That is exactly where Abubakar missed a big trick after Abacha's death. That was the best chance. But as a Northerner, he won't do that.

Of course entrenched interests including NASS won't allow it currently.

Apart from greed, in their sumptuous mansions and privileged life, they don't realise just how tense, charged and fragile the country is. Or they chose not to care.

This aloof disposition is the biggest danger. When all comes crashing down, the situation in Somalia & Congo-Zaire combined will be like a mere picnic in millennium park. shocked shocked

Thats true..Abubakar could have done so but eish..that mental illnesss that goes with governance in Nigeria known as Greed and Corrupt Syndrome GCS, is a panacae.

We have what it takes to be a great nation, endowed with human and natural resources yet we are not psycholigically balanced to see the blessings and utilising same for a
much greater future for all.

Perhaps just perhaps..regional administrations might be the way out once and for all.

But Tam David West just told him that restructuring 9ja means break-up. If an SS person who should know the injustice of this current centralised system says that publicly, can you imagine what other influential people from other regions will be telling Buhari in private?

Even if we produce 8m barrels a day at $70 and the politicians use the money judiciously, 9ja will still be a country of poor people for a long time. Let alone under 4m b/d at $40 that is even embezzled.

Recurrent expenditure at all tiers of govt is way too much. Don't even get me started on ghost workers.

A restructured regional system with regional Premiers/Prime ministers will abolish all the legions of governors, commissioners, SSAs, SAs, department heads, agency heads, etc. Regional parliament instead of lots of State Assemblies.

Cities/LGs will get mayors/LG chairmen/women to administer municipal councils and districts, with councillors at ward level.

We can save much money that will go into capital projects, research, education/training, health, etc

This for me could be the very last stroke needed to help Nigeria regain economic relevance... however that is provided:-
1. Nigeria would remain as one emtity ( which personally im becoming doubtful of)
2. The league of vultures amd vampires in that couldron we call House of Senate would kill this bill on arrival.
Wardrobe allowance, brand new SUVs and other sundry benefits that goes with being a senator, with little or nothing to show for the electorate wont allow the will for such.
3. The presiding governors security votes and unending white elephant projects, frivolous pillaging of states allocation with imputiny,etc... could all this ills be done away with to allow reasoning set in for effective regional governance?

Like i said, your poser would be the very last stroke.

The Naira was over-valued since......
As it stands now, the smartest thing to reverse that trend is to further mark up the dollar to N400 and give tax paillaitives to companies, social buffers to Nigerians in terms of mass transport, housing schemes, food availability and quality education

For a while this have been ringing in my head. Ghana did same especially with yhe tax palliative thingy.....why cant we?

The court-validated Chairman of Trade Union Congress (TUC), Kolawole Olaiya, urged the EFCC to probe the whereabouts of the N9.6 billion bailout money released for the payment of workers, pensioners and past political office holders.
So where did Fayose get his own TUC chairman, Comrade Adesoye Odunayo?

Very soon, he will show the world how EFCC officials came to beg him. Shiorr.

Unethical and unprofessional sharp practises would lead anyone and everyone to this condition eventually.Public ridicule!!!

I am certain if Fayose demand those men ( family men o that would be making gragra for junior staffs) to pull down their panties and stick their fingers openly in their butts, while the photographer takes snaps, they would do so.

I ask you readers, can you entrust your investment and proceeds with men such as this and the financial institution they represent?

I was reading last night Akpabio had withdrawn over N1 billion from one of their branches yesterday and many more are doing same.

CBN governor will soon be a guest at EFCC and Every other managers involved in this.
You can Imagine gow those young men at EFCC would grill old men with embarrassing questioning?

They want us to forget all this and move forward and face the economy. What is left to go forward with ?

Nigeria is actually a very strong country. Billions of dollars siphoned from the economy and we are still standing.

A Professor in a University as at January 2015 is on CONUASS 7 (N4,580,349 – N6,020,163.00) per annum.

Let us take the highest boundary 6,020,163.00.

Fayose a useless OND drop out collected approximately 1,200,000,000.00 and put it in his personal account.

So a Nigerian Professor will earn that money in 199 years. If Government decide to continue to pay him even after death.

Rather than concentrate on high price of Tomato and 145 fuel price alone, while they steal to build refinery and tomato paste factory.

We should support the Government to recover or prosecute anybody who stole our YAM.

You see how Nigerians are oozing and stinking of corruption?

Jimoh Ibrahim knows fully well with the "clean bill of health" issued in writing to his company by the very same crop of crooks in UBA who very well knew this very same man took a loan and yet to complete refund, certified him clean. He is going to walk free.

Thank God for giving us Buhari at this time and moment. We are suffering undue harsh times and the economy is biting hard with all the current ' exercises ' or shall i term it " Exorcism", however the foundation for a much better living for all..and i mean all categories of citizen must be broken down and rebuilt.

Career / Re: Soldiers Write Chief Of Army Staff Over Illegal Deduction Of Their Salaries by donodion(m): 11:08am On Jun 18, 2016
AdamsToyin:
Soldiers of the 1 Division of the Nigerian Army, headquartered in Kaduna, have cried out that their monthly salaries are being deducted by the Army Finance Department without explanations. Their outrage is contained in a letter to the Director of Army Finance Accounts (DAFA). The letter, exclusively obtained by SaharaReporters, said the unexplained deductions have gone on for 17 months.
According to the letter, a staff sergeant, who is on a monthly salary of N73,500 is docked N8,500 monthly, leaving him with N65,000.
Sergeants, who should earn N65,000 have been having N7,000 deducted without explanation, leaving them with a take-home pay of N58,000. Corporals entitled to N58,000 monthly are being paid N52,000, while Lance Corporals are paid N49,000 instead of N52,000 as prescribed by the Army salary structure for officers in that category.
In the letter, the soldiers called on the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai, to look into their complaints.
Some of the affected soldiers serving in 1 Brigade Sokoto, 35 Battalion, and 3 Brigade Kano told SaharaReporters that there is anger within the lower cadre in the I Division.
“I am a corporal, and my monthly salary, which is supposed to be N58,000:00 has been slashed to N52,000. I was given a letter signed by Brigadier General C.O Udeh, the then Commander of the 1 Brigade, Sokoto, to the Finance Department of 1 Division, Nigerian Army in Kaduna, but the complaint received no response,” said a soldier.
Some soldiers also lamented that they were promoted to the next rank since September 1, 2014, and 2015 respectively, but they are still being paid salaries on account of their previous ranks.
A soldier promoted to the rank of sergeant on 1 September 2015 said he was paidN1,990 as his promotion arrears on 30 January 2016. He also complained that he is still being paid the old salary even after he was paid the measly promotion arrears.
The affected soldiers include those carrying gunshot injuries sustained while on deployment to "Operation Zaman Lafiya," which has been renamed "Operation Lafiya Dole."

Believe me I was shocked into complete paralysis. I looked at the man I was managing thinking maybe I was hallucinating the entire episode and a gasping man wasn't under my hands. But There he was.

I ensured the severest punishment for her attitude was given to her ( not complete disqualification) but even my HOD who had never heard my voice above a certain pitch heard me scream when I was reporting the case.

I asked for her dismissal but was said to be too angry on that issue. Well the man survived. I know what I went through, how many times I ran from home to the hospital at night because of him, because that is what I am paid to do.

I think it a thing of pride were patients ask to see me personally just because of the attention I give to them. I am not blowing my trumpet. Just today alone I have gotten 3 bottles of wine and a package which contains imported tomatoes and other stuff from walk in patients.

This is what I live for.

We need to know why we are doing what we do. I always assume my patient to be my relative, some can be annoying but nobody goes to a mechanic to check a well functioning car.

Thank you bro, thank you bro thank you bro...ive left home now for a while and i cant imagine how BAD our health system runs ....i was reading drerdd post and was shaking with mixed emotions... anger and sadnness....

Aregbesola is another South West ' State Administrator' a.k.a Governor, that is deemed incapable of safely and successfully running the affairs of Osun state.
If this wont spark religious crisis in Osun and spread like wild fire around SW, i see possibility of ethnic strife rising again.

Do people still remember the carnage of Ife-Modakeke crisis.... it took a form such as this when it started...We Vs Them.

Come.to think of it....religious crisis has ALWAYS been Christian Vs Moslems....while the Traditional practitioners have never been heard of creating massive social unrest such as this two religious groups....Why?
