I am most impressed by Mansur Muhtar. he is not always given adequate recognition for his role in helping Nigeria 'pay off' her debt to the Paris club. This article goes along way to demystify the myth behind the 'inimitable' prowess of Iweala.
the people in the know recognize him and you have to remember the media is largely southern owned

people like soludo that played minor roles will be hugging the headline with the Paris debt, mr tap dallar inflation
The most striking thing to me about that article is how Yar'Adua appointed his cousins, a bunch of random other incompetent cronies to prominent positions.

How does one expect to run a country like that. . . ?
who is his cousin?

like Master like Slavve Jonathan odeskwu appointed Murtala Yaradua based on what ?

Josehine Tapgun ex-governors sister
Ms Aninih, Crook's ex-wife

Compared to Jonathan i still think yaradua had more competent people in govt, jonathan basically surrounded himself with dumber people than himself

Deziani Allison-Madueke, the then Minister of Mines and Steel Development, was described as "ineffectual" and said to have done "a poor job in her last Ministerial position as Transportation and Aviation Minister". The Americans remembered her more for having wept in public at the state of disrepair of the Lagos-Ore Expressway while serving as Minister of Transportation. After several interactions with Bagudu Hirse
weeping in public wasnt her only achievement, as the minister of/for steel and mining she got a Nigerian based abroad to design jeweleries from our gemstones to rake in 'foreign exchange' (she played the role of the marketer, see her neckline)whilst the ajaokuta steel plant and others rot away

Gej's campaign has been devoid of the name calling and mudslinging that has characterized the campaign of his opponents right from the infamous days of Atiku to the present gang of finger pointers.
Right from the outset, Gej had pointed the direction he's campaign would go when he said 'I have no enemies to fight'. Omeri was way out of line to have tampered with the one thing that had stood Gej's campaign out from the whole bunch - Decorum and therefor deserved to go. credit to Gej, he's kicked him out. The man deserves praise and nothing less, but trust NL's online mongrels to start yapping about what he didnt do instead of appreciating what he's done.

Lagos to Ibadan= 6-7 hours o serious, are the journalist sure the train operated today is not the cargo train instead of the passenger one
some days ago they were celebrating lagos - ilorin now they've diverted to Ibadan  undecided

I will love to ride on it if its safe, no thugs hopping on in the villages and less noisy, they should double glaze the entire coach  grin

234next better provide a video

OAM4J:
There is nothing wrong with it, am just saying we would have celebrated something much  better if only Yaradua had not cancelled the railways contract obj had with the Chinese in 2006/7

There are some progress not worth celebrating, especially when you realize you could have done/achieve something better within the same period.

BTW, this is nothing new; it is only a reactivation/glorification of what we had in the 80s.
that should be ' we could have' cos we dont know the contract signed, it says upgrade of the national rail corporation over a 25year period
it didnt give time-line for the lagos-kano line and no cost, just involves us handing over some oil acres and $x billion dollars in loans

this is a contnuation of the contract but in sections as the rest were not budgeted for properly

no just one of the thousands of people appointed by incompetent jonathan collecting salary sharing excess crude oil going home
apparently the guy is still running his private business full time just collecting on behalf of the yaradua family

there are many of them senior adiver, special assistant, senior special assistant collecting money from this mugu so they dont disturb him and his wife

That dude John Odey is one of the most useless\incompetent minister Nigeria has ever had!

The ministry of women affairs is actually under Madam Dame Umblerra Jonathan

I have never seen Murtala Yar'adua, just a token appointment by an incompetent president Jonathan

Mr Jonathan told the new ministers that he will meet all of them in two week’s time when they will agree on “ministerial milestones and targets” which they will sign and religiously follow.
milestones?

all these just over a year just under a year excuse is just a smokescreen, you will know a performer when you see one!

Everyone knows Sanusi's Pedigree just under a year of being CBN governor

Fashola's government going forward could be assessed with just one year in government

This johnie is no fresh air, just fresh excuse of an incompetent bobbling politician!

There's just nothing competent about the guy, i doubt he'll get a job managing a private zoo

NYSC › Re: American-born And Raised Nigerians Who Want To Do NYSC by DisGuy: 3:55am On Mar 22, 2011
You'd have a job (assignment) if you havent arranged one yourself and since you want to give back by teaching NYSC is the best place for that as over 60% of their postings are to school or so local government offices

On a plus side i can also speak Yoruba however if you heard me you'd probably laugh b'cos my British accent interferes so it sounds very dodgy, nonetheless i really want to do this NYSC, i would like to teach little kids in 9ja a way of giving back to the community , come on people its up to us the future generation to bring Nigeria back up , i think Nigeria has a lot of potential but a lot of us are giving up on it and settling for the west which is a great shame
so says someone who's never lived in nigeria that didnt have to worry about unexpected crazy health bills, cultism and extreme levels unemployment and govt apathy

sometimes i just dont know who to blame, the woman that cant stand up on her feet to say she is not a punchbag/animal or the mothers that dont teach their kids that they are human

funny thing is you see women also supporting this 'culture' i mean since its okay for dad to beat her at over 20+ she wont see anything wrong when her husband start his routine and the pastors will joyfully join in ask her to be patient and coming for daily prayer sessions to shame the devil

Explaining the reason for the Contact Centre, Emmanuel Ikazoboh said it is meant to serve as the first point of contact for the investing public and other stakeholders with the NSE.
“The staff members manning the Centre are expected to receive enquiries, complaints or suggestions from the investing public as well as other stakeholders. People are expected to phone between 7.45 am and 6.00 pm Monday to Friday on 07002255673 and make their enquiries, lodge complaints or suggestions,” he said.

Ikazoboh added that to derive maximum benefit from the Centre, callers are free to use any of the three major Nigerian languages of Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba, in addition to English Language.
“The market, we know is information drive, hence nothing would be spared in our desire to further bridge the information gap between us and investors on our Exchange,” he declared.

you guys are pathetic, Dangote is Teflon, your watery business man accuse him of everything under the sun when they can compete

if its not poision it is demarketing, or monopoly,

with all the phds and foreign degrees these competitors claim to have even with their own people in power you keep accusing Dangote cos you cant match him

Dangote and Jimoh are not in the same league!

this is political stunt, otedola has pulled it with assassination accusation, i think Adenuga has done the same thing too

NOT ONLY IS IT POSSIBLE, it is actually ACCEPTABLE by law and customs, in actual fact anyone that says anything against it is seen as an enemy of progress or an undisciplined person EVEN THOUGH THERE ARE OTHER WAYS TO SHOW YOUR DISAPPROVAL

taking away beating or physical abuse form of discipline from a Nigerian man is taking away his manhood  grin

and if we want to push it further,, striking your wife will solicit almost the same response  tongue

there are instances where a judge will actually dissolve a marriage due to physical violence without ordering for the arrest of the husband  undecided

Pharoh:
Guess good luck haters has not seen this or they are not able to give any useful comment?.
Inane pillock!

hercules07:
I am aware that a Microwave network is being built for the NRC (I consider the plan a waste of money), they need to make sure that peeps who work in Lagos can come from Ibadan and Abeokuta, that should be the first consideration, if they can do that, they will make so much money that they will be able to expand the network, the consumers are there, they just need to be smart.
I think their main aim was/is freight first/mainly to reduce trucks on highways and move cargos inland

Kobojunkie:
I still think Yar adua made a huge mistake by cancelling/modifying the original project in the way he did --  We could have been celebrating world-class rail in some cities by now if he had not done what he did.
to an extent i agree but we dont actually know the plan as signed by obj, it wasnt detailed just a promised forr a train network  built at once instead of piecemal with a loan which repayment plan wasnt comprehensive, just look at parnacuss comment, we probably would have had the same issue, un-ending rail work

Business › Start-up: Starting A Community Cinema Hall In Nigeria by DisGuy(op): 12:02am On Mar 14, 2011
Following on from: Starting an Hot air Balloon Business in Nigeria

I wonder what it would be like starting up a community cinema/hall business located in upcoming state capitals or under served areas of major cities in Nigeria, and or located close to Universities campus or hostels

The Cinemas will be operated with standard readily available projectors capable of producing brilliant pictures for small light controlled rooms with a capacity of 80-100 seats; operating 4days-Thursday,Friday,Saturday and Sunday; 4 films a day except environmental Saturdays

The building will mainly be an abandoned building or under-used hall with high ceilings, to be renovated and tastefully refurbished for a two screen style cinema.

The main hall space will be available for adverts, small eatery operators will be able to rent space for snacks/drinks or it can be don't in-house, whichever will bring in the money

The films erm I think will mainly be 50% second run already available on DVD but very popular, 30% independent films from English speaking countries, 10% first run, 10%+ Nigerian depending on how friendly movies makers are
to sharing profits.

Main Selling points

Small friendly environment but not tacky
Small upcoming underserved towns or areas in cities
4Days operating days
50% of employees are student working part-time mostly weekends
A wide variety of films
minimum/no competition outside the big cities
Cheap tickets reflecting the host environment
Revenue from adverts before and After films

So people what do you think?? Sink or Swim
