Hello friends,
Thinking of relocating to either Canada or Australia after my MSc graduation here in UK this september.
Yes i know nothing is sure; I just need people in the know to kindly advice me on what are the possible opportunities available in these countries and what visa type is better in either country.
Just to help; I have 2.1 in Mechanical Engineering from Nigeria Uni; MSc in Subsea Engineering from UK Uni.
Have had about two (2) years working experience with a oil and gas contractor company in Nigeria before coming for my MSc in UK.
Your advice is appreciated, Thanks.

coolio2014: Actually I have said more than enough. Those that know what people in Shell, ExonMobil, Chevron and Total earn in that order, will more than understand. You should have humbly and simply asked for clarification instead of being cynical. My brother if you want to give info, give; if you dont want to give, then forget. Stop the name calling and the way you wrote that your former post was like you were coding the message (from your own future colleagues in no more than six months ). Makes me remember one of my classmate (abeg, not you o), that will always like his own classmate to be lobbying before he let out info. Me and na neva agree one day. Abeg, nor be like that o since we will be colleagues soon. Caveat: I wrote in Pidgin so that you will understand the tone of my msg, na joking tone o. |

Nicer: Amusing to see the number of people who claim to have 'insider' information here. All wrong by the way. wish you guys that have participated in the AC the best of luck. it's all down to you, not down to any referral, not down to any senatorial district (ridiculous!). just pray.... The most trustworthy source on this thread so far; thanks for stopping by to break words with us. Very reassuring and calming to the uneasiness that was gradually developing. To wait patiently isnt an easy feat; the favoured ones shall smile at last though. If i'm not asking for too much, we will appreciate if you come around like this quite often to dispel the lies from those who claim to have "inside sauce", and probably massage us with some nerves relaxing and insensitive info like this. |

Jobs/Vacancies › Re: Don't Be Brash And Over-confident: Lesson For Job Seekers by Dfavouredone: 10:30am On Jul 18, 2015 |
Kelklein: At the interview to fill the vacancy of a Field Engineer in a multinational oil company, two competent and qualified Engineers were shortlisted and the company was to decide on who to retain and who to show the red card.
They asked them If they could drive and they both answered in the affirmative even though only one of them could drive. The Head of the Human Resources spearheading the interview cum pruning session then handed his car keys to them to prove their driving skills within the premises.
The over-confident applicant collected the car key, opened the car, switched on the ignition, lighted it up, sped off, swirled, swerved and made some stunts on wheels before parking the car on the same spot to the seeming rousing applause and mischievously knowing smile of the interviewers.
The other applicant who could not drive collected the key all the same, opened the car, opened the bonnet, checked the engine oil level, the brake fluid level, the gear oil level and the water in the radiator level. As he closed the bonnet, the chief interviewer walked towards him and said: "Don't bother driving, you've just been hired!"
Precaution is more powerful than expertise! The race is not for the swiftest, but to the wise! Don't be brash and over-confident. Learn the ropes and never back off from giving your best even If you don't possess what it takes.
That someone is doing it fast doesn't mean he is doing it right! Direction is more important than speed! Exercise caution and take precaution in the journey of life- that's how to be recruited into the employment of success...
my2kobo Thanks friend for sharing. You just encouraged me. God bless you. |

If a man like this get the right motivation (from a system that works), Boko Haram would have been a thing of the past and Nigeria Army would been the best in Africa.

OluwaChinenyenwa: Good evening NLanders!! Justwise, worry357, spikesc and other lovely U.K diasporans
I have a cousin who also happens to be a Nairalander, i am bringing this here for her to get other opinions and stop disturbing me She'd soon be making her U.K student Visa application and then this news of foreign students leaving the country after studies dropped, she has been on the phone with me all evening crying cause she said she really wanted to stay back and work. i already told her to worry less cause by the time she has completed her four years in the U.K something else must have come up, i know i am very bad at motivating someone, LOL. She really can't go to any other country now cause 1)She has family in U.K and this might help settle her in fully well..
2)She already paid half of the tuition fees, everything for her Visa application is ready.
I just need you guys to say something positive to her, let her see the light at the end of that tunnel. I know some peeps are also in her shoes, so i guess whatever you guys tell her will also calm some spirits down..
Thanks My brother the best motivation is to say the truth as it is. Things are getting bad and to deceive somebody to something that might get even worst is worth re-considering. With the way things are going, we dont expect the immigration situation of foreign student to improve tremendously in four years. She is better of requesting for a refund from her school and going somewhere else (where ever that is except UK - though i prefer Canada). Many self sponsor students in my school wished each day, they had chosen other more friendly destinations. As for settling because her family is in UK, I think this is the aspect you can concentrate on motivating her that she can survive else if others have been surviving (besides she has her money and isnt going there to survive by hustling - i guess). My one cent. Prevention is better than Cure. |

So far so good about 400 persons would hv done the AC since it started on the 8th of June, all things been equal.
Four weeks into the AC excercise and with 20 persons per day.
2 weeks in Abuja and another 2 weeks in Lagos so far.
4 weeks * 5 days/wk * 20 persons/day = 400 persons done till date.
Questions??
Does AC till continue in Lagos next week?
When does PH AC start?
When is the end date for this AC?
If this AC continues like this every week without any break in between and some persons claim to have AC in August, then AC peeps could be up to 1000 altogether?
Lastly, those that have done theirs have you started receiving refund for your transport, because i have not yet receive any though i did mine on the second day of the whole excercise? |
Career › Re: 10 Rules For Getting Guaranteed Promotion Without Any Hard Work! by Dfavouredone: 9:36pm On Jul 03, 2015 |
As much as these rules tries to look like you are not serious or committed; it could be apply alongside with real commitment to duty for effective result.
That way, your commitment will give result for your bosses to see while these rules will be magnifying the input you put in to achieve the results.
Maywhile, this rules does not just work in Nigeria, I live in England; i can say it works world wide. But just ensure you produce real results as these rules only magnify the input and effort needed to produce the results you are producing.
Beside, it is the white man that applies this rule the most. As they will make even small work look like they have to conquer maintain everest to get it done; so that they get lots of praises and probably higher pay and promotion.
Like the poster above said, it is called 'packaging'. But lets me emphasize that you do the real work and get result for this 'magnifying the effort' packaging to work and impress your boss. |
