked them to engage in arm robbery for any reason. But if political thuggery n its usage is a crime then police should simply charge all of Nigerian politicians to court n stop the disgraceful attempt of destroying saraki by hook or crook. |

Mustapha stated this today when President Buhari met with a delegation of South East leaders in the state house in Abuja.
Speaking to state house correspondents after the meeting, Mustapha said that the fastest way for the Igbos to acqualize their dream of occupying the seat of power, is for the region to support the Buhari re-election bid in 2019 and then by 2023, the Igbo presidency can now become a reality.

Atiku is a petty liar cum thief. He sold national assets to himself at give away prices and also turned the largest port in Nigeria to his private use for smuggling ( ask Nuhu Ribadu), thus , depriving Nigeria revenue.
Atiku, a corrupt retired customs officer who became the subject of an academic research on International corruption by an ivy league school in the US.
Atiku is only being supported by enemies of Nigeria who have vowed to wreck the ship of our country.
Sane and patriotic Nigerians are duty and honour bound to defend our Nation and her commonwealth from criminals like Atiku at all cost. God bless Nigeria.. God bless PMB God bless PYO FeBUHARI 2019...set your alarm Onto the next level Even if Atiku is a thief we shall vote him, he is better than your fake, despotic, nepotistic, bigoted n fundamentalist saint!. |

EmagNig: Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, has mentioned that even though it is true the current administration promised change to Nigerians, it didn't mention it will come within 4 years.
Fashola said this at the inauguration of President Buhari’s 2019 campaign in Ikeja, Lagos State on Tuesday November 20th.
“In 2014, we said we would change Nigeria but we did not say we will do it in four years. This election therefore is a choice between going forward to the next level or backward because the work has already begun.
Since I became a minister, the president has never interfered in what I do. He has never lobbied me for contract and I can assure you that it is like that with other ministers.
The oil revenue the former government took advantage of, what did they use it for?” he asked
Speaking further, Fashola took a swipe at the main opposition party, PDP. According to him, the opposition would not have lost the election in 2015 if they had performed very well.
“We have watched what happened in 16 years of nothing to show. Some people are trying to rewrite history now. You don’t sack a good employee. If they are living in delusion and say it was good governance, why did they lose the job? In 2017, the budget on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway was cut from N30 billion to N10 billion. You know who was presiding (then).
“Buhari has inaugurated an infrastructure development fund to ensure that Lagos-Ibadan, Second Niger Bridge and Abuja to Kano Road would never suffer funding problem again. Just yesterday, the two contractors on the Lagos Ibadan Expressway got a total of N15 billion to continue the work. The same thing is true of the Ikorodu-Sagamu Road. That road, for 16 years, was nothing to write about.”
https://lailasnews.com/we-promised-change-to-nigerians-but-not-in-4-years-fashola-says/ Just imagine the foolish talk, inadvertently fashola is only indicting himself n Apc.ok you didn't promise the change in four years but you haven't promise it in eight years either but you are vituperating nonsense about a mirage of next level,is bringing about change now rocket science?,in your very ministry pdp built so many power stations olorunshogo,Alaoju etc leaving an install generation capacity of over 7000 MW,you came n marginally increased the transmission capacity which was already itself work in progress n claims you increased power generation capacity above 7000MW with out building a single new plant, you can fool those who are not well informed or blinded by sentiments but not every other person, but if you feel propaganda will always see you through then keep it up. |
Politics › Re: Jonathan Reveals Those Who Advised Him Not To Concede Defeat To Buhari In 2015 by Deepthoughts: 8:27am On Nov 21, 2018 |
Gistpeeps: https://static.pulse.ng/img/incoming/origs8001860/549636998-w644-h960/Goodluck-Jonathan.gif
Former President Goodluck Jonathan has revealed how he was advised against accepting defeat in the 2015 presidential election.
Jonathan also declared that the election was marred with some irregularities, including the difficulty he faced before he could vote in his native Otuoke, Bayelsa State home.
The ex-president said he conceded defeat principally because it was his belief that his ambition should not lead to loss of lives and property as it was the case in previous elections.
The revelations are contained in the former President’s book, “My Transition Hours”, which was presented in Abuja yesterday on his 61st birthday.
Jonathan said he turned down the advice by the then Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala; Attorney-General of the Federation and Justice Minister Mohammed Bello Adoke; Aviation Minister Osita Chidoka, who was a compere at the book launch; and his Senior Special Assistant on Domestic Affairs, Warpamowei Dudafa.
He writes: “They were recommending sundry alternatives, but I was quiet in the midst of their discussions. I hugged my thought, figuring out how to do that which was best for the country. My personal interest was receding rapidly and the interest of Nigeria looming large. I excused myself and left the sitting room. I walked into my study. Even there, my mantra was a strong circle around me, supporting and comforting me. Let the country survive. Let democracy survive. My political ambition is not worth people being ‘soaked in blood’.”
On how and why he called to concede victory to Buhari, he wrote: “More results flowed in and I could not wait anymore. The announcement of the final result could take issues out of all our hands. It was time for me to take action and bring peace to the nation. I felt I was destined by God at that point in time to inject the peace serum and douse the palpable tension in the country.
“I reached out for his telephone and placed a call through the State House operators at about 4:45pm. A peace I had never felt since my political sojourn descended on me. It showed me where I had been in the past sixteen years and where I was then. I smiled at the thought of what I was about to do. I waited calmly for the person at the end of my call to answer.
“My Aviation Minister, Osita Chidoka, sought my permission to tweet my phone conversation with Buhari. I obliged and he did. The country was no longer waiting for the declaration of the election results. The nationwide tension automatically dissipated as through a red hot piece of iron had been dipped in a bowl of water. Thereafter, I addressed the nation.”

Politics › Re: APC Crisis: Tinubu Regains ‘control’ Of Ogun, Ondo, Ekiti by Deepthoughts: 8:14am On Nov 21, 2018 |
nairavsdollars: By Temidayo Akinsuyi
Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, a national leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), is gradually regaining his lost ‘territories’ in the South West with support from Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, the embattled national chairman of the party, Daily Independent has gathered.
A member of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), who spoke with our correspondent on condition of anonymity, said one of Oshiomhole’s major assignments since assuming office is to put some states in the South West that were hitherto out of Tinubu’s control under his command.
He said it is likely that he will also make incursions into other states such as Kogi and Kwara.
The states, according to him, are Ogun, Ekiti, Ondo and even Lagos, where the incumbent governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, tried asserting his independence before he was subdued.
According to our source, Tinubu will likely take control of the political structures of Kogi State where his efforts to install one of his protégés, James Faleke, lawmaker representing Ikeja Federal Constituency as the deputy governor to the late Abubakar Audu, who died in November 2015 before a winner could be announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
But for high-level politics and opposition by the cabal and the former national chairman of the party, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, Faleke would have stepped in as the governorship candidate. However, the party gave it to Yahaya Bello, the incumbent governor, who came second in the primaries.
Our source, who said Tinubu is also making incursions into Kwara State, especially with the party’s victory in the just concluded bye election in the state, said the moves might not be unconnected with Tinubu’s rumoured presidential ambition in 2023.
He added that the recent impeachment of the principal officers of the Ondo State House of Assembly is also one of the moves to put Tinubu’s loyalists in charge.
He said, “Oshiomhole is doing Tinubu’s bidding. People like Amosun and Akeredolu know that and that is why they want him removed as national chairman.
“You can see what is going on in some states of the South West. They are trying to change the existing structures and put in those loyal to Tinubu.
“What is going on now is that those who fought with Tinubu during the tenure of Chief John Oyegun are now being attacked, people like Amosun, Fayemi, Akeredolu and others. It is more of a retaliation. He is trying to gain back the powers he had lost in the region. To do that, he has to use Oshiomhole to do the dirty job.
“Most of these things are just about the presidential ambition of one man in 2023”.
On the fate of Oshiomhole, he said majority of the party members want him out but are trying to be careful so the crisis won’t affect the party’s chances especially with few weeks to the general elections.
“Almost everybody in the party is not in support of him. They all want him to go. Those who are not coming out in the open, especially the ministers are doing so out of respect for President Muhammadu Buhari.
“The only thing is that we are trying to be careful so as not to give the opposition the opportunity to take advantage of the crisis in our party.
“If we say the national chairman is corrupt or he was removed because of financial misconduct that means he has to be arrested and tried. That is what the party stands for, fighting of corruption.
“Already, the Buhari administration has been accused of shielding corrupt APC members. So, if this happens in the case of the national chairman, PDP will be on our neck that he must be prosecuted and we can’t afford to take chances with few weeks to the election”, he said.

You think you're marketing a new candidate who hasn't been in government before? By the way, Buhari attended debates in 2007 & 2011! Abeg remind me, did Atiku attend in 2007 when he contested under ACN? Atiku has never been the head of government before so the talk of been in before between him n buhari is faulty for a start, even with that don't think everyone is of the indomie generation that you can decieve with lies about buhari's past,I witness first-hand buhari's stewardship n the hardship it brought in 1984,I witnessed his biased n nepotistic handling of PTF during Abacha the same thing he is doing now, isn't a big shame that buhari has not ,done anything successful in private other than claiming false credits in government, you accuse PDP of been looters but you are very willing to accept n accommodate the same looters in your party shameless hypocrites, since buhari is a veteran of debates we expect he wouldn't be scared this time around also so start getting him prepared. |

You're still very bitter about the defeat of the ineffectual buffoon from Otuoke & that's the main reason you want Buhari & APC out! Everyone (or almost everyone) is going to be voting who he/she likes based on party, tribal & religious sentiments, & not because the person would work! So quit this your mumu justification for voting Atiku the thief! Vote your own, make others vote their own!
Atiku won't enter, & even if he enters & fails, you'll not vote him out! You will still continue to vote your beloved satanic & demonic PDP like you've done since 1999, even at the expense of an Ojukwu who the ibos claim they adore so much! Thanks,at least you admitted to the possibility of Atiku entering!,you also admitted that people like you are only supporting buhari out of sentiments n not competence, but keep up your sentiments,we shall see how it goes ok. |

correctbae: A video has shown the moment two Nigerian men were caught on camera exchanging heavy blows while arguing about President Muhamamdu Buhari.
The two unidentified men who are obviously from the northern part of Nigeria were speaking about the president in Hausa language when the fight broke out between them publicly.
The young men were discussing about the state of the nation and one of them proceeded to lament bitterly explaining that the country has become worse under the leadership of Buhari. However, the other man disagreed and warned him not to speak of the president in that manner because Buhari is a good leader. Their disagreement led to a bitter argument which soon turned physical. The two men then exchanged blows and observers had to intervene.

Politics › Re: APC Built Train Stations In Villages Of PDP Chieftains – Amaechi by Deepthoughts: 12:11pm On Nov 19, 2018 |
princeemmma: The Minister of Transportation, Mr Rotimi Amaechi, on Sunday said that in the course of executing the Warri-Itakpe Rail line, stations were built in the villages of Peoples’ Democratic Party(PDP)’s chieftains.
Amaechi disclosed this at the `Next Level Presentation’ at Presidential Villa Banquet Hall to signal the commencement of the campaign of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2019 general elections.
The minister who made a presentation titled `What We are Building ’ said that President Muhammadu Buhari, upon assumption of office, directed that old and abandoned projects be completed.
“The truth is that the country is compelled to make a choice between good and bad. When I was appointed the Minister for Transportation, the president warned–do not start new contracts, go and complete old ones.
“We met Itakpe –Warri Rail line which had been in existence for 34 years uncompleted; it would have been the first Standard Guage line in Africa if it was completed.
“Based on the president’s instruction, I did a memo; I thought we will borrow money from China; but the president refused. He said we should use our internal funds to execute the project.
“People saw me on social media on Train service from Warri to Itakpe. I got to Warri 8pm because I was going from one station to the other—almost all the villages and most prominent members of PDP made sure that train stations were in their villages.
“So, I am compelled to do those stations in villages of members of PDP; it is okay; it is the instruction of the president that you must go and finish the old work.’’
He said that the tradition in the past was that once one was elected, one left the old things for the old people and awarded new contracts.
According to Amaechi, the ministry will start commercial service from Itakpe to Warri.
On PDP’s argument that it started the projects, Amaechi said that Buhari made it clear on commissioning the Abuja –Kaduna rail project that the project was started by the former government of President Goodluck Jonathan.
“We completed it but two things are remarkable—we borrowed 500 million dollars to start that project at the time oil was selling at 114 dollars per barrel.
“ We should not have borrowed; you mean this country could not have afforded 500 million dollars?
“I will show that we can; when I wrote a memo to the president and to the cabinet requesting that he should allow me borrow 500 million dollars from China to buy locomotives and coaches for Lagos-Ibadan, the cabinet under the directive of the president refused.
“He(the president) said 500 million dollars; we can get from here and we are funding it from here; so we did and completed Kaduna to Abuja quickly.
“We spend N56million per month and we get N16 million; so we are augmenting for both rich and poor—N40 million per month under the directive of the president because he fears that the poor might not be able to afford it. So, everybody is using it.’’
According to him, Lagos to Ibadan railway is almost complete—a distance of 156kms.
The minister said that application had also been made to construct Kano to Kaduna railway as approval for funds is being awaited.
“We are about to award the central line from Abuja to Niger to Baru from Baru to Itakpe to Warri; the president had approved a new seaport in Warri. We are negotiating with a Chinese company which will build it.
“Do not forget that N2.7 billion dollars is N1 trillion. So, we are looking for money to commence already awarded work on the coastal rail.
“The coastal rail starts from Lagos, from Lagos; it passes through Ogun State, Ondo, Benin, Asaba, and Onitsha. From Benin again, it passes through Warri, Sapele, Ughelli, to Bayelsa, in fact, it goes to Utuoke. From Otuoke, it goes to Port Harcourt.
“ Then from Port Harcourt, it goes to Aba, Uyo, and ends up in Cross River State.
“We are almost ready to award Port Harcourt to Maidugiri. The difference between us and the last award is that the last award was 1500km but under the directive of Mr President, it was extended to 2000 km.
“ The last award was Port Harcourt straight to Maidugiri but in order to satisfy everybody at the directive of the President, we must get to every state capital,’’ he said.
On his part, Mr Babatunde Fashola, the Minister of Power, Works and Housing, said that it would require a long journey into Nigeria’s history to recall when last it had massive investment in infrastructure.
“It is no coincidence that we look to the 1970s and the 1980s when we built new airports, new seaports, new refineries, new highways and bridges.
“The closest you will have to that era is the 1990s when petrol-money was also being applied to upgrade infrastructure under the Petroleum Trust Fund (PTF)incidentally chaired by Buhari.
“We lost an enormous opportunity when recently oil money rose to $114 dollar per barrel and stayed there for almost a decade and we have no new airport, refinery, bridges, petrochemical plants, no new seaports to show accountability to how all the money went,’’ he said.
http://thenationonlineng.net/apc-built-train-stations-villages-pdp-chieftains-amaechi-2/ Amaechi is just a clown,he said the train line has been there for over 34 years but turns around to mention PDP as if the route of the line was designed with intent to pass through the pdp chieftains village in advance, this same project was there during the so call magic period of buhari's pTFA yet Amaechi still want to blame the pdp for it, Amaechi you claimed buhari stop you from borrowing so please tell us,all the money buhari has borrowed which outstrips the total borrowing for the 16years of pdp what has he done with it?,you people should allow buhari to speak for himself not you people all the time claiming that buhari said this n that. |

EMERGENCY
For example, a plane that’s suppose to fly from Lagos to New York city loads enough fuel to reach their destination. Everything is going fine then suddenly a pregnant woman who is on board goes into labor. If there’s no nurse on board and the flight attendants cannot handle the issue, the only choice will be to make an emergency landing.
The flight crew will alert the pilots on the situation and the pilots will have to land in the nearest airport. The first thing the pilots will check is the weight of the aircraft. For an aircraft that has enough fuel to reach New York, of course the landing weight will be far above normal. In this scenario, the pilot must dump enough fuel in order to reduce the weight of the aircraft before landing.
https://i1.wp.com/techcapon.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/leavingbarbadoslongexposure-0.jpg?resize=768%2C432&ssl=1
The pilots have no choice. There are 3 things that add weight to an aircraft. Passengers, luggage and fuel. Obviously the pilots cannot dump passengers. Neither can they dump cargo (except in very rare cases), the only option is to dump fuel.
The pilot will dump the fuel, make the emergency landing in order to get the pregnant woman to the hospital, refuel before they can continue the journey. Of course dumping fuel is a big loss to the airline companies. They lose big money anytime these things occur but it’s better to dump fuel than land an overweight aircraft thereby damaging the aircraft or jeopardizing the lives of everyone on board.
