I've just upgraded my Strong 4669x to software version 3.00p.

So far I have found:
- signal indication is at less than 10% when not green, so may make tracking signals harder
- option to pause recording to USB drive
- when blindscanning you can choose the steps
- in your channel list you can choose to show only "HD" channels, but really these are MPEG4 channels as 4669x is not an HD decoder!
- also in channel list you can search for channels by keyword

There is also a daily newspaper (Peoples Daily) you can read on your TV, but it is hard to read on a small screen as you have to zoom a lot:
- move to My TV position (Intelsat 7/10 @ 68E)
- scan 12522 H 26657 and tune to a My TV channel (like FOX) - they are all scrambled
- wait for many minutes
- then press Menu and choose Entertainment - Newspaper

There may be more features I have not found yet. I have not had time to do much blindscanning but it seems like the problem of it showing spurious channels has been fixed.
@ james_mac, thank you so much. I'm really greateful bro but does it have picture in picture?

deepbluesky: Hello everybody once again,

We here in Europe are awaiting the move of many frequencies to the new Astra 2F UK or PE Beam. But there has also been announced that 2B West Africa frequencies will move to 2F Africa Beam. One of them is Multi TV which will change its frequency: http://www.multitvworld.com/upgrade/

What are your observations ? Is it still on 2B or has it been activated on 2F ?

And can you see any difference in signal quality at 12543H and 12603V compared to yesterday do that we can be say for sure that they have also left 2B ?

Thanks a lot and greetings from Stuttgart/Germany.
@ deepbluesky, MultiTv have left Astra 2B and have migrated to Astra 2F. There is really an increase on their signal strength here at my end though a lot of people here might not notice it because they are getting full signal strength before the migration. At my office, I was having 81% on MultiTv due to some percentage I gave up so that I could get all the trasponders on my third lnbf (pointing on 16 and 17 degrees east) on my single 90cm dish. I was surprise to see MultiTv at 91%.

Kungu: Good evening,

Intelsat New Dawn @ 32.9° East,
New Naija tv Platform on frequency 11014 H DVB-S SR 29995.

Channels on, ITV Nigeria and JET TV.

Sometime ago, DSTV was using those channels with service 4 to 10 as feed for Super sports 7 though they usually mute the audio.

olushaggy: Are these FTA's?
No, they are not FTA except three channels. Aljazeera sports channels are changing their name to Bein sports by January 2013.

olushaggy: Please House, i have these 1.8m dish primarily used for Internet Broadband but not in use now.. I was thinking if it will be possible to convert this to track Tv channels?
And if possible, how?
@ olushaggy, the picture of the dish you posted here look like 1m and not 1.8m. If the dish is hooked up on eutelsat w4/7, you may try and replace the lnbf and input DSTV trasponder and see how it works if you know the technical aspect of it but if you don't maybe you source for help.

microgiant: Good one, we are still waiting for the 9ja sat to come on board grin ; Please what is the name?
NigComSat-1R wouldn't come on board until it is close to it's expiration. You know, 9ja government loves wastage. grin

Abdul010: My respect to all as usual, i installd nilesat on 1.8m to a friend n got mbc 65% wt sx4669x all education channels stable using Maximum prime focus single mxt 20 lnb. My question is dt since i cud nt get d dual lnb of d product hw reliable wud d signal b if i use 4ways splitter?
@ Abdul010, don't think of splitting that single lnbf let alone of doing it because if you do, you will regret killing it. Try and get youself a dual or quadral way lnbf. There are so many good lnbf out there.

@ olushaggy, try and track w3c @ 16 degrees east. You will be satisfied with plenty of french speaking channels there... only if your ASAS disease have not been activated.
Satellite TV Technology › Re: Free To Air Satellite Tv General Thread by Dlee1(m): 9:12am On Nov 22, 2012

@ Olenyi, take a look at Rdv, Rts and other french speaking channels, they have been there for long and will still be there in years to come. What do you think that sustainned them? It is money they earned from advert. Advert will sustain them if they source for it. Now that their coverage is in the whole of Sub-sahara Africa, you will see how Nigerian will flood their tv(s) with advert. Nilesat is filled up with interesting FTA channels and they are making it with advert.
Satellite TV Technology › Re: Free To Air Satellite Tv General Thread by Dlee1(m): 8:21am On Nov 22, 2012
olenyi: But if u look at it well, are they really a rival to d**v. I haven't seen any of thier channels that u can begin to compare to what d**v has to offer(ie for those dat subscribe to d**v). Multi tv doesn't have any special stuff that should give M.choice sleepless nigths. Anyway, lets see how this plays out. All-in-all, the customer will be the better for it.
Olenyi, that big gully stomach operator really dominate in Sub-sahara Africa but their problem is that they don't like seeing any interesting english speaking channel in our region that is free. Come to think of it, MultiTv will be an alternative for a lot of people if they retain it free and this will affect the sales of DS** grin

sirtony12002: The symbol rate is 27.000 according to announcement on multitv.
Bro, you're correct. I made a mistake. Thanks for the correction.

Ikiriye: @all
The cries for the red classic lnb will be over soonest as I have almost concluded logistics to get true to chief Odilibe.
I need serious people interested to plz add their names and location for the lnb.
Let it be repeated more on this page so I can have all names or possibly send me mail to ikiriye@gmail.com cheers
@ Ikiriye, a friend of mine is indicating an interested on getting the above mentioned lnbf through you but the problem now is that he doesn't know weither it is late for him to indicate his interest or not. Pls, kindly reply back.
Satellite TV Technology › Re: Free To Air Satellite Tv General Thread by Dlee1(m): 5:37pm On Oct 11, 2012
@ George_D and Ikiriye, you guys are correct though I was not asking for those lnbf(s) but I only tried to inform the house the reason why I didn't request for those precious gold. I tried Auch's line for me to know if he will indicate interest but all the same, maybe next time like George_D said earlier, we will do other test in time to come. Lastly I commend you guys including Odilibe for making provision of those lnbf(s). Viva FTA !
Satellite TV Technology › Re: Free To Air Satellite Tv General Thread by Dlee1(m):
@ All, I greet everyone in this honourable house with peace and love. It is true as George_D said it that none of the Eastern member did requested for the testing of the lnbf(s). Not that I'm not interested for the testing of those lnbf(s) but because I have sold my 2.4m prime focus dish which was hookedup on nilesat. Secondly I'm out of town and to return back by ending of next week. Due to dissapointment I had from a guy whom I suppose to purchase a second hand offset fiber dish (2.4m), I have dicided to turn my tore 2.5m mesh dish to solid one which will be used on nilesat until I get what I'm looking for. I tried to call Auch immediately I read Olenyi and George_D's post but his line was not going through. Maybe he is out of the town too. Thanks.

obnelly: Locating where the focal point is could be the problem.anybody with the formula to calculate offset dish focal lenght?should kindly drop it.so that we can work on it.
@ Obnelly, locating the focal point would't be a problem. Sometime ago I did measured the length of the lnbf holder from a certain bank. I only want to know if anybody have tried using it on fringe satellite especially nilesat in Nigeria though not from northern states.
Satellite TV Technology › Re: Free To Air Satellite Tv General Thread by Dlee1(m): 1:04pm On Sep 27, 2012
@ All, have any body tried using Vsat offset dish (1.8m to be precise) to track nilesat here in the east or in western Nigeria. Please do reply my post if there is any body. I have one that is wasting away for over two years though it doesn't have lnbf holder for now. Thanks as I look forward for reply.

Talkwisdom: Greetings to my fellow satelite hobbyists.....i want to find out if 4661x strong decoder can open all joytv channels?..my friend is of the opinion that it can't show picture but can emit sound....is it true?....Regards
@Talkwisdom, according to Strong-technologies's website, that reciever is mpeg2 and not mpeg4 and this shows that it cannot open any of the MultiTv channels. You can still visit www.strong-technologies.com for more explanation.

@ Pidzo and toba, please I plead to you in the name of God to stop the quarrel you are having here. This thread is turning to something else. To be frank to two of you, I really love this thread because of some news and information I do get from this beautiful thread but it will be so sad if you turn it to something else. I suggest that two of you should go ahead and flourish this thread with football news and info and stop exchanging of flamming words of yours here. We are all brothers despite of where we come from. Remember that this is just a suggestion and not a command. Thank you.

@ George_D, Ikiriye, Odilibe. I must commend you guys for all your effort concerning the purchase and testing of those lnbf(s) you mentioned previously. It is not easy to caugh out such amount of money just for others to choose the appropriate lnbf on fringe satellites. I pray that with those lnbf(s) we will be able to eliminate BUD to some extent.

BUGS12: Dlee, have you forgotten that in the US theres a place called china town, with chinese everywhere.
Yeah, there is a place called China town but that doesn't give them room to flood American market with fake products. One can easily get Chinese product in US but it have to be inline with US standard. Sometime last year, US government warned China that they don't want any of their products that was produced by the inmates in USA. US is not a porous countary where any fake product can flood in the way they flood in here.
Satellite TV Technology › Re: Free To Air Satellite Tv General Thread by Dlee1(m): 8:57am On Sep 09, 2012
BUGS12: ... Even countries like UK and US, have a lot of fake chinese products too,...
Objection Mr BUGS12, those fake products from chinese are not common in those places you mentioned above the way they are in Africa. Remember that they checks products that are imported into their countries. grin

Anthofrie: KKTV and co are still showing. All u need to do is to be patience for like 5-8 seconds before it turn green.
I noticed something about this. With Srt4669x, one don't need to wait even for a second but with other recievers one can even wait for two munites before those channels comes up.
