There is a world of difference between scientific and medical institutions – where research is expensive and grants tend to be large – and other types of institution. This helps to explain why a world-class institution such as the London School of Economics can be ranked in one table no higher than 86th. What's more, research income is an input measure, and will tend to be higher in countries investing seriously in research. It does not speak to the quality of output, where UK universities have consistently demonstrated outstanding return on investment.

Like other posters have rightly noted, a lot depends on the finances of the OP, and where s/he wants to work post-MBA. Also, if the OP doesn't have any experience in IB/Finance/Consulting, the MBA might be like Bosoms on a hog

From my perspective, it clearly doesn't make sense to throw 40m @ an MBA, and begin an uncertain job-search after.

I'd rather trade/invest, then consider doing an MBA thereafter. Heck! HBS aint even #1 these days,

PS. I think those folks masquerading as HBS grads with their 1 wk certificates are clowns. Those programs are excellent, but no one in the west puts those on their profile/resume,

Its not just Arik that operates Lagos-Enugu flights. Aero and Air Nigeria also operate flights on Lagos-Enugu route.

At least one-third and possibly up to half of the international passenger traffic through Lagos airport alone actually originates and terminates in the East. That traffic is more than enough to sustain direct flights to international airports at Enugu and Owerri especially from certain routes - Dubai/Guangzhou/Far East as well as Houston, Chicago and Atlanta. Those are not sentimental considerations.

A daily Emirates flight with Boeing 777 from Enugu to Dubai or Guangzhou will be over-booked 24/7/365. Have you ever witnessed the arrival of Emirates or Qatar Airways flight at MMA? What language did you hear most in the arrivals hall or at the luggage carousel? This is not a sentimental consideration.

A Delta Airlines flight Houston-Enugu 2 or 3 times a week will equally be overbooked. The sheer size of the Igbo community in Texas alone is not a sentimental consideration by any means.

The question is why are they (the operators)not pressing for a direct flight to these destinations

Emirates operates 2 daily flights Lagos-Dubai and is seeking to expand to Abuja soon. At least half of the passengers on the Emirates flights began their journey in the East and are returning to the East. About 50-60% are going to Dubai while the rest are connecting in Dubai to Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur and other Far East destinations.

Most of the passengers on Qatar Airways, Kenyan Airways, Ethiopian Airlines and Egyptair are actually travelling to Dubai and the Far East - at least half of those originated their journey in the East. People going to Dubai use these airlines because they are usually $200-300 cheaper than Emirates direct flight if you don't mind waiting a few hours in transit at Doha, Nairobi, Addis or Cairo. From Jan 2012, Royal Jordanian Airlines will operate Lagos-Amman; again, this is basically a Dubai/Far East flight. Its said that Etihad will start operating Lagos-Abu Dhabi next year also. There is also China Southern Airlines operating Lagos-Beijing.

Why is Emirate seeking to expand to abuja instead of the east, why are the marginalizing the east, they could press the FG to have a landing slot directly at the source

Methinks that this airport, coupled with a good Enugu-Port Harcourt expressway, would couple with Owerri International Cargo Airport to cover the whole Igbo heartland properly.

I don't think this airport will work as well as it is intended. Anyway, judging from the pictures and how little the entire construction is, and also from other airports in Nigeria, I really don't think this airport will be of international standard, apart from the runway, like the new Lagos terminal. It would probably be like the tiny Port Harcourt airport.

You dont just build a big airport gbam, you start from somewhere, how many international airline have been promising to go to the east, and still the traffic with all the chest beating is nothing to write home about, let them build a standard airport then expand from there

An MBA is not seen as academic and no one does an MBA for the classes or really to learn anything of value. Its name branding and people know that when go and do an MBA. I still never understand why people keep on bring up the class content issue like its rocket science.

I meant those executive education programs do not get you recruited for anything neither are they a major addition in your CV. The MBA brand is what makes Harvard business School elite and the executive education is just a money spinner for them for people gullible enough to pay for them.

And for chrissake no respectable person really considers an MBA an "academic" program. I dont blame you sha for your disdain for education.

since we were using d same line but separate meters, i just called PHCN officials to reconnect my line. All i paid then was like13k to run separate wire from the pole.
They threatened to send me out cos i relocated the meter but dey culdnt do anythg!!
Whn PHCH comes now, they just disconnect dir wire from the pole and leave my own wire.
its very simple, just appeal to your husband and u guys can just run a separate wire from from the pole so anytime PHCN officials come, dey disconnect his line from the pole even if u r using the same meter.
