Who are the President's advisers for God's sake I have always been a supporter of Buhari from 2003 (my posts here and elsewhere clearly showed this slant), but on this condolence visit, it's a no-no!

Why would the President visit Bauchi state within 48 hours of a natural disaster but only visited states where people are murdered several days after?

APC is committing too many unforced errors, aside consistent in-fighting among its chieftains, for my liking. Only yesterday, I could not understand how Fayemi and the other Yoruba Governors and statesmen contrived to forget to have the Vice President (a Yoruba man!) pay homage to the Ewi of Ado-Ekiti before the mega rally in Ado!!! The VP only did damage control by visiting the monarch (and other monarchs in Ekiti state) today. In the first instance, how did that error (of 'not visiting' them) occur?

I honestly want Buhari to win a 2nd term in 2019 because of the positive changes he has instituted in diverse sectors of the economy, and the eradication of "open stealing" of public resources, etc. However, these unforced errors are too much!!!

The toga of 'my people first' (Ijaw supremacy) was one the major factors that killed Jonathan's Presidency (and got him voted out) but to think that Buhari was meant to do things differently

[b]However, funny how times flies, Fayose, after inflicting electoral injuries on the psyche of Ekiti people now mounts the podium, preaching against election rigging. Saint Fayose now goes about preaching rule of law, good governance, free and fair elections. He wants to be seen as a Saul who has given up his persecution of Christians and turned to Paul.


As a student of a missionary school, Roman Catholic Primary School to be precise, I learnt early enough the story of Paul the Apostle. Saul, who later became Paul, was born around the same time as Christ. He was sent to the Jewish school of learning at Jerusalem to study law. After his studies, he returned to Tarsus but soon after the death of Christ he returned to Jerusalem where Christianity was becoming wide-spread. Saul was a key player in the persecution of Christians. However, after his encounter with Jesus Christ, on his way to Damascus to persecute some suspected Christians, Saul became converted and this conversion changed the course of his life.



[b]In Ekiti, there is one Saul that is daily struggling to become Paul. In the case of this Saul, he does not need an encounter with Jesus Christ to become a born again because he is not out to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ, but that of politics. He won’t even become anything close to Paul Apostle because his name was never Saul in the first instance. He was Peter Ayodele Oluwayose, who later said his father; Pastor John Oluwayose erred by replacing Ifa (god of divination) in his name with Oluwa (God).




[b]For over three years that Ayodele Fayose was the governor of Ekiti State; he was everything but a democrat. Rule of law, free and fair election, political tolerance and respect for traditional institution was anathema to him. Those of us who dared him then had bitter tales to tell. For instance, just because I was courageous enough to expose his N1.4 billion poultry scam and other atrocities, using a local newspaper, he (Fayose) obtained a warrant of arrest against my good-self and made arrangement with ‘’boys” in the prison to break my legs in detention. I escaped the arrest by whiskers. The arrest warrant saga was confirmed to me by the judge, who signed it. I had gone to the judge to sign a form, when he saw my name and exclaimed; “this world is indeed a small place. I signed your arrest warrant in 2005 but I thank God today because my conscience is clear. I vacated the order a week after without letting Fayose know about it.” The judge is still alive!


I was not the only one who tasted Fayose’s bitter pills. Others, including the former governor of Ekiti State, Engr. Segun Oni, Minister of State for Federal Capital Territory, Navy Capt. Caleb Olubolade (rtd.), Chief Idowu Odeyemi, Senator Bode Olowoporoku, Chief Ojo Falegan, Chief George Femi-Ojo, Taiye Fasuba, Surveyor Abiodun Aluko, Chief Afe Babalola, Chief Kunle Ogunlade, Femi Falana, former governors Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Adeniyi Adebayo and Segun Osoba had more mind boggling stories to tell too.


Fayose waged war against anyone he perceived as a threat to his hold on power. Even his own siblings were not left out. Ask Bimpe and Emmanuel, they sure still remember what they went through in the hands of Fayose, their own brother.


In Fayose’s days as governor, there was nothing like free and fair election in his electoral dictionary. Elections to him must be won by whatever means possible and that he demonstrated during the 2004 local government elections in the State, May 28, 2005 councillorship bye-election in Ifaki-Ekiti, Ekiti South Federal Constituency II bye-election among others.


Interestingly, the local council elections were conducted by the State Independent Electoral Commission (SIEC)– members of which were appointed by Fayose himself.


In the case of the local government elections in Ekiti South West Local Government, which was held on April 3, 2004, Senator Olowoporoku, whose wife, Anike was the All Nigerian Peoples Party (ANPP) candidate gave the following account; “By the midnight of 2nd April, 2004 we heard that soldiers had invaded Iyin Ekiti, the home of ex-Governor Adeniyi Adebayo and had put former Governor Bola Tinubu of Lagos State and Ex-Governors Osoba of Ogun State and Niyi Adebayo of Ekiti State under arrest of no movement in and out of the compound in a state of incommunicado.


“By about 9.00 a.m, people were ready to go and cast their ballots despite the war songs of the armed forces all over the town throughout the night. Their resolve was to go and vote in spite of the reported heavy presence of soldiers and mobile policemen in the town. Several people were on the queue to vote by 10.30a.m when Mr. Ayo Fayose suddenly emerged in sleeveless shirt and knickers with a terrifying sword and also in convoy of about 80 vehicles. His eyes were red like a monster who has just finished drinking blood. Soldiers and “kill and go” (mobile policemen) in hundreds started shooting into the air, asking everybody to run for their dear lives. People ran away, any presiding officers or agents whether of PDP or AD or ANPP or NCP who attempted to protect the ballot boxes were beaten to a state of coma or in a number of extreme cases, they were shot in the legs.

“In a rage and something more than madness, the governor Mr. Ayo Fayose was overheard shouting “where is Bode Olowoporoku, I want to kill him, I have immunity for eight years as Governor of Ekiti State.”



Olowoporoku’s account was corroborated by the reports in various national dailies on Sunday, April 4, 2004. Sunday Punch captioned it thus; “LG bye-election; Soldiers, mobile policemen invade Ekiti. Govt officials hijack ballot boxes.


The News Magazine, in its April 5, 2004 edition captioned Fayose’s reign of terror thus; “The Power Drunk Governor; How Fayose’s men murdered students. His style shocks the nation.



But if Fayose’s show of madness on April 2 and 3, 2004 actually shocked the nation as reported by The News Magazine, what he did on May 28, 2005 must have sent the whole country into a coma.


Sensing that his preferred candidate was losing the Ifaki Ward II councillorship bye-election, Fayose stormed the town with thugs and mobile policemen and in a twinkling of an eye, Tunde Omojola, an in-law to Hon. Labaika Suleiman, the National Conscience Party (NCP) candidate in the election had been killed. His murder was allegedly supervised by Fayose.





[b]Not done with the Ifaki escapade, Fayose moved to Mugbagba, Ado-Ekiti where the Alliance for Democracy (AD) was inaugurating its Ado Local Government Executives. Fayose was personally involved in the smashing of vehicle windscreens and stealing of property, including raw cash kept in the vehicles.

Yesterday, I read in the papers, Fayose, who used to refer to himself as the “master rigger” calling on voters to protect their votes and resist rigging in next year’s elections. In other words, Saint Fayose, who spearheaded the rigging of elections and unprecedented electoral violence when he was governor, now, wants the 2014 election, which he hopes to contest to be free and fair!



But he (Fayose) surely needs more than mere press statements. For him to be seen as a Saul who has turned to Paul, Fayose must show penitence. He must visit the families of Tunde Omojola, Dr. Ayo Daramola, nine students of the College of Education, Ikere-Ekiti killed during a mere protest, the likes of Aseweje, Ben Ogundana, Dapo Osunniyi, Kamoru Folorunso, Ojo Sunday and several others that were visited with terror during the 2004 local council polls in Ilawe, Ogotun and Igbara-Odo to seek amnesty.


Most importantly too, Fayose must go on his bended knees in front of the entire congregation of the Emmanuel Anglican Cathedral, Okesa, Ado-Ekiti, whose church’s two entrance gates he blocked with sand, gravel and gutter, deliberately dug in front of the church just because Chief Ojo Falegan, his perceived opponent, worshipped in the church.


Honestly, like Paul Apostle, Fayose can be admitted into the club of sainthood; after all, our Lord is a forgiving God. But he must be ready to show repentance by confessing that he once rigged elections, perpetrated electoral violence and persecuted opposition politicians. Until then, his quest for sainthood, by preaching free and fair elections will remain in the dustbin of morality.

Hmmm. Is there a reason so many senior elected and appointed PDP members in Ekiti state are defecting to APC?

Doesn't it seem that Fayose has bitten far more than he can chew with the imposition of Prof. Olusola Eleka over and above so many politicians who suffered with him through the years of his political oblivion?

The July 14 Ekiti election will be interesting to observe...

Nothing is sure for any party! Fayose's foothold seems shaky...And there is no "Federal might" of Army, Police, Civil Defence cover and "special security arm bands" like he (Fayose) had in 2014...

Atiku and Tinubu have come a long, long way!

They were both senior members of the SDP in 1992/1993 through the June 12 saga. In that era, Tinubu was a Lagos Senator and Chairman of Senate Committee on Banking & Finance (one of the three most powerful Committees in the Senate of 1992) and Atiku was a Presidential aspirant during SDP's National Convention in Jos. Both Tinubu and Atiku were Gen. Shehu Yar'Adua's boys in that era.

Tinubu gave Atiku a soft landing and a refuge when he was booted out of PDP by Obasanjo's hatred and vindictiveness- Tinubu handed the ACN Presidential ticket to Atiku in 2007!

Tinubu also wooed and welcomed Atiku into APC in 2013/2014...The only reason Atiku left APC was Buhari- his relationship with Tinubu is super intact. If you know, you know, lol.

These two guys have been friends and political associates for almost 30 years!

It is useful to those little children who were either yet to be born as at June 12 1993, 25 years ago, or were too young (at least less than teenage) but who foolishly and ignorantly continue to insult Abiola and other participants in that epic era of politics; an exciting era, as opposed to the current era of daft things called “stomach infrastructure”, “empowerment” (with wheel barrows, tea-making ingredients, grinders, hair-dressing and barber kits, etc), and other inanities.

Anybody was who was at least 13 in 1993 would have related well with your apt commentary.

Bashorun MKO Abiola, as you rightly stated, had a huge number of business interests in so many diverse sectors of the Nigerian economy. On his famed philanthropic interventions, I can write a book!

What MKO Abiola gave to people in education, sports, environment, entertainment, religion (he single-handedly built countless mosques and churches across Nigeria), traditional rulers, etc is 10 times more than anything Aliko Dangote is giving now! There are countless living witnesses to the philanthropist streak of MKO Abiola.

His liberal mind caused him to receive countless traditional titles from EVERY STATE in Nigeria- East, West, South, North! No Nigerian, living or dead, has had that Midas touch.

He was the champion of reparation for Africa by the band of colonialist countries all over the world. He spent his personal funds, huge funds in fact, to fight that cause!

Quite a lot of children took after his exceptional intelligence (Abiola had a First Class BSc. Accounting degree from Glasgow University, Scotland), and he was a chartered accountant and President of the Nigerian Stock Exchange, NSE. Some of them, Wura Abiola, Hafsat Abiola-Costello, and Tundun Abiola had First class degrees too. Wura had a PhD from Harvard...Her management consultancy firm, Management Transformation Limited, in Ikoyi, is thriving. I have heard others such as Jamiu, Lekan, Abdul, Ayo, speak too; and they talked intelligently.

History should swiftly return to the school curriculum in Nigeria; I read a lot of unintelligent thrash from the “indomie generation” on NR and elsewhere.

A nation that abandons its traditions, history, and cultures will not make significant progress. It will breed a brood of live-for-today clowns who know nothing about where they came from, let alone know about where they are supposed to go...

Tragic.

For me, the GREATEST thing for which I specially respect Bashorun MKO Abiola is the fact that he refused to chicken out; he rejected a negotiated freedom which would have meant that he betrayed the Nigerian people who voted him. If he had accepted “we-will-free-you-but- forget-about-your-mandate” offer, he probably would have died in exile as a broken man. He died for a cause!

Money could never have bought that! Never!

For the sake of your sanity, Ade Shonubi, the CBN Deputy Governor nominee, is just going to replace Bayo Adelabu, from South West, who recently resigned as Deputy Governor at the CBN!

This appointment is well deserved. Anyone who knows anything about the banking sector in Nigeria should know Ade Shonubi. The company, NIBSS, where he’s been MD/CEO since 2012, is a foremost, revolutionary payment system solution provider for ALL banks! Ade was an ED at Union Bank prior to being MD/CEO at NIBSS; one could not have been more qualified for this role than that!

For the information of dafties on NR; with this nomination, this is the current configuration of the Board of Governors of the CBN:

1. Governor: Godwin Emefiele- South-South
2. Deputy Governor, Economic Policy: Dr. Nnanna- South-East
3. Deputy Governor, Financial Systems Stability, FSS: Aishah Ahmad- North-Central
4. Deputy Governor, Corporate Services, Edward Adamu- North-East
5. Deputy Governor nominee, Operations, Ade Shonubi- South-West

With this list, Aishah Ahmad is the ONLY MUSLIM among the CBN Board of Governors! The other 4 are Christians, including the Governor! So, how could any sane human being fault Buhari on this appointment?

As at today, there are provisions for only 5 members, that is: 1 Governor and 4 Deputy Governors. So, the only outstanding geo-political region, the North-West, where the President originated from, has NO representative on the CBN Board of Governors.

So, how could anyone insult the President regarding tribalism for merely replacing a Deputy Governor from the South-West?

Hatred kills faster than AIDS and cancer; children of hate should purge theirselves of the hate for Buhari, for whether or not they like it, Buhari will win a 2nd term and end his tenure in 2023!

Someone who should know just gave a hint to me that Ayo Fayose and Bola Tinubu have been holding clandestine meetings in Lagos since Fayemi emerged as APC candidate in the Ekiti elections. They also spoke extensively on the phone after Adeyeye defected to APC yesterday...

People who know about the internal workings of both parties claimed that the reason Fayose had been courting Tinubu since the past 2 years is now coming to the fore.

If anyone may recall, Fayose made a special youtube video to celebrate Tinubu's 65th and 66th birthdays resepectively, where he wore a classy Yoruba traditional attire...

Also, he (Fayose) always referred to Tinubu as "our undisputable leader" even as he is the only PDP Governor in the South West and despite that he continued to insult Buhari, who is in the same APC with Tinubu!

Furthermore, owing to the slight and insult heaped on Tinubu by Fayemi (and Fashola) since they became Ministers under Buhari, Tinubu has been waiting to pay them back.

I have just read the news story regarding the court proceeding at the Federal High Court Lagos, yesterday, on how Rashidi Ladoja as PDP Governor of Oyo state looted the treasury and particularly unilaterally ordered the sale of the state's shares for a discounted rate of N1.6 billion without any State Executive Council meeting or approval and pocketed the entire N1.6billion! N1.6 billion in 2003-2007 (11-15 years ago) was a huge amount of money!

And this same thief, old fool bastard called Rashidi Ladoja is in PDP pontificating about good governance!

PDP started well (with the founding fathers such as Alex Ekwueme, Solomon Lar, Abubakar Rimi, and others) but derailed completely from 2003 after Obasanjo's first term.
