PoliticsRe: 2019: We Won’t Use Government Money For Buhari's Campaign –lai Mohammed by Deepthoughts: 10:54am On Nov 16, 2018
nairavsdollars:
Alhaji Lai Mohammed, Minister of Information and Culture in this interview with TEMIDAYO AKINSUYI debunks the claim by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that he is diverting funds meant for his Ministry into President Muhammadu Buhari’ campaign for 2019. Excerpts:

The PDP, through its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbodiyan has accused you of diverting funds budgeted for your Ministry into President Buhari’s reelection. How true is this claim?

I usually don’t respond to the PDP because they really don’t have anything tangible to say. I think the PDP is just waking up to the realisation that they can’t win this election if the campaigns are based on issues. Our Social Investment Programme didn’t start last year. It didn’t even start in 2016. It started right from day one when we came to office.

This Social Investment Programme is the most apolitical programme of any government you can ever find. As a matter of fact, the truth of the matter is that APC politicians and appointees are very unhappy with the scheme because it does not follow the normal line of political patronage. People involved in this programme are completely apolitical. You apply online and if you are successful, you are chosen. There is no way it can be manipulated. At a point in time, some political appointees complained that you don’t do this. But the Vice- President and his team insisted that it is a social investment programme and it must be apolitical.

The PDP is now suddenly frightened by the success of this programme. That is the honest truth. When this programme started in 2015, PDP thought it was impossible to achieve. Today, this programme comprises of four major components.

There is the School feeding programme. Today, this programme feeds nine million, three hundred thousand pupils, one meal per day. It covers 26 states, about 60, 000 primary schools and in the process, it has employed over 97,000 cooks”.

So, the PDP is definitely frightened by the success. A government that feeds nine million, three hundred thousand pupils in every schoolday and in the process, employs over 97,000 cooks is a government that has left an indelible mark in the sands of time. The fall-out of this is that every week, 594,000 cows are slaughtered to feed these children. Every week, these children consume 6.8 million eggs. So, through this programme, jobs are being provided for farmers. This is the major reason why PDP is frightened and yet that is just one aspect of the social investment programme.

How is this progamme funded?

This programme is funded by budgetary provisions. Every year, we went to the National Assembly to get provision for this programme. The second tranche of this social investment programme is the N-power, which as I speak today has employed about 500,000 unemployed graduates. Again, none of these programmes started yesterday. They all started in 2015, 2016. The third component of the social investment programme is the Conditional Cash Transfer which today services about 297,000 most vulnerable and poorest households in some states of the federation, because it is a pilot programmed that we are running. With this programme, the sum of N5,000 is given every month to about 297,000 most vulnerable and poorest families in Nigeria. The fourth component is the Government Enterprises Empowerment Programmed (GEEP). This is made of three tranches. There is the market money, trader money and farmers money. Between them, they have benefited 1.1 million as cooperatives and individuals. These are programmes that are well advertised and Nigerians know about. So, how can some people now turn around to say that we are using government money for politics as PDP have claimed? When we started this programme, they never gave us a chance.

Between TradersMoni, FarmersMoni and MarketMoni, we have touched the lives of about 1.1 million Nigerians. How can PDP now start complaining that we are using government money for politics? These are visible programmes that are well advertised. The Vice-President has been on the roads in the last three years inaugurating these things. We advertised our school feeding programmes, those benefiting from it are both PDP and APC states. We don’t make any distinction between the children. All the children are Nigerians, our children. So, how can anybody wake up in the night and say it is being funded with Ministry’s funds? The PDP know they debate us on issues. We have touched the lives of so many people. A government that feeds a minimum of nine million, three hundred and sixty four children everyday is not a government that you can toy with. So, that is why the PDP is afraid. They are jittery. The average students doesn’t care who is providing the meals for him in school.

Looking at the polity right now, would you say your party has fulfilled its electoral promises to the people?

We were very categorical that we were going to address three areas of governance; we are going to fight corruption; we are going to fight insecurity and we are going to revamp the economy. I can say, with all sense of modesty, that we can beat our chest that we have delivered in all those areas.

In the area of power, we inherited 2,900 MWs of power; today we are generating more than 7,000 MW of power. Of course we are unable to transmit all the power because of the state of the transmission line, and don’t forget that even that power had been largely privatised even before we came in and we had been able to give support. We guaranteed N702 billion revolving loan that if you produce, we pay and that is why you have seen this exponential increase in power supply. So, I do not see any area where we cannot say we have not made progress

You see we have delivered all promises we made. We came in and we promised we were going to fight insecurity. At that time, the major threat to the corporate existence of Nigeria was the Boko Haram insurgency and despite what anybody says, we have decimated Boko Haram. We brought Boko Haram under complete control because when we came in on May 29, 2015, 24 local governments in the North East, an area three times the size of Lebanon, were under the effective control of Boko Haram and what this means is that they were running the administration. As a matter of fact, once we got to Maiduguri, that was the end of Borno State. If you move outside, either to Kaure, Konduga or Bama, they were under the control of Boko Haram. By 2014, 2015, nobody in Abuja could sleep with his two eyes closed. They came and attacked ThisDay headquarters with casualties, they attacked the UN Headquarters, they attacked the IGP office, Nyanya park was bombed twice, they were active in Suleja, Kaduna, Sokoto, Plateau, Nasarrawa, Kogi. As a matter of fact, there was hardly any state in the North that Boko Haram was not operating. It was nipped in the bud in Kwara.

But today there is relative peace. We have been able to recover all territories and today no single inch of Nigerian territory is under the Boko Haram control. Yes, there have been suicide bombings, that is what terrorism is all about. Few months ago in US, we saw terrorist attack. About three months ago, we saw what happened in Texas. Terrorists killed many children. This is not a sign of renewed threat rather it is a sign of desperation and weakness. Look at the regularity it used to occur and now. It is all about intelligence gathering.

A common problem in Nigeria but children of hate will make it a major disaster in Buhari’s case. Because they can’t link him to money laundering, to adulterous affair, to alcoholism, to private estate development with office money, to offshore banking, Swiss banking , to cultism, to homosexuality, and many other vices and immoralities , Babangida has investigated him tire, OBJ investigated him for years no show, so they dwell on irrelevancies.
you people keep fooling yourselves with buhari's fake integrity n honesty where as he was sponsored by corruption,is been supported by corruption, corruption generally run rings around him.we have just heard of the osibanjo's case, oshiomole's case, Aisha n her ADC's case, the illegal subsidy payments, the unexplained NNPC contract scandal, the ganduje videos n numerous others happening right under your claimed saint watch but I bet your likes will claims buhari knew nothing about it like the dullard he truly is, oshiomole has stated repeatedly that buhari was in the know of everything he was doing which means buhari n APC has been engaging in wide spread corruption to amass illegal n dirty financial war chest for 2019 hopefully to turn around n falsely claim with your likes cheering that they ran their campaigns without touching a Kobo from the Treasury, now DSS has burst the bubble n like saraki rightly said,Nigerians awaits your saints actions.

“Total $55 million is what Adams is alleged to have received. Some party chieftains claim it is $80 million,” a source aware of the contents of the report told SaharaReporters. According to report, $17 million is what Oshiomhole allegedly received as bribe from Zamfara: $10 million for him, $7 million shared between Farouk Adamu, former Minority Leader of the House of Representatives; Niyi Adebayo, former Governor of Ekiti State. He received from other party chieftains, too.

PoliticsRe: Breaking: Judge Orders Senator Abaribe To Pay N100m Over Kanu’s Absence In Court by Deepthoughts: 8:19pm On Nov 14, 2018
gidgiddy:
Personally, I think the judge is biased. The federal Government, through the military, went to Kanu's house to kill him. He escaped and left the country to save his life. Why is the judge holding the sureties responsible for what the government caused? If Kanu had stayed back to be killed, would Justice Binta Nyako have ordered that the Sureties bring his dead body to court for trial? Of course not

So why penalise the sureties over a situation the government caused? I think Abaribe and co should head to the appeal court because this is miscarriage of justice
I'm completely shocked about the whole thing n the general apathy towards Abaribe n co especially from the igbos not necessarily to support kanu but to say no to brutal oppression, because what is happening is simply a desperate attempt by the hausa/fulani to silent completely voice of desent against their wicked dominance n expansionist agenda which they view the igbos to be the champions n ultimately instill fear into the rest ethnic groups that may wish to attempt opposing them.
PoliticsRe: Breaking: Judge Orders Senator Abaribe To Pay N100m Over Kanu’s Absence In Court by Deepthoughts: 3:22pm On Nov 14, 2018
NAIJAHITPLAY:
The Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the three persons, including Senator Eyinnaya Abaribe, who stood sureties for the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, to within two months, pay the sum of N100m each into the court’s account for their inability to produce the missing Biafran activist in court.

Justice Binta Nyako gave the order on Wednesday in a ruling in which she amended the conditions of the bail she had in April 2017 granted Kanu.

Kanu is being prosecuted before the court on charges of treasonable felony.
His trial had been earlier separated from that of his co-accused following his disappearance after a military invasion of his home in Afara-Ukwu, Umuahia, in Abia State, on September 14, 2017
The three sureties who guaranteed his bail had been made to sign a bail bond of N100m each which was backed by their landed assets whose documents were deposited in court.
But with the amendment ordered by the court on Wednesday, they are now required to deposit cash of N100m in the bank account of the court.
Justice Nyako ruled that the three sureties had two months to pay the sum of N100m each into the court’s account.
The judge reiterated that the order directing the sureties to pay the money was an order of interim forfeiture.
She fixed March 28 for the hearing of the motions filed by the sureties to challenging the duties imposed on them to produce the IPOB leader.

pls any body who is legally knowledgeable should enlighten me,is it lawful that a party to a trial should use over whelming force on an accused on bail causing the accused to abscond n for the court to turn a blind eye to this n still hold the suretees liable without any legal action against the party that employed the force abinitio?.this kanu case appear to me as a brazen show of force n brutal punishment n suppression by the federal government against kanu n his suretees rather any element of the rule of law.

Buhari/Apc has really succeeded in intimidating the judiciary to submission n doing their bindings if not how on Earth will any judge be threatening to put Abaribe n the other suretees on trial over kanu's dissapearance as a result of the military actions against him even while he was on trial bail, did they expect Abaribe n co to use their bare hands to guard kanu against the military?,was the actions of the federal government through her military against kanu legal considering that the federal government is also a party to kanu's trial n he was on bail n had not failed to appear in court?.the government could have waited for kanu to appear in court during his next hearing n revoked his bail then rearrest him but they didn't,we are not seeing the same display of federal might against fulani herdsmen menace,I believe we have seen the kind of person n government buhari is n running,2019 offers a chance for remedy.

Mr Babatunde Fashola, the Minister of Power, Works and Housing, says the Federal Government has awarded N206 billion contract for the main work on the Second Niger Bridge. 2nd-Niger-Bridge Fashola who spoke in Abuja during an interactive session with newsmen noted that the contract was awarded to Julius Berger Construction Company. He said that the project, expected to be completed in 36 months would be funded under the Presidential Infrastructure Development Fund (PIDF). A-Ibom govt to Akpabio: You lied over Uyo-Ikot Ekpene Road According to him, funding the project under PIDF means that work will no longer stop on account of lack of funding. He said that the Lagos-Ibadan expressway and Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano road projects would also be funded under PIDF. Fashola said that the contract for the main work on the Second Niger Bridge was awarded after the completion of the four phases of the project. He said that the early works were preliminary projects to be completed before the main work, adding that all the early works were done in the river and not visible from the existing bridge. According to him, with the award of the main work, there will be a lot of piling works in the water and that is what people will see.

There's conflicting information on whether it was 1961 or 1962. Many different sources online reference either one.

But none references an earlier time of 1960 when we are certain he had not written his exams.
But there shouldn't be any conflicts as to when buhari joined the army, the records should be there haba, why is it that virtually every thing about buhari is never straight forward yet his supporters n asslickers keep disturbing people with endless rants of integrity!, buhari is fraudulent simple!.
PoliticsRe: Buhari's Cambridge Result Mastersheet Printout by Deepthoughts: 7:33pm On Nov 05, 2018

Records shows he joined the army in 1962.

His application to the Army was in 1961 prior to writing the exams, hence the recommendation letter from his Principal who was certain he would pass his WASC as stated in the letter.

That alone is proof that there was an exam in the offing and it was understood by all parties involved that the exam would be taken.

This exam was taken in 1961, for which we do not have such old record of the month. He joined the army in 1962 having already taken the WASC in 1961, for which only those who were his colleagues at that time would know what month the Army recruited in 1962.
waoh you have just introduce a new dimension to the issue, all through, buhari's history has always shown he joined the army in 1961n was commissioned a 2nd leutenant in 1963,so where did you get this info?, this is why the army itself need to speak out,pls go n cross check your info again before you get your fingers burnt.meanwhile the buhari certificate abracadabra is still pending.

It shows his classmates, some who are notable Nigerians.

This has been available since 2015, but many still insist they must never be convinced because they prefer the alternative. They need a propaganda to peddle.
pls I beg of you just answer this questions. In what month were the exams conducted in 1961 n in what month did buhari joined the army in the same 1961,how did buhari got an original certificate during that short time frame to submit to the army?.it will be understood if buhari had said he sat for the exams later, but with all these historical events the truth about buhari's certificate still remain very cloudy your answers to the above questions will do buhari a lot of good pls.

Did you see where he said his friend was lucky to still have a photocopy which he tendered?

Did you see Buhari's registration number on that certificate? That alone can be used to verify if a candidate actually sat for an exam(don't know if you can go as far as 1961).

On WAEC's website, the requirements for an attestation includes a photocopy of your certificate(where applicable) which the old man has no hold of.

Enough of this pettiness and redundant talks.
pls what month did buhari sat for waec in 1961 n what month did he joined the army in the same 1961 with a Waec result?.

OP, why didn't you show everything? That guy is a staunch Buharist and put that up to back his claim. For those too lazy to verify things before commenting what they've been programmed to comment, this is the full story; pix below...

If y'all are actually as intelligent like you parade yourselves, you'll know that what you really need is the candidate's REG NO. which is clearly inscribed on the President's attestation cert. From what that Nigga said, his friend was LUCKY to still have a photocopy of his original result.

Now, try and work with the REG NO. on the president's certificate, let's know your findings.
No it's WAEC that you should be tasking, how did they get buhari's exam no.,if they have got buhari's exam number in their achieves then they should also have the number of the original certificate that was issued to the candidate with the exam no., don't be clever by half. buhari n WAEC has questions to answer,we are not fools.

Please Read General Shehu YarAdua’s book,'A Life of Service': It detailed how they (Shehu & Buhari) were in Class in Secondary School in Katsina, when Captain Jack Gowon (now Yakubu Gowon) came to their school to recruit them when they both were members of the Katsina Provincial Secondary School Cadet Corps in 1961. And they left school the next Monday to join the Army and were sent straight to Sandhurst a few months later, and were commissioned in 1962 (unlike now).

Unfortunately you have only succeeded in confirming the general suspicion about buhari's certificate with this PR attempt, this means buhari never waited to seat for the watch exams which are believe to have taken place towards the year end before joining the army n he never went back to sit for it after been commissioned, meaning he has no certificate.even the attestation just presented to is questionable as it hasn't the original certificate no. on it unlike other attestation certificate issued to other person's,those of you supporting buhari has got a really tough n rough task, you need to work harder, smarter n better as we are not all fools.

please stop supporting what is clearly wrong, who ever can not produce any required document without a genuine reason should be disqualified, buhari has created more questions with this so call attestation rather than solve any,for instance when where the exams conducted in 1961 for buhari to have sat for it, obtain a result n join the army the same year?, certainly the truth about buhari's certificate is still pending n I hope it doesn't turn out to be a monumental disgrace.
