It was written by Sahara Reporters. The term "Nigerian-American" and the silence about his background in this article gives it away as written by a Nigerian blog or news outlet. If it was written by an American outlet, he'd simply be termed an American but his parents background would be highlighted.

They won't even state he is American. It would simply be assumed by readers he is. If he wasn't American, that would be spointed out by stating whst country he is from. Also, an American daily will also indicate what state he is from if he is american.
