Reddington is progressing because it is managed by unbiased managers with experience in hospital administration. So, all the different professional groups know their roles and stick to them with none trying to lord over others.
The managers set the standards and everybody is bound to comply with no group claiming superiority over others.This is unlike our public hospitals that our local doctors run like some kind of animal farm. Playing politics with people's lives!

Go check most hospitals run by non medical managers, they're always doing well. Eg most Catholic hospitals run by reverend fathers.

Fine. At the end of the day,what u have confirmed here is that most government hospitals are where our problems are. So something can still be done. It's all down to good administration

The news is littered daily with gross incompetency from Nigerian doctors. All the Nigerian doctor is interested in is title, Dr with nothing in his/her head.

See ehn..while some negligence is trully a doctor's fault..some aren't o. Doctors are humans and are raised differently, whatever they exhibit is a result of their upbringing not the profession. I have met good doctors

Some are no doubt but you can't say all. I have met some docs and go 'what the f***' I have met a doc that opened book in my front to get the dosage of drug but the thing is I'd rather have the doc do that than prescribe wrongly cos he/she doesn't wanna fall hand. You can't generalise these,that's just what am saying, it's only the bad news we see,we don't see the good ones. Where are the stories of successive transplants, seperation of siamese twins and numerous medical achievements( it's no big deal actually but it's quite a big one looking at the kind of country we are in)

I found a small ball-like growth in my baby’s neck underneath the flesh. Took him to the hospital but the doctor says he has LIPOMA and would require surgery to remove it.

My baby is just barely a year and six months and I’m worried taking him through surgery at this young age.

Doctors and medical practitioners in d house pls help. Is there any other remedies to remove lipoma or must it be surgery?

Note: I asked another doctor in same hospital but he seem to think surgery should be best.
Personally I wanna be sure if that’s my only options pls.

Mods, pls assist. I need help here.

I see you're a doctor. While I respect medical doctors, Nigerian bred medical doctors are a bunch of greedy and incompetent people.

Thousands and thousands of deaths are caused by their incompetence yearly. They are only interested in holding the nation to ransom through senseless strikes, how they're perceived etc

Nigeria is shit! If dat doesn't change,people will keep dieing finish. How many people in nigeria today will go to a doctor for headache afor example and when doctor says do MRI,won't blatantly refuse? In advance countries these things are what you do cos there is what we call medical insurance that covers it not that yeye NHIS o. But here in naija,you tell patient do MRI to elicit a diagnosis,dem go carry their bag waka go meet the next doctor say that doctor no sabi jo. And wen dey die,they will say doctors are quack. Or when they later found out it's some kinda brain tumor,they will say those doctors are not good sha. Nigerians are prolly the hardest sets of patient to treat,dem go come hospital come tell you diagnosis not complain o. Like walk in and say something like ' doctor I have typhoid'

A supposed doctor claimed that no drug can cause the death of patients orderwise such drugs won't be licensed, and you're here supporting him. That only reveals your level of ignorance as well. I won't start giving you examples of licensed prescription drugs that can cause instant death when used wrongly. You don't deserve such enlightenment from me.

Medical negligence is very real,however it's not only in nigeria and its not because of quackery or some shit.. Many doctors are brain drained,72hrs of call and all, what do u expect..mistakes happen,highest is to charge them to court. Doesn't mean nigerian doctors are outchea killing people... I am yet to hear of doctors killing people anyhow in places like reddington and all,no b same doctors dey work dere

A friend has been going through a health challenge on his left leg for over a year now.

He ran 4 different types of tests on the leg but the outcome of the tests is a fungal infection.

It started like a small boil, after it got bust, little by little it turned to what it is today.

It doesn't pain him but only scratches him

All recommended drugs prescribed to him all this while have not yielded any positive results.
Even some recommended local ways too all to no avail.

No one knows were help come from, that's why I decided to help him post it here.

You see, the problem with an average Nigerian is that they think once they have the money all their problems are gone. But how can you have N15m and still be breathing generator fumes and be spending hours in traffic, why can't you build your own road and NEPA?

Talking about the N15m self, that's less than what you'll get as a full time student with the Ontario Student Assistant Program (OSAP) loan and grants.

With OSAP, you'll get as high as $28k times two for a two year course, or times four for a four years course. $20k is a grant and 8k is loan. Which means you're getting 40k free for two years or 80k free for 4 years, with added knowledge and qualifications.

Mistake...

I went to a birthday party of one of my close friends, I had three friends and we are like clique.
During the party I got drunk and the guy that took us to the party in his car took advantage of my drunken state and had sex with me and make it look like it is consensual. During the act I know what was happening but was too weak and blurred. I didn't know there was a video recording of the act. When I woke up the guy was no where to be found so I kept it to myself.

Blackmail...

When my guy found out that I cheated on him, he was furious. I denied it initially but when he showed me the sex clip I admitted it but defended myself on the ground that it was rape and not consensual. I summon courage and asked him how did he come up with the sex tape but that he would not answer to. He left that moment and I start feeling that he knows something about the tape and wants to blackmail.

Threat...

He showed up one day at my hostel and threaten to leak the tape online. I begged him profusely not to do that but he said my plea and tears are waste of time. That he will let everyone know the kind of loose lady I am for betraying and cheating on him. That I will regret the day I met him. That I doesn't deserve his love.

Currently...

He is yet to release the clip but may actually do that with what is happening to the Babcock ex student.

What should I do to stop him before he destroys me.

Hello Nairalanders!

Please ignore any typographical or grammatical error. I just want to pour it out the way it is in my heart.

I am seriously confused and worried about what is happening in my family and I will appreciate your candid advice.

There is this guy my sister has been in a relationship with for over seven years now. so he actually asked her hand in marriage and decided to come see my parents for introduction, about some months ago. My family decided to take their time to find out more about the guys family background as is required in Igbo tradition.

After several questions asked, my family came to find out that the guy is an Osu (an outcast). On knowing this, everybody in my family told my sister to cut ties with him and discontinue the relationship because it is a big taboo to get married to an Osu in my place . If you do, no family member or friend will attend your wedding or even have anything to do with you again.

But my sister refused to listen to anybody claiming she really loves the guy, that they have been together for a very long time and that she is not getting younger anymore (mind you, she is in her early thirties). Everybody (my parents and extended family members) tried to talk her out of it but she still didn't listen.

After much pressure and her continues insistence, my dad decided to give them his blessings, although against his wish (my dad is actually not really deep into tradition). Now the guy has done all the traditional rights and paid for her dowry. Their wedding is coming up soon.

But the problem now is, according to tradition and from what I heard, if she was allowed to go with the guy without my dad giving them his blessings, the stigma would have just been on her and she alone would have been considered Osu, since she insisted to continue with the marriage. But now that my dad has given them his blessings, it is considered that all of us (her siblings) will also have that link of Osu too. Except if she decide to put an end to the relationship and discontinue with the wedding, which I don't think my sister is ready to do.

I am really worried and depressed about it, cause I don't want anything that will affect me tomorrow when I want to get married just because of my sister's mistakes.

I will really like to get opinions and sincere advice especially from those that are familiar with tradition, cause I'm seriously bothered. Thanks!

For 2019? Y'all should just go create an OSU republic or something or demand for a state of your own..
