Nigeria's anti-corruption war is "Turn by turn Nigeria Limited", according to Bode George. Guess it's Bankole's turn today. The onus is on him to prove himself a victim of witch/wizard haunting. |
I have read all sorts of report about studying and working in America (USA) and the United Kingdom. Severally, we have read about the escapades and sufferings of our young countrymen/women in a bid to make their lives and the lives of their immediate families better. . .only from the UK and the USA. I then ask, are there no other countries in Europe especially, where one can get world-class education? I know that the Nordic countries offer one the best education curricula on the planet yet no one mentions them. . .or are there no Nigerians/Nairalanders there? Same can be said of other EU country-blocks like the Low Countries. That brings me to my aim. I have a friend who got admitted to one of the top Belgian universities for an M.Sc programme. We have been gathering as much info as we can but there doesn't seem to be enough (about the country, the school, racism, student job, cost of living and so on). I then thought of this wonderful forum. We need first hand information about studying in Flanders area of Belgium and I believe that there are Nigerian students and also alumni from various Belgian universities. We are also interested in the quality of/regard for degrees obtained from such universities. Pls give us an insight people. |
I won't patronise u brother. It is not a sin to be intelligent but it is a very big sin to show off ur intelligence. I say this cos I am a victim of flaunting IQs. I have always been a teacher's delight all through my primary and secondary years but that was fun then. I did not even start showing off mine early. . .I only started in my first year in d university (and I had nothing else. . .no cash, no clothes, no attractive face and thus no inner connection with intimidated and outdated lecturers). I wud always sit back and "teach" other students as soon as d lecturers left d class. I corrected and argued with d lecturers. . .in fact, there was this 2nd year inorganic chemistry course that I was soooo into that in a class of about 500 students (a combined course) I wud stand up and practically lecture and intimidate the new lecturer. What was the result? D students wud understand my concept better and applaud me even when the poor woman (who loved me) was still standing on the podium. TERRIBLE! As soon as she left, a sea of confused sycophants wud flow towards my desk in that big hall for extra morals (my girlfriend would be beaming with smiles. . .my "intelligence" also attracted d most beautiful chicks within Natural Sciences and I stupidly fell for one in my own class!). A lot of OO students (kegites and cultists alike) wud want to be my friends during exams and I had this permanent handbag of a GF plus her group of friends to "carry along". I had "fame" brother but little or no regard. They sang my praises but I never realised they were killing my dream until we came back from IT. How did I get to know? some lecturers gave me Cs in some "A" courses and gave my course rep (who tagged along me like a bug) A's. The worst was the Physical Chemistry man who, story had it that he had his doctorate abroad but could not defend his thesis. . .he vented his anger on students and I had a fair share. Again, when it was time to get project supervisors, no lecturer rushed for me as they did for about two other intelligent guys plus my course rep. . .now, there is fire on d mountain. What did my ITK do for me? It cost me 1st class (and we had more than 3 1st class graduates. . .some approximated!) I came a close 4th in d class and I wept. So brother, be in the background and u won't regret it. . .show off and get female and OO distractions. This will definitely make lose points in exams and that is the only way intelligence without wisdom can hurt |
To think that he was not allowed a space for rallies and was forced to invent mobile stages for his campaigns, Rochas has proved he is loved by all. Another factor may be the desire of Imolites to move away from Ohakim's noise and brutality to a new place. I will not rule out the effect and followership of the Catholic Church whose priests were the object of stripping and beating d Ohakim thugs/security personnel. Congrats Imo |
the closest he can get is 2nd position. . .that is if SW don't vote for ACN. His arrogance has been stalling all talks of alliance that wud av tested d appeal GEJ has on Nigerians and d spread of PDP. Buhari is grossly overrated politically. |
ziccoit: . . .wetin u go find for my profile? lemme guess, to c my face, check weda I just join NL. Well, my face is dat of Janus. . .d Roman God of gates and yes, I've bn here for a while and only post wen I feel like. That said, I still believe (having looked both sides) that Nigeria is not yet hopeless. . .there is still hope. We can move her into better country. With d right kind of leadership, attitude and mindset, Nigeria can still be great. Look at it from d first coup in 1966; to d genocide called civil war (which Buhari was part of); to the many years of military rule (Buhari is still a signatory); to d past 12 years and to dis moment that d new generation of civilians (not soldiers) are taking over. . .There is still hope for Nigeria. BTW, those of u calling Nigeria's situation hopeless are still d ones clamouring for change. . .change to what, if I may ask? If d situation is so hopeless, y ask for change? Y not just stick to d status quo? |
agabaI23:Agaba my point is not whether d road has been fixed now, It has to do with wath d woman did while in power, to fix d road. . .NOTHING! she spent 2years without fixing d road after shedding a bucket of tears on it. a) Buhari is Cryingzeeleso, u failed to include dat Tinubu is now laughing. . .may be he hates Nigeria ![]() |
Dieziani Allison Madueke wept uncontrollably at d Benin-Ore Road in her early days as Transport Minister. Three years later, the road is yet to be put in order. I am not moved by d man's tears cos I have had course to weep for this country on a daily basis. Yes, I weep for Nigeria. Buhari just saw reason to cry today. I guess weeping in public is the new trend. . .I saw one Osun State ACN chieftain weeping before AIT camera 2days back. This man cried like a baby for about 5 minutes. Why was he crying? He claimed some political parties were trying to force ACN into meeting violence with violence. Buhari shud stop crying, we need articulate performers not mourners, Nigeria is not yet hopeless as we can still get it right and GEJ has shown us d way last saturday. If we can get elections, we can get corruption, power, education and unemployment. Don't vote crocodile tears vote performance. |
After Fashola's tenure, he will want an input on who succeeds him. This Tinubu will see as arrogance cos he is d one who "knows" what is good for yorubaland. This may breed rancor. Shud BRF decide to go to d senate, he needs to topple someone who may be Tinubu's person. . .there will b confusion. But if Saraki can fight his dad to a standstill, who says BRF can't do d same to Tinubu? |
I think ACN and southwest is playing the spoiler's game in this election. If there were no presidential candidate for ACN, SW votes (majority of) will go to PDP. Now there is a Ribadu who will not win, there is a possibility that d ACN lords wud not to want to be in d bad books of the new govt. . .so they need to take a chance that will get them closer to the centre. They can decide to go for Buhari or GEJ (win-win) cos there is a belief that anyone who gets majority SW (b/w GEJ and BB) wins d election. They may decide to cool down for GEJ, the surest way to d centre if u ask me. Tinubu shud recall his ordeal at d hands of OBJ (once bitten. . .) |
DeeJay20:well, I don't know about u but I simply hate sit-tights. . .Gbagbo and Ghadafi represent sit-tights. They are not d best their countries can offer at this time and they are overstaying. Let's try other hands, if they fail us, the people will still push them out. |
Very interesting piece of news here. . .I'm very happy. Pls when will Ghadafi fall? |
Buhari may even come third in d presidential elections if the outcome of the NASS elections is anything to go by. Most people here never believed INEC wud have a free hand to work as it did last saturday. So it is with a lot of Nigerians but GEJ has delivered on his promise. Most folks will fall for his sincerity of purpose and his humility (in letting OBJ fall from grace) and will vote him ahead of Buhari and Ribadu. As for Buhari winning his state and losing kano, Katsina had no other option, unlike 2007 when they had Yar'Adua; Kano has more of republicans, they even voted out Shekarau (I guess it is protest). That said, I have not seen any post congratulating GEJ for being "fair" even to a hurting extent. That makes me think of the kind of comments I wud av read had d elections looked like the 2003/2007 episodes. The guy means well for Nigeria and as such deserves votes and support. Goodluck Nigeria |
debrief08:Nothing justifies detention of any human being for as long as 4 days without going to to court but u just said a bill was passed even though it is a kagaroo one. Again, those journalists mention in my post were not justifying the detention by d gov of his political opponent. Gbenga and Kunle championed the cause of Save Nigeria Group, leading to the emergence of an Acting President and also gave them every coverage even after their true identity as Buhari's forerunners became common knowledge. |
From Sandokaa; Most Naija journalists are cheap, greedy and conscience-less. Just check out the reports they dish out on the 2011 elections. And to think that they are the same people behind BON/NEDG stuff. Nigerians can now see why the other aspirants boycotted the debate. Even, political platform on Raypower and Focus Nigeria on AIT are beginning to sound like government apologists. Enedu Aniagu of political platform lost my respect totally when he justified the rough-handling of Apanudoedehe, the ACN gubernatorial candidate in Akwa Ibom by the police. Same for Aruleba, who engaged the candidate's lawyer in a manner that suggested a compromise, a few weeks back. Shame, shame, shame. It appears all institutions for checks and balances have compromised!@Sandokaa; I have bn resisting d urge to post on this thread as I find it confused and confusing but your apparent reasoning that mentioning names of your "enemy" presenters will make u an authority in d field of biased journalism weakened my resolve. For all it's worth, Ehiedu is d man who brings d needed balance to issues discussed on Political Platform. U cry about d rough-handling of Senator Apanudoedehe forgetting that he had always been in govt as a staunch member of d much loathed PDP. For your info, a lot of people lost their lives in violence allegedly instigated by your man and u want us to believe that his freedom is worth more than the lives of fellow Nigerians. Both govt and personal properties were vandalised his supporters. All Ehiedu said amounted to giving d Police d benefit of d doubt. . .that d Police being law enforcers may have reasons to still re-arrest him even after charges of treason had been dropped/quashed. Talk about d man, where were u when Ehiedu spoke against Hon Doris Uboh. . .his rep (after d PDP primaries)? Where were u when they all were carpeting Suswam, Igbinedion, Alams and T.A. Orji? As for Gbenga, U seem to forget that he had d same court judgment which d lawyer was interpreting to suit his cause. He was doing what he knows how to do best. . .giving follow-up questions to show d futility if any, of your argument. That lawyer chose to be beating about d bush instead of supplying d clear-cut answers needed to clear d air after scores of people were killed and property worth millions destroyed allegedly by his client's supporters. If u talk about being govt apologist, where were u when Gbenga took it upon himself to see an end to Iwu's tenure? Atleast Iwu then was a govt baby. Do I mention Ayoka Adebayo and Timipre Silva, Gbenga Daniel, OBJ and so many others, whom Gbenga took a stand against (even when they controlled d govt)? My advice, Keep it cool. . .don't talk for d fun of it. Some of us here follow d trends and programs in our mass and print media as well. |
This has always been my line of argument. Nigerians esp southerners will vote based on 50% personality, 30% ethnicity and 20% party affiliation. That said, I still think that the 80% given to GEJ is an exaggeration. I wud rather put it at 70% and with that, he win d elections. |
the fear of Japan-like misfortune i guess. . .but things are definitely not d same |
Barack Obama, the US president, has formally announced his 2012 re-election bid, saying the country needed "to protect the progress" it had made.http://english.aljazeera.net/news/americas/2011/04/201144112718582657.html |
The whole amnesty issue (especially as being currently executed) looks to me like rewarding evil for good and allowing the good ones (law-abiding citizens) to wallow in govt-inflicted abject poverty. How can we send militants to train as pilots in SA when it's like a camel passing tru d eye of a needle for an intelligent young Nigerian of humble background to enter CAT, Zaria for same training? |
Peter should just retire before he is turned into a bowl of POUNDED YAM. Africans don't know when to call it quits. ![]() |
GEJ's sin according to his opponents is his perceived inaction but that will not make Nigerians vote a worse personality who may act wrongly. |
Gosh! I can't believe a thread like this existed for more than a year and I was wasting time in politics section. Well, I don't blame myself I was deceived into working in a bank even with a pure science degree. Then I left home 5:30 am and came back 9:30 pm. . .no time for relaxation except laughing it off in d politics of naija. Mehn! I am very informed reading less than half of the entries here. Guess i need a scholarship. . .even if not in the US, any other country with good academic standards will do. @ebogentle, pls if u are still on this thread i need a push from u. . .or anyone with adequate knowledge on scholarships available to Nigerian masters degree students (I did PTDF last year but was not chosen) |
^^^ online polls u said? and who is online? what % of Nigerian voters are online? What % of online Nigerian voters live in Nigeria? and finally what % of locally-resident online Nigerian voters will actually leave their houses/estates to queue up and vote? Solve d above puzzle and get back to bed. . .DREAM IS SOOO SWEET! |
10cirenoh:U know nothing of Borno politics. SAS/GAS might install whoever but GEJ will win Borno. . .mark it down |
I am really interested in this! pls inbox me tips, if u can't share them here: kuulmc@yahoo.com thanks |
^^^ like I said, the guy made some typos. . .so "attand" and "fult" are just d typos I meant. So y include the one one he got right in order to nail him on d altar of grammar? As for "odechukwu, olodo, shameless and i'diot", well what can I say? I think they apply to to u squarely in this case. Look well next time b4 u leap. . .a piece of intellectual advice. |
Eko Ile:so u confirm it was in your haste to vilify a GEJ supporter that u ended up making a big FOOOL of your frustrated self? Good of u. The guy made some typos, u saw them but never really knew Nigeria speaks Queen's English (leading to your inclusion of "organise" as one of them. . .cos your computer dictionary highlighted it for u as misspelled). Now that I have lectured u handsomely, wouldn't u thank me? U Americans can be pompous! NB: Tekepama is not the same as Donmeca or are u also blind? |
Eko Ile:Here I come again; Donmeca:Is the use of "organise" in place of "organize" wrong and does it ultimately make d user a dunce? |
Eko Ile:Does this answer any of my posers or are u willingly being evasive? U guys were accusing GEJ of not answering questions correctly. Answer me, is that u don't know or in ur haste, u ridiculed ur proud self? |
Typical dunce GEJ olodo fan,@Eko Ile; u called someone a dunce and highlighted the word "organise" as one of your reasons. I then ask; it that spelling wrong or are u so illiterate that u don't know that we have UK and USA spellings of certain English words. . .or that Nigeria speaks English courtesy of United Kingdom (and not USA)? As such the correct spelling of the word in Nigeria is and should be "ORGANISE" My problem with u emotional people is that u must curse someone and when d person is without blemish, u manufacture a fault or two to show your superiority and land your powerless curse on him/her. |
^^^ was that y Shekarau, Ribadu and Buhari failed to attend the BON debate? They feared d questions wud be too lame for their high level of intelligence, which is in tune with the NN24 IQ test? |
ovo4u:come Ovo4u, is this english or dutch?. . .and u are here calling ur president "foolish". Pls write in ur mother tongue next time. . .or preferably, pidgin. |
