However, the Commissioner of Police, Anti-Bomb Squad, Mr. Ambrose Aisabor, on Saturday told journalists in a telephone interview that the business was legal as it was authorised by the police anti-bomb unit.
He said that STF was being mischievous by going on the air even when one of his officers had intervened to tell them the true position.
According to him, the company that owned the consignment is licensed by the Ministry of Solid Minerals Development to deal in explosives for commercial purposes.
He said that the explosives were being moved from the company’s magazine (a place where explosives are escorted like armoury for arms) in Kaduna to its Jos office before the truck was intercepted.
Aisabor added that the constable, who was escorting the explosives was properly authorised by his superiors in Kaduna, adding that the fact that he was not wearing his uniform as at the time the truck was intercepted, was an issue that could be dealt with departmentally.
He said, “Explosives are used in aviation, road construction, oil companies to blast stones and the company has the proper licence to do the business. This is a cheap propaganda and they have succeeded in just deceiving themselves. They want people to know that they are working.
“The movement was a legal one and the law allows only men of the anti-bomb squad (Explosives Ordinance Depot) to escort such consignment to its final destination. Indeed, the truck was only 200 metres to its destination, AT Mister Ali, before it was intercepted. I was made to understand that one of my officers asked the driver to give the phone to the soldiers to speak to them but they refused. http://www.punchng.com/Articl.aspx?theartic=Art2011031311163048Jonathan and his boy boy security chief whipping up fake alarms, very incompetent bunch from head to toe! |

Ibeto has been threatening to list on the NSE since 2006 |

Now, i'd calculation of empirical and molecular formulae in those books and they'd presented it in a very easy to understand and apply system so i started using it to solve problems on that topic. Now our first assesment test for chemistry was entirely on empirical and molecular formulae. I used the method i learnt from the books to solve the questions and got each of them right so imagine my surprise when our test scripts were returned and i got a big, fat zero. The woman then wrote at the bottom; "is this what i taught you?" Lmao, and i can bet if you try to challenge her, you will be in her bad book forever! Why are teachers/lecturers so dictatorial ? |

EMANY 01: I have been preparing to take my masters in the UK but I wonder that it would be odd being in a class with people looking , Well much younger than you am pretty much hugging thirty. For those already there what's the age distribution of an average masters class in say the engineering field. @ topic/poster Never having schooled abroad I could never tell which is harder though I would imagine that regardless of the "stress' that we passed through here it could never be as hard as it is there. I mean I’m preparing to take a top up year in a university in the UK and the reading materials/list they have sent me is absolutely massive (control engineering , digital signal processing, advanced engineering mathematics and microelectronics). I covered these areas broadly in my undergraduate studies (the Nigerian way) but the reading materials/list sent states objectives that mean I have to cover about three years work again(self study by the way) This time in much more detail as i have to have much more than a passing familiarity with the concepts otherwise I am toast as soon as I get there. The fact that i have to take a top up year tells a story about the state of the facilities for training the future technical resource people of this country.Oh by the way i went through n an FUT: go figure. You have absolutely nothing to worry about there are over 30s in undergraduate engineering course, and the don't feel out of place if anything the younger students acknowledge their real life work experience. Age is nothing when it comes to education in the UK, as long as you are not expecting anyone to call you 'uncle' 'bros' instead of your first name, even the professors are address usually by their first name- the only person that knows your age is you! |

Seems some people are saying one of the reason quality is better is because of the fees?
do students have to pay higher fees in nigerian universities before Lecturers start respecting their students or changing their dictatorial style of teaching?
What does higher fees have to do with cleaning the university environment, some schools in Nigeria have dirty dustbin like environment! What does it take the VC/Lecturers etc to actually put a system in place? they all keep shouting 'underfunding'
When will professors start actually contributing to the economy? all the prof dr engineers in the universities should develop something!
What does it take for the VC/Lecturers etc to have a meeting with companies so they can update the curriculum to have real life impact when student leave uni
You don't really need money for these!!! its common sense. |

10/03/2011 The Minister of Finance, Mr. Olusegun Aganga, on Tuesday, said that the country was now generating 3,800 megawatts of electricity.
Aganga, while speaking to journalists shortly after the meeting of the Presidential Action Committee on Power, said that the 3,800MW, which was the highest the country had generated in recent years, was achieved on Monday.
He said that; currently, the country did not have the capacity to generate 4,000MW, adding that within the next few months, Nigerians would see a tremendous improvement in the nation’s power sector.
Aganga briefed journalists in company with the Special Adviser to the President on Power, Prof. Barth Nnaji; the Director-General, Bureau of Public Enterprises, Ms. Bolanle Onagoruwa; and representatives of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation.
The minister admitted that funding was a critical factor hampering progress in the power sector, but added that the Federal Government was seriously searching for private investors, who would revive the sector.
He said, “The 3,800MW has been the highest peak for years and that was achieved on Monday. So, we are making progress. One of the areas, which the committee has recommended, is that we want to start getting feedback from the distribution agency.” Jonathan said 4000, Finance minister in presence of presidential adviser says 3800mw http://www.punchng.com/Articl.aspx?theartic=Art201103093494646e don happen! i hope bumbling johnny will not sack mr goldman |

Pharoh: In life brother you pick the battles you can to win and which you know that you have the strongest advantage, it is called strategy. Winning an election involves many strategic moves and if going to a debate does not serve you well then avoid it and find better alternatives to win the election. The president is a person that is reasonable enough to make choices which he deems fit are beneficial to him and it is not by force to reinforce your popularity by going into a debate. There are countless ways to kill a rat and it is your choice to pick what kind of trap or tools you need to do that and so to you it is only in debate that you can show your leadership credentials?.
About bias well it might exist but i have not investigated it alot right now to make a conclusion but one thing i know is that. The opposition candidates has heated up the polity and shifted the advantage towards their division by shifting the direction of the questions towards their main arguments. In a very reasonable debate i don't think those questions are needed in a debate and that is one of the reason goodluck is not interested in participating in the debate. No a debate is certainly not the only way to exhibit your leadership credentials but it will certainly help most especially if you have in your one year of leadership avoided by hook or crook any national interview to defend or promote your policies if at all you have any. I mean in moving with the times, open a facebook account and encourage 'followers' to only 'like' your comments, is it really out of place to encourage him to agree to a debate so his views can have a wider audience and actually get robust assessment of his policies? What questions? has the questions been set already? were they set in collaboration with the opposition parties? I really wonder why you think 'those' questions are not unnecessary in a debate, if questions about security and the economy are not needed then pray tell what sort of questions would he prefer? How many kilometres they each walked to school whilst growing up? So the reason why Johnny is not interested in a debate is to avoid answering questions about boko haram, incessant killings in Jos even with JTF deployed and the rapid depletion of the kitty in less than 4 years? |
Politics › Re: Jonathan May Shun Presidential Debate by DisGuy: 10:26pm On Mar 09, 2011 |
Pharoh: My point is in those countries you do not normally have more than four parties that presents a candidate for the presidential election. What makes you to think that the other candidate are not better than those invited?. Do you think that if you were in ACN and you want to contest for the presidency that you would be given the chance?. Those other parties are the best way for you to contest and in the spirit of fair play why should the invitation not be extended to you?. How would the Nigerian people know that you have a better offer or in your conclusion the invited candidates are the best among the contestants.
Let me ask you, what do you think is the criteria they used in sidelining the other candidates? are we looking for those that has a chance of winning the election or those who has better programs to fix the country?.
About your comment concerning me sounding reasonable, trust me i have called names and abused a lot and it does not do anything to me one bit. I don't care what the other person thinks about me, i am here to give my own perspective to issues and everyone is entitled to their own opinion that should be respected. If having a divergent opinion means i am not reasonable then it is the problem of the person thinking so and not me because what i care is my own argument which has been well thought out by me.
Trust me if someone like pat utomi, donald duke or fashola is running, i will be not be here talking about goodluck so i have my own reason why i fall in line with him most times because of the other candidates. Actually there were more than five candidate of different parties in the last in election in US, more than 12 in France's last election, more than Six parties with good representation in the UK. again it is the prerogative of the organisers to invite who they want or perhaps who their viewers/sponsors want, maybe the conducted a poll and choose accordingly. Why is the person invited worried about those that are not invited most especially when they are not in alliance with the other parties, why will the republican party worry about the non invitation of the green party? I don't know the criteria but geopolitical representation and past election results wont be a bad guess, do you in anyway think the organisers are against Jonathan? |

Pharoh: So what is the fuse if he decides to exclude himself from the debate or is the right to exclude someone from a debate vested only on the organizers?.
He is does not want to be a part of a debate that deselects candidates without any clear mechanism for doing that which is even not democratic.
I am with goodluck on this one and trust me i would love to see a debate but not with this bias and sentiments flying all around the place. the fuss is that he is in a stronger position as the current president, he is being challenged isnt this his opportunity to reinforce his popularity and show his leadership credential? Are Nairalanders organising the debate or are you accusing the organisers of bias? |
Politics › Re: Jonathan May Shun Presidential Debate by DisGuy: 8:31pm On Mar 09, 2011 |
Pharoh: God bless you and hope goodluck haters will reason for the first time and leave sentiments aside, this is a valid objection to this debate and it should be enough reason not to participate.
Please brother sorry to bother you but how many presidential candidates do they have in civilized countries?
Is it possible to sideline any presidential candidate in those civilized country no matter how small their party is? I don't know why you are dragging yourself in the mud over this GEJ issue, you sound like a fairly reasonable dude but defending johnny with all your might is make that assessment void!
