My husband has really changed. He is so unemotional and revengeful.

The Nigerian army has finally admitted that a soldier, 'Corporal Ajayi Johnson' actually killed a Keke Rider, identified as Mr Chimaobi Nwaogu in Aba, on Wednesday.


Igbere TV recalls that the Nigerian army had earlier denied that its men killed the Keke operator which sparked heavy protest in Aba. The army initially said the killing was perpetrated by unknown gunmen in military camouflage.

But in a statement made available to Igbere TV by Aliyu Yusuf on Saturday, the army said further investigation on the incident revealed that Lance Corporal Ajayi Johnson, one of the soldiers deployed at Forward Operations Base Ohanze for security duty absconded his duty location to an unknown destination and was reported to have been involved in a scuffle that led to the shooting and killing of the Okada rider Mr Chimaobi on Wednesday 7 August 2019.

According to the army's deputy director public relation, "the soldier was casually dressed in camouflage T – shirt which led to the initial suspected identity of the culprit as a cultist."


He, however, revealed that the soldier has since been arrested and detained.

Yusuf also noted that discplinary procedure is in progress. And the soldier will be tried according to extant military law and if found culpable will be dismissed and handed over to the Civil Police for prosecution.

The statement reads,

"Reference to our earlier press release on the incident that led to the shooting of an innocent citizen Mr Chimaobi Nwaogu of Umuokereke-Ngwa, in Obingwa LGA Abia State. Headquarters 82 Division Nigerian Army wishes to inform the general public that :"

In the spirit of the season, I will be detailing my visit to these beautiful cities on a tight budget. Lyon and Chamonix Mont-Blanc are in the South of France while Geneva is in Switzerland.

The beauty of free movement among member states in the Schengen zone cannot be overemphasized as it has created lot of opportunities and revenue for the participating countries. Even Croatia, Romania and Bulgaria have applied to join the zone seeing what other countries are benefiting.

So my journey started from Paris. I booked a Bus from the Bercy Seine Station en-route to Lyon, the trip was about 5 hours and it costs €17.

My plan is to spend a night in Lyon and 2 nights at Geneva with a day return tip to Chamonix since it is just an hour away from Geneva.

DIASPORA REMITTANCES, A KEY COMPONENT TO OUR NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT----- IKPEAZU

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has made it clear that the remittances and returns from Nigerians who live in the diaspora are key elements in our national development.

Ikpeazu made this known this night when he received a delegation of diaspora Nigerians who paid him a courtesy visit at the Governor’s Lodge, Abuja as part of the National Diaspora Day organized by the NIGERIANS IN THE DIASPORA COMMISSION ( NIDCOM) held in Abuja.

Governor Ikpeazu thanked Nigerians in the diaspora for their relentless contributions to national development through their various activities in their countries of residence and hailed their commitment to critical issues at home.

He particularly hailed Abia indigenes in the Diaspora for keeping faith with his administration through the creation of critical linkages through which different kinds of assistance come home. He recounted with delight, the various donations of medical equipment from Abians in the diaspora which have helped to boost health care delivery in the state, and called on them to move a step further and invest in human development through scholarships and grants to bright and indigent students at home.

He said that his administration will continue to create strong partnerships with Abians in the diaspora with a view to providing additional channels for meaningful cooperation.

Earlier, the leader of the delegation and Special Adviser to the Governor on Diaspora Matters, Dr. Mrs. Ngozi Ogbonna-Erondu told the Governor that they were in Nigeria for their Diaspora Summit which provides a platform for Nigerians living in different parts of the world to come home and rub minds on issues of development with a view to expanding their capacity to get more involved in development activities back home.

She informed the Governor that Abians in the diaspora will, later this year launch the ABIA DIASPORA EDUCATIONAL ENDOWMENT FUND which will provide annual scholarships for 60 students drawn from across the state. The scholarship will cover every single fee from JS1 to SS3 and thereafter to the tertiary institutions. The process for the selection will be competitive and worked out in conjunction with the State Ministry of Education.

Mr. Godson Azu, an Abian resident in the UK later presented the Governor with a copy of a book he wrote on Nigeria’s Political Development.
