I want to ask how one could check the occupation ceiling for his/her prefer nominated occupation.

I understand that the chances of been invited after submitting an EOI depends on several things but one of it is the numbers of slots allocated to that occupation for that year and how many is left by the time u submit ur EOI.

I have several related occupation on the SOL list I can nominate, but I want to check the occupation ceiling on them before deciding which of them to nominate.

The petroleum downstream sector at the moment constitutes an oligopoly; a cartel, to be precise. Left to their own, they would devise ever unscrupulous means to rip off the rest of us and sooner we'll be having to acquire their products at ludicrous prices. What the government has done is to set an upper limit for the price, set no lower limit whatsoever and throw open the rights to import fuel to any Nigerian company. This should ensure that more people go into the business freely thus morphing the downstream sector towards a perfect competition that will inadvertently drive pump prices down in the long run.
Now whether or not this strategy will work in a country that consistently defies economic theories remains moot.

This was exactly what the Jonathan government moved to do in 2012, but the 'chains' people let hell loose on him, all for the sake of politics above national interest. SMH

In life there are 3 categories of people the “starters”, “the critiquers” and “the finishers”. The starters bring initiative to the table, the finishers complete it and “the critiquers” just do what their names suggest.
Whenever I have the privilege to be in a meeting, I always suggest no one critiques an idea without replacing it with a better one. A lot of people shout down an idea without any other reason than that the idea is bad.

This has really baffle me since this line of discussion ensue, but i couldn't have said it better like you did. Thanks so much bro for your constructive contribution thus far.

I also agree that we chill a bit say till end of June before embarking on this.

The active consensus now seems to be that the idea isn't a bad idea, but we should wait till end of June to see the turn of things before executing anything. Good one guys.

Comprehension is key. No one says they will cancel the recruitment cause some folks chose to enquire about the status of a recruitment process. A potential employer has the right to place any recruitment process on hold or to cancel for reasons best known to them. As at now, I am sorry the GTS are not of any business need. When the need arises, they will be contacted. It's as simple as this. Creating a handle, bombarding of mails will not make them shift their plans. At this moment GTS are not doing NLNG any favour. They owe no one no shit.

Context is essential. You sounds as though you re against the interest of this thread, though I know u dare not.

Common, we are only brainstorming here on what we could possibly do to help ourselves and if it works, it wasn't going to be for just me, freeradical and ceetee only, is for everyone. If you have a different opinion you, fine but say it constructively.

Again how did u come up with the conclusion of what their business need is and what is not. You have almost know more than Babs himself about when the GTs will be needed lol. Don't jump to hasty conclusion just to make an argument.

You really tried in convincing yourself that NLNG would start a process and invest funds in what is none of their business need for now.

I have a B.Sc Industrial Chemistry ( 4.01/5), Pgd Chemical Engineering ( Distinction ).

I applied for a Canadian admission for MSc.E Chemical Engineering. Normally for your admission to be successful you need to secure a supervisor whose research interest is similar to yours. I have done that and he encouraged me to apply. I submitted my application and after going through my application with other supporting documents like letter of motivation and others, he sent me a mail this afternoon that they want to consider me PhD instead of MSc I applied for. I'm very confused right now if to accept it or not considering high standard of education abroad as I use to hear, I haven't experienced foreign education before, this is my first. Please note my ultimate goal is to obtain a PhD. Please help me push to the front thread cos I need advice from experienced Nigerians who have studied abroad. Thanks. I appreciate

My dear, academically you will be fine. I did my MSc abroad (not bragging, just to want make a point), and I know of a Nigerian whose MSc was converted to PhD. And he completely it successfully, it was his first time schooling offshore as well.

The worry here is if u can fund a four years program instead of two years MSc. If fund isn't the problem, then don't panic, u will do fine and their system is so supportive that a struggling student in Nigeria can excel over there. Cheers.

@freeradical it is still OK to engage them subtly and creatively on twitter if the email thing is going down well with us. I think ur idea is good.

@vantage7, I don't think contacting a recruiting firm is anything 'uncharacteristic of an elite group', many have done it on a personal level on other matters and have received reply. The bombardment idea is just to draw the needed attention we crave.

'Highest assurance' and 'in due course' shouldn't stop us from asking a thing if we have to, however in a courteous way.

Quote me, one thing I know for sure, NLNG isn't canceling this recruitment because a candidate contacted them, how hilarious!

However, if the idea of contacting them as a team is unpopular, we can as well patiently hold our peace. Aren't we all in the wait together?

This isn't a bad suggestion. It may just work out. Let's get to it then. Make a draft of the mail seeking for update on the process and paste here for all to endorse.

I know there are some dudes who can write a more tightly worded email, but let me just drop this draft so we can start from there.

Please, i wish to humbly request for an update of the recruitment process and a likely time successful candidates will be called. This is to help me manage my plans as this recruitment is central to me at the moment.

Modified versions of this can then be use to bombard them (@ their email: Recruitment.Online@nlng.com) by all candidates starting from next week Monday (9/05/2016), or tweet it @nigeriaNLG and @BabsNLNG. We can use a combination of the options to send the different versions of the message, including posting it on their FB timeline.

The wait is somewhat annoying, and it's understandable if we feel agitated.

What we should ask ourselves is if there is anything we could do to voice our discomfort in this delay without undermining the process.

Venting our displeasure in the delay without channeling it towards a result will only provide emotional succour but it doesn't change the status quo.

I will suggest like before, that we should bombard them with mild email requesting updates on the process.

Remember, this was what we were about doing in January, before they sent the last emails.

Sounds laudable to the layman but he could still manage and equip both. You dont improve on the health sector by closing hospitals. They have their purposes.
He needs to build more and equip existing ones.
Much like robbing Kabiru to pay Haliru.

The fact that the governor travels abroad for his treatments does not mean that a government house hospital is unnecessary.

While it also sound laudable to have equip both, it is good this way. Lets them feel the situation in the public hospital as well.

So when next money is appropriated to the public services, they won't eat it because they will suffer it as well. Or do u think it is just the governor of these state that are corrupt, commissioners and the rest who enjoy these privileges and neglect the public facilities are the worst.

They should come and use the one the general public is using that way they will passionate to make it work. Or are they not the same citizens like u and i?
