Foreign Affairs / Bizarre & Wonderful Things U Can Get From VENDING MACHINES Around The World(PICS by Defcon1(m): 9:15pm On Jun 11, 2015 |
Most of us know them as being a useful source of providing crisps, soft drinks and chocolate. But vending machines can actually take on a very different purpose depending on where it is in the world. Did you know that a machine in China dispenses live crabs, in an edible container and with vinegar and ginger tea? Or that it was possible to receive a freshly baked 9-inch pizza in just three minutes? In fact one machine in China gives you the keys to rent a car - for £2 an hour This handy infographic shows 28 bizarre vending machines from around the world. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/travel/travel_news/article-3117097/Caviar-Beverly-Hills-live-crabs-China-Lego-Germany-Infographic-reveals-weird-wonderful-things-VENDING-MACHINES-world.html 1 Share

luvmijeje:l have considered all the points you mentioned and more; that is why I concluded that the best way forward is to find a common ground and move on. Anything they do to Saraki will likely backfire and play into the hands of the PDP. They can't impeach him because the APC alone does not have the 2/3 majority needed for that. So as long as he enjoys the PDP support he is untouchable. Though like you rightly said some PDP moles can be exploited to achieve that aim. But even that is difficult because this was an unprecedented opportunity for PDP to stake a claim in this dispensation...it will be hard to see them scuttle this golden opportunity. If they push him too hard, he will likely defect to PDP, together with his grassroots supporters...taking a chunk of theAPC support base with him...and that would mean majority of the North Central, given his political heavyweight. Also if he defects, the APC automatically loses the senate presidency and control to the PDP! If that happens then it's gonna be very difficult for PMB and the party. Never in the history of Nigerian democracy has an incumbent president being in opposing party to the senate leadership. Of course they can't expel him, for the reasons above. Suspension is useless as well.Nothing will it achieve. Anyway, let's see how they clean the mess

Politics / Re: There Were No Elections For The Senate Leadership - Senator Akume by Defcon1(m): 8:23pm On Jun 09, 2015 |
luvmijeje: Well, at this stage l don't think there is anything they can do about all this. It's too late. They had all the time in the world to settle their differences and avoid this. The way forward now is to accept things the way they are, and then try to mend all the other rifts within the party, to avoid similar or even worse scenarios in future. Dragging on with this will only create more divisions and infighting, and the only people that will benefit from the disunity is PDP. |

misssclassy:l agree with you. Besides, public proposals don't give a woman room to think about it, if her mind is not made up already. Even if she is not interested she would be forced to say 'yes' just to save face, and spare Romeo a cataclysmic embarrassment. To each his own, anyways. 4 Likes |

luvmijeje:What sham? I am a neutral here, but I don't see any sham in all this. This is a perfectly planned and well executed political maneuver. There is nothing anybody can do to reverse things All the constitutional and legal requirements were met, especially, the presidential proclamation and the needed quorum. They were definitely fooled, but no law was broken. It's just smart politics! |

UnknownT:You could not have put it any better, bro Don't mind people who are ignorantly clamoring for tribal representation in politics. How does that affect the regular Joes on the streets That is what matters! Obj and GEJ were there for 8 and 6 years respectively, yet the average Yoruba and Ijaw man were in no way better of than people of the other tribes during their tenures...in fact their respective kinsmen don't even speak glowingly of them. David Mark was senate president for years, but how did the Idomas fair in his time? The Igbos had 3 different senate presidents in one dispensation. How did that turn out for the average Igbo man. Do I need to ask about difference the decades- long Hausa /Fulani oligarchy has made to the average Hausa / Fulani man in the north. It's all about bragging rights..."our son is there" Nothing else! Only serves those occupying the seats NOT the common man. 5 Likes 1 Share |

Foreign Affairs / Re: Meet The 'Big Ivan': The Biggest Bomb In The History Of The World(Photos) by Defcon1(m): 7:28pm On Jun 07, 2015 |
Officially designated as AN602 hydrogen bomb, theTsar Bombaused the common three-stage Teller-Ulam design wherein the primary fission reaction is used to compress a secondary mixed fission/fusion fuel layer, which in turn compresses a large, tertiary thermonuclear payload—essentially stringing a pair of hydrogen fission reactions together in order to generate enough energy to instigate fusion in a uranium payload. Since the project was so rushed, only one such weapon was ever built and even then just barely. At 27 tons, it weighed nearly as much as the Tu-95that carried it and was so big that crews had to cut off the plane's bomb-bay doors in order to fit it in. Even so, at 11:32 am on October 30, 1961, theTsar Bombaexited Andrei Durnovtsev's plane at a height of 6.5 miles and slowly parachuted towards Mityushikha Bay test range in Novaya Zemlya (giving the drop plane just 188 seconds to escape). At 2.5 miles high,Big Ivanwent boom. |

So anti-wrinkle treatment company Galderma recruited some sets of identical twins One twin was given filler Restylane which reduces wrinkles and gives firmness The other had no treatment - making each pair a real life "before and after" Company claims the results are proof that the fillers subtly rejuvenate skin Now can you really see the difference, and whether the treatment is worth it, by guessing the twin in each pair that got the treatment? My Result: 2/4 My verdict: Not much difference (based on the pictures), and so, not worth it Check the results in the 2nd post below. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-3113505/One-twin-1-000-anti-wrinkle-jabs-nothing.html The Twin Sets. 1.Spot the difference: Twins Gay (LEFT) and Zoe Spink, 63, are both ex-models and beauty queens 2. York-based 37-year-olds James (LEFT) and Tom Martin are virtually identical in every way - but only one has had plastic surgery 3.: Dance teachers and keep-fit fans Amie(LEFT) and Julie Curtis, both 33, look similar, but only one had had filler injections 4. Kent sisters Diana (LEFT) and Sandra Horner, 46, look virtually identical 1 Share

Foreign Affairs / Meet The 'Big Ivan': The Biggest Bomb In The History Of The World(Photos) by Defcon1(m): 8:26pm On Jun 03, 2015 |
PREAMBLE Big Ivan, better known as Tsar Bomba, was 57 Megatons of Soviet might. That's 1,400 times Hiroshima and Nagasaki combined and 10 times the entire combined fire power expended in WWII. In one bomb. One explosion. And, incredibly, that's only half of what it could have done. In July 1961, Nikita Khrushchev, First Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (and leader of the USSR) decided that he had had enough of the unspoken nuclear testing moratorium that his country, the US, and the UK had been abiding by since 1958. The 22nd Congress of the Communist Party would convene that October, providing the perfect venue to show off the USSR's military muscle. With the world's eyes on Moscow, what better way to show the West who was boss than with a "testing spectacular" setting off the largest man-made explosion of all time? Problem was, they didn't have a bomb nearly big enough for Khrushchev. Up to that point, the largest hydrogen bomb the Soviets had detonated was the puny 3 MT RDS-37 (albeit the first true hydrogen bomb they built) but Khrushchev demanded something much, much bigger—enough to make America's 15 MT Castle Bravo testin 1954 wilt. And he wanted it built in time for the Congress. And since telling Nikita Khrushchev "no" simply didn't happen, a four man development team—Victor Adamskii, Yuri Babaev, Yuri Smirnov, and Yuri Trutnev—designed and simultaneously built the 24-foot long, three-stage thermonuclear device in just 15 weeks. http://gizmodo.com/5977824/the-biggest-bomb-in-the-history-of-the-world

Does anybody really believe any of this?? This woman can leave the country any time she wishes, as the president has refuted any claims of imposing travel bans on some former government officials. l don't know why the whole press has been hunting her. She is just one of the many corrupt officials in the previous dispensation. Nobody hears about the other corrupt ex-ministers, lawmakers etc. l am not supporting her, as l strongly believe in justice for the guilty (if she is convicted by the courts) l am only wondering why we hear only about her when she is but one of many corrupt ex - officials After all corruption is corruption. None is greater than the other. |
