In as much as these things should be reported,
you seem to be obsessed with rape.

I hope you're not obsessed as a result of bad experience, if so, let go. Healing comes from letting go else you get married and start suspecting everybody in your neighborhood including your husband
saphiere:
A suspected rapist standing trial before the Samuel Ilori Magistrate’s Court in the Agege area of Lagos State has escaped.

PUNCH Metro gathered that the defendant was arraigned on Wednesday for allegedly raping a teenager.

The court was said to have ordered his remand in prison custody.

The suspect was being processed for remand when he reportedly fled the court premises.

Efforts by warders to apprehend him were said to have failed.

A credible source said, “The suspect was brought to court by the police and he was remanded. He had been taken to a holding cell by the police when it was discovered that he had not been properly processed. As the police and the prison warders were perfecting the arrangement, he used the opportunity to jump on a vehicle from where he scaled the court fence and escaped.”

A trader in the area, who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed the incident to our correspondent.

She said, “I was there yesterday (Wednesday) when the incident happened. I saw security operatives and other persons searching for the escaped suspect. He couldn’t have climbed over the fence of Guinness because the fence is high and the top is full of barbed wires. Besides, they have a big and spacious compound and an intruder can be easily spotted.”

The spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, Adekunle Ajisebutu, said he could not confirm the incident.

However, a senior official confirmed the incident, adding that efforts were on to re-arrest the fleeing suspect.

Foreign Affairs › Re: 2 Suicide Bombers Attack Pakistan Mosque, 30 Killed by DMerciful(m): 4:07pm On Mar 04, 2022
Denial is a major factor affecting Muslims.

When the early Christian crusaders were using violent means to convert people, because they were told the truth that thats not the ways of God, they accepted and changed forever.

Muslims refused to tell themselves the truth and will never listen to others.

Self denial is the worst
yrex01:
it's funny when a church suffer bomb attack and our so called Christian brothers start calling muslims names without even knowing the culprit and it's more funnier when a mosque suffers the same attack but muslims are to blame as for that too.

Those citizens did not start paying tax for the love of it, No! The state is structured to collect tax or die!

When states are faced with existential threats, they become innovative.

We cannot be innovative because there's no incentive to do so. Oil money comes from Niger Delta so we can as well abandon our agriculture, limestone etc and wait for month end.

You need to put the structure before the result will come and not the other way round. Unless you inadvertently want Nigeria to continue to retrogress forever
backbencher:
Each of the states indigenes also pay enough tax to maintain those institutions

Each of those states are either heavily industrialized, have mechanized agriculture on a large scale or both and the sector's export heavily

Nigeria needs to do a lot of changing before we can be at that level

That involves making hard choices which i have outlined and which you ignore

USA is one country but each of the states has their own constitution, Supreme Court, electoral body, their own police. And thats why theyre prosperous.

Canada has same thing. Why cant we do it here?

When you say war, what does that mean? That because they said use your resources to develop yourself then youll start fighting Bayelsa? If you're not viable then merge.

Maybe these states shouldn't have been created in the first place. A solution to that would be regional autonomy with regional police force, Supreme Court etc
backbencher:
Dividing the country still won't solve the problem

Plus your division comes with the idea that it would be three different Nigerias. It would be more than that

And all of them resource hungry

You're sounding like you dont want it.

You see why we're many nations in this country and we have different aspirations.
And thats the reason we should embrace separation, we cannot work like this.

Oyo state is bigger than atleast 15 European and Asian countries and they're highly prosperous. So why cant the 6 regions of Nigeria be countries so that those who want progress can pursue it.

This tower of Babel called Nigeria sucks!
Stevenson20:
Ogbeni can't have a functional state police without restructuring this British establishment called Nigeria. Even if you have state police now, directly or indirectly they'll be answerable to FG unless the constitution is properly addressed.
Politics › Re: To Those Asking Ipob To Go Through Political Means by DMerciful(m): 8:55am On Feb 28, 2022
We are running a country of many nations as if its a country of one nation, doesn't work that way.

The way the Edos may wanna achieve prosperity might be different from the way the Fulanis might wanna do that. Restructuring let people pursue their aspirations within the protection of a large country without the weight of others.

Saying this is not the right time is to ensure the right time never comes because Restructuring is supposed to put the conditions for prosperity through healthy competitions.

There has to be sacrifice!
backbencher:
Read my last two lines , and you will see I did not say that.

Nothing, except that it isn't something that takes 3-5 years...it is something that takes much longer.

And let's be honest, most states don't have the capacity to produce enough income. Plus tax collection is low, low, low.

And the Netherlands has

1. A strong exporting...I repeat exporting...industrial sector.

2.A heavily mechanized agricultural sector.

Which took decades to build.

Nigeria? We share oil money. Again, read the last two lines of my original post as to how we can get off oil.

No it does not. We are slowed down by the idea that we can become rich by selling oil and other raw materails and sharing the money. Problem with that model is, prices of whatever we sell fluctuate and are never enough.

Once again, read the last two lines. And no, I do not support sharing oil money.
Politics › Re: To Those Asking Ipob To Go Through Political Means by DMerciful(m): 8:42am On Feb 28, 2022
You said oil will fall yet believe we should be sharing oil money. The truth is as long as we continue to run this feeding bottle system from oil, we would never develop.

Whats so difficult for different states to identify their strengths and key into it? There are countries without natural resources that are prosperous.

The Netherlands thats the size of Oyo state has an annual revenue of $20 billion from agriculture alone, that's half of our national budget.

This system slows everybody down, we need to restructure so everyone develops according to their aspirations
backbencher:
Considering that we had fewer people back then and tribes were more isolated then than now, I daresay we survived.

The thing is, I have not said you cannot have restrucrting. I have said you can have it, provided you can pay for it

And at the moment Nigeria cannot pay for restrucrtuing. No matter how you shout it, at the end, we don't have the money to sustain it.

Unless we end up with war on our hands.

If we want independence from oil, by all means, remove oil subsidies, and power subsides. We would have enough power for indstrial growith and development which would make us all self sufficeint and put us in a position to restructure.

Which is why Czechoslovakia split peacefully. Both countries were industrially self sufficent. Nigeria is not that , we rely on resources and we fight wars based on resources.
Politics › Re: NASS Snubs Southern Governors, Excludes State Police From 68 Amendments by DMerciful(m): 8:35am On Feb 28, 2022
So we should not develop because of fear of abuse?

Mention one country where a centralized police force is successful
Stevenson20:
I don't think Nigeria as of today needs state police. The actions of our governors with their power drunk attitude will convince you. State police will be their tools in fighting their perceived opponents or enemies.
Politics › Re: To Those Asking Ipob To Go Through Political Means by DMerciful(m): 8:23am On Feb 28, 2022
How were they surviving before the British came? If the British did not come, would people who have survived for over a thousand years suddenly die out?

Why do we celebrate being dependent on others?
backbencher:
First, my problem with restructing is that we don't have the conditions for restructing.

At the end, restructing to me means we all go back to the First republic when every region 'Produced something' The thing is 1) our agricututral and mineral sectors are not where they used to be 2) we don't have the guaranteed markets we used to have in the 1960's 3) we don't have mechanised agriculture 4) we don't have an organised mining sector.

And anyway, we end up selling stuff whose prices we don't control.

Let's fix our low tax uptake, let Nigerians pay more in tax...especially the 70% of Nigerians who don't pay income tax to the state and FG, then we would have money for state police.

Let's also get our economy off oil , pay our light bills, end subsides on power and petrol, so that we can have more money at hand, grow well, then we can talk about restructring.

Because, and I know people don't like this....restructruing for now means taking oil money away from 80% of the country and leaving them to fend for themselves. If that does not provoke a resource related civil war, what won't.

Loool. Britain reign ended in the 19th century! Again, Russia will defeat Britain 60 times if they fight 50 times. DYOR
Awesometouch1:
Yes, size matters to a good extend but military edge and resources matter more. Do you think Russia stood a chance against Germany if Germany wasn't fighting multiple super powers at the same time?

Do you think Taiwan would still be existing if size is all that counts?

Remember how smaller Japan invaded China and screwed them up.

My dear, Russia can't defeat Britain. It'll be a long war without a winner at the most. Britain has got the tech, human and material resources for the war.

Historically, it had bee Britain saving Russia's ass from one war or the other.

Is it Russia that's selling crude oil and gas like Nigeria?
Foreign Affairs › Re: Jean-Yves Le Drian: Putin Needs To Understand NATO Has Nuclear Weapons by DMerciful(m): 4:29am On Feb 25, 2022
Loool....lamba!

Russia will defeat Britain 50 times if they war 50 times.

If not US and Russia, Germany would have defeated Europe incliding Britain.

Size matters!
Awesometouch1:
Yes, you make much sense but Putin is only doing this because he is sure NATO won't intervene directly. NATO has said it repeatedly over couple of weeks they won't send soldiers to defend Ukraine.
Russia had been using one foot at a time to test the waters before taking their next step each time. They also know the boundaries NATO has set as red-line and won't cross it.
However, if Ukraine decides to fight it out, Russia will lose eventually, going by the world's definition of defeat. Ukraine has the man power. They just lack the tools, resources, and maybe, training.

Do you know what?, had the US suddenly risen to defend Ukraine before now there wouldn't have been any invasion. Russia would've still saved face since they've been claiming they were not out for invasion and that the West was only imagining it.

Furthermore, if NATO decides now to push Russia out of Ukraine Russia will freak out and will more than welcome negotiations.

My brother, nobody wants a nuclear war. If Russia wasn't nuclear powered, Britain would've been the first country to declare war on Russia immediately they invaded Ukraine just like the way they declared war on Germany the instant they invaded Poland.

It was not by chance you and I speak English today. Great Britain has reigned supreme on the face of this earth for centuries and in fact were even instrumental in the creation of a German state. Britain has had such tremendous influence on the rest of Europe that will surprise you. Before I used to think all European countries were equal but I was wrong. Britain is a Master in Europe.

Right now, Britain is the only country I've heard make mention of an eventual direct military conflict with Russia over Ukraine. That's the kind of bloody fighters they are. According to those that know, they are the only country that has successfully beaten Russia to the point of surrendering after invading them.

Forget that they are smaller, the British are the ones with the real chest for war. America shy away from war by all means unless they are pushed to the wall like the 9/11 and Pearlharbour.

Had Russia been responsible for a thing like 9/11, America would've descended on them with their whole might irrespective of any noise from Putin.

Seriously, you watch too much Hollywood!

Russia is a country that hides their capabilities.
US fears Russia and avoid direct military confrontation at all cost!
franchasng:
Stop believing nonsense military propagandas peddled by people trying to antagonize US.

Russia is no match to the US alone talk more of NATO. What Putin is doing is to use scare words to intimidate this present set of NATO nation leaders into abandoning Ukraine for him to bully as he pleases. Russia is scared of NATO, if not why is Putin scared of Ukraine joining NATO? If Putin truly believes NATO is a pushover then he should allow Ukraine join NATO first and then he can invade and use that opportunity to deal with NATO since he has IQBCKSLS pointed at every nation of the world, nonsense talk.

To let you know that Putin is scared of US or NATO stopping him from bullying Ukraine, before this invasion, he went to China to meet with China's President Xi Jinping in an effort to get a backup ally should things go south for him.

Russia, China, Iran, North Korea and all those communist like nations fear US because they know US controls the world and even their own nation's economy.

Russian military and tech companies depend on semiconductors from the US. Most of them use US patent technologies to survive yet you guys believe Russia is this or that.

Vladimir Putin is on Instagram and I guess Twitter. Russian government officials also use Twitter and majority of Russians depend on US tech platforms for social and other purposes. And these are all American technologies.

When Trump banned Android from selling their technology to China, Chinese mobile phone makers almost crashed.

Most of you overrate Russia and underrate the great America just because you hate America maybe because of religion.

No country on earth can challenge US, the only problem with US right now is poor leadership
Foreign Affairs › Re: Jean-Yves Le Drian: Putin Needs To Understand NATO Has Nuclear Weapons by DMerciful(m): 4:16am On Feb 25, 2022
You think Russia is this dumb, absolutely nothing would happen! Russia has their own alliance including China
OAra:
To put it bluntly, Putin is operating on borrowed time.

The modernization of the Russian military has happened by taking huge loans via 2 semi-governmental institutions (Vnesheconombank, which acts as an independent development bank and Promsvyazban, which services around 70% of Russia's military defence contracts), thus not weighting on the limited state's budget. Now these 2 entities will be completely frozen out of Western capital markets.

The mix of Western sanctions includes financial sanctions (currently targeting over 80% of the Russian banking sector), export control actions (for example Western companies are barred from selling modern tech, semiconductors etc to Russia and its allies) and personal sanctions (Putin's close allies and their families, the Duma's members etc).

Today, first day of the crisis, the Russian market opened up at -30% and the central bank had to massively intervene to avoid a collapse of the ruble (which is underway anyway, reaching 89.60 rubles to 1$), with further interventions likely to be required.

To sum it up, Russia's economy will be heavily hit by the sanctions, its people (already suffering from a weak economy) will suffer even more, and with its main military revenue sources blocked, it is highly unlikely Russia will be able to maintain a military edge for long, with some even calling this the Kremlin's swan song (I do not believe this for a second, but it's true that they will be severely weakened).

Putin is acting on borrowed time. He knows it, the West knows it, and he knows that his enemies know it.

In the medium-long term this little war will have costed Russia x10, x100 times more than what they gained.

Sanctions might not make for big news, but they have the power to throw a country in terminal economic decline. Enjoy your famine, Russians.
Foreign Affairs › Re: Jean-Yves Le Drian: Putin Needs To Understand NATO Has Nuclear Weapons by DMerciful(m): 4:12am On Feb 25, 2022
You absolutely dont know Russia capabilities.
There's a reason the US has been avoiding Russia from the 50s.

The day US go directly to Russia militarily, consider US nolonger superpower, infact they may be no more.

Have you wondered why US always build alliances of many nations? Their capabilities are overrated!
franchasng:
I have said this countless times.

NATO will destroy Russia in few days should war escalate but the problem is leadership. Current leaders of NATO member nations are cowards, they lack the willpower and courage to use their strength and might. Even to disconnect Russia from SWIFT they cant summon the courage to do it and cripple Russian economy immediately.

If Vladimir Putin was a US President right now, Russia will be retreating in hours.

Its not as if Russia is that strong, yes they have military might but they are almost a poor country, but they have a strong man as President who understands the law of power and how to lead a war. He talks tough thereby making opponents to see Russia as the greatest giant. Vladimir Putin is the strongest President on earth right now but Russia is never the strongest nation.

Some people are rich but don't command the respect, thats the case of US now under Pa Joe Biden. US have gradually become a toothless bulldog under Democratic leadership, what a shame.

Just make Vladimir Putin the President of US and Joe Biden the President of Russia and watch Russians pissing in their pants with fear.
