Dsalvo: That part is underrated. Having lived in the States for a few years, I could co-sign this. During my first 4 years here, I focused exclusively on school, learning the American way, and putting myself out there even in uncomfortable situations. Well, I goofed so many times; sometimes I didn’t get their jokes, analogies, what to order when we go out, and even to carry on with conversations, but it was all the learning experience I needed for becoming more refined. This has not only helped me to attract women from all cultures and nationalities, but it has helped me tremendously in my career. Today, after 5 years, it’s a different ball game. I live in a major city, and attract all sorts of women of different shades that are fit, young and educated. I would say I’m conventionally handsome, but that helped a bit, but being in good shape, stylish, conversational, confident, and witty elevated my game by multiple folds. In the final analysis, focus on being a better version of yourself, and you will attract the people you deserve. Keyword is attract, not chase. I would use the energy for chasing to improve myself. Forgive any typos or grammar errors, I was rattling this out as fast I could. 6 Likes 1 Share |

Everrich96: Brother, I know how you feel. I’m so sorry for being heartbroken. I think the best thing to do is to turn this around for you good. It’s hard but you have to cheer yourself up and live your best life. I would recommend the following; 1. Hit the gym often or exercise to take your mind off her, and be in the best shape of your life. 2. Let out the emotions if you will, it’s okay to cry. Don’t cry in the open tho lol. 3. Spend more time on your purpose, and be the best version of yourself. Concentrate on your career and making money. 4. Spend more time with good friends with high self-esteem. 5. Take sometime to heal before jumping into another relationship. 6. Go no-contact with your ex, never message or call her again. Delete her photos, or take away anything that will remind you of her. 7. Focus on yourself now. Take her off the pedestal and you will see her for who she really is. 8. Have an abundance mindset. Many better options are out there. 9. Take stock of your past relationships, recognize any bad patterns you’ve repeated and work on it. Not for her, but for yourself. 10. Remember, men are the prize. Men age like fine wine and women like milk. Peace and blessings. 2 Likes 1 Share |

adedayolasu: Mr. Motivational Speaker, please don’t make yourself look foolish. The candidate simply asked about his chances given the lousy stats, and I gave my own opinion. You should have just given yours without wailing over my mention. Generally, I don’t dignify argument-seeking asses with a response, but I’m replying just for the sake of those who want a honest view. I don’t want you to project your delusion unto others and give them false hopes. This is not about me so don’t bother asking about my credentials. Furthermore, it is better for people to know what they are against instead of meeting a lot of heartbreaks in the future. People vilify those who speak bitter truths today and it’s a shame. This is not Master’s! A PhD in Engineering is not a child’s play even in Nigeria, so applying to lower ranking schools in the U.S. doesn’t make it an easy proposition. Can you bet your one month salary on him getting admitted to one of those lower ranked schools purely on his academic records? If he can barely pass the GRE, how can he demonstrate that he would be prepared to pass the qualifying exams necessary to progress in a PhD program? Again, if I was an advisor, his chances of getting on my research group would be very thin. If the poster had heard that there’s “free funding” for PhD and wanted to use that to migrate, he should better think twice because there are other ways to make it to the U.S. However, if he really wants to pursue a PhD, he would need to proof beyond reasonable doubts that he’s competent. So far, he has not demonstrated that competency. Just take a look at the poster’s grammar. Sounds like someone is joking to me! 2 Likes |

Kemimarch16: Blacks are easy to divide and conquer. We have a lot of work to do on our psyche! Blacks sold their cousins to slavery in the first place. Even during the civil rights movement, many black Americans became spies for the white supremacists especially in Mississippi. There’s no much difference even today in the “black community.” 5 Likes |

Onboard1: I'm looking at the fundamentals. For now, SAVE is selling at a Price-Book Ratio of 0.5x compared to the US Airlines industry average of 0.8x. If it gets to the level of industry average, I'd begin to suspect saturation. However, I would still look at its closest competitors to make a final decision. Furthermore, SAVE's PE ratio is 4.7x which less than the industry average of 7.9x, so it's still selling below its fair value. It also has a beta of 0.37 making it very less volatile, although it's a double-edged sword. Southwest (LUV) to me is getting crowded so I would not buy more for now as much as SAVE. It's TTM PE ratio is 8.59 for a beta of 1.41. So, it's fundamentally selling at a higher price than SAVE even with a bigger beta. It's P/B ratio is also 1.9x which means it's selling at a premium and above the industry average. I also consider LUV and SPIRIT to be substitutes since they are both low-cost carriers. Maybe its time for some portfolio rebalancing. 3 Likes |

ofspain: Given your weak undergrad GPA, that GRE score (especially the Quant) is rather low and confirms that your GPA is a true reflection of your academic prowess. If I was an advisor, I wouldn’t hire you except you demonstrate an uncanny ability for scientific research in your field through patents or publications in top scientific journals. Miracles may happen tho. 5 Likes |

arduino: I’d be leery to buy their share tho especially if they don’t have any potential blockbuster drugs in the pipeline and only banking on COVID vaccine for growth. There are just too many biotechs promising on a coronavirus vaccine and news keep changing everyday. Hence, assuming they all succeed, competition would be too high making to make them profitable. I’m even suspecting that some of them using COVID for pump and dump schemes. I bought Inovio after their positive news, the stock plummeted later and I’m still waiting for it to recover. 1 Like 1 Share |

Time2win: That’s a great question the school can answer. Obviously, one may not be able to open a U.S. account offshore. These are unprecedented times and ways are made around some things. What I know is that the school either pays via direct deposit or mail a check which is good for 6 months. For the records, I’m not in Nigeria. 1 Like |

vc1177: I have only completed the DS-160 for F-1 twice but only paid the SEVIS fee once, so I will speak for myself. I paid the SEVIS fee before the DS-160. In my opinion, there is no point in filling the DS-160 before paying the SEVIS fee since you can't be interviewed for a Visa without your receipt. DS-160 can be completed under 1 hour. I think it is possible to complete the DS-160 before paying the SEVIS fee as long as you have your SEVIS # on your I-20 because it is required in the form. 1 Like |

vc1177: If my memory doesn't fail me, the DS-160 form is completed like any other form. I would try to complete the application in one sitting if I can. If I'd do it bit by bit then I'd also ensure that I have my Confirmation Number saved or written somewhere in case the system locks me out due to inactivity. 2 Likes 1 Share |

urstruly1: You’ve raised some valid points but let me offer another perspective. You can actually perform the role of a TA/GA (depending on what the role is) remotely. I did it. Professors still need graders and office-hours are still conducted online. RA role is tricky if you’re not in the U.S. so I can’t vouch for that. You can get paid without a SSN. Schools can give you something in the form of a Temporary Control Number (TCN) pending the time you receive your SSN. At this point, I would take what my school says as sacrosanct before making a final decision. 3 Likes |

kastgeraldino: Your story is similar to mine. I thought the thread was about those living in Nigeria planning to relocate to the U.S. and succeed there. However, the the topic is broader than that, and I find merit in what others are saying. If I was American or PR, heck as a minority, who takes education seriously, funding would have been relatively easier for me to get. An average Nigerian with no green card planning to study a professional course in the U.S. should better take heed to what you’ve just written. Full Scholarships with no strings attached are extremely rare for Nigerian students in the U.S. For instance, If you’re lucky to be a Fulbright scholar, you’d have to return to Nigeria. Can’t even recall if it’s still available to Nigerians. Even if it were, your chances of getting it would be less than 1%. Other types of funding often come as tuition waivers and stipends through TA/RA/GA and they are still difficult to get. So as a Nigerian, if you want full-ride in the U.S. your grades must be up there relatively to your peers (and you can play the game by applying to schools that match your profile so you could be a local champion there). If you can’t be a local champion anywhere in the U.S., you’d have to take a loan my friend. I know a few people who thought they could just come here and work 2 or 3 jobs to pay there way through, but they dropped out, found someone to marry or transferred to community colleges. 5 Likes 1 Share |
