The President has nothing to smile about. Instead of cementing his legacy of superintending over the most transparent, free & fair elections in Nigeria's history, he has chosen to give us the most violent and desperate elections in recent memory. However change is inevitable Mr President. Rig as much as you can. The courts shall right your atrocities.

PoliticsInsurgency: Jonathan Accuses Media Of Lying, Says ‘i'm Winning Terror War’ by Donmams(op): 4:52pm On Nov 21, 2014
President Goodluck Jonathan says contrary to media reports, his administration is winning the war against the outlawed Boko Haram terrorist group.

Speaking on Friday in London at the opening of the meeting of Nigeria's Honorary International Investment Council (HIIC), Jonathan said the Armed Forces and security agencies were making steady gains in recovering areas recently taken by Boko Haram insurgents.

According to him, the Federal Government and the security agencies are working very hard to ensure that the Boko Haram's ability to capture and hold any Nigerian territory is ended very soon.

"We're improving on security. For about a week now, there have been no reports of Boko Haram seizing more territory. Rather, we're steadily pushing them back. The impression being created by sections of the media that the situation is worsening is not true. I can assure you that it will never get worse", he said.

The president also solicited greater support from the National Assembly for his government's efforts toward curbing terrorism and insecurity in Nigeria.

He told the gathering that to be successful, leaders must take decisions based on adequate information and sound advice, saying "having had the personal benefit of interacting with you all as vice president and president since 2007 has helped me a lot".

Jonathan said he had offered himself as a candidate in Nigeria's next presidential elections because he was convinced that with four more years in office, he would be able to further consolidate the positive national reforms initiated by his administration and take them to an irreversible point for the good of all Nigerians.

PoliticsU.S Wants Ihejirika’s Sudden ‘billions’ Probed by Donmams(op): 5:58pm On Sep 22, 2014
A former Chief of Army Staff, General Azubuike Ihejirika is in the cross
hairs of the United States as that nation is insisting that the former
army top gun be probed for alleged diversion of funds meant for the
procurement of weapons and other warfare equipment meant for the army.
Pointblanknews.com sources hinted that Ihejirika who arguably one of the
wealthiest retired Generals allegedly pocketed billions of naira meant for
the Army.
According to our source, the US Ambassador to Nigeria, James Entwistle
raised the issue when he met recently with President Goodluck Jonathan in
Abuja.
Ambassador Entwisle at the meeting at the Presidential Villa, said the U.S
is particularly concerned about the sudden riches of Ihejirika.
Ihejirika, who was fingered as one of the sponsors of Boko Haram by the
Australian hostage negotiator, Davies, is the front-runner for the Abia
state Gover‎norship seat.
Pointblanknews.com learnt that the US Ambassador told Jonathan that the
Americans who were in Nigeria to assist in the fight against insurgents
were shocked to find out that what was on ground did not match the
billions allocated under Ihejirika’s watch.
There have been pockets of grumbling amongst the army rank and file over
obsolete and some times lack of top shelf weapons. This boiled over when
some soldiers mutinied against a General. Those soldiers were court
martialed and sentenced to death.
In 2012 alone the defence budget for capital expenditure was N34.36
Billion‎ with a whooping N5.71 Billion earmarked for the acquisition
of equipment by the Army.
U.S President Barack Obama or the Secretary of state, John Kerry is
expected to discuss the issue with Jonathan at some close sessions during
the United Nations General Assembly.
The alleged rot and high level corruption in the military, sources said,
has affected the morale of the Americans who here as technical partners
and advisers.
Entwistle, it was learnt told Jonathan, every top military officer should
be held accountable if he wants the US to be part of the fight against
insurgents.
Pointblanknews.com also gathered that the high level corruption, contract
inflation and purchase of obsolete equipment and arms cut across the three
services.
This rot made Defence minister General Aliyu Gusau to insist that every
contract or procurement must pass through his office. Curiously, this move
did not go down well with the service chiefs who had hitherto enjoyed
autonomy.
Said our source ” the Americans want Ihejirika and his cohort probed. They
are insisting that the Government must hold thieving Generals accountable
if Nigeria wants them to be part of the fight against Boko Haram”
“The Ambassador expressed his nations unhappiness with what Ihejirika did
with the billions allocated to the Army. They are insisting he be probed.
We all know he is one of the riches retired Generals‎ around. He
made billions that is why he wants to be Abia Governor,” said our source

EducationCandidates Records 74.3% Pass In NECO by Donmams(op): 6:26am On Sep 11, 2014
The National Examination Council (NECO) has recorded an improved result in its 2014 June/July Senior Secondary School Examination (SSCE), even as it blacklisted 16 schools and six supervisors for examination malpractice.

The registrar of NECO, Prof. Promise Okpala, disclosed yesterday at a news conference to release the 2014 SSCE result that 74.3 per cent of the candidates who sat for the June/July Senior Secondary School Examination (SSCE) passed with five credits and above as against 69.8 per cent in 2013.

Similarly, he stated that 52.2 per cent of the candidates scored five credits including Mathematics and English Language as against 48.7 per cent in 2013.

Okpala said that out of the 978,886 that sat for the examination, 727,389 had five credits and above, while 511,931 scored five credits and above this year as against 500,306 in 2013.

He also disclosed that the level of malpractice in this year’s examination has gone down, adding that the level of malpractice this year is 0.44 per cent as against 0.80 per cent in 2013.

According to him, 4,343 cases of malpractice were recorded this year while in 2013 8,307 cases were recorded, about a 50 per cent reduction across the country.

The registrar disclosed that 16 secondary schools had been de-recognized for three years while six supervisors were blacklisted for being involved in examination malpractice.

The registrar stated that the level of pass has increased even though Nigeria Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC) has developed a new curriculum for senior secondary schools and was approved by National Council of Education (NCE) for implementation with 34 entrepreneurship subjects.

He said that the introduction of the subjects has expanded the NECO syllabus from 40 to 76 subjects, thereby increasing the cost of conducting examinations with increased personnel and days of examination.

Okpala said that, notwithstanding, NECO has been able to release the results within 62 days after the last paper.

Nairaland GeneralGov Chime’s Ostrich, Monkey Attack Police Man, Civilian by Donmams(op): 6:11am On Aug 18, 2014
Enugu State Governor, Sullivan Chime’s ostrich and monkey turned violent and attacked a police officer attached to the Government House, Enugu while the monkey assaulted a civilian at the Governor’s lodge recently.

The medical director of the Government House Medical Centre, who is also the personal physician to the Governor, Dr. Anthony Ogbonna made this revelation during the hearing at the panel investigating the allegations against the deputy governor, Mr. Sunday Onyebuchi, who is facing impeachment.

Dr. Ogbonna confirmed that the ostrich injured the police man whose name and rank he said he could not remember except he saw his records. He said the ostrich came from the Governor’s lodge and attacked the police officer who was later treated at the Government House medical Clinic.

But when told by Onyebuchi’s lawyer, Chief Chris Aghanwa that the ostrich inflicted serious head injury on the police officer, Dr. Ogbonna retorted: “There was a laceration that we stitched. It was not a head injury.”

Speaking about one of the staffers, Ebuka Abu, who was reportedly bitten by the Governor’s monkey that suddenly became violent, the doctor confirmed the incident, saying: “I am aware that somebody was attacked by a monkey,” although he added that he was unaware of the victim’s name. He emphasized that both the monkey and ostrich came from “the Governor’s compound” before they attacked their targets.

Asked whether it was right to keep monkeys as pet considering that other medical doctors have reeled out some of the causes of the dreaded Ebola disease, and if indeed, monkey is one of the causes, the medical director replied: “Yes. It is a domesticated monkey.” He quickly added that the wild monkeys also cause the Ebola disease. “Yes; the wild ones. After the incident of biting by the monkey, the monkey was removed,” he explained.

He said after the incident, he did not report it to the Enugu State House of Assembly. “No, I did not,” he said.

Dr. Ogbonna, who said he was attached to the clinic since 1994 also confirmed that aside the monkey and ostriches, there were other creatures such as antelopes, horses, cows, goats owned by the governor within the Government House premises.

According to him, there is a veterinary doctor attached to the Government House whose duty is to take care of the animals.

PoliticsBoko Haram: UK Report Indicts FG Of War Crimes by Donmams(op):
A report by a British newspaper,Daily Independent, UK, has accused the Nigerian government of allegedly committing war crimes by terrorising some of its citizens in its battle against the deadly Boko Haram sect.

Relying on a documentary it said will be broadcast this night, the paper reported yesterday that human rights investigators believe that 4,000 people have died in military custody since Boko Haram began its attacks in Nigeria two years ago.

According to the report, while Nigeria is currently Africa’s biggest economy, in the North which serves as home to most of the nation’s 80 million Muslims and the heartland of the Islamist extremist group, the people are among the poorest in the country.

It noted that the Boko Haram sect had killed more than 2,000 people this year alone, most of them civilians.

It further stated that the Nigerian Army took control of local militias, young Muslim men who had gathered together to help identify Boko Haram members living in their communities, adding that President Goodluck Jonathan hailed this militia as “new national heroes.”

The report further alleges: “The militias armed themselves with machetes, cutlasses and even bows and arrows. They adopted the official title “Civilian Joint Taskforce.”

In their hunt for the insurgents, the militia swept through remote towns and villages, even in communities where they had little local knowledge.

“The militia used these tactics in a town called Dikwa, around the start of Ramadan 2013 and filmed some of their operations. The videos show the militia acting as if everyone was a potential terrorist.

Other videos suggest little hard evidence was used to identify Boko Haram suspects.

Instead they denounced individuals on the basis of bizarre clues: thorns in the sandals from being in the bush; bruises supposedly caused by carrying guns or even a suspicious expression”.

Politics‘Lai Mohammed Detained For Abusing Jonathan’ by Donmams(op): 5:57am On Aug 17, 2014
An affidavit deposed to by Ibrahim Olowopopo, the driver of the national publicity secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Lai Mohammed, before an Osun State high court sitting in Oshogbo, has revealed that Mohammed was arrested during the Osun gubernatorial election for allegedly being in the habit of abusing President Goodluck Jonathan.

In a 14-paragraph affidavit deposed to by Olowopopo, who drove the car that conveyed the applicants from Lagos to Oshogbo, alleged that the event occurred on August 8, 2014, about 9pm, while they were on their way to the Government House to meet with Governor Rauf Aregbesola to honour an appointment.

Lai Mohammed, Salisu Shuaibu, Sunday Dare and Ibrahim Olowopopo (applicants) have jointly instituted a “fundamental rights enforcement” suit before the Osun State High Court, accusing the DSS of political witch-hunting and victimisation.

They have slammed a N500 million suit against the DSS for their alleged arrest and detention by agents of the service during the just concluded governorship election in Osun State.

Specifically, the applicants alleged in the suit, which is expected to be formally filed by their counsel, M. A. Banire & Associates, on Monday, that one of the reasons they were arrested by the DSS as allegedly claimed by one of the officers who arrested them was because the APC publicity secretary “was in the habit of abusing President Goodluck Jonathan”.

Apart from seeking a N500 million compensation for the illegal and unconstitutional violations of their fundamental rights, the applicants also want the court to order the respondents to tender a public apology to them.

They are also praying the court for a declaration that their arrest and detention by officers of the respondent on August 8 and 9, 2014 was unconstitutional, illegal, null and void and in violation of their fundamental right to personal liberty as guaranteed by section 35 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999.

The applicants are further demanding a declaration that their arrest and manhandling by the respondent on days constituted a violation of their freedom from torture, inhuman and degrading treatment as guaranteed by section 34 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999.

Some of the grounds on which the suit is based included: that the arrest, torture and inhuman treatment to which the applicants were subjected by officers of the respondent are definitely not approved by law as the applicants neither committed nor were they convicted of any offence to warrant such treatment by the respondent.

Also it states that the arrest, torture and inhuman and degrading treatment to which the applicants were subjected by the respondents were based on a frivolous allegation of loitering as later disclosed by the respondent’s spokesperson, Mrs Marilyn Ogar, in an interview on Channels television on Thursday, August 14, 2014, which offence is unknown to law.

PoliticsOccupy Social Media, Presidency Tells Supporters by Donmams(op): 6:46am On Aug 16, 2014
The presidency yesterday openly challenged the supporters of President Goodluck Jonathan all over the country and in the diaspora to use social media platforms to discuss President Goodluck Jonathan’s achievements, ahead of the 2015 general elections.

Special assistant to the president on Political Affairs, Prof. Rufa’i Ahmed Alkali, who spoke at the official inauguration of Friends Of Goodluck (FOG) yesterday in Abuja, said the president’s supporters were not supporting him enough on social media.

“When we go on social media we hardly see responses of Friends of Goodluck, what are we doing?” he asked, adding: “Friends of Goodluck should talk more positively about Nigeria, because Nigeria is our country and we have to defend it.”

Prof. Alkali who described FOG as the first group to approach him to be a member of the group, even before he was appointed as special adviser, assured them of recognition.

Also speaking, special assistant to the president on Ethics and Values, Dr Sarah Jubril, said in her keynote address, that the name of the organisation connotes that good Nigerians who believe in the dream of the present administration will always support Jonathan.

While making his remarks, chairman board of trustees of FOG, Col. Theophilus Bamigboye told the gathering that he was yet to fail at anything, thus he believes the present task of ensuring President Jonathan is re-elected, will be successful.

In his welcome address, director-general of the FOG, Hon. Tom Itua, said the mandate of the organisation is to help in building and reinforcing a solid core of support and goodwill for President Jonathan throughout the country, to actualise his re-election in 2015.

He revealed that FOG has put in place structures in all the 36 states and FCT, including the 109 senatorial districts, 774 local government areas and 8,809 registration areas throughout the country, that will enable the group focus on the electorate.

Bishop Juice: And Osun voting for an aboki is what you expected in the SS and SE?

OLODO
The 2011 election results were a wake up call for northerners. Many northerners were shocked when results showed Buhari getting less than 10,000 in each of the SS/SE states while in the north GEJ was being handed sympathy votes on a platter. GEJ got over 4 million votes in the north, in the process getting over 25% in most of the northern states. While buhari could not get 100,000 in the entire SS/SE. It became apparent to us that while the north is accomodating, the south, especially the SS/SE voting pattern showed utter disdain for the north. You will see retaliation in 2015
PoliticsWhy the SS/SE alliance will spell the downfall of GEJ in 2015. by Donmams(op):
That the SS/SE rigged the 2011 elections for Jonathan is not in doubt. However, prior to the 2011 elections, the North had so much confidence that Jega would do the right thing. But alas, Jega aided and abetted the massive rigging we saw in the 2011 elections by accepting the sham results given to him by the SS/SE.
Throughout the entire federation, the average voter turnout was 50% except for the SS/SE where the voter turnout average was 95(!)%. However, the North learnt a painful lesson in deception from the SS/SE and will not fall for the same trick twice. This is why the North will make sure in 2015, everyone comes out to vote. We will not tolerate voter turnouts of less than 90%. Where we can muster 100% voter turnouts we will surely do so. So this is what the results of the 2015 elections will probably look like and why i believe a Buhari/Tinubu ticket will sweep APC into Aso Rock in 2015.

Things to note: If according to these calculations;

1. The Entire South West were to vote for GEJ (PDP), he would still lose the election by about 200,000 votes.

2. If the entire north central were to vote for GEJ, he would still lose by nearly 4 million votes in 2015.

3. GEJ will need the votes of the entire South West and North Central to win in 2015(a highly unlikely scenario considering GEJ claimed it was the Igbos that voted for him in the North, i also doubt GEJ can offer the SW a bribe big enough to give him their votes in 2015 considering how he treated the region in the past 4 years).
4. A Buhari/Tinubu ticket will be hard for the PDP to destroy at the polls.

5. GEJ's administration has sidelined all two biggest voting blocs in the country aligning his region SS, with SE. The total votes of these two regions (15m) is 3 million less than the votes of the NW alone (18m).

6. It shows clearly that GEJ, playing the religious and ethnic card, needed the help of the NC and SW critically to win in 2015. However, he has strangely chosen to treat these two regions with utmost disdain.

Don't worry. The APC has no business with Enugu. We don't need Enugu to win the presidential elections. The north and south west have already formed an alliance. The South East and South South have their own alliance. The votes of the northwest alone will swallow the votes of the entire SS and SE. And yes make no mistake about it, average voter turnout in the north was 50% and Buhari still got 12 million votes. Voter turnout in the SS/SE was 95% and GEJ got 14 million votes from SS/SE. In 2015, we in the north will make sure we record 100% voter turnout. If Buhari got 12 million votes despite the 50% voter turnout in 2011, imagine how many votes buhari will get if we match the SS/SE in terms of voter turnouts of 90-100%. See you in 2015.

Sincere 9gerian: Evil people have now congregated in APC. If we can nuke APC now, over 50% of Nigeria's problem would have been solved.
So true. It is the APC government that has been ruling the country for the past 15 years. The APC government is in charge of the police, military and security outfits. Ever since the evil members of the PDP moved to APC, the PDP has been able to stop Boko Haram, prune government expenditure, install bullet trains, eradicate corruption, diversify the economy, create 16 million jobs, prosecute oil thieves, provide free education to tertiary level and raise power generation to 4 gigawatts. Yeah! Let's have more defections please.

It is up to the national assembly to correct this malaise. I'm not holding my breath though.

JECBOSS: If Buhari is APC's candidate, then It'll be a Smooth and Landslide victory for GEJ in 2015. Ride On, Mr President!
Sorry ehn. All your propaganda against Buhari has failed. You were all trying to hoodwink the APC into thinking that Buhari was unelectable. The decision makers know that Buhari, who got 12 million votes and won the entire north in 2011 is not unelectable. Add the ten million south west votes to buhari's ten million and it will be a landslide victory in 2015. You can dash yourselves 100% in the SS and SE. It will be inconsequential.
