Amigoz:What will a man do to get some below the belt action ![]() |
@Skyone Hahaha. . . You guys sha have time to surgically dissect someone's posts. . . If religion is the reason for the antagonism in the Middle East, I see no reason why it should be a stumbling block to an American base in Southern Nigeria where religious intensity is nowhere near as strong. Wherei n the world has America done any good you ask. Well as you are so good in dissecting, how about polling the two sides of the Korean divide and asking them whose sie they'd rather be on, the South Korean/American axis or the North Korean/Chinese side. And if you think America controls OPEC, then you my friend are the ignorant one. |
Jackal:It just shows how far down footballers are in the cerebral stakes ![]() |
After all is said and done though, I think there are good arguments that can be offered against the siting of an American base in Nigeria. The most obvious being the kaleidoscopic ethnic composition of Nigeria. In the event of internal conflict, God Forbid, the involvement of a foreign power might prove even more incendiary. |
@skyone I don't know why there is so much apprehension against some form of American presence. The reason why Arabs in the middle east are up in arms about American presence in their midst is largely for religious reasons and not for economic reasons. If American presence in Africa will lead to more trade with the Americans then it has to be welcomed as long as they are willing to pay a fair price for it. If anything the only unfair practice in the oil business is the operation of the OPEC cartel rather than American activity to protect supplies it is prepared to pay a fair price for. This a priori antagonism against American presence is frankly a bit childish. . . |
Did you see Messi's goal against Columbia.? This guy is almost unstoppable at times. Barcelona churns out Fabregas like players ever so often, but players like Messi come once in a generation. |
I do not usually cede to jingoism but: Get those blasted Camerounians off our land ![]() |
who is hotter you mean. . . hmmmmmm I must say I love the way Messi wiggles his bum LMAO ![]() |

Me I still maintain that the present force should not be retained in any form except for the most menial tasks. The hi tec stuff will only come when we address the basics. But the current deplorable situation needs some quick remedies. |
@ayanfe Remember the maxim about putting one's eggs in just one basket. . .don't |
Happy Turkey Day? Shit packing no dey give holiday o ![]() |

@debosky This problem with England's central midfield predates Scholes's retirement actually. For a long time now, England has lost to teams that play in a similar way to Croatia. The likes of Romania, Sweden have been pests to England. |
@illusion i would like to hear more on your views to strengthen the Local government system. I have suggested the same hitherto but others seem to think it is a no no. |
I have only one gripe with this article: Putting Reason/ratiocination in the same closet with religious terrorism/terrorists. |
@Debosky Jackal has been mobbed for not paying TV licence. Haba. . . I have been in this country now for over a decade and one thing we Nigerians-in-Uk know is to never open the door unless by prior appointment. ![]() |
Before we go to the hi tec stuff, how about sorting out the low tech end first. It might be boring in comparison, but it sure would make a whole load of difference. My suggestion: The present force is corrupt and compromised and beyond redemption. What is needed is heavy targeting operated by a specially trained quick response force that would attend to such matters of violence. They should have helicopters, communications equipment etc. And considering Nigerians are the most loquacious people on Earth, I see no reason why these gangs cant be infiltrated. Many of them will have constant hangout sopts, make a lot of noise etc. That make them vulnerable to espionage. Many innocent lives will be spared if we can preempt some of these crimes. The only thing stopping us from doing anything about this violence is the lack of political will aside the corruption. The mundane work of checkpoints and other menial tasks should be left to the present force |
Quite interesting I must say, and I am not one to usually gouge on gossip. |
Most times I do not look at America favourably, but on this one I err on the side of Kobo Kobo. . . The idea of an American base is not very attractive(postcolonialism and other such epithets) based on their previous record of sabotage and the likes but the present climate in my opinion is very much different from the suspicious and secretive world of the Cold War. Regime change and other such intrigues are significantly more difficult to carry out, except the botched but overt manner it was done in Iraq. Plus we cannot ignore the economic impact which this base will have wherever it is situated. Jobs are created, infrastructure is improved etc. And I see no reason why we cannot diversify our relationships. Having China as a major partner sans America is not an option. In fact I would suggest it is a disaster. China is no fairer than America when it comes to trade relationships, as they will demand their own pound of flesh. Dont be fooled by China's rapid progress. It is still largely an economy based on primary industries, the kind that Africa will soon start dominating once it gets its act together and foreign investors realise that Africa is the cheapest base to produce such goods. Then it might be the turn for the non democratic regime in China to start sabotaging our efforts. We must not allow our politicians as they are doing at present around the continent to shamelessly sell our souls to the most availaible bidder. While we will continue to get raped for a while yet, isnt it fair that the African LovePeddler drive a hard bargain. The best way to do that is to play this superpowers against each other. . . |
@topic Even copying and pasting that write up must have been tedious, let alone writing it. |
@kobojunkie That was meant to be humorous. Lost in Quranic Translation I guess. . . ![]() |
Like all legal systems around the world, we have imperfections some more pernicious, egregious and . . .(I-man help me out abeg ) than others. As for me sha, the woman brought it on herself. She revealed too much skin ![]() |
@nneneigbo what haterade infested water did you emerge from. . . ![]() Dont diss any Pompey players you hear or else. . . ![]() @topic The English stars have one fundamental problem. Their reliance on the long ball. They are almost victims of their own success. The likes of Gerrard, Beckham and Lampard in midfield are so adept at passes of up to 60 yards they tend to fall back on it too often. Last nite the ball went to the flanks too early. Lampard and Gerrard should have attracted more Croatian midfielders to the centre of the field with some short passing before releasing the ball to the flanks. Too often the recipient on the flanks was crossing under duress without much impression on the Croatian defenders. |
@OEPHIUS Dont sleep on the heat. They might even make the playoffs as long as Wade stays healthy. Afterall its the East where sub 500 teams make the playoffs. Best matchups are still the Texas teams with the full array of talent. I guess last nite's Rockets and Dallas matchup without TMac doesnt count. |
How anyone can agitate for more states when it is evident that what we have are redundant masses of civil servants in nonfunctioning units we call states, I do not know. |
youngdigi abeg do u have walakolombo. i checked on the funafric site. No luck relieve my hunger abeg ![]() |
Shows what you lot know about hiphop. Any list that doesnt include Illmatic is a non starter. . .Greatest Hip Hop Album ever. After that, we can start talking @n-guage looking forward to Lupe's album |
I wouldn't be worried about the dollars slide. I put it down to the activity of currency speculators especially from the hedge fund business. While the fundamentals support a devalued dollar, the markdown has been far too excessive. Expect a similar upward swing when the dollar starts to make its recovery. In the meantime, make una diversify o, as should have been the case from the start. |
Well if only he would win the French. Then he would be the undisputed. . . it was also my one gripe against Sampras. . .that the best he could manage was a semifinal at the French. I would put Bjorg above him for that reason : he won on the two surfaces at the time and consistentlyBut I am sure if Octopus had her way, Nalbandian would be contesting that post soon ![]() |
