if you can press f8 on restart
until you see safe mode
select it and try opening up
notepad then try typing. can you type in safe mode

I'd Advice you visit dell website for frequent asked questions or
contact dell about it. they might be able to tell what to do about it
as they will know best on what to do. The proper fix is to reball
the onboard graphics using a sophisticated machine often used
by computer repairers. Some people bake their motherboard with a
foil/film wrap. this will not fix it.

How to perform an ATX reset:

Disconnect the power from your computer.
If possible remove the battery and external devices.

if not let the laptop battery run flat then try charging it.
if it works then always make sure the battery prompt you
to connect your charger don't charge your battery in between make
sure you charge when it prompt you to. this is known as battery memory effect

a built recovery manager via F11. you must have clicked on recover and backup, instead of recovery with

you restore as in format you meant ?

if yes, you could use the
recovery manager via f11 restart to
install some of the original software.
however if you didn't run system restore as in
where you restore to a previous date, then use google
to research how to system restore then follow the instructions
and restore to a date before the problem started. is thisxp or windows 7 and what
make is the computer. what antivirus do you use ? have you scan for a virus recently ?

yes everything underneath the - after you have clicked the + sign. only what is underneath the
sound video controllers and restart the system. are you usuing media player/centre or vlan

Given what you have written. It would be appropriate to
advise you to ATX reset since this is the first you are
having this problem. ATX rest basically reset the laptop and
get rid of static electricity.

ow to perform an ATX reset:

Disconnect the power from your computer.

If this does not solve the power issue it may be the
hardware its self which is faulty and will need repairing or replacing.

Given your knowledge, have you ran window's 8 compatibility check prior to
installing win 8. A compatibility check is need to prevent drivers 'BSOD'.
you could have done this and also visit the laptop manu'f website to check if they
have windows 8 drivers available. The general rule is; if a windows operating system is
not available on a manu'f website, don't install it. the manufacturer knows better than
the consumer, e.g. ourselves.

LordReed: I don't think a HDD fail is eminent, you can do a checkdisc for bad sectors. I would advise you to buy the RAM, its cheaper and will have more immediate effect on overall system performance.

then uninstall everything under universal controller
only. remove all usb devices such as printer, usb stick
then restart the laptop. then wait for it to install

working usb stick, it should detect it. does this happen

Given your explanations, it would appear that you have forgotten your windows password.
it would not be easy because it was a 'password issue. This section does not
permit us to crack password but can advise you on getting it done. first, I would advise you
to get a technician help. it is a new operating system with a built in erecovery software, if
corrupted could render your computer useless if the event that you need to reformat in near future.
corrupting the built in 'partition' would cost you money to get another window's 8 cd. your best option is
to get it done professionally or use the search engine to carry out a solid research on 'resetting windows password'
