For those waiting to cheat and looking for past screen-shoted questions, Shell recruitment is First come, First serve. Those who submit first will be considered and invited for next stage live interview promptly provided they meet d pass mark in each of d ability tests, personality questions and on-demand video.

Furthermore, if d number of people that have been preempted to be invited for next stage interview for each job position has been reached. Then even though u get 100% in all the questions and on-demand video, don't expect next stage interview invitation o.
You took that out of my mouth. I share your sentiments. I'm sure millions have applied and still counting. How will they even interview 2,000? So the best does not always get the job. The race is sometimes to the swift.

Nice words.

Lets hope they pass the budget soonest, I still believe that's the cause of the delay. Though some scholars might not be able to make Fall entry/September entry for UK schools with the delay.
Thanks boss.

If you have TA/RA, you wouldn't need PTDF unless it does not cover tuition.
Thanks.

In my case TA requires that you complete a semester before applying, while RA offers come in play after rigorous networking with professors while on campus.

What about getting other partial scholarships/fellowships, can they be kept alongside PTDF? These funds can come in handy esp for someone looking to do OPT after MSc or for someone considering a dual-master's.

Is it possible to hold PTDF scholarship plus some other financial aids say Fellowship from the school of your choice, TA/RA, etc?

I know PTDF says it is not allowed but do they really follow through?

Was there any provision for choosing Country or University during the application process?
I feel you - I have thought about the same thing, I only held back my fingers up until now.

As far as I can remember, there was no place to specify School/Country in the application forms save course of choice. So if someone now blasts the test and comes first in his/her state with his/her printed on the national dailies, would PTDF now deny him/her because he/she has Harvard admission and not a school in Germany or Brazil? Or will PTDF now push the person to free tuition schools when it clearly put Harvard as approved school on their website?

IMHO, I don't think anyone here sets questions for PTDF to be privy to what or what not they are going to set.

So, exploring all possible question types will not only make one better positioned to ace the test but also better intellectually.

One love.

I think i should mention, after much restrain, that you and others carrying this notion are in a sorry state of mind, with due respect. And i hope you will give chance to people who still have faith in the system to adequately prepare for the exam. Many of these people here will appear on next year's trend discussing on how to write the test again not because it is rigged but they kept rigmarolling instead of having 'just a little faith on the system, no thanks to the quoted text on this message. You must agree with me that the list brought out by Ptdf is merit ( about 175 of them). If the problem is how manage there are more people than 175 being sent for study, then maybe u need to know more. Ptdf scholarship board is a channel for awarding nysc presidental scholarship, tetfund, pressid of blessed memory and federal government scholarship or so. In as much as i agree with you in airing your opinion, i hope i have convinced a few people who would rather have been discouraged by comments like this. The system still works.
Hi,

You just made some salient points.

But your statement; "You must agree with me that...." is extreme. I and others on this platform MUST not agree with you on anything - people still have the freedom to believe what they choose however puerile it might seem to you. Yet, I AGREE with you on one thing: we should NOT become cynical of the system and totally dismiss it as disreputable. After all, most of us will be happy to still receive the PTDF scholarship, and I personally I'm thankful the fund is even set up in the first place. So, I'm of the opinion that we should NOT speak ill of the PTDF but that does not preclude constructive criticism of it where appropriate.

Nevertheless, Mr. Tundeloveday, you sound as though you are a past scholar of PTDF 'cos I figure that some of your views are no way garden-variety. Cheers!

Actually I know quite a number of overseas scholars that still have some hitches with their payment too. I'm beginning to lose hope in the whole ptdf thingy....after all the hype we used to hype them.
I'm not trying to sermonize but we are in the same boat and since you raised an open concern I'd just say you can't afford to lose hope. "Hope maketh not ashamed." And as they say: "When the going gets tough; only the tough gets going".
What country did you apply to? Are you considering other options like funding from the school such as RA/TA?

I leave you with these words that cheer me up when I feel weary sometimes about the NIGERIAN situation and they are words of George Bernard Shaw;

"People are always blaming their circumstances for what they are. I don't believe in circumstances. The people who get on in this world are the people who get up and look for the circumstances they want, and if they can't find them, make them."

Keep Hope Alive.

I think that PTDF is marginalising the local scholars. I am yet to read one from foreign scholars on here.

What pained me most is seeing PTDF giving scholarship to someone who didn't write the test or interview. And, most importantly, to someone who does not merit it.
I recall during my youth service in 2012, I had an idea of designing and fabricating a model Solar Dryer for Agricultural products in rural areas. Thinking that the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development will be a condign sponsor based on the scope of the project, I approached the ministry with my well articulated proposal and budget.

After about 3 months of follow-ups and few weeks to my POP when NYSC was on my neck to deliver the project, I eventually got a response from the ministry and it was; "this is not part of our mandate". That left me wondering what the mandate of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development could be if it can't sponsor a project of designing a Solar Dryer for Agricultural Products in Rural Areas. The irony frightened me. And how much did I budget for? A "whopping" NGN15,000. Enough said.

That leads me to your concerns: if we extapolate my experience to the LSS, we can see some parallels. It seems to me that LOCAL projects that cost so little sometimes are the most difficult for the decision makers to fund (whether such budgets are difficult to inflate and misrepresent, your guess is as good as mine), and some boondoggles get easy nods.

Again, the fact that the best Paediatric graduate from Uniport recently got ONLY a prize worth NGN 250 (yes 250 Naira!) speaks volume about how much we value merit in this land. Enough said.

And let's say each OSS is worth $100,000 (and the chance of that occuring is slim since programs/schools differ - some will be way cheaper),

Haha brother fear God o. Do you know how much that is? The money EFCC is whistle blowing now doesn't make us know how magnanimous money is. Even Australian scholars will not incur as much. If you are in highbrow city for your masters, say in London, you won't be getting more than 1400£ per month. Including your school fee ( most expensive .... say imperial ca 30,000£) just giving you what could be spent on one scholar at the most. The money spent is actually worth considering domestication considering capital flight. But if you are a lucky beneficiary, consider yourself the most favoured. Get to work!
Bro, some of the schools approved for the US cost up to $23,000 per semester for out-of-state students. For 4 semeters, that will be $92,000 for just tuition and I've not added other expenses.
So I know how gargantuan the money is and what quality education it can afford. And I will be more than grateful when I receive the OSS Award. But I also know that money is NOT magnanimous to anyone, otherwise everyone will have it. Well, that's a topic for another day...

I understand UK schools are cheaper because it's one year master's program vis-a-vis other differences from US schools. So, a UK education statistic is too narrow to make a broad generalization since the sample will not be representative.

While I'm not against domestication, I still hold that teeming Nigerians won't choose oversea schools if we have the capacity and facilities to give them world class education during their studies and opportunities after.
And not only the scholarship should be domesticated; our healthcare system should be also, so our politicians don't use tax payers money (mine inclusive) on medical vacations abroad, etc. But while our education, healthcare and other systems are in sorry states, let's make the trips abroad till we upgrage our systems locally to global standards, and I pray it happens in my lifetime.

Thanks for your thoughts tho.

and will that affect this year's scholarship?
Why worry yourself? Worrying solves no problems. The fact is nobody on this platform is an AUTHORITY on the way PTDF conducts its business - we all can only speculate. Thus, we should learn to discriminate between personal opinions and facts.

I think the good thing for us to do is prepare hard for the test, perhaps if PTDF decides to reduce the quota per state this year for overseas scholarships, say from four to three, we will still be among the first three.

Caveat: I'm not saying PTDF will reduce the quota per state this year.

Come to think of it, if PTDF gives 5 per state this year plus the FCT, that will amount to just 185 overseas scholarships, and it's still going to be a far cry from the number of scholarships that will be awarded locally. And let's say each OSS is worth $100,000 (and the chance of that occuring is slim since programs/schools differ - some will be way cheaper), that means that all the budget will equal $18.5 million. And that is not even up to twice the $9.8 million ONE former Director in NNPC stashed in ONE of his vaults claiming it was a "GIFT".

Here is the point: NNPC/PTDF is not poor to send brilliant Nigerians abroad to study and if ONE GMD of NNPC can have a gift of $9.8million, even 185 relentless and hardworking Nigerian students deserve more than $18.5 million dollars to go abroad for programs they can't find locally.

So, let's keep our eyes on the trail, forget what was and what will be, and focus on the task at hand.

I don't know about you, but I'm picking one of the OSS this year for a study at the University of Michigan, USA, even if PTDF is awarding just FIVE (5) OSS globally.

Section A was 40 questions. The questions were purely English questions. Section B was about 60 questions and it is based on the course you applied for. You should note that similar courses may write the same exams.

For instance Renewable Energy and Energy Systems had similar questions.

I can't remember exactly the time allotted for each section but the time is enough for someone that knows what he is doing.
Thanks Emasel, your response is helpful. God bless! And good luck with your application this year!
