Zutchy: Why must everything have racial undertones with you people, instead of you to be asking whether the new people are performers who will achieve what they've been appointed for,you in all your simple mindedness have decided to play the tribal card,SHAME ON YOU.
its not a new thing, in the past when yaradua/obj was there he was accused of the same thing, so what's the big deal if this one gets a bit of it

Chubhie: Am getting impressed..I hope he has enough hard evidence to nail them finally just in-case they decide to fight back and make him look dumber.

He seems to have a good heart and good intentions. I wish him a lions heart.
dont think this dude is interested in nailing anybody to be honest, he'd rather let you go and enjoy your loot and let peace reign

and what do you mean 'in case they decide to fight back'

first, hats off to you engineer

I might not be using the right terms but I know for certain some bases are fenced off wherever possible and some areas are protected by cables/wire fences

not really interested in the technical jargon of how they are built but perhaps you can lecture us on the safety aspect of building them, thanks
whose main responsibility is it to ensure people don't build houses/shops underneath, in place where there is high population/commercial activity would it make sense to wire fence them or not?
@Dis_Guy,
First, do you want to point out to us all where in the picture you attached the transmission line is fenced off so no one could stay underneath it?

Second, are you sure you want to have this discussion with someone who designs and builds transmission lines for a living? Are you sure you know jack about what you are talking about?

@Dis_Guy,
This is perhaps the most st*upid statement I have ever come across on nairaland. Going by how many of such stupid statements I have seen on this site, Dis_Guy has really achieved something special.
explain oga, Why are tranformers in estates fenced off, why are even smaller generating sets kept in an enclosed area of factories, where in the world do you see power companies allowing access under these sort of cables transmitting electricity from one region to the other. You dont just allow people build shacks underneath transmission lines, what are health and safety officials employed at PHCns for? to protect their staff only?

Eziachi: You don't have to look far to see one- His wife Patience was his student.
When he said with a bare-face about caring less about asset declaration and even pushing Yar Adua to do so, shows how corrupt the guy is. A teacher who was sleeping with his own student (Patience) you don't expect him to be on the front line of moral crusade.

Its unfortunate that some silly people make out his dullness as being mild.
I have always said it that- one thing I can bet my life about Nigeria is the fact that any new leader will be worse than the one he/she succeeded and I had never been proven wrong till this day.
Abeg if na curse make you stop am o!! surely we cant get someone worse that this!! we thought yaradull was bad (was he bad or just slow)

fm7070: I wonder why some Nigerians don't value their lives. I discover that power line has negative distance effect of people living under it.
I have seen many places where people build houses directly under the Power Lines. If Government demolish those houses, we will begin to complain.
demolishing the house is an after thought, people shouldnt be able to build houses there in the first place, the govt/pchn should have an estate and facilities department and also monitoring dept to prevent people from go as far as building on their property

InvestmentRe: Top 10 Best Nig. Investment Banks In This Meltdown Period? by DisGuy: 8:59pm On Jun 25, 2012
deenee: We are all to blame for the crisis and I will say without doubt that we are in it for the long haul if we don't change our mindset. No doubt, "models" are good for forecast, sensitivity and scenario analysis purposes. My question is can they really quantify how far
a man's "avarice" will take him?

I recently watched the infamous video clip of "Mr Integrity" stuffing wads of dollar bills into his hat and at that very moment I asked myself certain questions? At what price? This is someone who has been in the house for 13 years and makes an estimated 1/4 of a billion naira in allowances per year and is rumored to be a favored candidate come 2015. Models are as good as the level of the avarice of the individual that develops them. It is this avarice that compelled Citibank to rack up billions of worthless credit swaps because the models predicted them to be a good investment, even when the crisis was at its peak.

No amount of qualification, quantitative modeling or certification will change this until we are able to control our level of greed. The irony is that man by default is selfish and the game of finance is a zero sum game. The billions have not disappeared as posited by one poster. It is just that some people have made a lot of money whilst some lost a great deal at the same time.
really?

2good: First, it is not PHCN's responsibility to prevent people from selling under high tension wire as there are other government agencies like Kick Against Indiscipline(KAI) etc. responsible for that.

You speak like you are not in Nigeria where government agency like KAI regularly arrest these people, seize their goods and immediately the KAI official leave, people come back. Infact the KAI officials are insulted and labelled wicked for seizing the goods of these people. What else do you want government to do?
it's PCHN responsibility to ensure their cables/sites are cordoned off so people cant trade under them! juts like train companies would get the blame for not blocking off acess to their train tracks, you build things with safety in mind not the other way round expecting people not to go there

ochukoccna: Can anyone in the system [UK} give me the 411 on the above places viz a viz student life
1] Newcastle
2] Liverpool
3] London[ been reading some comments about this city from the thread already, seems it quite an expensive place for students]
4] Oxfordshire
Thanks
1) Newcastle; cool city, reasonably priced flats , especially if you rent a whole house with friends and share the bills, in areas where student population is high, the prices are a bit steep, the social life is decent very affordable night outs, cool calm town, just dont get drunk too often. Trains to London are expensive so you must book well in advance!

2) Liverpool; Me na kno!

3) London; You already know, you're most likely to get carried away chasing paper here. If you wanna study in London, you need to settle down quickly and focus!

4) Oxford; Large student population with 2 universities and several colleges, things are surprisingly expensive, Accommodation can be pretty expensive, cos most decent one are close to universities, the rest you will need to get buses, but its very cycle friendly smiley Neat city, very vibrant social scene loads of studenty things to do, it would help if you don't restrict yourself to only Nigerian crowd to enjoy the city; as there just a growing nigerian/african population hence very little activities targeted at them. Coach to London is cheap and frequent
