You are quite right. But just to be a bit pendatic, the sun is not massive enough to go supernova at its end of life. It would expand into a red giant that will consume the earth before cooling and contracting to a white dwarf.

If hell is real, then God is a saddistic monster that I cannot bring myself to love and worship.
But since God is love, I just cannot see how a place of such horror can exist.

God by definition is uncreated. But let us suppose that you are right that if God created the universe, then God was created by a second God. This would imply that the second God was in turn created by a third, and so on till infinity.
Now, remember that in mathematics however large a number is, subtracted from infinity, the answer is still infinty.
So we can dispens with all the intermediate Gods and still be left with the uncreated infinite God.

Interesting note from Hawking - if the universe is created by positive energy from the big bang balanced out by the corresponding negative energy stored in space (i.e +ive E + -ive E = 0), then you dont need God to create the universe? Interesting postulation without any shred of evidence. Kinda like saying . . . since we dont know what caused the big bang itself then God must exist.

Supposing that Hawkins was right in saying that the universe was created by +ve energy from the big bàng balanced out by the corresponding -ve energy. This would imply that the creation of the universe represents a lowering of the state of entropy in the system.
And from the laws of thermodynamics such reduction in the state of entropy can only occur if work is done on the system from an external enviroment.
Hawkins argument is like saying that the cold generated by a heat pump such as a refrigerator is balanced by the heat it expels from its radiators, as such neither a fridge nor work is required to seperate the heat from the cold.

I do not agree with the op's claim that the universe is self existent, but to say that life can exist on earth without the sun is absolute rubbish.
If not for the sun the earth would have been at a temperature of 2.73k which would make it too cold to for liquid water to exist anywhere on the planet. Even regions of geothermal activities would be rock solid at that temperature.
So while you are right in saying that some niche ecosystem on earth that are not directly dependent on the sun for survival, you are wrong in thinking that their environment will continue to remain the same long after the sun ceases to exist.

How does your reply square with the fact that majority of muslims polled are in support of death for apostacy?
Do not make the mistake of thinking that the fact that most muslims in the west lack the power to implement the sharia in its full glory doesn't mean it is not at the top of their wish list.
Ask most moderate muslims if good for the sharia to inpunish blashemers and apostate with death penalty, and their best reply is provided it is a muslim country then it is ok.
Then ask them if they want sharia in your country, and they will say; sure, it is the dream of every muslim to have sharia as the law where they are.

Hello frosbel, I would have agreed with you if I had not witnessed the ferocity with which muslims around the world protested the Danish cartoon. Even the moderates among them took to the streets and beseiged the embassy of many western nations calling for the heads of the publishers of the newspaper.
Moreover in muslim majority countries people are killed for the slightest perceived insult on Muhammad.
To know if islam is actually tolerant ask yourself how long you think the charlie hebdo publisher would be able to stay alive in the streets of a country with no radicalised extremist muslims where sharia law is practiced?

Then, I channelled the power of the holy spirit in me to envelope the plane before commanding with a loud voice for both engines to restart.
Na so both engines come take start to the surprise of the pilots and everyone on that flight.
That was how everybody come join me begin sing "Hosanna in the highest" as we continue to dey cruise at 870 km/hr at an altitude of 10.75km above sea level for almost 2800 km without fuel.
