this my country keeps embarrassing me jare

“Coach Emma Osigwe and other coaches are still doing their work but will have to be supervised by Chukwu. “Management has equally approved the appointment of a Dutch technical adviser for the club. His contract is for 18 months, he is to expose the club to international market, Heartland want to play football as well as expose itself to benefits accruable to a professional club.
Why not just employ a professional Business Development Manager with international exposure that is not related to the uncle, cousin, brother of oga and run the club like a professional club

He said that there are 22 airports managed by his agency but lamented that only two of them were economically viable while the rest are in poor state and funded by the revenue generated from the two functional airports.

"When I look at the balance sheet, perhaps, only two airports can sustain themselves," Mr Aisegbogun said.

"We have to re-inject funds into the airports or else, they will die over time."

Developed economies are recovering from a catastrophic recession, i doubt investing in a country just sorting out its own banks is the priority now, we are also pumping valuable money into banks that have taken silly risks like lending out monies to gamblers in a highly compromised stock market

yes he gets credits for redefining the careers of bankers and making cash tellers feel over important

Hey Folks, Nice thread,

We need to get somethings clear here:
Soludo was a CBN governor, Aganga is a Minster of Finance,
To hold Soludo soley accountable for the mismanagment of shareholders money is pathetic, (What happened to SEC, NSE etc, (the rot was widespread)
During Soludo's era economic growth was unprecedented, GDP & FDI grow in GP, there were jobs,
It's early to judge Aganga but, with d budget he presented, shocked , i'm worried!!!
actually economic growth of all oil producing countries during that time was unprecedented, even my grandma could have taken credit for it wink

when theres a boom that when oversight should be at its topmost, but mr Soludo was enjoying the daily trips to London aboard private jets owned by dodgy bankers, booking private tailoring service from Saville row to his hotel room

You brave soul, you want to get into LBS with an HND and no extra-ordinary work experience? those guys are not smiling

To be honest, investment banking is fiercely competitive, vacancies are scarce and not widely advertised
So you get loads of finance student with even masters battling it out without success, I don't think its just because of
CFA qualifications after all there are many people in that sector without the qualification but I guess it helps but a masters and related work experience will be more useful to get a foot in the door

Try other good business schools and continue networking

good luck

In my opinion, degree and/or postgraduate = getting a job
then CFA,ACCA/ICAN,ACA = progression in the job

but i guess in this environment and particularly with the current situation everything combined will be need just to get a desired job- God help us

Interesting, so does it mean Nigerians can also travel to Kenya without a visa?

Would they be required to show some Allowance on arrival?

I think they should make it cashless if possible so those goons at the airport don't start playing tricks of no change perhaps Kenyan Airways or any other airline should add the visa fees to their ticket price then remit it to the FG

Politics › Re: Public Debate: I’ve No Time For Soludo – Aganga by DisGuy: 3:02pm On Feb 01, 2011
Ibime:
@ Dis Guy,

Soludo attracted a lot of FDI into Nigeria simply by limiting risk of bank failure. At consolidation, FDI was around $1 billion per annum, but after consolidation, it immediately shot up by 100% compounded annually as Foreigners and Nigerians abroad brought hot money flows in Nigeria to profit from interest rate arbitrage, hinged on a constant Naira-dollar exchange rate. However, this FDI increase which was built on the perception of the infallibility of the banks, was also burst in 2009 when it became clear that these banks were not as safe as first thought due to massive corruption.

Soludo thus did great things in the sector, but failure to regulate undid a lot (but not all) of his work. In that sense, I see Soludo as the Nigerian version of Greenspan, and funny enough, Soludo sees himself as the Nigerian Greenspan as he identified himself with, and empathised with Greenspan in his last riposte to Aganga.

From an economic standpoint, Soludo did great things, but he did not align his knowledge with moral integrity.
Thank you, I have never criticised Soludo of anything but HIS FAILURE to regulate the banks properly and perhaps his closeness to their CEOs

so all these talk of expansion into other countries without conquering its own environment first is flashy in my opinion

calyx, i'm not a bigot thank you very much

Soludo didn't do the basic that's my point and the basics is to regulate the banks before the obscene marketing he lead,

its easy to be called an expert during a boom

Ok, Do you really believe that under this Sanusi, that UBA would have expanded to Zambia and GTB in Ghana among other places? Can i then accuse Sanusi of 'turning a blind eye' to expansion and thereby 'sabotaging' Nigeria's economic gains by denying us of some foreign investments and 'frustrating' international business visibility?[/quote]business dont expand just because its fashionable, and honestly do you really think all tehse banks investing in other countries are gaining anything apart from the 'international' tag, some banks already closed their operations in West Africa and their operations in UK is just for show!

I really don't get your point about banks having a branch in Gambia or Uganda being some sort of 'foreign investment'

He had said it over and and over and over again even after his regime in CBN. The Banks were absolutely safe in his CBN. Was there a problem? Yes! Bad loans. Was CBN willing, ready and capable of containing the problem? Yes and that was already in progress but quiet. The Banks were not going to fail. The only thing that was different was STYLE.

While Sanusi took printed money and took over the banks thus sacking their heads, Soludo was giving the banks, financial support via the background pending when they are up on their own. I also know that recapitalization of banks were being worked out as a result of some of the issues. This would ultimately have led to the removal of some of the bank heads. Would Cecilia have gone to prison? That I cant tell but I dont think Soludo's priority at the time was sending people to prison.

The thing that is being missed between Soludo and Sanusi is that while the former was bound to CREATE, DEVELOP and ATTAIN new heights in the financial markets, even with the attendant risks, the latter threads very carefully, content with just doing the basics and avoiding controversies
well the basics comes first doesn't it? creating and developing an environment where bank chiefs rob investors blind is not an achievement, some will rather avoid that controversy than claim it as  new heights!! Why will you be supporting people that steal billions to buy properties and private jets without collateral only to deal with them later, wont you remove the theif before assisting the firm
