Politics › Re: Gambia Operations:federal Government Spends N500 Million by dnawah(m): 4:38pm On Jan 22, 2017
highrise07:
Amidst complaints of paucity of funds, Sunday Tribune can authoritatively reveal that the Federal Government may have committed not less than N500 million towards the deployment of 200 troops to the ECOWAS operations in The Gambia.
Informed military sources disclosed to Sunday Tribune that due to the urgency of the operations, the Federal Government had to source for funds to enable Nigeria, seen as a power bloc in the sub-region to participate in the operations.
Sunday Tribune learnt further that since Nigerian troops are currently busy fighting insurgency in the North-East and huge funds had been channelled towards the operation, the Federal Government had to dip its hands into Nigerian foreign operations fund domiciled with the Central Bank of Nigeria.
The source said further that the over N500 million fund was meant for airlifting the troops, fueling the alpha jets on a daily basis and feeding.
Sunday Tribune also learnt that the troops were not paid their estacode, because of the urgency of the operations but would get it when until they are back from the operations.
ECOWAS leaders had all agreed to contribute troops as ECOWAS standard force, to force Gambian president, Yahya Jammeh out of office.
Jammeh, who had accepted defeat and congratulated his opponent, Adama Barrow, after the later changed his mind and refused to hand over to his successor.
Nigeria led the ECOWAS group by contributing 200 troops and two alpha jets including other countries like Senegal, Ghana and Mali.
Gambia has only 2500 troops, who have all pledged their loyalty to President Barrow.
Barrow was sworn in, on Thursday January, 19, 2017, at The Gambia Embassy in Dakar, the Senegalese capital, while some ground troops from Senegal.
The Nigerian Airforce Alpha jet has been busy carrying out reconnisance operations around The Gambia.
The military sources disclosed that the navy ship was despatched to Gambia, was in case of any eventuality and to assist in evacuating Nigerians who may be trapped in the country if the situation degenerates.
However with the latest development, the military sources noted that the Nigerian troops may not stay longer than one month.
According to the source, once the situation stabilises, the Nigerian troops will be recalled.
Jammeh leaves Banjul
Jammeh is expected, will now leave Banjul on Saturday with President Alpha Conde of Guinea, to begin a new life in exile.
This followed Friday’s final peace move by Conde and Mauritania’s President Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz.
The two West African leaders travelled to Banjul to persuade the long ruling Jammeh to leave peacefully before West African forces pounced on him.
All indications are that Jammeh will be going into exile in Guinea.
A senior adviser to new President Adama Barrow said talks to finalise the exile deal were holding up his exit.
Barrow to return
President Barrow on Saturday, said he was returning to his country following Yahya Jammeh’s announcement to step down as president.
Barrow on his twitter handle, @adama_barrow, said: “As Yahya Jammeh officially stepped down from office — I will be returning to my homeland, the Republic of The Gambia. #NewGambia,” the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported.
Barrow also told the Associated Press in an interview, on Saturday, that he would enter Gambia once a security sweep had been completed.
The new president also said that Jammeh would be leaving within hours on Saturday and told Gambians who had fled the country that they now had “the liberty to return home.”
Barrow, on Thursday, took the oath of office as Gambia’s new president.
He was sworn in about 5:00 p.m., Senegalese time at the Gambian High Commission in Dakar, Senegal.
Barrow succeeded YahyaJammeh, who lost in the Dec. 1 presidential election and refused to vacate office when his 22-year rule expired midnight on Thursday.
West African mediators spent several hours in talks with him on Friday after military forces of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) stopped actions to remove Jammeh by force to allow last-minute negotiations.
Jammeh, however, on state TV on Saturday, announced that he would step down in the interest of the Gambian people adding that it was his duty to “preserve at every instant” their lives.
He was also reported to have left the State House to join President Alpha Conda of Guinea to the airport, to begin a new life in exile.

Senior Special Assistant to President Buhari on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, says President Buhari deserves to go on a vacation because even God rested on the 7th day after creation.

Speaking to state house correspondents after President Buhari's departure, Adesina said

"The president is going to rest. You know that God did work of creation for six days and on the seventh day he rested. So if God needed to rest, how much more human being? So the president is just going to rest and the statement we have released is straightforward. He will go on this leave and during the leave he will do routine medical checkups."

CertifiedNaija:
A twitter user, Emo girl shared the story of how her ex-boyfriend dumped her because she was a virgin.

Read below:
Got a text from an ex after 4 years.. you men are confusing. lol how my relationship with him ended was the most confused moment of my life. This guy chased me for months. I was really into him but my hard girl reputation couldn’t be tempered with back then. I finally fell and we started dating. I used to have this really wild, bad girl appearance then but deep down inside.. it was the opposite. “We were dating.. kissing and stuff never really had time or opportunity for the secks because my parents didn’t give me space to shine. Till the day i decided to sleep over at his place and get diqed, whether my parents kill me or not the next day, man must die one day.

I was excited about that night..I really liked that guy, i didn’t even think about the trouble i’ll be in i just wanted to die by that p*nis. He was excited too and we started making out and touching each other’s prr….. You know what i mean.

It was now time to put his distin inside and he tried to put it in and i made noises like i was in pain and he quickly stopped and got up. He got up looking at me shocked and betrayed like i just executed his family. then he asked “are you a virgin” I said “yes”.

Man, the dissapointment on his face. He had that look your dad would have if he just found out you secretly sold the family house. He helped me look for my pant and other belongings and asked me to go home. I was confused Af.

He switched his number off that night ,And the next day i went to see him.. His sister told me he travelled that morning. I then got a break up text 2 days later. you guys. I WAS DUMPED FOR BEING A VIRGIN. I don’t understand this life at all.

Most painful thing is i never said i didn’t want the secks. people are born virgins. why was he dissapointed i was one. Did he think i would not catch up fast. I swear to God i’m a great learner. Look at my skills now.

I didn’t kick against getting my hymen torn apart by him.. Shouldn’t he be glad he was about to be the first? i was really really confused. And after four years he is now texting me ‘what’s going on with you, it’s been ages’ Bruh, YOU ARE MAD”.

Politics › Re: We’ll Construct 400 Dams Before 2019, Says Buhari by dnawah(m): 7:39am On Dec 14, 2016
miikyphil:
President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday declared that his administration would construct additional 400 dams to boost irrigation across the country before the expiration of his term in 2019.
He also revealed that Nigeria’s population doubles itself every 25 years, stressing that this was why the government had decided to focus on revamping agriculture and solid mineral sectors.
Buhari disclosed this to delegates from Africa and other continents at the 32nd Annual Meeting of the Food Crisis Prevention Network which was held in Abuja.
The President said the government had started implementing measures to expand the production of grains and other agricultural produce in Nigeria, adding that the country would start experiencing three harvesting seasons when more dams become operational in the next two years.
Buhari, who was represented by the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Chief Audu Ogbeh, said, “We can no longer rely on rainfall, we have to create more dams, water reservoirs and insist on harvesting food at least three times in a year.
“I am happy to tell you that that programme is being designed and in the next two and half years we shall add to the existing 200 dams at least another 400 dams across the country to encourage irrigation on a large scale.”
On Nigeria’s increasing population, he said the number of citizens across the country might hit 500 million by 2050 and that there was the need to plan how to feed the nation when its population gets to that level.
Buhari said, “We are not unmindful of our huge population here, hence the need to urgently ensure that the agricultural sector is revitalised as soon as possible. Our population here doubles every 25 years. Estimates are that by 2050 Nigeria will be in the region of 450 to 500 million persons, making us the third most populated country on planet earth coming after China and India.
“The question, therefore is, how do you feed 500 million people with hoes and cutlasses as their tools for agricultural development? However, we are proud to say that we are currently achieving a lot. This year, the harvest of grains in Nigeria has been absolutely exceptional as other African countries have been coming here in search of grains.”
The President noted that the poor handling of agriculture by government had contributed to the depletion of the country’s foreign reserves, as Nigeria spends $22bn annually on food imports.
“Our failure to restore agriculture in the face of crisis in the North-East has increased the percentage of food imports and caused a severe reduction in our foreign reserves. Africa is said to spend $35bn annually on importing food. Of that amount Nigeria accounts for $22bn and there is no need for this, because presently Africa has no excuse of not being able to feed itself,” he added.
This, he said, had warranted a renewed focus by the present government to revamp agriculture and solid minerals development, to revive the economy and make it an export-driven one capable of sustaining prosperity for the masses.
Buhari added that it was high time African countries stopped the importation of harmful foods from other continents as most of these items were toxic and cause health challenges based on findings by an agency in Nigeria.
He said, “Our National Agency for Food Drug Administration and Control have had reason to analyse certain products not originating in West Africa but imported into West Africa and then into Nigeria to be of extremely harmful effect in the diet of our people. Too many of our people are dying of new diseases as a result of this.
“We are therefore making an appeal to all of us in the sub region to do what we can to make sure that nothing harmful comes in through our borders.”
The President also urged African countries to change the method of cattle breeding on the continent, as he stated that there was need to stop the roaming of cattle in order to forestall conflicts between herdsmen and farmers.

example is mandala. if mandala should have remain in power for a long time it would have gotten to a point were they all would dislike him and booted him out.
