Greetings. We are all encouraged to undertake the Breaking of Bread/Communion in our various homes immediately after the online service of Sunday. This will be done simultaneously in all the Home/Family cell units on Sunday 10th of May 2020 across the region. The service/broadcast should be followed by a brief moment of prayer followed by the Breaking of Bread/Communion to be administered by each head/representatives of the family. Shalom. NCC IJU Nuggets & Reliefs This is a sad story: A man in Kano went to a foodseller. He had not eaten in 3 days. He begged the seller for food on credit. The foodseller said no because he already gave food to too many people on credit. The man sat down beside the foodseller’s shop as he had nowhere else to go. The foodseller told him he’s very sorry and he would like to help but too many people in the neighbourhood have collected food on credit and his business is sinking. The man sat there and said nothing. As time went on, other people came into the shop to buy foodstuff and went out- they noticed the man at the door sitting there sleeping. But nobody bothered. Until one man came later in the day and asked the foodseller: “who is the man sitting at your door?” “Why is he there?” Then the foodseller said “oh it’s a man who says he has not eaten for 3 days and he wants to collect food on credit but I could not give him because my business is struggling from all the credit I have already given out”. Then the other man said: “How much is the food he wants?” The food seller said “It’s a few cups of garri, rice and beans. Everything may be 2,000 naira”. The other man said “Alright pack everything he wants and more. I would pay for it. Let him go home to his family and eat”. The foodseller packed all the food and went outside to tell the man with joy that someone has paid for his food. He saw the man still sleeping. He tapped him to wake him up, he didn’t respond. Tapped him again, nothing. The man had died. He died sitting and waiting for help. This happened just few days ago in Badawa, Kano. Some people who live in that area know this story. The man was dead all along while people were coming in and out of the shop thinking he was sleeping. He died hopeless. He died helpless. He died a man who his country failed. If you know anyone in this period who is hungry around you and you can afford a little food or money to give him/her, please do. Many people are walking the streets with an empty stomach, a sorry face and are dead within. It’s only a matter of time before they physically die. Don’t be the one who walks into a store and doesn’t bother to ask about the beggar at the door. We all have our problems yes, But our little curiosity may save a life. Be the one who asks “who is that person sitting there?” Be the one who helps. And be the one who saves a life. #copied

2020 still has a lot to offer. Never mistake a bend for an end and don't join people to say 'I won't count 2020 as part of my age because I didn't use it'. It is funny though but the truth is you will have what you say. My confession is that no matter how short this year will be I will do great things and God will collapse time for me. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HRkhghIjoTA Numbers 14:28 NIV So tell them as surely as I live declares the Lord, I will do to you the very thing I heard you say. Lagos lockdown: *S.O.P FOR BUYING DAILY NEEDS ITEMS DURING MOVEMENT CONTROL ORDER COVID-19* *BEFORE GOING OUT* 1. Appoint one representative only and the same person should go out everytime 2. List the items to buy 3. Wear a mask 4. Go out between 10 am-3 pm (when sun is shining brightly) 5. Prepare one plastic bag to fill in the change (do not put money in pocket or purse/wallet) or bring accurate amount of money *WHEN YOU ARE OUTSIDE* 1. Do not stay outside more than 40 minutes 2. Keep your distance from others (1 meter) 3. Speak only when is needed 4. Decide which item to buy and grab it without hesitation (Avoid taking and putting back again) 5. Give the prepared plastic bag to put in the change, please do not directly touch the money *WHEN YOU ARE BACK AT HOME* 1. Expose items that cannot be washed under the sun 2. Expose all vehicle keys and locks under the sun 3. Wash hands with soap 4. Wash washable items including money with soap and dry them 5. Discard plastic bags 6. Remove mask and discard *FINAL PHASE* 1. Wash your feet with soap before entering the house 2. Wash and clean the entire body with soap and shampoo 3. Dry your body 4. Drink a glass of warm water. The CoronaVirus is now at the *community transmission* phase. It means that there are (unknown) infected persons within our neighborhoods that are now infecting other people. It means that they have the infection but not showing clinical symptoms. Here are my thoughts: As we go forward, we must now *consider everybody around us as already infected*. This concept now must be your daily guiding thoughts on how to protect yourself when interacting with anybody outside your household especially neighbours. *Don't assume anybody is as sensible as you've been*. This is perhaps the only time, in modern history, to arrogantly consider yourself smarter than everyone around you, by judiciously doing *all you must* to stay safe. This is also the time to begin to routinely wear *facemasks* as part of your clothing especially when stepping out of your house. * Disinfect facemask before & after use * Wash hands regularly with soap + water despite use of facemask * Use hand sanitizer despite use of facemask * Don't touch your face (mouth, nose, ears) ... unless with washed hands * Obey other cautionary protocols Facemasks are mostly unavailable or very expensive. So you can *improvise* using a bandanna, large handkerchiefs, turtlenecks (cut off) etc. The aim is to prevent droplets (from a cough or sneeze) of an infected person from entering your nostrils. Another key point is to regularly discuss and remind your *household members to follow all guidelines too*. You're responsible for each other. Your family's health lies on weakest link, so keep everyone strong. *#TakeResponsibility* *#StayAlive* *May God protect us* Lagos state briefing is currently on with the Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu. 1.All places of worship remains closed until further notice. 2. Eateries and restaurants to open between 9am-3pm and are to do only takeout. No eat in. Also 9am-3pm only! Take note! Must wear gloves and masks. 3. Public transport. All commuters to wear masks and gloves. Handwashing equipment and thermometers must be provided. Buses to load 60% capacity. No standing. All airconditioners off! All commercial bikes suspended! Tricycles 2 passengers only. 4.Controlled easing phase for all businesses, . Banks and companies are as follows. All staff will work between 9am and 3pm. Maximum of 60% capacity on ground. Others to work from home. 5. All schools remain closed! Teach online! 6. Whistle blower Channels to be introduced for any one who flaunts the directives 7. All beaches, clubs, gyms, salon, cinemas, swimming pool remains closed! 8. Markets to open on designated days between 9am-3pm 9. 50% elevator capacity only 10. Funerals are permitted. Only 20 people permitted and that includes the officiating ministers. No party to follow it. 11. Curfew remains in place as directed by the President. 6pm to 8am. 12. Review of compliance to be done again in 2 weeks! Ninth Update on Coronavirus by the Lagos State Incident Commander, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu Dear Lagosians, 1. It has become imperative for me to address you again today, following the culmination of the second phase of the Lockdown on Lagos, Ogun and the FCT, and the Nationwide Address by President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday. 2. It is now my duty to share a broader framework for the implementation of the President’s directives here in Lagos State. 3. But before I do that, let me reiterate some of these directives, as outlined by the President in his address: a. There will be an overnight curfew from 8pm to 6am, except for essential services. This means that from the hours of 8pm to 6am we expect all Lagosians to stay in their homes. b. Furthermore, there is a ban on interstate travel at this time. This means that no persons will be allowed in or out of Lagos until further notice, except for those delivering essential goods and services. And by this, we mean food items, petroleum products, newspapers, and essential manufactured goods. c. According to the President, “Partial and controlled interstate movement of goods and services will be allowed for the movement of goods and services from producers to consumers.” 4. Lagos State will be very strict in the implementation of this directive. As a first step, I am directing that vehicles carrying food and agricultural produce into Lagos from any part of the country cannot have more than 7 passengers on board. The same applies when these vehicles are leaving the state. 5. We are compelled to issue this directive because we have in recent weeks seen attempts to conceal people in trucks and other vehicles carrying essential items, with the aim of sneaking them into or out of the State. MEDICAL UPDATE 6. Dear Lagosians, before I fully outline the guidelines for the easing of the Lockdown in Lagos State, let me officially update you on the medical situation. Our State continues to be the epicentre of #COVID19 in Nigeria. The total number of confirmed cases in our State as at midnight April 28, 2020 is 844. 7. One Hundred and Forty-Three (143) persons have been treated and discharged, and I am pleased to announce that today alone, we are discharging 49 people, of whom there are 48 Nigerians and 1 Foreigner – a Greek national. Of these there are 28 females and 21 males. Sadly, we have lost 19 people, and we currently have 682 active cases. 8. I have been on the phone with our medical personnel who contracted the Coronavirus; I spoke with all of them earlier today; and I am pleased to say that they are all doing very well and in very high spirits. We are all looking forward to their discharge very soon. 9. Our medical workers will continue to be top priority for us at this time, and we will continue to make available all the resources they require, in terms of Hazard Allowances, Covid Allowances, Personal Protective Equipment, psycho-social support, and others. 10. We are continuing our active case finding in communities across Lagos State. So far, we have covered over 1.5million households; and we are also continuing to scale-up our Isolation and Treatment capacity. The Isolation Center at Gbagada opens tomorrow, and we are currently working on building three additional Isolation Centers in the state. 11. Also ongoing are our relief package distribution efforts, with the kind support of private organisations and civil society groups. 12. We are encouraging businesses in Lagos to commence the production of face masks, as we roll out a new campaign to Mask Up Lagos. This is an opportunity for our people, especially the youth, to display their creativity and artistic flair, and project the cultural spirit of Lagos State to the world. 13. I will now go on to share details of how the Presidential Directives on the gradual easing of the Lockdown in Lagos State will be implemented and enforced. As Collated by the Afolabis and Rev. Bajomo of NCC- IJU Lagos
