Boarding vs Day School: Are you still contemplating whether to send your kids to boarding or day school? Before now, a lot of individuals believe that boarding schools have the capacity to train a child and inculcate discipline to them. Nowadays societies are no longer the same and what is happening in boarding schools are clear cut examples. Boarding schools are shifting from morals to morale. Bullies, maltreatment, gang groups, reckless punishment to drug abuse, have masked once the best approach to quality education. The death of Sylvester Oromoni, a 12-year old boy that was beating to death at Dowen College in Lagos State, was a clear instance of what boarding school children usually face. Well, I can’t debunk the assumption that boarding schools instill discipline, after all I went to day school and don’t regret it in anyway. And my way of life was balanced with the exposure to different lifestyles. Actually those exposures are brain behind my balling ability in daily activities. And what gave me the edge was that, my parents was there to, MONITOR, CORRECT and PUT ME THROUGH whenever I’m getting it wrong. However, there has been an ongoing debate on which of the two facilities, that is, the boarding or the day schools, is better for students. It is a reality that each of the forms has its attendant advantages and disadvantages, but which one is better for you? Find out below https://doksblog.com/boarding-vs-day-school-which-one-is-better/

Sperm donors are one of those ways. Sperm donation can be used for various reasons such as: 1.When a man is infertile 2.Being a single woman that wants to have a baby among others…., This is how Nollywood star, Ini Edo, had her baby. The advantage of sperm donation is a selfless act of bringing joy and happiness to a family that is struggling to conceive. Snakebite is a scary experience no one thinks of. Yet in recent times, cases of people dying from snakebites in their toilets have continued to dominate the media landscape. Few weeks ago, discussions around the matter resurfaced following the death of Ogah Bercy, an official of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF). Bercy was said to have been bitten by a snake while using a restroom in her flat at the NAF Base on Bill Clinton Drive in Abuja. She later visited the hospital to get anti-venom but died in the process. The incident sparked a wave of concerns and reactions on social media platforms. Although some believed that Bercy’s death wasn’t that ordinary. But what do you think? Remember, the possibility is there for snake to be in your toilet IF THERE ARE OPENINGS. While being bitten by a snake in your toilet could really be scary like earlier said, there are several ways to prevent snakes in your toilet in the first place. Of course you must have heard that prevention is better than cure, after all. 1.Cover All Openings This is number one RULE. To prevent snakes from surfacing in your toilet, the first step is to cover all openings. You can do this by using mesh or wire covering to block pipes, drains, and any opening that could give access to snakes into your toilet or home...... https://doksblog.com/snakebite-video-5-sure-ways-to-keep-snakes-away-from-your-toilet/

We grow up with one ailment or the other that requires medications. As a baby, you have no option than to receive treatment as prescribed by the doctor or mid-wife. Let me use myself for instance, I grew up in a family were the mother, Oduigwe Maria, happens to be a nurse. In this kind of situation, do I need to explain what to expect whenever I fell sick? Is injection right away, unless the condition doesn’t call for it. Then, I and the rest of my siblings had no choice when it comes to taking tablets or injections for treatment. If you refuse, then people have to hold you and you will be forced to take it. But that wasn’t the scenario during my teenage age, I have a choice and is being obeyed. I prefer taking tablets over injections. But I had I friend who prefers injection over tablets and he’s not the only person confessing his choice of treatment to me. Some prefer tablets while others like taking injections. But which one do you prefer? Tablets or injections? With that said, there are two forms we take medications which include injection and tablet. But are they different? Read on to find out. Many people are under the impression that the method in which a medication is administered impacts its effectiveness. Professionals know that this assumption is both true and false. While both methods are effective, that effectiveness depends on.....Find out below https://doksblog.com/tablets-or-injectionswhich-one-do-you-prefer/

Access to the laboratory is strictly limited, for the risk of accidental infection is just too high. Here, technicians at whirring machines analyse 18,000 PCR tests a day, looking for signatures of coronavirus. Their work is so precise that just a handful of samples helped the team to discover Omicron — the new virus variant that has triggered global fears of yet another surge in the deadly pandemic. In a white lab coat and mask, Eftyxia Vardas oversees an army of technicians, biochemists, and fellow virologists in Johannesburg at one of the biggest facilities run by Lancet Laboratories, a private firm. As a clinical virologist, she has worked on diseases such as TB and AIDS for two decades. In early November, 22 positive tests — mostly around the capital Pretoria — captured her team’s attention. The PCR tests most commonly used to detect Covid-19 work by sifting through the genetic code to look for three specific genes. But the lab found that one of those genes — the S gene — had dramatically disappeared from positive test results. “We realised something was different in our PCR tests,” she told AFP, sketching her explanation on a notepad. “We weren’t entirely sure what it was, if it was an existing variant or..... Conventional wisdom now says that breastfeeding is one of the best ways to ensure that your baby is getting the nutrients that he or she needs, especially during those critical first 6 months of life. Sadly, many women avoid breastfeeding because they’re under the impression that breastfeeding can have a negative effect on their body – that their breasts will sag or droop because of nursing. But does breastfeeding affect the shape and size of your breasts? Breastfeeding mamas rejoice! Science says NO. It’s actually a myth that breastfeeding changes the shape and size of your breasts – the changes that breastfeeding mums observe is actually a byproduct of pregnancy, not breastfeeding. During pregnancy, your body, including your breasts, will start to change to prepare for the arrival ......Continue below https://doksblog.com/sagged-breastdoes-breastfeeding-cause-breast-sagging/

There were two stories recently published in the dailies which I followed passionately in order to educate the readers on the medical aspect and prevention of the condition. The stories were about two men who died at different time, had different encounter in different hotels in Lagos. They were said to have stopped breathing with no sign of life during sexual intercourse. It was attributed to Magun by the readers and some commentators. The medical explanation is that such deaths are usually due to cardiac arrest or in some cases could lead to stroke, largely referred to as brain attack. Magun In Nigeria Or Cardiac Arrest? What Is Magun? Magun is a charm that originates from the Yoruba tribe, South-West Nigeria. It literally means “do not climb.” Magun has been used for centuries to catch a wife who has an extra-marital affair or to put a promiscuous woman in check. Some husbands or parents are known to put Magun on their wives or daughters to discourage either extramarital affairs or premarital sex and ward off rapists. There are different sorts of Magun. Former beauty queen, Precious Chikwendu has told a Customary Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja that Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode has erectile dysfunction. Chikwendu made this known in the application filed through her counsel, Mr Abiodun Olusanya, seeking permission to see her children. In the suit marked FCT/CCK8/01/043/2021, Chikwendu told the court that Fani-Kayode has not had sex with her for six years and that she was forced to remain celibate during the marriage. She also alleged that the four children she has with Fani-Kayode were conceived via artificial insemination. Read more on doksblog.comChinwendu claimed through her lawyer that: “at every attempt, the petitioner made to have sexual intercourse with the respondent, there was never erection of the respondent’s penis/manhood and penetration was frustrating. “During such periods of frustration and sexual desire, the petitioner would be left with the choice of merely rubbing herself on the respondent, to have the slightest bit of relief. “The petitioner then insisted parties should seek medical help for the respondent, and on visiting the family doctor, the respondent claimed he was diagnosed of having a cyst on his penis/manhood, which is not allowing the respondent to have erection and or perform sexually. “He was supposedly placed on cyprotab and the doctor suggested that the respondent should go and decide when he wishes to remove/untangle the cyst.” Chikwendu asked the court to declare that she was never married to Fani-Kayode because he did not pay her bride price nor perform customary or statutory marriage rites with her. She mentioned that in the course of their cohabitation, she discovered that despite Fani-Kayode’s denial, his marriage to his third wife, Regina, subsisted. Chikwendu (the petitioner) made the averments in her November 29, 2021 “Application for issuance of civil summons/plaint” against Fani-Kayode (the respondent) in suit FCT/CCK8/01/043/2021 filed by her counsel Mr Abiodun E. Olusanya. She also sought an order granting her access to her kids during their calendar year and the respondent be continuously responsible for the academic, medical, clothing and welfare of the four children of the cohabitation. She wants “An order ordering the respondent to release and return the Petitioner’s property which includes the petitioner’s certificates and documents, trophies from the United Nations pageantry, Red Range Rover car, registered under her foundation name and the foundation’s certificates and the petitioner’s picture.” Chikwendu claimed that since August 2020 that she walked out of the house, she has been continuously denied access to her children and her children have been continuously deprived of motherly care and protection. Fani-Kayode is yet to file a response to the application. https://doksblog.com/fani-kayode-has-erectile-dysfunction-had-kids-via-artificial-insemination-beauty-queen-exposes/

Recently, Nollywood actress Ini Edo expressed her joy over the baby girl she had via surrogacy. And she made her intention known to public. According to her;“Yes I do have a daughter and I had her through surrogacy. The Eggs are mine and so genetically she’s my blood. I chose this path to fulfill my dream of becoming a mother,” she said. “I opted for a donor for me and my baby’s peace of mind. Another major reason I opted for a donor is that it scares me so much when I see banter and controversies between a mother and a father over a baby in public forums or when I see the man insisting he wants his child if things don’t work out between both parties,” she said. However, In Nigeria surrogacy is currently practiced by a few IVF/fertility clinics under practice guidelines from the Association of Fertility and Reproductive Health of Nigeria (AFRHN). An assisted reproduction technology regulation that has passed first reading in the Senate permits surrogacy and allows payments for transport, medications and other expenses. However, there is currently no legal framework regulating surrogacy in Nigeria; however there exist a system of arranged third party reproduction prevalent in the country. As generally observed, surrogacy agreements in Nigeria are based on simple contract terms; the concern therefore is whether such contracts birthed for the purpose of surrogacy can be enforced in our national courts. Amidst other requirements, most contracts require two key elements to make them valid and enforceable: All parties must be in agreement based on an offer and acceptance, and something of value must be exchanged to serve as a consideration (In most cases money). But what is surrogacy and who is a surrogate mother? How To Become A Surrogate Mother? What Is Surrogacy? In reality, surrogacy might be part of a woman's treatment journey if she has a medical condition that makes it impossible or unsafe for her to become pregnant and give birth. Surrogacy is simply defined as the practice where a woman or a surrogate carries a child for ......Find out more below https://doksblog.com/surrogate-mother-what-is-it-in-nigeria/

I thought it was Igbos and Yorubas that love breakfast in Nigeria the most, but my visit to Katsina State in the year 2017 proved me wrong. Breakfast is cherished by ALL and is fast-paced these days in Nigeria, with both old and young enjoying it. With that said, breakfast could be toasted bread, butter, fried eggs, sausage, bacon, kippers, baked beans, sardines etc. all laid out at the table. Sometimes noodles with fried eggs and a cup of tea can be an awesome combo when it comes to breakfast ideas in Nigeria. To some people, it may be fried yam, fried plantains, thick red palm oil stew with huge chunks of soft succulent beef. The beef seemed like it had been soaking in that stew for ages because, with every bite, the stew was the meat juice that sipped into your mouth. That being said, there are some dishes that are common in most homes in Nigeria. Some of these dishes will have variations depending on the household and their preferences. For example, Fried yam and egg stew, other homes might prefer boiled yam with their egg stew. Some, just bread with glasses of tea is enough for breakfast. What Is Breakfast? Breakfast is frequently referred to as the most vital meal of the day. It’s the first meal of the day, eaten after waking up from a night’s sleep and breaking the overnight fast. Breakfast is a morning meal that is often served between 7:00 or 7:30 a.m. and 10:00 or 10:30 a.m. Here Are 10 Common Breakfast Ideas In Nigeria However, below are top 10 breakfast ideas in Nigeria you should follow at home. https://doksblog.com/breakfast-ideas-in-nigeria/

I appreciate taking warm bath ONLY and during rainy season or harmattan period , but this very guy is always against it. Why? He said to me then; “Look at the way you are damaging your skin cells. Don’t you know that hot or warm water destroys skin cells? And you called yourself potential Biochemist.” Although, I have tried my best to convince him by telling him how I got use to warm water especially during cold seasons, but he seems not to understand. But I promised him one thing, that one day he’ll realise that warm water has its own benefits to the body. However, are you one of those who likes to have a hot, steaming shower in the morning? We all know that it is important to get kids vaccinated but do we really know how vaccination works? However, you can know it from expert, Dr. Keller Wortham, how vaccination works in protecting your baby from various deadly disease. Immunization refers to the process where a person is made immune from an infectious disease through the use of vaccine. Vaccine therefore, contains germs that have either been killed or weakened. These germs trigger the immune system to respond to the injected virus (the disease causing organism), thus building immunity. Dr. Keller Wortham, also said that the concept of immunization was inverted by a British doctor, Dr. Edward Jenner, in 1796. He noticed that cattle workers who were infected with a harmless disease called Calpox, seemed to be protected from smallpox. Smallpox affected major parts of the United Kingdom at that time. He found that purposely infecting humans with Calpox can immune them against smallpox. Dr. Edward Jenner then named this process vaccination. https://doksblog.com/vaccine-updatehow-vaccination-works-in-building-your-immunity/

Just few weeks ago, I met a very good friend of mine, a childhood friend for that matter in Owerri, Imo State. He goes by the name, Honourable Chikezie Alfred Chico, once Owerri West House of Assembly aspirant 2019. After some cheers of happiness and jokes, he then raised a sensitive point about drug use among youths that piqued my attention. According to him, “My man, in the next 10 years, the streets will likely be filled with mad people. “Trust me, I said it, from what am seeing nowadays, I don’t think we can help it.” He then said again, “Have you heard about meth or Gozoro? They’re rendering guys useless, even girls too. “And do you know what? Majority are students in Secondary schools, Colleges of education, Polytechnics and Universities.” “Bro, tell me, by 10 years to come, how do you see this viral trend of drug abuse reducing or coming to an end? “In fact psychiatric hospitals in Nigeria will soon be left with no or limited space.” Honestly, that was a voice of HONOURABLE, like I use to call him.
