You people will always give excuses for everything. So london does not have scy scrapers because the british see it as tasteless, abi?. It's simple they don't have skyscrapers because london is not as commercial and as a financial city as new york.

Mind you we're comparing new York city(Manhattan,Brooklyn,Bronx,Queens,Harlem etc) with a London(state), but even at that New york is still far above London in almost any criteria you might wah=nt to use to judge.
so skyscrapers equates to financial city? you that's why its not good to go straight from nnewi village to Yankee, please make sure you pass Lagos first, make you sharp up tongue

Brooklyn=ghetto
Bronx=ghetto
Queens=ghetto
harlem=ghetto

Politics › Wanted! Fani Kayode's Mistress by DisGuy(op): 4:06am On Mar 25, 2009
Court declares Fani Kayodes aide wanted
Written by From Kayode Ekundayo, Lagos
Tuesday, 24 March 2009

An Abuja Chief Magistrate Court has ordered the arrest of one Miss Chioma Oluchi Anasoh, a former Special Assistant to ex-Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, over alleged criminal breach of trust and cheating.

The order was given last Friday by the court at Wuse Zone 11, Abuja.The Magistrate mandated all police officers nationwide to arrest Anasoh, 29 of 5 Frederick Chiluba Street, Asokoro, Abuja and bring her to the court to face charges “for obtaining the sum of $65,000 under false pretence.”

Her problem allegedly began with a petition filed against her by a businessman, Ifeanyi Okorie before the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Force CID, FCT Command, Abuja.

The petitioner alleged that the lady falsely obtained $65,000 from him sometime in February, 2007 to execute some contracts she got from the Ministry of Aviation using proxy companies without the knowledge of her boss with a vow to repay the same within three months with an additional 30 percent interest.

The petitioner was said to have given the money to Miss Anasoh as a result of the long standing business relationship existing between the two of them and because of her prominence in the Ministry of Aviation.

She was alleged to have failed to secure the contract and also failed to refund the said $65,000.

Okorie reportedly ran to the police after “the lady became elusive and evasive especially after the expiration of the appointment of Fani-Kayode as minister.

The petitioner also alleged that the lady had relocated from her residence in Abuja hence the need for a court intervention.

lol blackspade just proved New York is tall n glass with no character, London traditional Architecture with character

Afam what does having many millionaires have to do with tourism? na millionaires and skyscrapers tourist wan chop?
remember this is the travel section not business section so i guess we are taking about visitors not businessmen n office buildings

Blackspade, to get permit to build a skyscraper in London; you will have to prove that your tasteless tall building is not obstructing residents natural view (sunlight, windflows etc), not blocking peoples view of traditional listed buildings plus it has to be in character with other buildings around it.

Do people actually travel to see skyscrapers with adverts on them? Oh I forgot both of you are from village tongue

NYSC › Re: Help Please! Advice For Expatriate Going For Nysc by DisGuy: 3:33am On Mar 25, 2009
ell77:
There are alot of hypocrites on this forum. In my room out of 28 girls (lagos camp) about 5 left. 2 left on the first day and came back on the last day of camp. Make no mistake about it I was the only foreign student in this room so this is not a foreign phenomena in fact it is the ones who have family here 'who get leg pass'.

Those who did not leave completely also tipped guards to go for the day and come back in the evening.

Those who did not leave faked health problem.

As for the service year there are even more ways around that.

I lost about 1 stone and a half.

During my service year i was in an okada accident with a car.

I narrowly missed one chance/last chance (woteva its called).

These are not exagerrations they are fact.

I know plenty of people who did not do much of the NYSC and collected the certificate (foreign and home students alike).

I can't blame anyone for not wanting to do it. Look at the corpers that died during the year - just because they wanted to serve their country (I'm not even talking about the riots in Jos).

But if you ask me would i do it all again.

The answer, YES

The NYSC lacks alot - not paying on time, bad administration, not matching graduates to jobs that fit their profile, inadequate health care etc.

But in the year I grew.

There is a lot of jealousy towards foreign students - and i am not directing it to anyone on this forum but i don't see anything wrong with what she asked.

Is it any different from a Lagosian not wanting to go to Jos?

The fear of unknown coupled with rumours and stories is always very strong.

You showed her that Nigerians are not supportive of Nigerians in diaspora and so she won't want to come back.

If she can get someone to put her in a company all likelihood is she doesn't have to do NYSC at all. She can buy her certificate.

Nigerians living in Nigeria might think it is not their job to welcome back foreign students - but i saw how men were so welcoming of female foreign students and females so welcoming of male foreign students and not to their own gender.

I wonder why? perhaps they want a fiance visa??

Lets not deceive ourselves.
Totally agree with you!! many people laughing their head of at this expat but not questioning why foreign graduates and 'big men pikin' are mostly allowed to choose Lagos, Abuja or any state of their choice, they never questioned why some people are allowed to do only three weeks then come back after a year to collect their certificate!
there are many coppers 'serving' in London (doing part time jobs) looking to go back so they can collect their NYSC
certificate

London receives more international visitors than Nw york becos british visa is easier to get.
that's not exactly the reason, there are many countries in the world with 'easier' visas than the bristish visa, e.g Dubai
it probably has more to offer tourists than New York, it has a mixture of everything from rural to fast paced city life
several parks and original architecture remember New York is mostly glass and tall office buildings with no character
Career › Re: Upon Graduation by DisGuy: 2:36am On Mar 24, 2009
Jobs directly related to your degree

    * Clinical psychologist - uses psychology to reduce mental distress in overcoming psychological difficulties. The role involves developing evidence-based practice and conducting research.
    * Educational psychologist - uses psychology to identify and support children or young people who are experiencing problems within an educational setting, with the aim of enhancing their learning.
    * Forensic psychologist (prison and probation services) - uses psychology to assess and treat offenders.
    * Further education lecturer or Higher education lecturer - teaches psychology in colleges and higher education institutions, mainly to people over 16. Higher education lecturers also perform significant amounts of research in their specialist area.
    * Health psychologist - usually employed within the National Health Service (see NHS Careers), working to promote attitude and behaviour change in relation to health, often working on a specific behavioural area e.g. reducing drinking,
    * Occupational psychologist - applies psychology to solve organisational problems including recruitment, selection and assessment, training, work design and dealing with change.

Jobs where your degree would be useful

    * Careers adviser/personal adviser - works with young people or adults providing information, advice and guidance, either individually or through groupwork.
    * Counsellor - works with individuals, couples or small groups to help people problem solve and cope with difficulties or distressing incidents, e.g. rape counselling.
    * Human resources officer - advises on and implements policies relating to the use of human resources including employee planning, recruitment, training and welfare.
    * Psychotherapist - works with individuals or small groups to treat mental or physical disorders through a process of psychological treatment. Often a specialism of other roles such as social work, medicine, or clinical psychology.
    * Retail manager - responsible for the day-to-day management of a department or store: managing staff; implementing policies and procedures; and ensuring sales targets are met.

Although some of the jobs listed here might not be first jobs for many graduates, they are among the many realistic possibilities with your degree, provided you can demonstrate you have the attributes employers are looking for. Bear in mind that it’s not just your degree discipline that determines your options. Remember that many graduate vacancies don't specify particular degree disciplines, so don't restrict your thinking to the jobs listed here.

Options with your subject

the information above is from the UK, it might still be applicable to you wink

Thanks Lawyer cool

QUESTION: What if my unique names are not chosen, what happens?

ANSWER: You have to have to start the whole Process again and pay new fees to the CAC for the search of a new name to be provided by you again. The CAC can reject your names a million times and a million times you pay to conduct a name search again and another extra 2 weeks to get the name out. It could be very frustrating, so pick unique names to save time and money
Can the CAC be requested to provide proof why some unique names are not chosen,
or they just have the almighty right to reject name; meaning they'll keep earning until someone
grease their palms-maybe some names are unregistered but they just feel like earning some dough

Secondly, is the name search slow because they are manually trawling through paper files all over the 36 states
or their response is directly proportional to the amount of 'extra cash' you pay the searchers?

Your Skills

Psychology degrees develop many of the transferable skills which all graduate employers require, for example: communication; numeracy; information technology; independent learning; and the ability to work in teams.

Psychology courses accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS) contain substantial teaching on statistics and research methodology, as well as scientific methods. Because of these areas of study, psychology students are able to understand and manipulate both quantitative and qualitative data, use computers and problem solve effectively. Consequently, psychology graduates are well placed to move into research or numeracy-based careers such as market research, academia and accounting. Psychology students also develop many of the skills of humanities graduates, such as critical thinking and essay writing.

Only a small proportion of psychology undergraduates progress to be chartered psychologists. If you want to move into this area of work, it is vital to undertake as much work experience as possible whilst on your undergraduate degree. Placements in clinical psychology can be notoriously difficult to access but any relevant paid or voluntary work can be beneficial, e.g. working with children or adults with learning difficulties; mentoring; befriending; working in care homes or with those who are mentally distressed.

Consider the skills developed on your course as well as through your other activities, such as paid work, volunteering, family responsibilities, sport, membership of societies, leadership roles, etc. Think about how these can be used as evidence of your skills and personal attributes. Then you can start to market and sell who you really are, identify what you may be lacking and consider how to improve your profile. Take a look at applications, CVs and interviews for some useful tips.

@Redman44

Thanks for you comments, this projects being materialized for is more important than going to youtube and if the government can stop Using Julius Berger to build crap in Nigeria at such a high cost , then that will help. There are very Good companies in Dubai that will make this projects  a reality but if this contracts are given to Julius berger , they will look like any other cheap buildings in Nigeria like our international airport in Abuja.
  It is great to have this ideas but make we try invest in job creations and that will befit the common man more. When this projects are done , it is only the senators and politicians that will be using them for their so call retreat which they just finish one in Minna where all the 88 senators went home with about 4 million naira for 2 days.

Kwara  keep it up
you can create more jobs by using Nigerian/Kwaran construction companies instead of dubai companies
but then again there's creativity n competence to content with
