Hi Fam. I have done alot of research and read alot of pages on this thread. As you know I intend to apply for a PhD in EE or Biomedical Engineering. I have short listed the following schools; University of Michigan (Ambitious), Georgia Tech, University of illinois Urbana and Kansas State University. I have contacted their grad program coordinators. Some are yet to respond.

My question is since am planning to re-write GRE, how long can I delay it with the hope that results reach the school before 1st Dec?

The schools I have short listed, how generous are they will funding (under grad GPA 4.26/5, masters 3.5/5)?

Apart from application fees and cost of sending hard copies of documents are there other fees I have to pay?

Finally, to what extent do I stand a chance to gaining admission in any of these schools?

My GRE Experience (Post 1)
I am writing this to encourage someone out there. My background includes a 2.1 and 65th percentile CGPA in both B.Sc and M.Sc respectively (medical field in Nigeria), and it was saddening to see me fall for GRE 3 times. Yes! 3 horrible times. A GRE score that is >300 seems like a Kilmanjaro without any knowledge of how to surmount it. I drew encouragement from the fact that my score improved by 6 marks at each attempt (1st - 286, 2nd - 292, 3rd - 298) and was resilient to @ least break the jinx of 300 mark, even if it's just by 0.000001. Although, it was quite challenging - financially, emotionally and mentally - to keep up with the exams due to work schedule, exam cost and depression associated with failure. Yet! I never give up 'cos I saw GRE as an hurdle to jump to achieve something big.
At last, after dealing with the 'Jericho wall' at the redemption camp on thursday, I went to JKK (where I was a regular customer) to re-write.
After the exam, I scored 308 (Total Score; Quant - 154, Verbal - 154). Not 'stellar' as we commonly say here, but at all all ........

By writing 4 times, I discovered some things about the exam that worth sharing particularly for low scorers in VERBAL. I will be back to share in the next post.. Merci Dieu

Haba, where did you get this from? Paper based is written 3 times in a year in Nigeria. I personally know 3 people that wrote it in 2016 and I am sure atleast one person on this thread wrote it.

Doctors and all concerned nairalanders, I really need to know if there is any treatment for itching especially after morning bath. I have used up all means known to me including, bathing hot water, applying aboniki after bath, etc. I brought this to nairaland believing to get a lasting solution. Thank you my good people.

It is unpatriotic to abuse one another,office procedures follows protocols, the delay is not denial but a design plan from God, it's unfair to use hard words on one another. We all have to know God knows your destination, pastor adeboye once said in his time he went for commonwealth scholarship he was denied,but today he is greater in the sight of God and men than does who got it. I see so many of you misbehaving on this thread, this thread is meant for scholars, some of you need to check the meaning of the word "Scholar" in the dictionary so you can act like one. So many useless noise everywhere. Please make more noise and act irresponsible then at the end, none of you will be picked by PTDF. Same way some guys were acting oversabi on shell thread and at the end none qualified for the next round. So many people need to do some growing up. Spits.....

I actually support this. The list should have been released by now according to the schedule. I hope it hasn't been hijacked. In fact I just sent a mail to "info@ptdf.gov.ng" :

"Dear Sir,

I write to enquire when the PTDF successful lists will be out. Please our schools are on our necks.

I will be glad if the successful lists can be released on (Monday, August 14, 2017). 

Thank you"

If we can copy and send to the e-mail address. It could hasten them to release the list on Monday. Do not underestimate your power.

Though they wouldn't say they don't know most applicants are to resume this September but there is no harm letting them know how we are strongly hoping for a quick release of the list.

In fact maybe we share them a link to this page seffff for them to see what applicants are saying......

I wonder why Univ of Michigan didn't give you funding. They used to be generous. Do you have your visa already? Sometimes you get an RA from a professor when you go to school early. Did you contact those in your research interest?

if u even wana talk abt undue advantage, u shld be referring to those who had access to d questions or d sources of d questions b4 d exam. That some candidates got some ideas of d questions isn't their fault, most of d pple complaining are d ones that told them. Besides, i don't think it matters. Many pple that ddnt get any advantage will still score higher than many of those that did. In fact, there will surely be awardees from the 8 am batch who merit it.

If there shld be any complain at all, it should be based on d fact that some pple who don't merit the scholarship actually get sponsored. i'm referring to the other list and the excess that corrupts d merit list.

I like Nigerians religious people... They'll just attribute all their successes to their God and prayers etc, they wont tell you the shady things they did in addition to their adequate preparation for the success they've acheived.

The OP of the thread you posted the link above obviously had undue advantage because he wrote after the first set must have written on the D-day of the examination. And he obviously got some tips(expos) that helped him a bit. But he'll be fast to say it's God that did it and all those gibberish and balderdash religious people say.

Look at his comment on that same thread below:

On the day of Exam some people who did before you will be like they can tell you all the questions they did for their own subject, don't fall into the trap because you probably have no idea of the course but you want to do it because of free questions. Stick to you and believe in yourself. This happened to me last year on the day of the exam, but i went for my course!.

I'm not trying to be a buzz kill here, I'm just trying to be realistic.
PS: He must have got some English questions, even though he clearly didn't switch course.
