Jobs/Vacancies › Re: Why Are Tech Jobs Difficult To Get? by DeOTR: 5:18pm On Feb 18, 2025 |
PapaNnamdi: Not all tech jobs in Nigeria is based on recommendation,
All jucy jobs are on recommendation In short any employment opportunity in Nigeria is based on recommendation.
Even teaching , security nannyjob
Nigeria is not a country to seek employment without proper networking.
But the truth is,
Almost all tech jobs can be automated now with AI, The speed with which it's application is increasing begs the question will there be jobs in the nearest future?
I WAS emphasis on was a graphic designer and web developer looking for paid gigs online, Until I downloaded ChatGPT then realized my skill will become obsolete soon from what chat got could do as at the time,
Today AI is making videos, paintings, websites even cloning and maintenance,
Now who will pay for something that can be done almost free with AI Good luck to you on building a serious webapp from chatgpt prompt. AI will only make work easier for software engineers, it won't replace them. Anyone who can be replaced by AI was never in tech. |

Baxilexi: In the digital world, programmers and coders try to harmonize their codes such that people from all over the world can participate and add value. It’s never about who started it, but the impact it plays in producing products that are invaluable to human existence.
This current trend by the Lagos government is reinventing a wheel that is a total waste of time, resources and a distraction from more important issues. Nigeria is losing out on being involved in global decision making/ global value chain, can someone explain how knowing physics in Yoruba will aid in building a plane or car? Even China sponsored student to the US and UK to learn in English and bring value home.
The laws/legal system we practice is western and is such that everyone who lives in the region should be able to make use of it. Should all lawyers in SW re-enroll in a Yoruba school of legal studies and start over?
Build more museums instead, invest in heritage sites, build statues, modernize your local cuisines, sponsor carnivals etc.
To those who support this trajectory my question is, is divisiveness the only thing the Blackman is good at? China is teaching physics in Chinese, Germany in German, France in French, but this idiot thinks it's not good to do that in Yoruba. Na mumu dey worry you. |

Demolaeby: Nafdac is mostly impounding some foreign drugs with no nafdac number. That doesn't mean that any drug without nafdac number is fake. Most of the special drugs that are meant for special cases are mostly without nafdac number because they are not every day market drugs. They process of going for nafdac number for such drugs that is not every day sell drugs will inflate the price of this so drugs. Nafdac terming it fake because they were not having number is the highest level of deceit. Why should any drug not have NAFDAC in Nigeria and you say it's authentic? Is your brain asleep while you type this? |

Mrfeel: Yoruba's fought no wars , the only war you fought was still between yourselves and afon-ja prostrated before his master like a typical Yoruba man and went and joined Fulanis to fight his master at the price of illorin Go and take several seats. Yoruba fought no wars but the Oyo empire spread even outside the present day Nigeria and SW? Like I said, your ancestors were still neanderthals when Yorubas have been building empires. Na mumu Lord luggard go mix non entities with royal families, if not, you'll be our slaves. For goodness sake, Igala people (sub-yoruba group) and the ijaws took your people as slaves. |

Yorubas have been fighting wars, building empires when your ancestors were still hopping from tree to tree. The only war you foolishly started, you lost 3 million people. Oponu. |

Who marked the scripts?
All this is just an avenue to extort money from the candidates. We know how these things work.
Those that paid passed, those who didn't pay failed.
It's also a common scenario in Nigerian tertiary institutions. No public institution is exempted from this.
Nigeria we hail thee Please speak about your own higher institution abeg. I attended one of the best public universities in Nigeria and I didn't pay a dime to anyone for marks, but I graduated with a very good grade. You most certainly sorted your result. I wonder the kind of school that is. |

No be everything dem suppose dey tell u oga By your logic, it's OK to create more states because of landsize and not because of the population size or why will you be citing Lagos landsize when against states that should not have additional state? Between Niger and Lagos state, who should get a state created out of it if we're to make a choice? I want to know if you really know what you're saying. |

Judolisco: The bill should be resubmitted... Some of d states we have today were created without proper consultation... An example is kogi state, leading to serious marginalization of some tribes.... Some states are jst 2 big, like Niger state, some states are too small and needs expansion like lagos state .... Some states should be merged because with all the resources at their disposal, they've done nothing with it, like delta and bayelsa Niger state so big, it's just not up to a quarter of Lagos state's population. Exactly what's your definition of the size of a state? Empty barren land or the actual population? |

Leobankx: The United Nations AIDS agency, UNAIDS, on Friday said more than six million people could die from HIV and AIDS in the next four years if US President Donald Trump’s administration pulls its global funding for programmes.
https://dailypost.ng/2025/02/08/six-million-people-could-die-from-hiv-aids-if-us-ends-funding-un/ I don't think it's the responsibility of the USA to be saving lives of the people living with HIV in other countries. If states in Nigeria could be spending billions of naira sponsoring people on fruitless pilgrimage, they should be able to afford the vaccine if they deem it important for their people. I even think it's the foreign aids that have made our government very lax and dead to their responsibilities. |
