Deathisfree: Hi Nairalanders This is really disturbing me right now,I just wedded about 2 months ago My mother in-law first visit was 2 weeks ago, I purposely left the house before she came because I was not really bucks up Suddenly she came this morning around 7:30 am without a pre notice. She didn’t tell my wife nor call any of us to let us know she’s coming.
She stays about 35 mins drive to my house,my parents stays about 5mins drive to my house and they can not try such and perhaps. They are too busy for all that nonsense
I’m in my room right now alone here on Nairaland seeking for advice on what to do before I do wrong. I am planning to tell my wife when her mother is gone and warm her never to let such happen again. What's the big deal with your mother in-law dropping in unannounced? What's wrong with you? It's not like her visit is going to significantly disrupt your life. I don't just understand the way some of you think. Except there is something you're not telling us. |

tishbite41: it is obvious I'm talking to a Fulani slave. You talked about the referendum and I urged you on. Seeing you were at a dead end, you detoured to Abdulsalami's decree aka constitution. You don't know that the principle of self-determination is enshrined in the UN and Nigerian constitution. We at IPOB are working on ourselves. When we are ready you would see things for yourselves. You said I talked about referendum like if that is not the centrepiece of IPOB arguments. Making it seem that I created the concept of referendum because you suddenly realize it is a fool's errand doesn't do your argument any good. However if IPOB thinks they can pull off what Ojukwu did, then Nnamdi Kanu should come back the same way he sneaked out of the country and declare the state of Biafra. But I guess you are working on yourselves. How long do you think this working on yourselves will take? So we can just watch and see. |

tishbite41: do that experiment and release the true statistics. I'm from Asaba so I know what I'm talking about. If the Fulanis believe your school of thought, they will hold that referendum to put Biafra to bed. The vote for Biafra will be overwhelming, they can't even rig it. Like I said earlier, you're not wiser than the British and Fulanis. First of all, the constitution has nothing like that in place. You can't just do something that goes against the very wording of the constitution without changing the constitution first. Arguing that the government (which you erroneously keep calling Fulanis) should conduct an unconstitutional referendum just to prove you wrong and their failure to conduct the said illegal referendum means you're right, is plain stupid logic. |

SmartPolician: You certainly live in a cloud cuckoo land. The day Nigerian government will accept to hold a referendum, you will be shocked at the number of Igbos who want out of this contraption. Perhaps you should ask yourself why they always threaten those who call for secession with war. They should hold the referendum already!
Nigeria is skewed to favour certain people, meaning that there's no fairness, justice and equity. I don't even have the strength to outline the brazen and endless failings of this joke of a country.
Like I always tell those who care to listen, the only set of people who wish to continue with this convoluted shithole are those who benefit from it.
For the rest of us who are deeply embarrassed to be associated with a dysfunctional system, leaving Nigeria is one of the best things that would ever happen in our time.
Udo.com The country is truly a shithole. Nothing seems to be working, but secession is not really the solution to Nigeria's problem. The biggest problem of Nigeria is with the people, however if you divide the country into separate States, the rot will not suddenly go away. But my point is not really about, how secession is not a viable solution to the Nigerian problem but rather how unrealistic the Nnamdi Kanu way of agitating for Biafra will succeed in achieving the Biafra dream. The truth is that the only way Biafra will happen is if there is a constitutional amendment adding a right to secession in there. Only then can a referendum be conducted to determine how the masses feel about secession. The UN will never override the sovereignty of another nation and force them into conducting a process that is contrary to the specification of their constitution. As long as Nigeria maintains the facade of running a Democratic government no foreign power will interject itself into the Nigerian system. |

tishbite41: you are dreaming. If there is a referendum today, the Igbo will vote massively for Biafra. You think you are wiser than the Fulanis who equate referendum to war?! Why don't we do an experiment. Take a random sampling of 20 people from all the states that constitute the Biafra region and ask them what their vote will be? You realize that the present Biafra territory is not limited to the South Eastern states of Nigeria? |

Newboss: Actually both Russia and Ukraine are in their territories. In fact, they're next door neighbours. Guess who never fights in his territory? USA.
That has to change. Russia and China MUST balance the scale. There should be a well armed Russian and Chinese military base on the international waters just off continental US coast. That's the first step at getting US to back off. Ukraine is close enough to being US ally. And if Russia attacks Ukraine, US is obliged to help defend Ukraine. That's what alliance is about. |

You're actually right on many points.
It is interesting to note that the bulk of the people who support Kanu are these categories of people ; people living outside of Nigeria, artisans, business people with low capital investments.
Nnamdi Kanu is not being pragmatic about the pursuit of Biafra. He needs to propose practical solutions to the exit.
His pride and god-like disposition would never get him the popular votes of the people neither will it attract the crop of intelligent people he needs to formulate the perfect secession plan. Even Ojukwu with all his charisma did not depict such boastfulness, though his huge ego was one of the reasons Biafra lost the war.
There is this Igbo idiom "Igbo e nwe Eze", translated as (The Igbo's have no king). Just like Israel did to Rehoboam the son of Solomon "to your tent oh Israel, look after your own house oh Jacob." That is how the average Igbo man feels. He is king in his house, and will not bow to any other.
He keeps talking about referendum, without realizing that if there is an emergency referendum tomorrow most people that falls into the supposed Biafra regions would vote against secession. You think any sensible "Biafran" with business interests outside of the region will be stupid enough to vote a "yes" without knowing what will happen to his business.
We see how the Brexit vote turned out with a number of "yes" voters now opting to remain in EU. And this is a loose association in comparison to Biafra and Nigeria. |

The house is not just the man's alone.
While the man should be prepared ahead of time to handle such expenses, but the woman can be required to chip in if things are not going to well for the man.
With this kind of mentality, this woman will rather they be thrown out of their house with their 3 children rather than help the husband with 20k to complete the house rent. |

Spending money to tear down state structures & edifices that Rochas had built, even those for purely beautification purposes was to me a further waste of resources and time. Although he managed to build a super new hotel for himself in record time, while complaining of the looting of the preceding administration.
What it indicated to me was an administration that had no ambition to uplift or better the lives of the people. Oh! I see you're prejudiced. |

What indices were employed in developing this list?
BTW, what is Ihedioha looking for on that list, so that he can use his first 100 days to exact revenge on his political opponents?
I believe Peter Obi has what it takes to at the very least, spur Nigeria into a better economy with massive industrialization and prudent management of government resources.
But it’s unfortunate that most voters only see things through a set of tribal blinkers. Why do you assume that Ihedioha would be vengeful? Yes, he may not be a suitable fit for presidency, as he may need to succeed as a governor to lay the framework for higher responsibility. |

More jailbreaks (you can't be realising, rehabilitating and compensating BH and expect prisoners in South East, irrespective of their offences to remain incarcerated. that's cheating which we'll never take.)
