I strongly believe part of the heavy fees they demand for is for lobbying Judges.

If a lawyer collects as much as 100 million naira for a case, what stops him from using 40-50% of that to settle the judge and then wins the case. He can then go on and receive additional cases, and settle judges to also win those ones. And the cycle just continues like that.

And he will keep on receiving more clients, as people will erroneously think the guy is a very good lawyer.

Security agencies need to beam their search light on the legal profession if we are to have an headway on this fight on corruption.

The Pan-Yoruba socio-political Organisation, Afenifere, has lambasted President Muhammadu Buhari over his handling of the allegations against the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Babachir Lawal.

National Publicity Secretary of the organisation, Yinka Odumakin, frowned at the President’s decision to absolve Lawal of corruption against him.


Speaking on the issue, Odumakin said, “It is tragic that a presidency, whose sole credential is anti – corruption, would treat a monumental allegation against one of its principal officials this way.

“The Presidency that has all the time to investigate the number of committee members , who did not sign a report, could not find time to investigate the grass -cutting activities of the SGF . It is the lowest low for the anti -corruption war. ”

Recall that the senate had called for Lawal’s arrest and prosecution, following an Interim Report by its ad-hoc committee on mounting Humanitarian crisis in the North East which indicted him of fraud.

In the report, the committee alleged that Lawal who is the Chairman of the Presidential Initiative of the North East, PINE, awarded contracts to a company which he has link to.


But the President, in a letter read on the floor of the senate by the Senate President on Tuesday rejected the call by the upper legislative house, citing some infractions in the report.

However, senator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sanu, who heads the senate’s Ad-Hoc Committee, equally expressed disappointment at the presidency’s response to the committee’s report.

A Kenyan head teacher identified as Willy Kiprop, has been disgraced openly for allegedly defiling three school girls under his care in Kapsaos, Uasin Gishu area of Kenya.



Kiprop was said to have enticed the girls aged 12, 14 and 16 respectively with some gifts.

In a video shared by K24TV, Kiprob was tied on both hands and legs and made to lie on the floor while the parents of the abused girls took turns to flog him mercilessly.

Asked why he abused the girls sexually, Kiprop claimed he had an ‘affair’ with the eldest, ‘but molested the two others.’

He claimed he was possessed by Satan, saying: “Adrenalin rush!

“Also, the devil paid me a visit at the time,” he added.

After the caning session, Kiprop was handed over to the police who untied him and handcuffed him instead.

The report added that the police will investigate and charge him to court.
