That's why we need technocrats, innovators in every sphere of our national life. Nigeria still have tremendous potentials to be a great and advanced nation. Huge opportunity abound it is just the ability to put it into right use. Nothing more nothing less. Knowing what it takes to build a prosperous nation. I say it is achievable, but it requires the right personels and perspectives. |
PVision2020:And I am not holding brief for any of the past government but placing all the blame on them is not right. It is high time things are done in a proper way. We cannot be running round in square circles. Time is running out for Nigeria in continuing with experiment. The other parts of the world are moving in a faster pace. Some days ago people were rejoicing concerning Air Peace bringing in planes that have been overused by Emirates airline. I was just shaking my head. We celebrate mediocre things while the rest of the world is advancing rapidly. |
PVision2020:In Nigeria, Africa’s largest economy, the current state of affairs, of a growing public debt profile is scary, particularly since 2015 when the Muhammadu Buhari administration came into power. According to the Debt Management Office (DMO), Nigeria’s total debt has increased by about 90% in almost three years from about N12.6 trillion in December 2015 to about N22.71 trillion as at March 2018. The DMO figure indicates that total public debt prior to the 2018 budget stood at about N21.17 trillion. With the N1.95 trillion budget deficit of the 2018 budget and the $475 million loan agreement recently signed with the French government, following the recent visit of the French President, Emmanuel Macron, total debt will stand at about N23.645 trillion with debt service likely to increase beyond the N2 trillion provision in the budget. Called from Guardian Newspaper https://www.google.com.ng/amp/s/guardian.ng/opinion/halt-nigerias-rising-debt-profile/amp From after Obasanjo paid off our debt 2006 till 2015. Nigeria's debt was 12.6trillion but this present regime has increased the debt over 90percent. Well as for Peter Obi we judge based on records not a clime where incompetent and very clueless people are in control of things. No wonder Nigeria keeps on running around in circles. And this is the man they want to bring back in 2019. |
PVision2020:Totally falsehood. This regime incured more debt than Gejs regime. You are now quoting soludo abi? Peter Obi has better economic record than even soludo. Soludo is more of a theorist while Peter has practicalised it and got results. Even till today Anambra is still on solid economic seating. Privately Peter has achieved greatly. What business has Buhari ran before? |
PVision2020:I want to ask you one simple question? Do you know how much debt this present administration has incured in comparison to previous regimes? You can say what you like but Peter Obi is not an economic neophyte. Peter Obi has ran an excellent private business successfully. How many governors in this present Nigeria left seat with surplus funds. Do you know what Peter did for education, health care etc. When he was talking millinial devepmental goals he was spot on. He is spot on what he was saying. Most of you are completely ignorant. |
Ugosample:You got it spot on. The money that goes to recurrent expenditure is mind blowing. I will keep on saying it Nigeria needs a well trained person with deep understanding of how the global economy operates to be in charge. Buhari has no reason whatsoever thinking of 2nd term. He doesn't even have the basic grasp and understanding of how an economy operates. |
Remember Bishop Jake's message I was listening yesterday; rich people commit suicide. Many rich people are miserable and hopeless even with all there money. Many people will not really understand. It is not just about being a woman. Sometimes one really feels horrible and terrible. And it is not of God. Even me a man sometimes feel like that but Gods presence always drives those darkness away. If not the calmness that God brings, oneday na complete breakdown |
Running away and giving up is not the answer. People like us that have seen horror, lost fortunes but still has kept pushing ahead. See we are human we no be God. Our own is to do the little we can do. Simples. Nigeria as chaotic as it looks Is still fun. I have a relative that relocated to Canada in May. But guess what? She came back last week with her kids, that she can't live the kind of life there. That she now values what she was neglecting. She migrsted Well o. Even got her social security number, got house but she just couldn't live there. True there are bad guys, but there are also good guys. I meet a lot of Nigerians, working hard on daily basis to make ends meet. Went on Wednesday public holidays to a childhood friend of mine who is a nollywood producer, we grew up together in the East. He was shooting a movie somewhere in lekki. I was really impressed with what I saw. You see young Nigerians working hard , making it. He told me that already buyers for the movie he was shooting were already waiting with millions. Saw a little girl actress of 9 years, she makes 150k per movie. And her mum was her manager. The morale Nigerians are working hard. Things may look bad, but I see good around. Nigeria will definitely get better. It will take time, but it will be a gradual process, bit by bit. But only those that align themselves will benefit. |
I hope they were given good cash incentive and better job gotten for them? |
Representing idemilli North. We don't kill python. Infact it is harmless. Witnessed as a kid it will enter my grandma kitchen and sometimes even her bedroom and it will be driven away with stick or some drop of kerosene |
I knew the kind of pain, stress it took me to get my exemption certificate and then to hear a minister serving the federal government forged her own, and the government sweeping it under the carpet is a terrible injustice to the high heavens. We live in a society where so much injustice is being perpetrated on daily basis but God watches everything. |
chineloSA:You see how backward your thinking is Have you forgotten the term black is beautiful? There is so much interracial relationship between blacks and whites. If they looked down on blacks It wouldn't have been like that. It's your wrapped mindset that sees black as evil. Never so. Black is beautiful |
chineloSA:You are the one seriously shortsighted. All these are just lame excuses. The white man was never our problem. Nigeria and many African countries were colonized by the whites as well as Singapore, Malaysia, India, Hongkong. But today they are extremely well advanced countries. I know your type, blaming the white man while you carry the major blame. ..so enough of all those excuses. |
I believe a man's wife is meant to be a helper. But if a man ends up with someone not a helper, then he should ensure he does not overdo things. But use wisdom. He should make out time to cater for himself. I remember during the burial of one of my uncles, the priest in his sermon was advising men not to kill themselves in the name of being the bread winner of the family. That men must have time and also enjoy themselves, because the day they die. That the woman and children will move on And I saw deep wisdom in what the priest said. Omo me I must enjoy myself oo. Wear quality clothes. Good ride. Sometimes personal vacations pamper myself very well. Even spend some part of my inheritance for the less privilege or my foundation. Madam and children may have 50percent, the other 50 should go to the less privileged and poor. |
chineloSA:And what does that make you? Abeg shift one side. You are even worse off. Africans worst friend is fellow black man, no be oyibo. Oyibo still better pass. No be fellow Africans dey enslave our people with terrible underdevelopment? Was it oyibo? |
Kai Aluoooooo chai God Don see pepper for man side. Chai may God just have mercy on humanity!! |
proeast:Bia nwokem kpachalu Anya Dia. Learn humility my friend. Chukwuokike has blessed us but don't go about bragging. I believe we should just be grateful and thankful to God. Don't be insolent with your words. Na baba God do am. No be about hustling oo. |
Sheggy13:Y'all sure it is a mutual benefit, that's why each party should respect themselves. And it is not just Nigeria alone but across Africa and around the world. Our people are present almost everywhere and doing well too. |
Protein0:Okorocha has better chance of ruling Nigeria than Tinubu or any other politicians from S W even Amechi has better chance. The North only gives power to those they dim loyal. And these two guys are the most loyal Southearner in Nigeria to northern political interest. |
obinoral1179:many of these guys don't know that a very deep division and mistrust has been brought to southern Nigeria. SW think the north will give them power in 2023. I laugh in Swahili. Abokis are very smart. They will be playing the entire South and honestly na so it will be. The north determines who rules this country. Simple. The only Southearner they ever supported was Obasanjo. GEJ was just because he was at the right place at the right time. |
I won't judge sports betting, because most people that I see that do it work, and many jobless guys do it to sustain themselves. But I myself don't bet but I don't judge. Then concerning life's success. Succeeding in life requires wisdom and God's favor. Sometimes many people learn from mistakes, they learn from lessons in life. They learn from associating with the right crowd. I am talking from experience. Don't write any human being off. I have seen guys written off by people that they will never amount to anything, turning out to shock people. So young woman don't write off or look down on any man. You may be surprised. |
deomelo:When did those guys make any noise? You come to Nairaland to hear banter being thrown by kids and you equate it to busy men. My friend shift one side. You think they even know you lot exist, Abeg shift with your air of importance. Nothing wey person no go see for this forum. And moreover let those making noise do afterall it's within their free right as citizens. Everybody is different. |
sweetgala:Sure when it comes to agriculture I give it to the north. Truth be told!! Na northern Nigeria dey feed the entire southoo. All the major staple food to vegetables are produced there. |
Badgerhills:So what are you really implying? Are there not massive number of igbos doing extremely very well in Lagos? Own massive properties there. Does it stop them from being blessed? There are thousands of dollars millionaires of igbo extraction living in Lagos and even Alausa recognises there importance. They pay there tax to Lagos State government and when I mean tax I am talking significant amount. Most of you should stop coming online to make noise. I am not here to start bragging or this, but those in charge of Lagos State know the value they add to the economy of the state even Asiwaju knows that so kids like you should just shush up. And mind you Lagos is getting seriously overcrowded. Nigeria is not developing new mega cities which must be done and I believe eastern governors are beginning to see the future importance of such cities and are already working towards it. They are proposing 3 to be developed in the region. When I am talking of city I mean modern smart City. This is in collaboration with igbos in diaspora bringing funds in for it. At least I have been in a think thank meeting where technocrats of igbo extraction met concerning such. |
horsepower101:I support restructuring first. Let each place develop at its own pace. But if it's for the polity to remain the way it is no no no. Because there is so much resentment and the nation cannot move forward with this mindset. No wonder the nation has been having stunted growth. And people are looking for a way to flee the country. While the solution is there staring at them. Can two work together except they agree? |
After seeing the kind of tribalism on this thread you begin to wander those that intermarry BTW this two tribes how they cope? And then you ask the unity in this nation is it not deception. It is too much.. |
yemiosinbajo:Let me say it again Africa is blessed. It is just that her citizens are just blind. We have excellent natural resources. We have even well educated workforce. The problem is just bad government. The potential for massive growth is so massive, even better than Europe and US. Why do you think people like aliko dangote are growing massively? People may talk bad about that man but I have great respect for him. He has leveraged on the needs and demand here. People should wake up. You are telling that guy the truth, point blank and he is saying that you are bad belle. Truth can be bitter but truth is truth. Presently I am building my self bit by bit. I am working very hard and my target is to help as many people as possible escape poverty. I am also now finding ways to start advising government. I am not there yet. As long as God gives us life, we will reach our destiny. My personality I don't just live for myself. I am a kind of person that works for overall good. It pains me that Africans will go through Sahara desert, over Mediterranean sea all to go to Europe. Many lose there life, many pay fortune some even sell their inheritance and in the end it is just waste. So that's why we must keep on educating then and warning them of dangers ahead. So that they will be aware. |
yemiosinbajo:The dude thought he is talking with a novice. If there are 100 people abroad maybe 5 may be successful but the other 95 will be full of regrets. Even the drugs and fraud is still very hard because oyibo done wise up. The truth is that many Africans have sold there birthright for a porridge. Many don't even have pride about themselves. Life is not easy. There is no shortcut to success it is all about hard work. People are still making it here. True our government is bad but change is coming gradually. Many Nigerians are becoming aware politically. 2019 election will redefine a lot of things and finally many of our people don't know that underdevelopment is a big opportunity for economic growth. Nigeria is not poor. Nigeria's is rich in natural resources. Rich in human resources just bad government. Only. |
Babyvet:You can imagine. I think it's been resolved because when her passport expired she renewed it at there embassy her in Lagos easily. |
resurgent2019:See this is just a medium but let me tell you I schooled abroad. I have my B S from a UK university. It is not that they are telling me. I have first hand account of how Nigerians, blacks are going through hard times. I wrote my last exam December by the next January I packed my belongings and came back home. It was not easy, but it was the right decision. My brother in law that overstayed he was later deported. Coming back was the right decision for me because if not I may not be back again here. And I am progressing little by little by God's Grace. Abroad is not made for everybody. I know many people in the UK that are living without papers that anyday they are deported , they will never get to any western country again. If you go abroad you will see people that sold their inheritance to travel and they are stuck. Except you peddle drugs or do fraud making it over there is just very few. |
yemiosinbajo:My first sister that went to deliver her baby, do you know my relatives over there collected her daughters social security number because her baby got her American passport after delivery. It really caused serious problem between she and her husband. The second one that went. That my sister dey mean she told them point blank never. They reported her to my mum that they will deal with her. The only relatives I know that are doing very well two of them are top medical doctors. It took them time but presently they are big time professionals |
Let me say it again schooling in us is not easy. You must have enough financial back up or a relative to get an iota of progress. My cousin that went to do his masters in 2013, his dad paid then 3.5 million for his school fees, then he was given extra money. Over there he got job. But it was menial. Can't even pay his rent with. Although his saving grace was our aunt a nurse over there has her own house so he was living in her house. Presently he is just managing life. Not done anything tangible. He did contract marriage to legalize his papers. Even 2 of my sisters that went there to give birth saw the kind life they live over there. So people should be told the truth. |
