Your generation had the golden opportunity to shape Nigeria and to develop it considering the population and wealth at the time. Now you've a lot of graduates with no jobs, so what do you expect smart graduates to do? You already created the right environment from yahoo yahoo, crimes and fraud. Everything rises and falls on leadership so if Buhari that has not improved himself since 1985, has no school he built, no book he wrote, no business he owns will improve the lives of 200 million people then we are expecting way too much! He cannot just give what he doesn't have.

After the civil war, rather than go back to where we were in 1966, we continued with a system of conquest even when we knew that was not what was negotiated by the ethnic nationalities at independence. We thought that if the other two main ethnic groups are having the spoils of war then it's ok but we did not look towards the future to know that such system of injustice would lead us to be the poverty capital of the world and the third most terrorized country. Unless we restructure, breakup is inevitable
drlateef:
Ahahahah! The leadership is not the only problem with Nigeria. Even the followers have done more damage to the country. Buhari is not Hush Puppy, Buhari is not yahoo boys. Buhari is not the bribe takers among the police, customs, every staff taking bribe in civil service. Buhari is not the spare parts dealer who sells fake products or the medicine dealer who sells fake medicine. Nigeria is on top when it comes to cyber crimes in the world. We are not the only impoverished people. Somalis are hungrier than us, yet they keep their dignity. We need a social re-orientation. When EFCC picks up someone from your village or church, do you not shout them down? Do you ask for the source of wealth of your village champions ? Do you ask where people get the millions they pay as tithes in churches? People were not this rotten in the early sixties and seventies. But the present generation is a get-rich-quick generation. They will not blame themselves but the government.

And yet you're pretending not to know what's happening in Nigeria? If truly you campaigned
with Awolowo then it would suffice to say that your generation failed Nigeria because having gotten independence, you squandered it to bring Nigeria to this pathetic state. If we were under colonialism till 1990, we would have been better. I'm sure you voted for Buhari, a monumental disaster!

The NASS is a fraudulent chamber esp this rubber stamp assembly. A new constitution that will eliminate this wasteful bicameral legislature is what we need
drlateef:
I probably might be older than you. To give you a hint, I was always attending Awolowo’s campaign. We’re you borne then?

Arguing with you will waste my time. If you're sincere, you will use the indices of development to compare all administration from 1999 to date and find the % improvement or decrease in these indices including corruption then you will see how you were deceived by propaganda. The internet is there, use it!
ThatFairGuy1:
The Most progressive? You must be joking.

Someone was fortunate to be president when oil price was at its peak(ever in Nigeria history) but nothing to show for it other than looting and borrowing to pay workers' salaries.

Besides, tell us those problems he solved. Waiting to hear from you
Politics › Re: 2023: Will You Vote Jonathan Again? by DMerciful(m): 5:24pm On Oct 07, 2020
GEJ was the most progressive president we had, he solved far more problems than almost other president except Obj and he could have done more if he was allowed to implement the confab

Never will I vote GEJ again. People forget easily. He's one of the reason we are where we are today due to cluelessness.

His cabinet members looted all our money under his drunkard nose.

You see as you indicted yourself! You equated a 1 month snapshot as equivalent to 3yrs in a roll.
Read my comments again, GEJ never sold crude above $100 for even 2yrs. You might get few months above $100 but when you find the annualized average, it's less than $100.

This was how you guys were deceived in 2015 before elections that we sold oil for $140 throughout GEJ tenure when we didn't for even a yr!

The reason you are not seeing innovativeness to generate new sources of revenue is because there is a feeding bottle. Same way ND oil discovery killed groundnut pyramids in the North, cocoa in the SW, palm in the South and East, coal in Enugu ,timber etc. How much is a liter of groundnut oil and how much is a liter of petrol? The Netherlands that's not bigger than Oyo states generates $20 billion annually from agriculture alone, this is more than 50% of our annual budget
Also not that with cars not dependent on oil, demand will reduce drastically and supply will far outweigh demand driving price to less than $5/barrel

You still dont understand restructuring, we are not saying restructure anything for a specific region. We are saying restructure the federation so that state control their resources. They control their destiny. Restructuring does not mean all Igbos should go to SE, far from that. It means all Igbo state like every other states determine how they want to manage their resources

When we were in regional govts, were we poor? Or you think there was allocation from the centre?

Nigeria is a blessing to us o, if u no know know now.

To me what's the use of saying u want whether restructuring or Biafra then u all relocate from the region to another?

If Igboland present SE was a country of it's on, considering it's present location, I assure u the SE will be very poor, take it from me. I am an avid reader and researcher.

Benin republic and Togo is larger than the SE land mass and has access to sea yet it's as poor as poverty, togolese are one of the poorest in the world.

Sierra Leone and Liberia almost same size with SE with sea access they are very POORRRRR, govt of Liberia is always begging Nigeria for aid.

Not to talk of Niger republic that's like times 10 of Biafra, look how they suffer...

LoL... Make short sighted thinking no go make I'ma make big mistake o
Politics › Re: Yakasai: Buhari Lacks The Powers To Restructure Nigeria by DMerciful(m): 6:01pm On Oct 06, 2020
It's very hard to restructure through the national assembly! The North do not want restructuring and they have more lawmakers so by voting its already dead on arrival. Secondly, restructuring will affect the earnings of those fraudulent lawmakers so there is no motivation to do it. Think beyond the surface Mr man
drlateef:
Some people just like to fight with their keyboard. Look for where your Rep is and order him to go to the National Assembly and pass bills to restructure Nigeria. What’s hard in that? Why do we just argue aimlessly? Use your Rep and Senator to make the change you want.
Politics › Re: Yakasai: Buhari Lacks The Powers To Restructure Nigeria by DMerciful(m): 5:58pm On Oct 06, 2020
Because the poor ones are acting as deadweight to the strong ones. We are not even talking of leaving, we are talking of restructuring to what we have in the US, Canada, UK etc. Do you think all province in canada or USA are equally rich? How many US states are as rich as California and New York? Will they now merge everything together because of states created by military fiat? Most of these states in Nigeria are illegitimate created by illegitimate govts. There were no referendum to create these states, the motivation was to get more allocation from the centre whether they contributed to the allocation or not. Is this a viable reason to create state by military dictators? Any state that cannot survive should be merged! Restructuring should also involve redrawing of some state bothers to include their nationalities in other states
Coldie:
So what's the relationship between what u said and restructuring?

Ask yourself the reason why the strong ones are always the ones leaving a union, no vulnerable, unstable and poor state will think of leaving the EU
Politics › Re: Yakasai: Buhari Lacks The Powers To Restructure Nigeria by DMerciful(m): 5:51pm On Oct 06, 2020
Many state will be generating more revenue than the paltry allocation of today. You make it seems like if not Nigeria, the Igboland would have been poor. I really don't understand you! Nigeria does not generate money, the money is gotten from lands of the states.
Coldie:
U and I know that SE can't bank on agriculture neither can we bank on mineral resources.

Maybe technology but the others I am not sure
Politics › Re: Yakasai: Buhari Lacks The Powers To Restructure Nigeria by DMerciful(m): 5:47pm On Oct 06, 2020
You think because the Igbos are hardworking and can survive anywhere means if a Ferrari is tied to a 911 trailer, the Ferrari can speed up? Do you know what deadweight means? When tied to people who have different aspirations from yours? Do not be overconfident, UK recently left EU because they considered EU becoming deadweight to them especially as they've been bailing some EU states and the constant sharing of refugees from middle east
Coldie:
This is a poverty mentality for u to say this really we as igbos have fallen.

A true igbo man before the fall can never say this and I believe this thinking has a lot to do with the civil war.

Me as an igbo man am hoping that Africa would decide it's destiny one day, we would be able to do away with colonial borders, I even sometimes muster the thought that Niger republic should join Nigeria
Politics › Re: Yakasai: Buhari Lacks The Powers To Restructure Nigeria by DMerciful(m): 5:39pm On Oct 06, 2020
What do you mean Africa is Africa? Are we unique to failures? Do you know that indigenous Canadians do not make upto 10% of Canada, the rest are immigrants even if it means immigrating 100yrs ago. Bottom line is that the European colonised us for failures by joining different nationalities in a 'soup' of confusion while they partitioned themselves along ethnic nationalities. It's the overwhelming mix of nationalities that's impede Africa development. That's why we are saying that we should restructure to a loose federation so that different nationalities can pursue their aspirations in a common border!
Coldie:
You keep mentioning Canada Canada.

Africa is Africa, u can never change that o.

Africa is Africa that's why South Africa that was once a developed country with nuclear war heads are right now shouting foreigners are taking our job, yet Canada opened their borders for foreigners.

It's not cause of this or that just know Africa is and always will be Africa

Not really, they are viable because they believe they have the human resources to succeed.
Agriculture can sustain any people who have lands as a basic while technology, manufacturing, mineral resources etc will make them richer. But agriculture is sufficient in itself! We cannot continue to depend on Niger Delta oil, before oil we were prospering

Reason alot of European countries have an advantage with regards to federalism is that alot of EU country's states are now viable enough to sustain themselves, before they reached this level it took centuries U AND I KNOW THAT

Restructuring is taking us to federalism where the states control their resources and pay a percentage to run the federal govt who will be concerned with immigration, territorial integrity,
military, supreme court etc. We are not restructuring based on regions. This geopolitical region is a fraud as it has no govt or parliament. We are giving the states autonomy to succeed or fail if they choose to!
Coldie:
Having control over education, you and I know these lies are now sth of the past states have full control of most of the things u said up there.

We have state school and federal schools, do u think federal government controls state schools?

Same goes with your healthcare, has the FG stopped any state from setting up state of the art health care facilities?

Has the FG stopped any state from setting up emergency Management?

I won't lie to u, if quota system is removed you are opening the igbos to full time legal marginalization.

Politics › Re: Yakasai: Buhari Lacks The Powers To Restructure Nigeria by DMerciful(m): 5:25pm On Oct 06, 2020
Competition among states will be the biggest motivation for them to develop. It's happening in Canada, they dont have two heads. You talked about Hope Uzodinma abusing is power as governor to make laws tru the house to give him more power to abuse but part of restructuring is to fix the electoral process where misfits can't be governors or easily booted out through credible electoral process.
Coldie:
Mostly decided by northerners right. And u want it to remain so?

So in your thinking if Abuja is less attractive states will start developing?

U and I know this is a lie.

Alot of states are receiving much money and nothing has changed you think it will change over night?

If Abuja relinquishes some powers some states will become no go areas cause it will be plunged back to 1970, look at hope uzodinma who made IMHA pass a law that gives him the power to arrest anybody in the state for as long as he chooses, imagine if more powers are given to governor's like that?

I hardly hear about FG owing salaries but u and I know states owe salaries like mad, imagine where there's state police and some states start owing police men 10months salaries. U are setting up a time bomb cause all those police men will turn to full time armed robbers.

The list goes on.

Ur location says Abuja and am surprised u think like this, am currently at Abuja, do u like the economic situation of our people at Abuja?

Your kind of thinking is full blown cowardice, people like u would go to a place instead of fighting for your right, u would go and live under Miserable condition just to avoid competition.

If we as igbos have this thinking we have failed the next generation of igbos, when they look at list of Nigeria president when Nigeria is 100years and find out only Nnamdi Azikiwe was close to power, I guess people like u will be happy.

U would tell them we don't need president undecided
