PoliticsRe: Us Lauds Alison-madueke’s Leadership Of Oil Industry by DerMeister: 3:59pm On Mar 06, 2012
That woman isn't doing diddly-squat, she's just there to ensure that d pdp members get their cut form 9ja's oil industry, One of the worst ministers of petroleum we've had, And some cretin will come out and say she's doing a great job, He must have s-h.i't for brains. angry
EducationRe: U.s. Student Wants To Do Study Abroad In Nigeria ! by DerMeister: 7:54pm On Mar 05, 2012
Best you stay away from Nigeria if you want to study, there are no universities in nigeria, If you really want to do this: AVOID uniport, that's probably the worst school in Africa  tongue
FamilyRe: British Family Considering Move To Nigeria. Advice Welcomed :) by DerMeister: 7:40pm On Mar 05, 2012
If you really have to move to nigeria, I suggest you pay a visit 1st. See a few of the major towns: Abuja, Lagos, PH, Calabar, I think you'd be most comfortable in Abuja as it's organized and well managed with relatively decent infrastructure. The weather is dry and hot though. Calabar is also decent and organized and cheaper than Abuja.

Jobwise, the labour market sucks, if you're entrepreneurial, you could start your own biz,

There are some good schools but they are pricey. Children will always adapt, teenagers maybe a bit difficult depending on how they were raised,

As for gaming, 4get online gaming and make do with campaigns or survival modes ( for MW3 grin )

In summary, pay a visit and see things for your self and decide if you can live with what's on ground.

BusinessRe: No Fuel In Rivers State by DerMeister: 6:19pm On Mar 05, 2012
Rivers state is a joke! Anybody can do anything and get away with it! Corruption and greed seem to be worse down here than up North. Coming from Abuja where petrol is in abundant supply to PH where there's no fuel (despite imported fuel being landed here and the presence of 2 refineries) is amazing!

Port Harcourt is just a glorified village with too much money! full of proud, stupid &ignorant people!
EducationRe: Uniport No Be School by DerMeister: 9:55am On Mar 04, 2012
I agree with the OP one 1 issue, uniport is not a school; it is a waste of 4-5 yrs of anyone's life. I advice anyone NOT to send their wards, children to that place. It does not deserve to be called a university.

BTW; The Chem. Engr dept in uniport has not produced a 1st class since it was started circa 1973 because the lecturers feel no 1 is good enough to get a 1st class,  huh

1st class or 3rd class is not the end of the world. I know a 3rd class grad who's doing better than a 1st class grad from that school. I was fortunate to get a good job were I was trained in different parts of the world and have not used anything I learnt from School at work.  I'm doing way better than those lecturers who said I/we would be failures and losers.

PoliticsRe: Chevron Report That An Oil Rig Caught Fire Near Niger Delta by DerMeister: 8:34pm On Jan 16, 2012
I'll concede that, but in most cases these things occur due to operator errors or negligence,
PoliticsRe: Chevron Report That An Oil Rig Caught Fire Near Niger Delta by DerMeister: 8:20pm On Jan 16, 2012
The One:
@vavavoom

Though I give it to you that you just got off the rig, I dare say that unless you can mention what the operators faults were that caused the incident, then @Dermeister's submissionwhich you seem to be supporting is specious. Without a comprehensice root-cause analysis, you cannot come to that conclusion.

Let's be careful as industry professionals about throwing unsubstantiated insinuations about.
Chevron is the operator and is responsible for whatever happens on that rig! They have the final say on all ops on the rig and will be held responsible for what happened. Chevron had an incident recently in brazil that resulted in an oil spill, the brazilian govt has sanctioned them and banned them,
PoliticsRe: Chevron Report That An Oil Rig Caught Fire Near Niger Delta by DerMeister: 8:16pm On Jan 16, 2012
Vavavoom:
Jacob123, Dermeister is spot on in his assessment. The well in question is Funiwa Deep-1A drilled on OML 86 as exploratory. While I wouldn't want to hinge all the blame on Chevron, they could have done more to forestall the suituation. Investigation will go on in the coming weeks and I hope lessons learnt will be implemented and not cast aside. We had Macoondo in APril of 2010, just 3 months shy of 2 years we have Funiwa only fewer casualties. A lot happened on the well -safety-to-operating cost assessment will help nip such catastrophe in the bud. I hope everyone involvedwill come clean.
that jacob123 is one of the characters i'm talkin bout, come here spouting crap!! if you don't have anything to say stay d f*£k away! a.s.s wipe!!
PoliticsRe: Chevron Report That An Oil Rig Caught Fire Near Niger Delta by DerMeister: 7:20pm On Jan 16, 2012
This is why I don't come here often, most people have no idea of what's being discussed and post meaningless, m-oro-nic comments. The rig was drilling an exploratory well and took a gas kick, this led to a blow-out and the explosion/flames.

This is due to errors on the Operator's part (chevron).

Any idiot who doesn't know about the issues at stake should stay away and stop posting s h i. tty. comments

PoliticsRe: Do You Want The Fuel Subsidy Back? Please Vote Here: by DerMeister: 1:17am On Jan 13, 2012
The problem in the oil sector is corruption, if corruption is taken care off, this subsidy issue will disappear.

As long as you have i.d.i.o.t.s like the 2nd and 3rd posters s.u.c.k.i.n. GEJs dick and sticking their faces in his a r. s e, there's no hope 4 d God forsaken country!!

My view: subsidy should remain. If the lousy govt can't manage the "little" they have now, they won't be able to manage 1.3 trillion,  So f*&k them and keep the subsidy, we don't their roads and hospitals anymore,
