Politics › Re: Haliburton Bribe Takers List by DisGuy: 2:49pm On Apr 11, 2009
KunleOshob:
The source of this story is very unreliable, it is a soft sell and little known newspaper called "NEXT". I am quite certain they are just making up this story based on speculation to sell their rubbish paper. The real bribe takers are yet to be named.

PS: is it possible the three different rulers who reigned years apart collected bribes for the same contract huh
erm you dont need to be a genius to know who and who will be involved, why do you think they are not crying foul or suing the paper and NEXT is in the shops already
what makes you think the presidents wont know anything about huge contracts like that

the contract was ongoing, its started in 1994 or thereabouts

the bobo's head was shining and the 'driver's specs were reflecting too' like you put torch light next to them!

juts wondering why didnt you do any actual driving ad? they were all stationary

the ads were crisp n clean, simple too cool

htinez:
I don't think it's a good idea to replace Soludo so soon. In the interest of the nation, it'll be a better decision if he's granted a second term. His 1st tenure was grandly a success, he has saved millions of Nigerians their jobs with his recapitalization of the banks, the revaluation of the naira should also be executed.

So far so good, his policies have withstood the test of time. If you compare him our past CBN governors he outstandingly outclassed them all in policies implemented. Thank God he came before this financial crisis befell us else most of us working in the financial sector & downstream petroleum sectors would be on the streets now.

The leaders should rethink this issue. smiley
how apart from recapitalisation what else really?
a couple of branches abroad, more awful customer services, our network is down
banks are actually allowed to charge customers if they go to another branch of the same bank!
'our network is down all the time', massive congestion att he banks, irregular year ends, not a single bank has ever been fined
under this dude, he is acting like an employee of these banks damn too close to the CEOs
sometimes you dont know what he is really doing, if as a professional some mallam is giving you aggro playing politics you quit
and tell the whole world what happened instead of tanishing your image acting like you cant get a proper job outside

his policies are only 2-3 years old not way to judge just yet

the best thing is for soludo to tell the country what his future plans are concerning banking in nigeria so we know
to keep him or bring in new blood

Politics › Re: Nigeria Should Have And Can Afford A Qualified Igbo President: by DisGuy: 1:10am On Apr 11, 2009
couldnt get more irritating really,

Strength10:
We have spent a lot of time debating why nigeria cannot afford an Igbo president in this forum, thanks to some jerk called billymuse. That thread revealed the hatred and tribalistic sentiment that still flows in the Veins of Nigerians. But the debate should not be about tribe but ability. So the question is: Why should Nigeria have or Afford an igbo President.
1) IGBOS have shown tremendous Excellence in thier Leadership ability and Reforms.E.g Ikonjo-Iweala, Soludo, Ezekwesili, Zik,
2) IGBOS know how to grow and expand from the little they have. Look at Igbos after the civil war when they were all handed 20 and were the poorest in Nigeria and now and you can understand why they call themselves Ndigbo. Likewise, they can utilize the things nigeria have to make Nigeria the greatest.
3) IGBOS are motivated and will strive to achieve the best. This what we need in Nigeria. We need leaders who are ready to take nigeria into the 21st Century with Drive and ambition.
4) IGBOS are the most de-tribalized. this is evidenced by thier ability to live amongst muslims, hausas, yorubas and all other tribes in nigeria in Peace. They welcome others easily and are ready to develop whereever they are even if not in Igboland. That is what a true Nigerian should be.
5) IGBOS have not had power since the War. But since then, Nigeria has had oil boom, leadership from Hausa and Yoruba but with only subtle development and Advancement of Nigeria in a whole. If others have tried and have not produced any meaningful results, it is time to allow people aho have a history of excellence the chance to do what they are best in Doing. The underdevelopment of Nigeria today can never be blamed on the Igbos because they have never had a chance to develop it.
Nigeria may never attain its potential until it elects a True Nationalistic iGBOMAN.
6) IGBOS are intrinsically Intelligent. With this quality, comes wise and smart decisions that will elevate the whole country because such a president will surround himself with eqaully smart people regardless of tribe.
7) IGBOS are natural Democrats. This is evidenced by thier traditions and history. The colonial masters had difficulty in penetrating Igboland because of their Ancient democracy-the Umunna's. Everybody gets to have a say in an igbo kindred and igbos have no king they revear. This will help the presidencys as no one will will pander to any leader or king to make decisions for the Nations.

I have more but i want to give others a chance to give thier own reasons. This thread is meant for healthy discussion and not for Tribal bashing.
with all these qualities why are they not contesting on a national level instead of this give us a chance campaign all over they place

who is stopping soludo, iweala, etc from coming out to contest?
i noticed how you didnt mention a single governor past or present

its about time people contest and stop blaming perceived tribalism!
i dont understand how people join parties that actively practise 'rotationing' and quota system then turn around to say
its unfair

unfaded:
so many idiots on NL,
RCCG is about the biggest church in the world, so whats the big deal if the church buy a jet.did they steal the money?
pastor Adeboye wouldn't buy a jet in his name,it would be in the name of the church,
the bigger an organasation grows the more complex their programs are, most nigerian banks are now buying jets
comfort and others should be careful the way they wag their mouths.
maybe because its a church, some normal people will think that's a bit iffy, but hey we are Nigerians right?
when did a church become an organisation we start comparing to banks undecided

everything is just wrong in this country, the abnormal becomes very normal!

not that he could use them anyway, he had to answer random questions

angel01:
Compulsory registration of sim cards is not enforced on pay-as-you -go sims in the UK. Instead some mobile service providers reward customers with a few pounds credit that will be sent to their address if they register their sim online.
NCC just wants to waste resources on this sim registration.
how is it a waste of resources? this should be standard practice by the operators

The entourage

Apart from the 200 secret service personnel who will follow Obama on his European tour, the president's entourage will also include representatives of the White House Military Office, the White House Transportation Agency, the White House Medical Unit, the Marine Corps Helicopter Squadron, the State Department Presidential Travel Support Service, the US Information Agency, the Immigration and Naturalisation Service and the Customs Service.

In addition, there will be staff from the White House kitchen ready to turn out a quick burger should the president suddenly feel peckish.

Michelle Obama will have eight of her own staff, including a secretary, a press officer and bodyguards. And Obama's personal aide Reggie Love - called by the president "the kid brother I never had" - will be at hand to provide pens, Nicorette gum, throat lozenges, tea or even aspirins

Foreign Affairs › Obama And His 500 Crew by DisGuy(op): 7:49pm On Apr 05, 2009
Obama will fly into London for his first visit to the UK as president of the United States on Tuesday to take part in the G20 summit in the capital's Docklands area. He will not be travelling light.

More than 500 officials and staff will accompany the president on his tour this week - along with a mass of high-tech security equipment, including the $300,000 presidential limousine, known as The Beast. Fitted with night-vision camera, reinforced steel plating, tear- gas cannon and oxygen tanks, the vehicle is the ultimate in heavy armoured transport.

US security teams have already carried out three visits to prepare for Obama's first official visit to Britain. The first was a "site survey", the second a "pre-advance visit" which was carried out to pick sites that the president would visit. Finally there was the "advance trip", which took place last week. Its purpose was to set up equipment, sweep venues for electronic bugs, test food for poison and measure air quality for bacteria.

That still does not make it right.Every country is being affected by this recession whether they have a big or small economy.Ghana,Ethiopia,Nigeria, etc could have been invited to voice their opinions.
their opinions on what exactly? If they have valid opinions they would have implemented it to make their country
more influential globally or atleast in their region. plus too many cooks spoil the broth anyway, africa is being represented by NEPAD and South Africa- $100b was pledged to the poorest countries and developing nations 'future markets'

A Buckingham Palace spokesman who asked not to be identified because of palace policy said he could not remember the last time the queen had displayed such public affection with a first lady or dignitary.

"It was a mutual and spontaneous display of affection," he said. "We don't issue instructions on not touching the queen."

hi
have read everyone's comment and agree with all.
having a baby in the uk without a residency has it's perils, but also it's gains.
have u got a place to stay?
on arriving in the uk u must register with a general practitioner who will then refer u to a hospital,
one thing i have found out in life is to go with one's intuition. i also know that u never know until u try.
also notice that no one has offered a hand of help. all is advice and no commitment.
i can hook u up. but u must not be dubious as this is usually the case with we nigers.

hmmm Politics is not ABC unfortunately performing in one stae and having no influence nationnwide; thats the problem with AC and Fashola

Bukola will win in a nationwide election, fashola wll win 98-2% in lagos and ogun

who do i choose? hard to tell

moneygurl:
i dont know who wins.
I might have said Saraki but, holes have started showing
like the farming program that saraki had with those Zimbabwe farmers is already having problems, banks say company is not making money, they are not paying loans, etc

And fashola is not running and might not win
farming is not abc, nigerian banks dont have patience for long term farming on this scale, plus what do you get when port operations are slow, machines are being imported,
not developed products markets etc etc
