alj harem: My point exactly. Waruese ose mwen, Ivineva e yoruba kevbe edo khin, my brother akugbe o e etin.Uwese ovbiyemwen okpa mahiakhin |
The Edo people don't see themselves as yorubas, but the Edos are the closest to Yorubas in various ways. An Edo man will never betray a Yoruba man to another tribe. A very big part of Edo people's heart belong to the Yorubas. As an Edo man, I can sincerely confirm that the Edos love and cherish the Yoruba people so much, that is why whatever affects them affects us.. And once it comes to politics, both tribes always watch each others back. |
We must first consider the amount of resources available to each of these governors.. If we do, I strongly believe Adams Oshiomohle and Mimiko are the best, but South-South and South-West governors are doing pretty well, South East governors are trying to meet up, while Northern governors are still finding a way to kick of but so many obstacles are hindering their efforts. |
My fellow Nairalanders, this topic has been bothering me and so many well meaning Nigerians. Nigerians have developed a very bad saving habit when it comes to money, all we think about is how to catch our fun, spend money unreasonably and forget about the future. Must we also be wasteful like our govt. According to Benjamin Franklin "If you would be wealthy, think of saving as well as possible". How do we encourage Nigerians to save for a better tomorrow? |
I so much believe in a better Nigeria. If the Afghans, Iraqis, Somalians, Sudanese and other troubled nations could be so hopeful of a better tomorrow, I see no reason why Nigerians should not be hopeful. All that is happening in Nigeria at the moment is just a test of time to strengthen our tomorrow. Nations must face trials to triumph. Boko Haram will only strengthen our security like never before. We don't have to blame our govt or system for every problem in the country, lets play our own little roles in changing Nigeria. God is so busy in Heaven working out things for Nigerians. God bless Nigeria. |
Some Nigerians could be very very foolish. All those that voted for Jonathan and not PDP are as guilty as boko haram. Pls, we should wake up and learn that there is nothing wrong with Nigeria but PDP. They are the party drawing Nigerians go their early grave.. GEJ once said we should learn to cope with bomb blast, of course we are learning to cope. We must accept things the way they are till 2015 where we're going to have another chance to choose PDP the party of DEATH or a new party for change and more united Nigeria. For now, we will continue to lose innocent souls till we make the right choice in 2015. |

Retirement does not necessarily mean total abstain from work,it could also mean working out of free will, working whenever and however you like. Retirement without work could be very boring and frustrating. The best way to plan for retirement is to start planning early in life and get yourself addicted on how to save money and educate yourself financially. Investing in bonds, mutual funds, stocks, are good options. Read "POOR DAD RICH DAD" by Robert Kiyosaki. |
Nigerian govt got broke long ago due to our mismanagement. The only way to avert these disasters that awaits us all in the near future is to vote out PDP in 2015, they have caused enough damages to our nation, virtually everything they do is a waste of resources. The battle to unseat them in 2015 must start now or we are all doomed. |
@ranlaen, you should be ready for insults for posting this rubbish against my governor. So you value the money PDP paid you to tarnish Oshiomole's image than the future of every Edo indigine? People like you are the ones PDP used in delaying our happiness for 8yrs fruitless years. PDP is a forgone issue in Edo. NEVER AGAIN. |
This is a very wise and smart decision by Ribadu. Some Nigerians could be very unreasonable, must we abandon our country for a corrupt administration because we dont want to work with them and change things. There are so many ways we could work with opposition or our critical enemies and still achieve our goals, I so much believe Ribadu is not ignorant of that. He is a very very smart guy, I believe things will definitely take a new turn in weeks and months to come. Nigerians should be ready for the surprises ahead. RIBADU 2015. |
My fellow Nigerians, why the religious hatred among us? I so much applaud and commend the way Igbos are handling this matter with the wisdom of God, here is exactly where Ojukwu got it wrong and waged a civil war. War or reprisal is never a solution and will never be a solution. I have lived in the North, and I must say that the Northerners are peace loving people, so are the southerners. Boko Haram is a political tool to frustrate GEJ and make hell out of his administration for breaking the PDP zoning rules. Northern politicians promised him all that is happening now when he won last election. The Northerners also have economical grievances against the south, only Lagos economy is larger than the whole northern states put together, not to mention the rapid development going on in other southern states. Let us all unite against a common enemy, together we can defeat them all. Pls, we must not communicate despair among us, a country must face trials to triumph, we are at a crossroad in the history of our beloved nation. The Igbos ability to keep calm till now is unsettling the enemies camp, every battle must not be fought with bowls and arrows. My people, lets pray and apply wisdom to the challenges facing the nation. ONE NIGERIA. |
It is a very good idea, like in civilised nations where 3 out of every 5 citizen is a corp or informant. This will really help us, no doubt, but there must be a proper structure on ground in recruiting these security agents, so that we wont be putting our security in the hands of those responsible for the whole insecurity in the country. |
Nigerians are getting what they bargained for, foolish people, we had all the chances in the world to vote for a better President, instead, we allowed sentiments to take over our sense of judgement, and now, we are all paying the price in sorrows. The same Nigerians complaining now will also miss the track to elect a better president come 2015. Are we still doubting Buhari or Ribadu would have done a better job in handling all these situation in the country? We're almost doomed as a nation, nothing God can do again. |
@190, mind how you refer to my Governor, if you dont have anything to say pls keep your mouth shut. |
@Olodostein, I so much agree with you. Some of the things we are emulating from the western world are the things the western world are trying hard to get-rid of. |
I see some senses in what the Chinese govt is trying to do. Spending so much time on TV and other social activities is one reason our children can no longer do well in schools. China is not abolishing TV Entertainment, but restrict the ones that are not helping their children to grow in the right direction. I think some TV programmes in Nigeria are not in any way teaching our children the right things. Our govt could emulate this from China, we should not always see everything that China does as undemocratic, After all, the State of Israel does similar things with their Entertainment industry. |
@0P, dont't even think of getting a loan from any Nigerian bank if you want to live a stress free life. Their questionable rates wont even enable you pay back, except you want to invest the money in cocaine business if you luckily get the loan. If our fraudulent politicians cant even pay up their debt to banks, I wonder how you can pay up. Just save money from any other means and do whatever you want to do according to your pocket. |
Angriest Nigerian |
@OP, you're right, naija babes are the most materialistic in the world. I just returned from naija, my own experience with naija babes was horrible, One visited me in my hotel and asked me for 85k to buy a hand-bag without any sense of how difficult it is to get 85k in naija. I initially had the intention to marry back home, but I have seen things from naija girls that made me change my mind. I pity Nigerians abroad who goes home to marry or marry one and dump her in Nigeria with kids, Many guys abroad are not even responsible for those kids naija babes are carrying for them. More than half of naija babes are already a waste product that can never be re-circled. |
@Seun, thanks for this thread. You all should know that Nigerian Bonds are one of the most attractive and safest in the world for local and foreign investors. One could start by buying treasury bills (3,6,9 or 12months) if you want to invest. After building your capital base, you could go for a longer term investment by buying bonds. One majour factor that will never make a poor man get rich is FEAR. Some people have never invested in Nigerian bonds or treasury bills, they are already giving up to fear by asking, what if Nigeria breaks-up? what if the govt fails to pay up? what if that, what if this happens? We should not allow the bad things happening in Nigeria to blind us from seeing the good opportunities. |

Well, after criticizing GEJ, we should also remember to pray for him. because if GEJ continue with this kind of weak leadership, Nigerians should be ready for an unimaginable disasters. Mr president should know he is leading a very difficult country and must be hard and difficult to get things done. Although we are all regretting why he ever won the presidency, but the damages had been done. We just have to rally round him and support him to work harder and tougher for a better Nigeria. God Bless Nigeria. |
Sometimes when people refer to most Nigerians as fools or the most gullible people to rule on earth, we seem not to understand. We gladly voted for the wrong man at a very critical time. We should not complain because we are only getting what we bargained for, I swear, had it been Buhari or Ribadu won, things would have been more better. Nigerians dont only have a weak president, but a crippled one. More years of weak leadership till 2015 and hope not to miss a good chance to elect the right president regardless of his religion or the part of the country he is from. |
Bravo. This is a very good step by GEJ, corrupt ministers will find it very difficult to embezzle or inflate funds for projects, because Iweala is an expert in calculating how every dime is spent on govt projects. But I would like her to help strengthen the war against corruption. Waziri (EFCC BOSS) should be sacked with immediate effect, corruption has risen to its peak since she took office, she is fighting corruption with sentiments. GEJ should look for a pragmatic radical to head the EFCC. There is no way Iweala can work with Waziri as the EFCC boss. Waging a successful war against corruption is the most vital step towards a robust economy. |
Very sad and discouraging. So Mercy couldn't find a man with a better reputation to marry, despite her little money and fame. Well, Christ Embassy should be very very very careful, if they conduct this marriage for Mercy and her questionable husband to be, I wonder what Chris Oyakhilome would be preaching about MARITAL FAITHFULNESS. |
Some nairalanders are not matured enough to be a nairalander. @Mr Cork, you are right. It is one of those truth many nigerian guys dont want to hear. Nigerian women prefer U.K/U.S based guys because of their ability to control english language with a stylish accent. They dont really spend for women, naija women just want to hear their big big english and be proud they are going out with a U.K or U.S guy. But if same women are tired of their big english and want to settle down, they will now focus on home base guys. |
Why do people always refer to God as a good God? Anything that is good can become better, and whatever may become better may become best. God cannot be referred to as "Good", "Better", or "Best", because He is above all things. If a man says God is wise, the man is lying because anything that is wise can become wiser. |
In Nigeria today, we have so many traditional leaders whose influence and respect can never be underestimated, even by top political leaders. My Question is, which of these traditional leaders in Nigeria today are the most influencial and respected? |
I dont really know what is wrong with some Nigerians sometimes. We have not even survived the challenges facing us all as a nation with this present administration, we're busy vying and debating about 2015. because of the bad health care, insecurity, epileptic power supply, bad roads, e.t.c many Nigerians wont even see 2015. Lets talk on how to help this present administration succeed, so we can all smile into 2015 with a better candidates, regardless of where they emerges from. |
We shouldn't blame Mercy or other celebrities who married already married men. Life is not easy for them, and very different from what they act on screens. We should know that African culture don't regard or respect over exposed women. Husbands are very rare to find, Mercy should be happy she found one, despite exposing to the entire world every part of her body. |
Very disappointing that GEJ finds single term as the most important issue in the country at the moment. He ought to have delivered on some promises he made to Nigerians before concerning himself with single term issues. Nigerians are very angry with this term elongation, even if Nigerians like the idea, it is certainly not the right time for it. |
