Politics › Re: Report Here On National Assembly Elections: 2nd April, 2011 by DisGuy: 7:01am On Apr 01, 2011 |
i cant read what recomme wrote, too condensed! danjohn: Folks this election is going to be interesting. The reason why is because the result of the national assembly election will not be a reflection of the result in the Presidential election. In the SW, SS, and SE ACN will perform better in the national assembly election than they will in the Presidential election. Also, PDP, ACN, and ANPP will perform better in the NW, NC, and NE in the National Assembly election than they will in the Presidential. Since Buhari is not on the ballot in this election, the CPC may experience a set back in this April 2nd election because many of their candidates have little name recognition and are underfunded. They are relying on Buhari's coat tails but he is not on the ballot this Saturday. Jonathan was very strategic in making sure that the election was not on the same day. If it was on the same day, people in the NW, and NE would vote Buhari from top to bottom.
This election will test whether the people of the NW and NE have adopted CPC as their party or if it is only Buhari they want. I am saying this so that folks can control their expectations. After Saturday's elections, many people may want to day that the Presidential election will be between PDP and ACN. However, the dynamics of the Presidential elections will be much different from this one. So my message to the major players are as follows:
ACN: Do not get too excited when the results come in. Ribadu will not perform as well on April 9th. PDP: The same goes to you too, although SW will be better on April 9th than it will be on April 2nd. CPC: Do not dwell on Saturday's results. April 9th is when CPC's electoral strength will be truly tested. I thought INEC is not displaying names just party logos ? I thik the opposition will definitely have a higher percentage in the NA this time around |

mikeapollo: There is something missing here, I am yet to see any analysis/opinion on what happens after successfully completing your studies in Europe/US/Canada with good grades. Do people make good grades in Undergraduate, Postgraduate or PhD and still go about without jobs for months, years and ages after securing a permit, no matter how difficult it could be to get one? yes most especially now there is a recession, though most with have to make do with other job sectors or make do with any job usually unskilled or 'below' their qualification/experience not as worse as it was back in the early 2000s, very competitive esp in Europe ps there's more emphasis on your experience/competency than your grade |

FibbA: You sound funny, you probably don't know what others young adults are going through in their homes.
It's better to get a few kids you can take care of till they are capable of living on their own. The real wahala really starts from 'many children are blessing from God' mentality, therefore no family planing. Sooner or latter, the kids starts suffering for notting. If you find your self in such situation, and you want to do things in your own way, try and get a house, your parents will even appreciate your sence of maturity. If not, sharraaap and play by the rules. Don't complicate things for you parents because you feel you've grown up. I'm not a mean father though, but that's ' d tru tori'. to me if a man/woman has to physically assault his/her grown up child as a form of discipline then perhaps he has not done a good job bringing the kid up in the first place! there are many grown up kids that know the right thing depending on how they are brought up if they go out they dont need to be told what time to get back in, and if they do isnt it better to have actually disapprove or verbally warn her/him than to punch her lights out before getting an explanation, hiding grown up kids inside their bedroom all in the name of protection might actually affect them, some will be misfit, some wont be able to deal with issues themselves without going back home to daddy and mummy |

There is a clear different between criticizing and abusing someone please look up the dictionary if you don't know the difference. Please how does me calling for a ban to all discussions pertaining to the election translate to goodluck restricting internet discussion?. Please tone down on your conclusions and interpretations, it doesn't speak well of you. nta is govt owned everything stop at Jonathan's desk, the police restricting people from taking phones and cameras to election centre all falls back on jonathan, the insecurity you think is a petty issue all fall back on Jonathan! when your president claim we are generating 4000mw and his minister say we are generating 3800mw is lying and calling him an incompetent liar is in well in order! heading for disaster, guess who should tone down |

Dressed in shorts, snow is clearly a new experience for these South African farmers.
But this trip to Georgia is about more than seeing a different climate. Johan Swart has come with his wife and his parents to see if the former Soviet republic could one day become his new home.
He says the policies of the South African government are making it increasingly difficult to stay in the country where he was born.
"The government can come to you, and tell you, this is what we are willing to pay for your farm and you have to sell," he explained. "If the government doesn't recognise the value you put on the farm, wants to pay you maybe a half of that, and you have to sell, what security do you have?" Skills lost
At the end of apartheid in South Africa the majority of the land was owned by the white community, who made up less than 10% of the population. Now, with land reforms under way, some farmers are looking for opportunities elsewhere.
So far, 90 white South African farmers have visited Georgia to look at land for sale.
In the former Soviet Union, Georgian farms were mostly state-run, so many Georgian farmers lost their traditional skills.
According to government spokesman Nikoloz Avaliani, these South African farmers will help to turn things round.
"South African farmers are some of the best farmers in the world. They have good experience and we would like to see such farms in Georgia. There is a lot of potential here." |

Pharoh: Please give both of them until the end of this month and unban them, they need to be here from april to support thier candidates. If anyone goes back to the old ways then ban for an indefinite period but there should be warning before banning people i think.
Back to topic.
It will always come back to hurt this site and we predicted it, i think it might even get worst. It is very sad these days that it has become fashionable to call the president of a country, clueless, not-so-smart person and . Anybody that supports goodluck is abused without mercy and because the moderators are anti goodluck they think it is the right thing. No person should abuse anyone here and that should have been the rule else there won't be sanity here.
Please state the rule now, there should be no abuse else the next stage now will be insults and fighting. The election will come soon and i see this getting worst,we honestly do not see what lies ahead of us. There are very dangerous times ahead and it would have been good if this site was neutral and try to bring sanity to the waring parties
Let the insults to the president, parties, presidential candidates and their fans stop now for good else we are heading for a disaster soon. during the time of obasanjo, Yaradua when most threads were basically anti-govt or anti northerner, i don't see people complaining about criticizing the president? Now your southern brother with a phd wants to ban critical jingles and restrict internet discussion jorrrrr incompetency no get part two |

What's the problem with naija official always trying to make a player look bad, Nigeria has up to 80 players playing high level football and several others playing in Nigeria
why make an issue out of nothing when you purposely invite a player that doesn't want to play for you na by force? there are many players begging to be used in the Nigerian premier league why make others look bad when they refuse or are they just trying to spend money under the guise they are going to greet one player abroad
not all players want to play national football especially if the country cant organise an egg race talk less of an invincible obama cup |

for Bleep sake read the article, same thing was posted on punch website and there is nothing linking it to the government!!! it was a manager giving his recommendation!! The Federal Government will spend N912bn to procure 200 new locomotives required by the Nigerian Railway Corporation to meet current demand for its services nationwide.
The 25 new locos just delivered to the corporation by the General Electric of the United States cost the government N114bn.
Going by this calculation, one locomotive costs N4.56bn even though experts put the average cost at about N5bn.
The Lagos Railway District Manager, Mr. John Dottie, said train operations were gradually picking up following the delivery of the new engines. He, however, noted that at least 200 sound locomotives would be required to meet the country’s demand.
He told our correspondent on Tuesday that a larger number of the locos would be devoted to mass transit trains, while the others would cater for freight trains.
Specifically, he said that while about 60 per cent of the engines would be dedicated to the mass transit trains in Lagos, Kano, Enugu and three other states; the other 40 per cent would be reserved for the needs in the freight service.
With the introduction of the 25 new engines, which were inaugurated less than two weeks ago, Dottie said, “Passenger number is increasing by the day. In fact, the trains are still congested. But the NRC management is doing something to improve the situation. We are refurbishing old coaches to accommodate more trains.”
The corporation, according to him, currently moves between 16,000 and 20,000 passengers everyday in the Lagos district alone.
He said the NRC had the capacity to carry 50,000 passengers everyday if it had enough locomotives and other rolling stock for the operation.
“With sound locos and more coaches, we can run more trains. And the people will have stress free rides,” Dottie said.
The RDM also hinted of plans to increase the frequency of the Lagos trains and run a train every hour at the end of this month.
He said a deliberate policy of consistent investment in the nation’s railways was necessary to keep the system going.
For instance, he recommended the purchase of 25 new locomotives with other rolling stock on an annual basis to keep pace with railway development in other countries. cant pull the wool over our eyes!! the reporter basically did some little calculation and put govt stamp on it |
