some obscure people are getting kidnapped nowadays just for sympathy and the a bit of publicity, I mean who knows these dudes, what have they ever done for their communities apart from sit of big chairs and get government money when the governors comes around

I think there should be a way to report these people to BANKs not EFCC, banks should be able to freeze or even blacklist them forever!

Efcc, where do you start from, their inactive email address or physically going to their office to report 'minor' crime

TravelRe: --is It A Sign Of Cowardice To Travel Abroad In Search Of Money?-- by DisGuy(mod): 1:18pm On Aug 07, 2012
Absolutely not! just as it isnt cowardice to leave the village to exploit opportunities in the city, I have also seen people make that sort of inane assumptions, especially about student going to study abroad; apparently they couldnt pass jamb thats why they are trtying to get education in foreign schools.

Some people happen to know alot of people living in high end areas of lagos, have good decent jobs, and jump to conclude anyone travelling for opportunities they cant find in their home country is sort of below par

The main thing is having a plan and going for a purpose with skills and correct documents

We absolutely have no chance of winning a medal in d 4 x 400 meters, so she has to put all her effort in tomorrow finals. She surprised me by breaking her personal best. She has to run a low 54secs to win a medal.
Hmm Felix Sanchez n Ajoke?

sessydoo: U re very correct sir. Right from the days of Sanusi as FBN MD. Go and find out. the Mallam has personal beef for Erastus or else why has he not prosecuted other bank MD thieves? SLS is full of persona vendetta and selective victimisation making the industry that used to be the highest employer of labour to become a shadow of itself. A more intelligent person would do what SLS did (in a diff way) without casuing a systemic failure and panic in that industry. His own time is coming, when a King that knows NOT Pharao would reign and bring this Boko haram CBN Gov to judgement. he sold all the perceived weak banks to his cronies and political Godfathers at 1 kobo (God is watching ooo). pls Dont get me wrong oo, im not in support of what Erastus did, infact hes a disgrace to the banking institution BUT SLS and Co (Saraki, Aig, Layi Alabi etc) are worse off. SLS has killed the banking industry..its very sad and appalling. My heart bleeds for a nation so blessed with natural n human resources but cursed with thieves n rogues in Govt....when Sanusi finishes playing his Godfathers' scripts, he should tell us o. and to think dat some gullible consider this rogue called SLS as a saint...mtchewwwww. fresh air abegiiiiiii. His own judgement time is by the corner
Go and find out? why dont you want to tell us?

ARe the other Directors not in court as we speak?

The banking sector was buzzing with recruitment fairs, doesnt make it the highest employer of labour by any stretch of imagination, some banks dont have upto 6000 workers, even Banking sector in US is also a shadow of itself in terms of recruitment, but thanks to their govt they are on some defined path of recovery
PoliticsRe: Akingbola’s Assets Are Up For Sale – Sanusi Lamido by DisGuy: 9:21pm On Aug 02, 2012
Hi, you also sound like u know much about the banking industry, like i said this forum is not appropriate for discussing dat beef tin. however u can ask one or two questns from some bankers dat re relatively high in rank or middle mgt. that notwithstanding nobody is saying they shld not prosecute erastus bc hes a thief and a disgrace to d banking industry but SLS is not better, he is worse off and his judgement day is just by d corner
where is the appropriate place? ok Sanusi's judgement is by the corner s

So how did this beef developed to this stage? Did Sanusi make a bid for Inter within his short period as MD?
still cant understand why someone cant just pin point this beef?

sessydoo: Hey bro, it is quite obvious you dont know much abt Politics in Nig banks. SLS also has personal issue with Cecilia but this forum is not d appropriate place to discuss it. Im not saying these thieving MD shld not refund whatever they stole oo but SLS is not better. He is worse off, a cameleon, selling off those banks at a ridiculous price to his political Godfathers n friends, and wrting off facilties that were well secured just bc they were taken by his Godfathers (if you understand those banking terms). cheiii i weep for this nation
WHAT IS THIS PERSONAL BEEF SANUSI HAS WITH AKINGBOLA? PEOPLE HAVE BEEN SAYING he has beef with this intercontinental dude since he was at FBN, what exactly is it? did he sack sanusi, did he steal his wife? did he humiliate him in public/privayte, this incomplete rumuor

he has beef with everyone it would seem? what exactly is the beef ?

When the CBN listed the names of those owing the banks and cruising about with yachts and private jets, does he have beef with them too
AMCON is working with CBN and ministry of finance, CBN making an obvious comment on how the money will be recovered doesnt sound like anything out of order, SELL his pants too if you can, atleast taxpayers will be able to get more juice from access bank now

its a case of baboon dey work monkey dey chop, the policy was to end cement importation by 2012/13 hence gradual descrease of importation quota
but mr Ibeto no wan invest for country, him wan dey import, whilst THE REST not only dangote we're investing heavily in manufacturing.

Kobojunkie: Ok! Isn't Access Bank registered in Nigeria? Isn't this an indirect way of registering lack of faith in the Nigerian system then?

That's kind of like NBA going to the UK to sue, Kobi Bryant or something. lol
I think Access subsidary in UK, not too sure , i read the main article in the FT, couldnt get access to it anymore

according to new uk laws i think residents can be sued for crimes committed abroad cheesy

the case was brought before the london courts when pastor Akin was briefly staying/living in london avoiding EFCC, it ws brought BY Access bank

na this kind comment they sweet me, GEJ should learn from this

metro10: It's a shame that the nigeria judicial system is so wacked up, we have to go britian for a genuine legal verdict. Let the british just come back to continue with their colonization, since we are deprived of a better self rule system. Shame on our leadership.
The subsidy case should be outsourced to the british too.
If that happens, they'll probably get 80% of the money back cash n assest and bar upto a 80 people from ever holding public office again
culminating in upto 3 ministers resigning!!

BusinessLondon Court: Erastus Akingbola To Pay £600m For Share Fraud by DisGuy(op): 10:31pm On Jul 31, 2012
One of Nigeria’s largest banks has won a ruling in London’s High Court against a former executive, who is now liable to pay the bank more than £600m in damages.
Access Bank, which acquired Intercontinental Bank last year, brought legal action in the High Court against Erastus Akingbola, the former managing director of Intercontinental Bank.

Mr Akingbola was removed from his post in 2009 after an investigation into the bank by the Central Bank of Nigeria, which later had to rescue Intercontinental – at the time one of Nigeria’s largest banks, employing 20,000 people.
Intercontinental was one of eight stricken lenders bailed out by the Nigerian central bank following a debt crisis caused partly by loans to speculators in equities.
The civil lawsuit brought by Access alleged there were unlawful share purchases – spearheaded or at least known about by Mr Akingbola – whereby Intercontinental bought its own shares in order to bolster its stock price.
It was claimed that Intercontinental eventually owned approximately 25 per cent of its own share capital, and when the Nigerian stock market collapsed in 2009 the bank was left owning worthless shares.
Mr Akingbola had denied there was an unlawful scheme or that he was part of it.
The legal action was brought in London because at the time the lawsuit was issued, the former managing director was living in London.

BusinessRe: Dangote, Ibeto: Battle For Cement Market by DisGuy: 11:47pm On Jul 30, 2012
one would even think Ibeto was such a big player like Dangote was holding his joystick, there Lafarge expanded or merged, CCNN, Ashaka etc stuck to teh new policies, the expanded but Ibeto's only strategy was to continue whining and blaming the Aboki

The current production data from the various plants in the country, obtained from Cement Manufacturers Association of Nigeria, CMAN, show that the country's total cement production capacity is now at 22.5 million metric tonnes (mmt) per annum while the country's cement consumption is 18.5mmt.

Dangote alone currently accounts for 15 million mmt annum (Ibese- 6mmt, Benue Cement- 4mmt; Obajana- 5mmt) while Lafarge Wapco Cement Plc group is contributing 7.5mmt (Ewekoro l- (1.2mmt; Shagamu Cement Plant- 800,000metric tonnes and Ewekoro ll- 2.5mmt). Unicem produces 2.5mmt while Ava cement produces 500,000 metric tonnes.
where is Ibetooo? Cement Importers association of Nigeria?

Group Chairman/CEO, Lafarge, Bruno Lafont, said: "This new plant brings our capacity to more than 8 million tonnes of cement in Nigeria alone. We are determined to continue to make a meaningful and valuable contribution to the socio-economic development of Nigeria. That is my pledge to all of you.

So this new plant will help to keep Nigeria self-sufficient in cement. It will create the foundation for future economic development in your country. It will employ, and provide skills for hundreds of Nigerians and it will benefit hundreds more indirectly. It is something for us all to be proud of."
What is wrong with supporting people like these?

and where are these traders? they sold their quotas when they realised it wasnt moin moin, they suddenly realised they would be doing more than just buying and selling

It would be recalled that the late President Umaru Musa Yar'dua lifted the ban on importation of bulk cement in 2009, and granted import licenses to six new firms along the existing cement producers to flood the market with the commodity and crash the price.

The six new companies that got the import licenses to complement existing ones were: Minaj Holdings Limited, Enugu, Madewell products, Sapele, BUA International Limited, Kano; NICA Limited, Maiduguri; Reagan Renaissance Limited, Calabar and MAAN Labadi, Lagos.

They joined the seven existing players: Lafarge Cement WAPCO Nigeria; Ashaka Cement; Benue Cement Company, Gboko; Obajana Cement, Kogi; UNICEM Calabar; Cement Company of Northern Nigeria, Sokoto and DURECHEM, Ogun State.
