That "Spartacus" movie was really a Thriller.

Apart from "Game Of Thrones" that came close to the high Standards that the Spartacus movie set when it came to the use of swords and their bloody sword fights, I still don't know why I find "Game Of Thrones" more interesting than "Spartacus" even though I love that Spartacus movie.

Spartacus had very good sword fights scenes but the storyline was poor. Mostly depended on our curiosity about life in the Roman Empire. Amphitheatres, orgiés and the likes.

It relied mostly on extreme gore and shocking sexual acts. By season 3,. the storyline had already been stretched too thin.

Game of Thrones was worth the hype when I eventually saw it. Good storyline, fights, and realistic gore. So you are right to think so.
