Unblockable:God bless you! When did daft, bribe-influenced, online polls become actual election results in Nigeria? This was the same way Jimi Agbaje of PDP (against Akinwumi Ambode of APC), Segun Adewale of PDP (against Senator Solomon Olamilekan 'Yayi" of APC), Kolapo Olusola Eleka of PDP (against Kayode Fayemi of APC), and others won so-called online polls but got humiliated in the real elections! Jonathan won ALL the online polls ahead of the 2015 elections, including the one commissioned by discredited NOI Polls Limited allegedly owned by a Minister under Jonathan's cabinet. Didn't Buhari thrash Jonathan in the same 2015 election? Atiku is a dunce; a money-miss-road everyone knows and they are ready to collect his money yet again! It seems PDP losers love fake online polls than actual election, LOL! How could any serious politician gleefully celebrate online polls to the extent of issuing a stupid press release in celebration like Atiku just did? |
This clown, weakling, bad-ass Fayose puppet, who never said a word during the campaigns in Ekiti has suddenly found his voice after his loss! Kolapo Olusola Eleka should just sit down and lick his wounds like his boastful, garrulous, empty-brain puppeteer Ayo Fayose jare... |
Breaking News: Governor Ortom meets immediate past Governor Gabriel Susmam, immediate past Senate President David Mark and current APC Senator Barnabas Gemade, set to defect to PDP. Did you see why it is sheer waste of time and energy fighting on behalf of politicians This was the same Suswam that Ortom has insulted almost every day since he took over from him; who he dragged before EFFC and ICPC; who he labeled "extremely corrupt", "he looted Benue treasury, I didn't find any money", "Suswam left huge debts for me, no IGR", etc. Before 2019 elections, if Fayose defects to APC, I will never be surprised. Fight politicians' battles on their behalf at your peril! They are prostitutes- any "customer" that pays higher, gets the spoils of war. LOL. |

My response: Anyone who knows anything, in fact as much as 5% about Ogun State politics should know that PDP has just made a big mistake by expelling Buruji Kashamu! Yes, his source of huge wealth might be dodgy; he owns Best Western Hotel in Victoria Island (opposite Eko Atlantic/Old Bar Beach) and Hotel de Island in the same V/I (opposite Providus Bank headquarters), but nowhere in the world is politics meant for saints; not even in the US! There is a reason politics is termed “a game of numbers”. Kashamu is the greatest individual spender in Ogun State politics. The guy must have given away more than 200 cars and 100 buses since he joined politics in 2014 or thereabout! I am not exaggerating; let Ijebu people on this platform (not Ijebus in Diaspora o, lol) speak up. Kashamu practically owns Ogun East senatorial district, covering the entire stretch of Ijebu and Remo. Even with the Buhari tsunami of 2015 and Amosun’s ‘Midas touch’ as a sitting Governor, Kashamu defeated APC hands-down and won the senatorial election. His huge, deep pockets meant that PDP has lost a very huge opportunity to bounce back in Ogun. This was the same template that won Governor Ajimobi of Oyo State his second term in 2015 (the first Governor to win two terms in the entire history of Oyo State!)- because Ladoja, Akala, and others divided votes when they both defected to Accord and Labour respectively. In fact, when their votes were added, PDP would have won the Governor seat in Oyo in 2015 because their combined votes were far higher than the votes Ajimobi got. I have read so many ignorant comments regarding this huge mistake by PDP. All politics is local- the dynamics of FG politics is far different from states o! Forget Kashamu’s heavy moral baggage regarding his source of wealth, by this fatal error, PDP is dead in Ogun State!!! |
Zanas:Are you sure? Did you watch the APC rally at Ikot-Ekpene last Saturday? Many Akpabio loyalists defected from PDP to APC at that rally o! It was live on national TV... Also, remember that he publicly insulted Govenor Udom Emmanuel last year for abandoning his own people. PDP in Akwa-Ibom later convened a 'reconciliation' meeting between him and Udom... This story could be very true. |
I just don't know why this story is a surprise to anyone! I won't be surprised if Goodluck Jonathan joins APC too. In Nigeria, there is nothing like party loyalty- parties are just a conduit to win elections and steal from the treasury. Tinubu appears to be the only consistent politician among the political bigwigs in Nigeria- most other politicians are "anywhere food dey" politicians. The other day, I saw Ben Murray Bruce, with all the stupid noise about "common sense" eating, drinking, and shouting in a guest house with one senior APC chieftain and I wondered: "these people are friends across parties but their daft supporters will continue to fight online and offline". LOL. |
This Moshood Adeoti clown will go pick the ticket of one mushroom, unknown, inconsequential party and eventually earn 200 votes in the September 22 2018 election and he would cry "I have been rigged out o". LOL. What is Adeoti's clout in Osun politics? Even in Iwo town, where he originated from, he can't win 1,000 votes. Young men such as Semiu Okanlawon and others will trounce him even in Iwo... They will never learn. This was how the SSG to Governor Oyinlola, Fatai Akinbade, resigned from PDP, got the ticket of a funny party and was mercilessly thrashed at the election- he got like 100 votes! LOL. Omisore will suffer the same fate. He's left PDP and has gone to win the SDP ticket and he will be roundly defeated. Even in SDP, another person is claiming to be the candidate- there was a parallel primary in the SDP. Foolish politicians never learn! |
obembet:You are a daft, lost-case, nincompoop. The "Islamic school" elected a Christian, ANIMASHAUN Oluseyi EMMANUEL as SUG President! Some of you bigots think through your anus...Everything is seen from your narrow religious prism; your life is messed up already... |
Fayose, this same traditional ruler was the one you barged into his palace and insulted and humiliated just about two months ago! So, you, daft Ayo Fayose, could ever visit the Ewi of Ado to plead? Wonders shall never cease. Those PDP stalwarts who defected to APC, but who you told the world to “get away, I don’t need you” will be laughing right now! People such as Attorney General/Commissioner of Justice Owoseni, Commissioner Ajayi, current Senator F. Raji-Rasaki, Dayo Adeyeye, Federal Reps members, Senator Ayo Arise, many current Ekiti House of Assembly members, including the Chief Whip, etc, etc. With his humiliation at last Saturday’s election, Fayose got thought a bitter lesson regarding boastfulness, arrogance, taking-people-for-granted, claiming infallibility, doing ‘one-man-show’, and playing “god”! |
seunmsg:Seunmsg, your analytical skills are great! Fact-based analysis. You are truly a resident (or an indigene) of Ekiti! You are not one of those funny characters who do not know the boundary of Kwara, Osun, and Ondo states with Ekiti let alone know where the state is located, lol. Kai! |
seunmsg:Seunmsg, I doff my hat for you! Guys, permit me to write in caps for the first time on this platform:THIS ANALYSIS IS THE MOST COMPELLING, MOST FACTUAL, AND THE TRUEST AMONG ALL ANALYSES WRITTEN BY ANYONE REGARDING WHY FAYOSE’S PDP LOST THAT ELECTION!!! I salute you! |
strangest:You thought that you are smart, but you are a nincompoop! Why did you completely omit votes from Ado local government (the state capital, with the highest registered voters) and Ise/Orun local government from your fake, excel-sheet list? Some of you are so damn daft! Why is it that non-Ekiti indigenes, and non- Yorubas are the ones most pained (and are the ones complaining loudly) about the defeat of the daft thug, Ayo Fayose? Accept that your lord and master, Fayose, a bombastic, ill-educated, garrulous idiot lost an election he wanted to impose a puppet, never-talking, docile, meek, uninspiring, “Professor” Eleka! |
FrancisDiote:You are the daft one here! I saw the computation of the so-called 316,019 total votes BUT discovered that the fool who compiled it deliberately omitted the votes for Ado-Ekiti and Ise/Orun Local Government Areas so that he could deceive people about the election results. If you add those two (in fact, Ado Ekiti, being the state capital has/always had the highest votes), the total will be complete. PDP e-rats think that they are clever; but they are confirmed fools! |
This guy is an unmitigated nincompoop! If PDP's Prof. Elekaad had won in Ekiti, would this clown have torn his cursed PVC? Irrational PDP members trying to curry public sympathy. God showed Fayose His Omnipotence! I saw 11 different interviews Fayose granted different media houses- Channels TV, Osasu Show, TVC, Breakfast Show, etc where he arrogantly claimed the following: "I will be the first Governor of Ekiti state to have his chosen successor elected" "Now that APC has chosen Fayemi as their candidate, I can go and sleep" "Seun, write it down, Professor Kolapo Olusola Eleka, my deputy, will be the Governor of Ekiti state" "Let them bring the IG of Police, Chief of Army Staff, I will disgrace those shameless APC people" "We are sure of another 16-0 against Fayemi. Fayemi is our regular customer!" "Forget all those people who defected to APC, people like Adeyeye, Owoseni, and others; I will beat ALL of them. I will disgrace them" He was too boastful, arrogant. He played a demi-god role and God shamed him! He also did not allow his candidate, Prof. Eleka, to talk, campaign, or seek public votes at all. All the campaigns were about him (Fayose) alone, despite not being the candidate! Next base, jare... |
efilefun:God bless you! I previously wrote about how incredible it was to note that “almighty OAU Ife” awarded Olusola Eleka a PhD and a Professorship. The Eleka guy is the most timid, incoherent, uninspiring, non-confident candidate of any major political party since 1999. The few instances he spoke on TV since Fayose imposed him on his party, he always appeared like a secondary school dropout! His interviews are always laced with irritably poor grammar, unbelievable errors in the use of simple tenses, lack of gravitas or poise, etc. Even at PDP campaigns, Fayose spoke more than 95% of the instances; Eleka was always seen behind Fayose looking askance like a puppet... Ekiti people have succeeded in preventing a 3rd term for Fayose. Had he (Eleka) won, Fayose would have been running Ekiti State directly from his mansion in Magodo, Lagos! |

I saw the video and two other previous videos and my view is to the effect that I have observed various outgoing Governors endorse their preferred successors, however, Prof. Olusola Eleka’s case is the worst. Fayose lays his hands on his head, with him kneeling, and bowing sheepishly to Fayose like a clown; in fact, like a domestic servant! The man Eleka, when he speaks on TV (and I’ve listened to him speak several times), he does not talk like a person who finished secondary school let alone one with a Professorial title! And OAU Ife awarded the man the Professor title! Incredible. I have observed terrible puppet-successors who took orders from their godfathers, but with the way Fayose is going with Eleka, should he win on Saturday, Ekiti would have handed Fayose a clear 3rd term. Eleka may turn out as the worst imposed, godson Governor in the history of Nigeria. He’s too timid, meek, non-confident, and docile to lead Ekiti State. This guy’s entire cabinet will eventually be nominated by Fayose and revenue/FAAC allocation will be spent from Fayose’s Magodo mansion in Lagos! With the huge number of defectors from PDP to APC within the past 4 weeks, and their grassroots appeal, Fayemi will win! May God help the people of Ekiti State! |
opera1:Daft Lere Olayinka and his Nolywood-styled comedian, sinking “Fowlyose” Governor should feel the same thing (in fact this is just 50%) they used the Army and the Police to do to Fayemi and ACN supporters in 2014! Karma is a bitch! |
My take: 1. Fayose is street-wise. He deserves credit for that... 2. Fayose has lost a lot of his supporters lately (members of the House of Assembly, Senator of the largest senatorial district, members of the House of Reps, trusted two-time Attorney General, a long-term ally who he nominated as Minister under Jonathan, etc, etc). These people are grassroots mobilizers. 3. The Muslim community who he wanted to woo for votes by nominating a Muslim deputy governor candidate has openly told him that him antecedents (no single Commissioner, no single permanent secretaty, only one inconsequential adviser, no single Tutor-General, no single head of agency or parastatal, etc) clearly shows complete hatred and disdain for them despite their loud complains to him, hence they cannot be deceived to vote his ‘Muslim boy’ now in 2018. 4. Owing of salaries and pensions for as much as seven months is a major dent on Fayose’s hopes of winning for his party. 5. Every time Prof. Olusola Eleka had spoken since he became PDP candidate, I always wondered how the mightily reputable OAU Ife awarded him a PhD and Professorship. He’s completely bereft of ideas, shy, withdrawn, incoherent, and lacks confidence. Many people think he’s a conduit for 3rd term for Fayose. He will be a complete “remote control” of Fayose. 6. Lastly, and the MOST IMPORTANT point, IF APC’s goons (Buhari won’t support this though) do exactly what PDP did to Fayemi in 2014, ie arresting a large number of his supporters, foot soldiers, campaign managers, and putting crude fear in the minds of people thereby making many to stay indoors, using the Police and the Army (under the command of two Ministers- Musiliu Obanikoro of Defence and Jelili Adesiyan of Police Affairs), APC WILL WIN on Saturday!!! |
ogundeleai:Ogundele, these are the reasons Benedict Ayade of Cross River state and David Umahi of Ebonyi state like Buhari: CROSS RIVER STATE 1. Cross River state was the first-ever state visited by Buhari after was sworn in as President in 2015. He also visited again a few weeks ago, making that state the ONLY state in the South-South and South-East regions that Buhari had visited officially twice in 3 years. 2. In the entire history of Cross River state, the state had never had this number of high-ranking Federal Govt appointees at the same time during ANY Federal Government in history, an issue Ayade always publicly mention when praising Buhari. These are some of them: a. Head of Service of the Federation b. Chief of the Naval Staff (CoNS) of the Nigerian Navy c. Auditor-General of the Federation (in spite of several maliciously tainted petitions against him prior to his appointment by Buhari, some of the petitions came from other South-South states who wanted the appointment given to their states instead of considering merit) d. Chief Justice of the Federation: (some might think that this was not a favour just because Onoghen was the most senior; but they are wrong because there have been several precedents of the most senior Supreme Court Justice (SCJ) ignored and forcefully retired to pave way for junior SCJsto who were appointed as Chief Justice of the Federation e. Senior Minister, Minister of Federal Ministry of Niger Delta f. Several Federal Permanent Secretaries, Heads of parastatals, etc EBONYI STATE 1. Buhari specifically approved huge funds for the CBN Farmers' Anchor Borrowers' Programme to farmers (especially rice farmers) in Ebonyi state despite being a PDP opposition state. Umahi always referred to this. 2. The Federal Ministry of Works has refunded huge funds spent by the state to repair Federal Roads without considering it being a PDP state, contrary to the approach of Jonathan who refused to refund non-PDP state governments. 3. Sensing Buhari's positive body language to Umahi, Umahi's former boss, immediate past Governor who was Governor from 200-2015 when Umahi was Deputy Governor, but who he never wanted to succeed him as Governor, had not been able to deal with Umahi as he promised to do when he decamped to APC just before the 2015 elections. If the history of PDP Federal Government stylishly encouraging opposition Governors (especially old ANPP Governors) to decamp to the ruling PDP before general elections is to hold true, there is a high possibility that these two Governors (Ayade and Umahi) may likely defect to APC or both may look the other way for Buhari to get thousands of votes even when they will expectedly protect their local PDP votes in Governorship and State Assembly elections. Another Governor that is likely to work for Buhari in 2019 is Willie Obiano of Anambra state. He quickly visited Aso Rock Villa to specifically thank Buhari for not using “federal might” of soldiers, policemen, and DSS during the Anambra elections as PDP used to do in the past. He stated this on national TV when he was asked why he visited Buhari just a few days after his re-election in Anambra. I have an inkling that arm-chair analysts on social media who are hating on Buhari regarding 2019 election are in for a huge shocker! A lot of elected leaders across parties will work for his re-election in 2019 and he will likely win a 2nd term! |
Jokerman:You were wrong. Taraba is a PDP state- it has always had PDP Governors (including the recently jailed, so-called Reverend Jolly Nyame) since 1999... |
called2Bsaint:And you really thought that President Buhari could have put his integrity on the line (by protecting the Registrar, Prof Ifeoma) for N49m contract being investigated by the dissolved Board? N49 million. Come on! For the President to have reinstated her over the N49 million investigation, it might actually have been a case of deliberate witch-hunt by the Board members to harass and oust the reinstated Registrar. I have witnessed it happen where Board members ganged up against a CEO just for refusing to help them steal money and approve unmerited, illegal, and unofficial millions of naira "largesse". |
fyneguy:Fyneguy, do not mind so many daft clowns on this platform; hatred for Buhari has made them go blind. As you rightly stated, Buhari actually asked the lady Prof, Ifeoma Abanihe, to return to work immediately and sacked the entire Board of NABTEB that had previously suspended her! Buhari actually did a thing they would have liked (i.e. he reinstated the Igbo-lady Professor) but they responded in opposite direction! Perhaps, they do not understand the meaning of the word "reinstated"; biko "reinstated" means "return to work", lol. |
DAntivirus:You are daft! Buhari actually ordered the immediate reinstatement of the Registrar, Prof. Ifeoma Abanihe, who he stated that the Board had illegally suspended! You may hate Buhari, but read stories before showing your crass ignorance and stupidity on public platforms! Buhari asked the Registrar to resume her duties immediately and dissolved the Board that suspended her. What else did you expect Buhari to do? And again, to puncture your stupid analogy, was it not the same Buhari who appointed the Registrar in the first place? www.punchng.com/n49m-scam-buhari-dissolves-nabteb-board-reinstates-suspended-registrar |
RexTramadol1:Rex, God bless you! Leave the ignorant, wanna-be young people to 'stew in their own juice'... |
I have just read a lot of thrash from the younger generation regarding the British Prime Minister's greeting approach. For God's sake, this is respect for royalty, history, and culture at play! One of the reasons the world is a worse place to live than in the past is the ignorant, daft, thinking by the younger generation (40 and below) that everything steeped in the past regarding culture, tradition, and history is bad! When has showing due regard for royalty become a bad thing? When has deferring to culture become outdated, old, dirty, and unworthy? One nincompoop, irritating nitwit wrote somewhere that he would greet an Obi, Emir, Sultan, Igwe, Oba stretching his hands first, be at the same level, and look at him straight in the face. I replied: "Go ask your father/mother how it is done". The world has gone mad... Haughtiness, pride, 'chip on the shoulder', materialism, etc will kill this generation of young people! |
Obasanjo remains an old, senile nincompoop who thinks he owns Nigeria and determines who we elect as President. He wrote stupid letters to ALL Presidents that ruled/that is ruling except his daft self! He is the only perfect human being; the fool. And now, he is meeting empty barrels who can never win any election and who have never won an election in their entire lives! Every single person mentioned in this report has no political value. I somewhat believe that God allowed Buhari to win in 2015 in order to finally bury Obasanjo’s dying political career! |
ernecy:Religion is NOT the problem of the world; rather, the so-called practitioners of religion (ALL types of religion) are the problem!!! |
emeijeh:Emeh, you took the words out of my fingers! Who are the President's advisers for God's sake I have always been a supporter of Buhari from 2003 (my posts here and elsewhere clearly showed this slant), but on this condolence visit, it's a no-no! Why would the President visit Bauchi state within 48 hours of a natural disaster but only visited states where people are murdered several days after? APC is committing too many unforced errors, aside consistent in-fighting among its chieftains, for my liking. Only yesterday, I could not understand how Fayemi and the other Yoruba Governors and statesmen contrived to forget to have the Vice President (a Yoruba man!) pay homage to the Ewi of Ado-Ekiti before the mega rally in Ado!!! The VP only did damage control by visiting the monarch (and other monarchs in Ekiti state) today. In the first instance, how did that error (of 'not visiting' them) occur? I honestly want Buhari to win a 2nd term in 2019 because of the positive changes he has instituted in diverse sectors of the economy, and the eradication of "open stealing" of public resources, etc. However, these unforced errors are too much!!! The toga of 'my people first' (Ijaw supremacy) was one the major factors that killed Jonathan's Presidency (and got him voted out) but to think that Buhari was meant to do things differently ![]() Amazing! |
The internet NEVER forgets...This was the bad, terrible things this same stomach-full-of-lies LERE OLAYINKA said about Fayose in 2014 before and after the PDP Governorship primaries when he hated Fayose with a passion! But since Fayose appointed him and his meal ticket shifted, his allegiance shifted too! Never, ever trust a politician (whether in Nigeria or elsewhere); or fight on their behalf! http://saharareporters.com/2016/07/18/flashback-how-gov-fayose-killed-scores-ekiti-lere-olayinka FLASHBACK: How Gov. Fayose Killed Scores In Ekiti By Lere Olayinka by Lere Olayinka Share Tweet However, funny how times flies, Fayose, after inflicting electoral injuries on the psyche of Ekiti people now mounts the podium, preaching against election rigging. Saint Fayose now goes about preaching rule of law, good governance, free and fair elections. He wants to be seen as a Saul who has given up his persecution of Christians and turned to Paul. As a student of a missionary school, Roman Catholic Primary School to be precise, I learnt early enough the story of Paul the Apostle. Saul, who later became Paul, was born around the same time as Christ. He was sent to the Jewish school of learning at Jerusalem to study law. After his studies, he returned to Tarsus but soon after the death of Christ he returned to Jerusalem where Christianity was becoming wide-spread. Saul was a key player in the persecution of Christians. However, after his encounter with Jesus Christ, on his way to Damascus to persecute some suspected Christians, Saul became converted and this conversion changed the course of his life. In Ekiti, there is one Saul that is daily struggling to become Paul. In the case of this Saul, he does not need an encounter with Jesus Christ to become a born again because he is not out to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ, but that of politics. He won’t even become anything close to Paul Apostle because his name was never Saul in the first instance. He was Peter Ayodele Oluwayose, who later said his father; Pastor John Oluwayose erred by replacing Ifa (god of divination) in his name with Oluwa (God). For over three years that Ayodele Fayose was the governor of Ekiti State; he was everything but a democrat. Rule of law, free and fair election, political tolerance and respect for traditional institution was anathema to him. Those of us who dared him then had bitter tales to tell. For instance, just because I was courageous enough to expose his N1.4 billion poultry scam and other atrocities, using a local newspaper, he (Fayose) obtained a warrant of arrest against my good-self and made arrangement with ‘’boys” in the prison to break my legs in detention. I escaped the arrest by whiskers. The arrest warrant saga was confirmed to me by the judge, who signed it. I had gone to the judge to sign a form, when he saw my name and exclaimed; “this world is indeed a small place. I signed your arrest warrant in 2005 but I thank God today because my conscience is clear. I vacated the order a week after without letting Fayose know about it.” The judge is still alive! I was not the only one who tasted Fayose’s bitter pills. Others, including the former governor of Ekiti State, Engr. Segun Oni, Minister of State for Federal Capital Territory, Navy Capt. Caleb Olubolade (rtd.), Chief Idowu Odeyemi, Senator Bode Olowoporoku, Chief Ojo Falegan, Chief George Femi-Ojo, Taiye Fasuba, Surveyor Abiodun Aluko, Chief Afe Babalola, Chief Kunle Ogunlade, Femi Falana, former governors Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Adeniyi Adebayo and Segun Osoba had more mind boggling stories to tell too. Fayose waged war against anyone he perceived as a threat to his hold on power. Even his own siblings were not left out. Ask Bimpe and Emmanuel, they sure still remember what they went through in the hands of Fayose, their own brother. In Fayose’s days as governor, there was nothing like free and fair election in his electoral dictionary. Elections to him must be won by whatever means possible and that he demonstrated during the 2004 local government elections in the State, May 28, 2005 councillorship bye-election in Ifaki-Ekiti, Ekiti South Federal Constituency II bye-election among others. Interestingly, the local council elections were conducted by the State Independent Electoral Commission (SIEC)– members of which were appointed by Fayose himself. In the case of the local government elections in Ekiti South West Local Government, which was held on April 3, 2004, Senator Olowoporoku, whose wife, Anike was the All Nigerian Peoples Party (ANPP) candidate gave the following account; “By the midnight of 2nd April, 2004 we heard that soldiers had invaded Iyin Ekiti, the home of ex-Governor Adeniyi Adebayo and had put former Governor Bola Tinubu of Lagos State and Ex-Governors Osoba of Ogun State and Niyi Adebayo of Ekiti State under arrest of no movement in and out of the compound in a state of incommunicado. “By about 9.00 a.m, people were ready to go and cast their ballots despite the war songs of the armed forces all over the town throughout the night. Their resolve was to go and vote in spite of the reported heavy presence of soldiers and mobile policemen in the town. Several people were on the queue to vote by 10.30a.m when Mr. Ayo Fayose suddenly emerged in sleeveless shirt and knickers with a terrifying sword and also in convoy of about 80 vehicles. His eyes were red like a monster who has just finished drinking blood. Soldiers and “kill and go” (mobile policemen) in hundreds started shooting into the air, asking everybody to run for their dear lives. People ran away, any presiding officers or agents whether of PDP or AD or ANPP or NCP who attempted to protect the ballot boxes were beaten to a state of coma or in a number of extreme cases, they were shot in the legs. “In a rage and something more than madness, the governor Mr. Ayo Fayose was overheard shouting “where is Bode Olowoporoku, I want to kill him, I have immunity for eight years as Governor of Ekiti State.” Olowoporoku’s account was corroborated by the reports in various national dailies on Sunday, April 4, 2004. Sunday Punch captioned it thus; “LG bye-election; Soldiers, mobile policemen invade Ekiti. Govt officials hijack ballot boxes. The News Magazine, in its April 5, 2004 edition captioned Fayose’s reign of terror thus; “The Power Drunk Governor; How Fayose’s men murdered students. His style shocks the nation. But if Fayose’s show of madness on April 2 and 3, 2004 actually shocked the nation as reported by The News Magazine, what he did on May 28, 2005 must have sent the whole country into a coma. Sensing that his preferred candidate was losing the Ifaki Ward II councillorship bye-election, Fayose stormed the town with thugs and mobile policemen and in a twinkling of an eye, Tunde Omojola, an in-law to Hon. Labaika Suleiman, the National Conscience Party (NCP) candidate in the election had been killed. His murder was allegedly supervised by Fayose. Not done with the Ifaki escapade, Fayose moved to Mugbagba, Ado-Ekiti where the Alliance for Democracy (AD) was inaugurating its Ado Local Government Executives. Fayose was personally involved in the smashing of vehicle windscreens and stealing of property, including raw cash kept in the vehicles. Yesterday, I read in the papers, Fayose, who used to refer to himself as the “master rigger” calling on voters to protect their votes and resist rigging in next year’s elections. In other words, Saint Fayose, who spearheaded the rigging of elections and unprecedented electoral violence when he was governor, now, wants the 2014 election, which he hopes to contest to be free and fair! But he (Fayose) surely needs more than mere press statements. For him to be seen as a Saul who has turned to Paul, Fayose must show penitence. He must visit the families of Tunde Omojola, Dr. Ayo Daramola, nine students of the College of Education, Ikere-Ekiti killed during a mere protest, the likes of Aseweje, Ben Ogundana, Dapo Osunniyi, Kamoru Folorunso, Ojo Sunday and several others that were visited with terror during the 2004 local council polls in Ilawe, Ogotun and Igbara-Odo to seek amnesty. Most importantly too, Fayose must go on his bended knees in front of the entire congregation of the Emmanuel Anglican Cathedral, Okesa, Ado-Ekiti, whose church’s two entrance gates he blocked with sand, gravel and gutter, deliberately dug in front of the church just because Chief Ojo Falegan, his perceived opponent, worshipped in the church. Honestly, like Paul Apostle, Fayose can be admitted into the club of sainthood; after all, our Lord is a forgiving God. But he must be ready to show repentance by confessing that he once rigged elections, perpetrated electoral violence and persecuted opposition politicians. Until then, his quest for sainthood, by preaching free and fair elections will remain in the dustbin of morality. - Lere Olayinka who is currently Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media to Governor Fayose wrote this piece on April 14, 2014 |
