Kriptic: Forget o. I left in Naija and came into Aberdeen with indomie, garri, egusi, ogbono, knorr cubes, suya pepper, crayfish, bitterleaf, groundnut, iru and even native ogiri sef. I just couldn't be stopped mehn. I just gave the customs folks at naija the sweetest smile and told them I'm a student and the woman let me go like that (still can't believe my luck). Then my bags were not even checked in Aberdeen. I just picked up my bags from the baggage claim and left the airport like that.
So, if you can carry them (except for the palm oil, that might be pushing your luck too far), by all means go ahead. Hello bro, please i am coming to aberdeen from Cranfield to do a training at TWI, looking for someone to hook up with. Can you help, please? |

Long read. With this NLNG may even take us all who meet a set bench mark.
NLNG, BGT commission four new hi- tech LNG vessels November 25, 2015 Port Harcourt, Nigeria Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG), through its subsidiary, Bonny Gas Transport Limited (BGT), recently commissioned four new vessels as part of a strategic expansion programme to strengthen and make it more globally competitive. The LNG Bonny II built by HHI was named by the wife of the King of Bonny, Mrs. Paula Tamunoipiriye Pepple. LNG Lagos II, also built by HHI was named by the wife of the Lagos State Governor, Mrs Bolanle Ambode. LNG Port Harcourt II built by SHI was named by the wife of the Governor of Rivers State, Mrs Suzette Nyesom-Wike. LNG Finima II was named by the wife of the Minister of state for Petroleum and Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC ) , Mrs Elizabeth Kachikwu, who was however represented by the Legal Counsel of NLNG, Edith Unuigbe. The four vessels to be delivered before the end of 2015 are Dual Fuel Diesel Electric (DFDE), and a more fuel efficient and modern model of vessels. LNG Bonny 11 and LNG Lagos 11 are enhanced with a capacity of 177,000 cubic metres, a length of 299 metres and a breath of 46 metres, while LNG Finima 11 and LNG Port-Harcourt 11 are enhanced with a capacity of 175,000 cubic metres, a length of 293 metres and a breath of 48 metres- about the size of three football pitches. At the HHI ceremony in Ulsan, South Korea, Babs Omotowa, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of NLNG said “The commissioning marks a clear demonstration of our commitment to the rejuvenation of our assets as well as our efforts at ensuring that we continuously strengthen our reputation and status as a reliable and efficient LNG company operating in a very competitive world energy market. “This august ceremony, also prepares us for the future with plans for expansion of operations. NLNG is currently planning for additional trains that will increase its production capacity by 40 percent to some 30 million tonnes annually. Our shipping capacity must therefore also grow to meet the demands of this expansion. “I must mention here also, that thanks to Nigeria LNG’s local content vision as well as support from HHI that for the first time, some Nigerian companies have participated in the construction of our vessels here in Ulsan. Nexans KabelMetal, Berger Paints, Paints and Coating Manufacturers Nigeria and Metec West Africa became involved, supplying cables, paints and anodes valued at over $10million,” he added. He said about 580 young Nigerians have benefited from the partnership with HHI and SHI in developing local skills in ship design and construction. He stated that the skills development took place in Bonny, Rivers State, Lagos State and South Korea where over 200 Nigerians participated in the actual construction of the vessels. The naming ceremonies were witnessed by dignitaries including the Charge d'affaires of the Nigerian Embassy in South Korea, Mr Momoh Sheida Omeiza. Contrary to some online news medium, NLNG/BGT/NNPC attendance was 33 (as against the false and misleading 110 reported) and this number is inclusive of Board Members of BGT who were holding their 57th Board meeting to coincide with the event, the God mothers and an aide each, few relevant senior management staff, and the former Managing Director and his deputy, who did the initial work culminating in the accomplishments of the moment, as well as an external media representative who covered the event. Other attendees at the events such as International Banks who financed the ships, Class Societies, etc, all attended at their own costs. The naming ceremonies were also attended by the Nigerian crew on-board the vessels as well as the Nigeria trainees who are based in Korea undergoing shipbuilding training as part of technology skills transfer aspects of our Nigerian Content initiative. The remaining two vessels will be commissioned and delivered in 2016. NLNG is owned by four shareholders, namely, the Federal Government of Nigeria, represented by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC (49%), Shell Gas BV, SGBV, (25.6%), Total LNG Nigeria Limited (15%), and Eni International (N.A,) N. V. S. a. r. l (10.4%). Kudo Eresia-Eke General Manager, External Relations Division

Education › Re: See How Facebook Drastically Improved My Son's Grades In School by Dfavouredone: 11:46am On Sep 22, 2015 |
Dear Nairalanders,
I read a post last week wherein a Nairalander mentioned the positive impact of the internet on his daughter's health. I am here to give my own testimony, but this time, the positive impact of the Internet on my child's education. This is very notable to me because many people, especially those who believe in hardwork are always too quick to point out the dangers in the Social Media, particularly, Facebook. My son is attending one of the best secondary schools in Lagos and to be honest, the teachers are doing so much there that I couldn't think of a better school where my child could be more improved. At a time, the mother and I thought his grades were ridiculous because there were so many brilliant students in their class. We made several visits to the school where they made us know that they had already spotted him as being far below average and had since concentrated much effort on him.
To our dismay, none of the 'efforts' worked. We decided to try him on assignments for lower classes but he failed woefully. Two home tutors stopped coming abruptly when they noticed they were not getting any improvement to justify their pay. We got worried that even if we were able to push him through secondary school, he might never be able to cope with any higher education. I decided to speak to my Pastor's wife (not on spiritual grounds but because she is an educationist and also owns a school). Surprisingly, she referred me to a Facebook group of educational consultants. Right in the church, she opened her phone and invited me to the group. I had no internet access at that moment, so I promise to take necessary steps on reaching home.
Still with great unbelief, I decided to give it a try. I was accepted to the group and I was able to post my son's problem. Within three hours, I got great hints (which even my son's teachers had never thought about). I was a little skeptical because the most convincing contributor's recommendations required about six weeks of intensive exercise for us and the child. To cut the whole story, the solution to my son's problem came from a Facebook group and the most outstanding fact is that I didn't spend a dime. It is just as if something was cast out of my son. Now he even reads in the loo and answers questions like a genius... I have made personal contact with one of the consultants to give my testimony but I decided to share it here to corroborate the fact that the INTERNET CAN RESHAPE BLURRY DREAMS... Use it wisely

Seun: I hereby propose to create a new rule that forbids anyone from asking for money for money - especially investments and donations - on Nairaland later today. The enforcement of this rule will completely block the activities of many scammers. Any objections? It is not a bad idea; but isn't a perfect idea as well. Everyone is warn to deal with people they meet on any social media with caution. Effecting this rule wouldn't be a game changer, but has the remote chances of depriving someone of a lifeline sometime, someday. So i will advocate that you do not implement this policy but get your staff to keep watch and monitor people's activities as much as possible. My opinion. Please get back to us whatever you decide. Good thing that you are consulting and carrying NLer along; that is very thoughtful of you. |

Health › Re: How The Internet Helped Restore My Baby's Health by Dfavouredone: 4:03pm On Sep 16, 2015 |
kennysteve77: Fellow Nairalanders,
With great joy in my heart I give this brief account of how the internet helped restore my baby's health and prevented possible long-term complications. My lovely eight-month old baby suddenly began having seizures few days ago. It was so severe that it worried me and her mum so much that we though it was a spiritual attack. She would suddenly stiffen her neck and shake with great energy (seemingly unconscious), and then return to normal mode in less than a minute.
It happened like 3-5 times every 15minutes. Everytime it occurred, we felt like weeping as the ever lovely baby seemed to have been strangely hijacked. We rushed to the hospital and some blood tests were recommended. On seeing the results, the Doctors quickly knew it was a brain infection coupled with Malaria. Although some of them were worried that all other symptoms of Malaria and infection were absent in the baby - no high temperature, no yellow eyes, baby actively playing and sucking. The doctors immediately commenced treatment with strong antibiotics passed directly into her bloodstream + antimalarial drugs. Twice daily she was receiving the medications but on the third day, they got more worried that there was no improvement.
My wife was drastically losing her joy while everyone else was praying. On the evening of that third day, my wife picked her phone and began an extensive research on Google.com for possible causes of such condition. She stumbled on a research paper that presented the Negative Effects of Soybean in Babies. This paper caught her attention because two days before the seizures began, she introduced Soybean into our baby's food formula (on a Doctor's recommendation). The article stated that Soybean inhibits the production of Trypsin which is very essential for infants and also triggers irregular impulse in the brain neurotransmitters thereby causing frequent seizures which, after a long period, could render the child epileptic. The paper added that the inhibition of Trypsin could lower the immune system (which could make doctors believe it to be an infection).
We immediately stopped feeding the baby with the formula but we didn't notify anyone of the finding to allow a continued treatment. By the following day, the seizures started fading and in just two days, it went away completely. We are still in awe with this discovery while we are very glad that the baby is back to normal life, but I felt - this might help someone someday.
Cc: lalasticlala Wow, while i am very happy for you to know that joy would have returned to you family again, there is another lesson in your story. Lesson Is good to have a smart wife that can take initiative. |

DMainMan: The Petroleum Technology Development Fund wishes to clarify that, contrary to some media reports, the Fund has not cancelled or intends to stop its Overseas Scholarship Scheme in the immediate. This is in view of the continued relevance of the scheme in building a crop of well-trained Nigerian professionals to effectively manage the critical sectors of the oil and gas industry as well as the academia.
The intention of PTDF in reviewing the operations of the scheme through its training domestication drive is to increase the involvement of local universities whose facilities and faculties have over the years been massively upgraded by the Fund. Source please |

Romance › Re: 8 Places Where Men Can Get A Wife Material In Nigeria. by Dfavouredone: 2:00am On Aug 25, 2015 |
Toks2008: Before i go ahead to list these places,i must state emphatically that women are women. I know plenty of people in great relationships that have met in places like pubs and dance clubs. same goes for super markets and sidewalks. there are skanky bitches every where and there are awesome chicks everywhere so the list does not apply 100%.
Nevertheless,in my opinion,i have meticulously sieved out great places where men can have a real good chance of meeting ladies who will most likely make good house wives and mothers and while some may sound realistic to you, some may sound odd and outright funny but i will try my best to give a concise and brief reason why i chose these places so lets take a ride.
1.The food market: You will likely see ladies who are well groomed in kitchen affairs in the food market especially in the section where great experience is needed in deciphering good food items from bad ones and of-course a lady who understands how to stock the kitchen will have a good idea of how to make good meals and the way to a man's heart stil remains through his stomach.
2.Catering Schools: Trust me,most ladies in catering schools are definitely interested in learning the kitchen tricks and i can't stress it enough that a lady who knows how to cook very well will definitely make her husband happy.
3.The mid-week religious gathering: Yes you will be wondering why i chose the mid-week. The truth is that any lady can go to church on Sundays or to jumait service on Fridays but it takes a lady who is really close to GOD or have the love for GOD to go to religious gathering during the week when she can as well be at home watching telemudo and a lady who loves GOD will surely love her family.
4.Marriage classes : Make no mistake about this,a single lady attending marriage classes is definitely interested in making her future marriage secured and when you find any single and searching lady in this meeting please go for her and you will most likely never regret it.
5.BRT BUS TERMINAL: I know this will come as a surprise to many people but it may interest you that waiting to get into a BRT bus most times requires lots of patience and a lady who can be patient enough to wait in line for a BRT bus to show up will most likely be patient with her hubby through trying times lol!
6.Mama put joint:Yes very very funny but think about it.Many ladies prefer the effizy of going to big time fast food joints just to form butty and would rather prefer to eat pizza in these restaurants whereas the worms in their belly are yearning for good amala with gbegiri and ewedu soup with choice meat or any decent meal.So if you see a lady in mama put restaurant innocently swallowing her amala please pay attention to her because she is likely to be a down to heart zero-effizy and humble lady which are good qualities of a wife material.
7.Nairaland food, family and religion section: This is very realistic because the internet is one place where you can be yourself and on nairaland forum we have various sections you can visit uninhibited so if you see any single lady viewing the family, religion or food section asides front page topics then she is truly religious, family oriented and naturally inclined to food matters so tell me if such a lady will not make a great wife?
8.Her work place: Definitely ladies who have groomed themselves to be financially independent and busy doing one thing or the other rather than jumping from one place to another with different guys are likely suitable as wife materials.
I guess i have tried and you are free to add yours. My friend just say anywhere, after mentioning those places where else is left again before to find wife. |
